Gnocchi on 9th - Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"On the Upper East Side, Gnocchi on 9th has their fourth NYC location on East 76th street. Their original location went viral for $10 takeout containers of gnocchi, sauced with pomodoro or vodka sauce. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

As someone who regularly makes homemade noodles and Gnocchi, this spot is fantastic. Gnocchi on Ninth is dedicated entirely to handmade gnocchi, offering delicious meals at an incredibly reasonable $10 price point. Their gnocchi Alla Vodka is a fresh, tomato-forward sauce, complemented by visible bits of rosemary and basil. The texture of the gnocchi hits that perfect balance of soft yet satisfyingly chewy. That isn't easy to do, and they make it seem effortless. Not only is it delicious, the portions are generous, and the potato is filling making it easy to share. My wife and I split a single order and were both perfectly full. Service is quick, making it a great choice for a fast lunch or early dinner. Though primarily a to-go setup, there's a single outdoor table for those who want to sit down. This is a solid option for anyone looking for high-quality, affordable gnocchi. It's worth checking out if you have any inkling of hunger at all. This is a setup I've only ever seen in Venice, and I am so happy to see it here in NYC.

It's super convenient to order and have fresh gnocchi on the spot, and this simple menu enjoys it is a quick in and out experience. We got the signature a la vodka sauce topped with burrata. The burrata was excellent, and the flavors of the pasta in the chinese container were ok... I wish the food was made to order and served (vs warm cafeteria style). Regardless, it's a clean atmosphere and welcomed on the neighborhood. No seating.

Nice. We have a newcomer to this neighborhood.. they are formally opening this Friday, but have been serving delicious delectables for a few weeks now as they complete setting up. Vegetarian. Pasta based.. entirely Italian. As someone else has said here ~ only seen in Italy before. The servings are fresh, generous, and served in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. And well priced, for today's market, where eating out has become pricey. The gnocchi alla vodka with burrata is a must-have. Very nice. I wish them luck and longevity.

This place knows how to do gnocchi! I got the pesto and it was delicious. I love garlic but I found it slightly too garlicky for me. The staff were really nice and the place is clean. Cheered me up on a rainy Sunday evening! Will be back.

Google
Gnocchi on 9th feels like the kind of place built for your 20-minute lunch break. It is fast, no-frills, and laser-focused on one thing: serving hot, pillowy gnocchi coated in rich, velvety sauces (try the Vodka sauce) that cling to every bite. Whether it’s the black truffle cacio e pepe or the creamy alla vodka, each bowl is the kind of indulgent comfort that makes the rest of your day feel a little easier.

I recently visited Gnocchi on 9th and it was truly an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with just the right mix of cozy and vibrant energy. As for the food — absolutely divine! The gnocchi was perfectly pillowy and full of flavor, with sauces that tasted both authentic and fresh. You can really tell the care and quality that goes into every dish. I also appreciated the variety on the menu — whether you're craving something rich and hearty or light and refreshing, there’s something for everyone. The service was just as impressive. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, making the evening feel special without ever being overbearing. This is exactly the kind of neighborhood gem that makes New York dining so unforgettable. Highly recommend for a casual dinner, a special date night, or just when you're craving some top-tier Italian comfort food. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
Yummy, quick, and affordable! Didn't know they opened on the UES, but glad I found it during my walk. Wanted something on the go. I got the Allá Vodka w/ Burrata and it was so good! One serving is plenty and can definitely be shared. The employees were super inviting and provided great suggestions to us first timers. The place is small and just one tiny table for two outside. It is not for one to stay.

Yelp
I was quite hungover today and needed a boost. Gnocchi on 9th was a very pleasant surprise. For $10-11, you really can't go wrong. The pomodoro and pesto were great. Lots of garlic and the pasta was delicious. I felt way better after eating here. We skipped the burrata, but it looked like a good thing to try next time. Absolutely worth a try.

Yelp
Okay yes, this place was great. I waited about 1.5 hours to get some free gnocchi for the grand opening which, don't get me wrong, is a long time. However, there were so many people in line and many more who had to be turned away AND the air conditioning broke so I have so much respect and admiration for the staff who were serving us alongside such hot food (which was immediately made a priority of the owner, in a response to maintain comfortable working conditions for the workers). Thanks so much for powering through that. I have a decent patience tolerance when it comes to waiting for free food, but I will say, this gnocchi was genuinely worth the wait. The gnocchi a la vodka with burrata and Parmesan on top was super creamy, fresh, and the perfect amount of filling. Although I didn't pay, this would definitely be worth the $10.89 it would normally cost. Congrats to the team on the opening!

Yelp
I ordered the gnocchi vodka Al burrata and it came in a cute takeout container. The worker asked if I wanted chilli flakes and cheese as well. It was sooooooo delicious and flavorful!! The portions are also deceiving, they are way bigger than it looks. The food was also prepared very fast and there was nice AC inside. There is no seating inside but there are two tables outside which is where I Ate, but unfortunately is not shaded.

Yelp
Try: Al Pesto and Black Truffle Cacio E Pepe! Why: I was walking home and noticed this new restaurant with a line so had to try! I appreciate the simple menu specializing in gnocchi takeout. We tried the Al Pesto and Black Truffle Cacio E Pepe. Added Burrata on the Al Pesto, which was delicious. Basil Al Pesto sauce was light and flavorful. Burrata was creamy and rich. Black Truffle Cacio E Pepe was creamy, but I didn't love the chili peppers added on top. After eating the top layer with the chile peppers, each bite got better. Gnocchi was soft, chewy, dense and hearty. Don't let the small takeout container fool you because I was full! Notes: Small and cute takeout restaurant with one table outside. They just opened last week and seemed busy for dinner rush with online orders and customers in person. Al Pesto did take a few extra minutes but it was worth it. Workers were friendly and helpful. I overheard someone asking about ingredients for dietary restrictions and they were able to share exact ingredients. They also had gluten free option for $3 extra. I would like to come back to try the other Gnocchi! What a nice addition to UES!

Yelp
Small shop, focused on gnocchi, as the name implies! I tired the gnocchi with pesto. They offered a burrata cheese for the top but I declined this time. They also suggested putting Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes on it. I don't think the pepper flakes went that well with the gnocchi. It was served in a box - looked like the size of box you normally get take-away rice at a Chinese restaurant. Initially thought this might be a small portion but it's very dense and I was full afterwards. Overall it tasted ok, but wasn't amazing: I've had various kinds of gnocchi before, this didn't have much background flavor and was a bit plasticky. Still, it's well priced and tasted ok. Give it a shot.

Yelp
I went to the store around 3pm on a weekday. I got the gnocchi alla vodka with burrata and cheese and it was about $13-14. The gnocchi was very fresh and hot and the service was good but there is no indoor seating.

Yelp
Saw this on instagram and had to bring my gf on over. We ordered the gnocchi with vodka with burrata and red pepper flakes, and it was definitely worthwhile to stop by and indulge. Couple of seats outside allowed us to eat it in the moment and enjoy it while it was still warm. Definitely worth coming to try!

Yelp
5 stars for food and service but 3 stars for the store atmosphere ventilation. I tried the vodka, pesto, cacio e pepe, and the pomodoro. All was delicious, fresh and the sauce is robust and flavorful. The place is clean and organized and the service is wonderful. But,THERE IS NO AIR CONDITION. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE working conditions. There are several boiling pots with overhead spotlights and the only air circulation are 2 fans in the entire store. If this is not taken care of soon I will personally file a complaint with the department of labor.
