"In case you don’t already know, Gökyüzü is a Turkish restaurant in Harringay that lives in our hearts rent-free. We’d go for the manti, the chicken wings, the cop shish, and the beyti. Yeah we know it’s a big order, but it’s the kind of food you happily take away and eat the next day. Or as soon as you get home. "We know, we know. You’ve spent many an Eid here before. But that’s because this Turkish spot knows its way around a group get-together. There are mixed meze platters, there’s sarma kuzu beyti, there’s chaos, and we love it all. The stalwart mini-chain has spots dotted around north east London, but the Green Lanes location feels the cosiest. With plenty of tables for groups and a kunafa that requires sharing, it’s perfect for a family gathering. Traditional Turkish restaurants are now one of the only reliable endorsers and providers of free bread in London and Gökyüzü’s has a special place in our heart.
