The Best Pizza Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"Price: $$ Rudyard’s has served Detroit-style pizzas for years, but now Houstonians can get a wider variety of daily at Gold Tooth Tony’s Heights, Montrose, and Bellaire outposts. Sink your teeth into the thick dough that’s a delightful cross between focaccia and sourdough, and revel in the different toppings and combinations. The 181 Heights — an ode to the now-shuttered Pi — is loaded with arugula pesto, almond, chili flake, lemon zest, and fennel pollen, while Sebastian’s Big Idea is a cheesy and fun combination of Spam, togarashi roasted pineapple, and furikake seasoning. You can’t go wrong with a more classic pie like the pepperoni. Be sure to try some of its “not pizza” items, like its pizza tots or General Tso’s chicken wings with a spicy ranch. Know before you go: Chef Adam Bitner offers also offers a Houston-style pizza, which is a delightful fusion of New York and Detroit-style pies." - Brittany Britto Garley

Where to Find the Best Wings in Houston | Eater Houston

"Pizza and wings often go hand in hand, and Anthony Calleo makes sure it’s an option at his Detroit-style pizza joint (at the Bellaire and Heights locations — sorry Montrose). Enjoy saucy wings coming in flavors like classic Buffalo, garlic parmesan, NS General Tso’s, or opt for the dry-spiced wings that are best dunked in Ranch or blue cheese dressing." - Brittany Britto Garley

One of the coolest places to unwind after a stressful week at work. Mackenzie hooked us up with a great table but honestly any would have been fine! Awesome experience and we will be back. By the way, their Detroit Pizza rocks!

$60 for 4 corners and garlic knots?!? Criminal! Pizza was soggy with little to no crunch. I was down to pay if it was good but dang.... Super disappointed. And damn near $4 for a small dipping cup of mid ass ranch! This place has some audacity. At least the flavor was good. .. Nothing special just good. Love some good Detroit Pizza but this ain't it. No intention of going back.

Disappointed with Last Night’s Order I’ve ordered the square pizza from Gold Tooth Tony’s several times and, for the most part, it’s been great. There was only one occasion in the past where the pizza was just okay—but nothing too bad to complain about. Last night, however, was a completely different story. I ordered two squares via DoorDash and even customized my order with added options. The receipt I received was accurate, but what showed up at my door was far from what I ordered. Instead of the square pizzas I was expecting, I got two mini circular pies—something I never ordered. The pizzas were dry, lacked sauce, and had terrible chicken that tasted awful. It was nothing like the quality I’ve come to expect. It honestly felt like whoever worked last night didn’t care at all about the food they were sending out. Gold Tooth Tony’s, you’re better than this. Stick to what you’re good at (the square pizzas) and seriously consider addressing quality control in your kitchen. Last night’s experience was disgusting and not worth the money.

Pizza is good. But ordered the hunger force expecting the whipped ricotta and didn’t get it. That was my main reason for ordering the pizza to try it. If it’s a staple for the pizza why is it left off? Boooooo

Gold Tooth Tony's: A Detroit-Style Dream! ★★★★★ Gold Tooth Tony's is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is fantastic, creating a perfect ambiance for enjoying delicious food with friends. Our server was attentive and friendly, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. But let's talk about the food! We started with the curly fries, which were crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the garlic knots, a cheesy, garlicky delight. For the main event, we couldn't resist trying both the vegetable and meatball pizzas. Wow! The Detroit-style crust is simply amazing – crispy edges and a chewy, airy center. The toppings on both pizzas were fresh and flavorful. If you're a pizza lover, Gold Tooth Tony's is a must-try! Detroit-style pizza has officially won us over. #GoldToothTonys #DetroitPizza #HoustonFoodie #PizzaLover #AmazingFood #GreatService

Google
Trash Pizza. Entire Pie was over cooked and burnt. If you’re paying $50 for pizza, you would expect better quality food. Also I think the other reviews to this place are fake or made up read rest of the one star reviews if you plan on ordering first.

I ordered take out from here tonight. Being a native New Yorker I am somewhat of a pizza snob, although this place has Detroit style pizza, it’s delicious and great quality. We also loved the garlic knots. Although it was takeout, the pizza still came perfect, not soggy, and tasted very fresh. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again!

I haven’t dined in, but I’ve ordered carry out twice and loved the pizzas. I do wish the pineapple were fresh instead of canned but otherwise solid pizza. The cinnamon knots felt a bit stale/hard but I’ve only ordered those once.

Yelp
Nice bar vibe spot, staff was extremely friendly and polite. Had the Griz (sweet, full of flavor, but personal preference is that it is more wet than I would have liked because it is loaded with sauce) and Hunger Force (definitely recommend and would order again). Detroit style pizza is not my preference as I'm more of a NY thin crunchy slice. However, I'll always give it a try and won't knock the restaurant for that.

Yelp
Whew. I've been twice in one week. I'm going back on Wednesday. The pizza is fire but the overall bar was a vibe!!!! We had elote, 2 pizzas, and dill pickle dip my first trip. I had an IPA while I waited on my to go order Saturday. The bartenders are a vibe. Decor is a vibe. Other guests are nice and chatty in a non annoying way. I don't even like small talk but have found myself talking to other patrons at the bar each time. I saw Monday is steak night. I'm going. Wednesday and Thursday are trivia nights I believe. And karaoke on Thursday. Go alone. Go with friends. Just. Go.

Yelp
Rolled the dice and was pleasantly surprised! Gold Tooth's tomato sauce is SO GOOD, and the ingredients tastes fresh and authentic. 8/10

Yelp
Great spot to get Detroit style pizza! Got the griz, special of the month, and hunger force. All the pizzas were flavorful and filling, but the dough seemed a little undercooked. My favorite was the special of the month, which was a vegetarian pizza with goat cheese!

Yelp
So. I've seen the rave of Gold tooth tony's pizza all over the internet and tiktok and decided to try it. To be fair, we did take out so this review might not be as applicable to those who plans to dine in. We went on a weekday evening, ordered online and it told us to pick it up in about 20-30 minutes. We arrived on time but had to wait another 30 minutes to pick it up and had to wait in the store. What we ordered: *Pep - the crust wasn't as crispy as we wished. A little underseasoned sauce as well. Could be better I think, but wasn't necessarily worth almost $20 for four pieces, albeit they were huge and loaded slices. Party of 2 price - about $24+ for a single pizza for take out including taxes and tips I give it a 6/10, I don't think I'll necessarily return, maybe I would try the heights location for dine in some point, but unfortunately, the delayed pick-up really ruined our experience of Gold tooth tony. Don't get me wrong, it's solid pizza, but I don't think it's worth that much, but again this is coming from someone who used to live in the east coast so I have some expectations to my pizzas. Couldn't say much about the vibe but it seemed like a chill bar place great for hanging out with friends!

Yelp
The Houston veggie personal pan isn't worth the $24. They honestly should keep to Detroit-style pizza and toss these round things in the trash
