"Gold’s is equidistant from I-95 and Merritt Parkway, so it’s a short detour no matter which way your phone’s GPS has you driving through the Connecticut coast. Call ahead to order a super sandwich that’s filled with corned beef, pastrami, swiss cheese and coleslaw, and served with a container of creamy russian dressing and a perfectly tart pickle. When you arrive to pick it up, you’ll definitely want to stock up on the deli’s selection of road snacks like chips, cookies, and more. " - anne cruz

Perfectly classic Jewish deli. I had the pastrami on rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing. It was excellent. Potato salad on the side was very good. The pickles they give you when you sit down is a nice touch

Just had a life changing experience. The smoked whitefish sandwich rocked my world! Thank you guys for serving fresh ingredients. I can taste the effort and care you put into my late lunch. Until next time…

Golds is an old school deli. Love this place. The food is 100% on the top shelf. The only thing better is the fantastic people that work there. When you live 50 miles from NYC, all you hear about is the tourist deli's that everyone does TikToks on. This is the deli your grandma goes to for real food. If I lived closer to Westport I'd be there twice a week. It's the real deal and it's in Connecticut no less! Go!

Gary Schnaper

Google
The food is the best! You can order on their website for pickup at a time convenient to you. Or just go in and order at the counter. Or sit at a table and get a scrumptious sandwich. Many to choose from the menu on the wall! I travel 1.50 hours to go there. Definitely worthy of a visit!

Google
I tried Gold's today for the first time and the "Rachel" sandwich was absolutely delicious. The black and white cookies were also wonderful. I highly recommend Gold's for anyone looking for a solid Jewish deli!

Garrison Manne

Google
This place is an institution in Westport. The best Jewish Deli around. PERIOD! Highly recommend! Everything is cooked in- house and has been that way for as long as I can remember.

I just discovered this place recently, as it's on my way to PT, and I love it! I only order one kind of sandwich, the Super (a Reuben sandwich with some extra oomph) and, occasionally, some other items. It always meets my expectations. The set up seems a bit strange, given the narrow area where you can pay, which is also the area where you wait for your order AND it's really close to the entry/exit point. That can definitely be improved, should the owners decide to invest a little in some small adjustments. However, it looks like they are more old school, therefore set in their own ways, so that change might not happen. Interestingly enough, all that still works and it has a melancholic "scent" so to say (hey, if it ain's broke, why fix it... right?) It's a place where some strong traditions and cultural things blend in very well with the modern days and the customers, given that the food quality is good, will put up with just about anything and everything.

Best Jewish deli in Connecticut. Just wish it were closer to me!

Yelp
Love! Like I'm back on the Lower East Side in the 1950's, Gold's is a classic Jewish delicatessen offering a mouth-water selection of deli favorites that bring me right back to my youth, growing up around places like this. The pastrami on rye, corned beef and brisket, liverwurst, tongue, matzo ball soup, knish, lox and cream cheese, chicken liver, NY cheesecake, etc. are the best anywhere. Gold's has been rated the best pastrami sandwich in Connecticut and I agree. I just discovered Gold's and luckily live nearby, so I'll be back soon!

Yelp
We lived in Westport CT for over 40 years and got to know the original owner, Julius, and his staff. It was our go-to place in town despite the competition. Julius ran a tight ship, and the food he served was fresh, homemade, high-quality deli food. The counter staff and servers were always pleasant, and they treated customers and their children like family. They would offer a child a pretzel stick or sweet ( with the parent's approval) gratis. We recently visited and we're extremely disappointed. When I came in through the back door, I walked past cases of canned College Inn chicken broth and didn't mention anything. So much for homemade. The chicken noodle soup my wife ordered was tasteless, and my matzoh ball soup should have been called cotton ball soup. A liverwurst sandwich tasted like understuffed packaged supermarket deli meat smothered in wilted red onion and pressed between 2 pieces of decent rye bread. Prices are nothing to write home about, but it is Westport and located on the Post road. The Gold's we remember has become a tired old place in need of a deep cleaning, and we'll not be back.

Amory B.

Yelp
Pastrami, and chopped liver on rye. Mustard lettuce and tomato. Cute place. Since 1958. Sammy was tight and I enjoyed the space a lot. Old school:

Brian L.

Yelp
Very old school deli with lots of history. Had high hopes for this place but for me it was not bad but not exceptional. Had the pastrami on non seeded rye and it was fairly good but does not stack up to Greenblatt pastrami (now closed unfortunately due to pandemic). People here are very nice however, and place seems trapped in time.

Mary B.

Yelp
Having not visited in a few years, we stopped for sit down lunch. If we didn't order the pastrami/corned beef to share the regular sandwich would have left us hungry. The corn beef sandwiches were sparce in addition of meat, let's say it looked like a salami sandwich. The rye bread was dry and almost to the point of being stale. Pickels served were tasteless, the place was packed, but I'm writing them off for any future visits. Big disappointment from my past experiences at Golds!

Matt A.

Yelp
Old school Deli staple. They price their sandwiches good. The Corned Beef on Rye is excellent. Fortunate to have place like this when so many Jewish Style Deli's are going out of business. Service is good, it's consistent and they're friendly.

Karen W.

Yelp
I went just before Yom Kippur, 2023, so it was very busy with a long line. I couldn't believe how fast the line moved. The help were very knowledgeable and super efficient. The chopped liver, and especially the onion bread were to die for. Also the pastries were a 10. I felt they were kind of pricey, but who isn't pricey these days...I definitely recommend.

Steven H.

Yelp
Thank G*d we have this island of Jewish fabulousness. I would be lost without their excellent salami, hamantaschen, potatoe latkes....goodbye waistline....hello smiles

Don B.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch the other day and it is in a small shopping center. When you enter there is a retail and deli space upfront and the restaurant is in the back of the store. If you are eating there than just sit at an open table and a waitress will take your order. I had the super sandwich with a black and white cookie. The sandwich was delicious and a good size. I added extra sauce to my sandwich but they put that on the side so you can doctor it up as you see fit. The black-and-white cookie was delicious and fluffy. I would definitely stop here for lunch again when I'm in the area.

Aditi S.

Yelp
Pretty new to Fairfield and these are some of the best bagels I've ever had. We got bagels, cream cheese, and lox here and I can't say enough. Everything tasted perfect and made in house and the staff were really nice when ordering. Can't wait to come back and get more bagels and would highly recommend!

Courtney C.

Yelp
This place is so cute. It has a great deli selection and a nice diner feel to the seating in the back. Lots of goodies you don't see anymore. I love how they have Jewish classics like latkes and knish on the menu. I ordered a pastrami Reuben, which was perfectly assembled and generous. I can't complain. The only thing is the meat is shaved classic and thin, nothing like the thick juicy meat from Katz's.

Dan K.

Yelp
This place is THE BEST. If you are looking for a good Jewish deli in the Fairfield CT area - you are in luck because Gold's is BEYOND good. From the food to the vibe to, most importantly, the food... this place is an institution of comfort, deliciousness and love. Do not drive by - pop in for lunch or grab some love to go.

Kyle S.

Yelp
I was angry when I read that some travel magazine named Gold's as the best pastrami sandwich in Connecticut. Being a religious-level fan of Rein's Deli in Vernon, I thought there was no way that Gold's could compete. So I visited when in the area. Just from walking in I was impressed. Gold's looks like it hasn't updated the interior since the '50s and I mean that as a compliment. This old-school neighborhood deli in the middle of upscale Westport is an unexpected jolt of warming nostalgia. And as soon as I sipped the matzah ball soup, served at a wonderfully volcanic temperature, I knew I was wrong to disbelieve the magazine's review. The soup was so well done, tasting homemade, that I was tempted to peek in the kitchen to see whether my bubbe was back there making it herself. And the pastrami was heavenly. Fresh and delicious. Without prompt, the waitress brought me an extra side of Russian dressing "in case of emergencies," and I almost died of joy. I've been back 1,000 times since.

Paal T.

Yelp
A historical Westport establishment! Bought some bagels and Lox for a large party! Everyone was extremely, sly happy with the quality!!

Dylan K.

Yelp
This is a traditional Jewish deli. It can be a very busy place depending on what time you go. There is dine in seating or you can order to go. What's nice is they have a lot of soups in the fridge ready for take home. I love this place!

Danny A.

Yelp
By far the best deli in the best deli in the area. For Jewish delis that are a must this is on the list up there with Katz. Great and I wouldn't suggest this to anyone, I don't want this place getting to cramped. A silent guilty pleasure that should be shared with only the closest in your life.

Steve D.

Yelp
To use the expression "Meh" maybe be the most descriptive. If you are anticipating a "New York Deli" style sandwich, this is not going to happen. Overall quality of product and service is good but does not meet the expectations of a good Jewish deli. There are better in CT.

Heidi S.

Yelp
Yum! UPDATE: My dad's favorite deli around the Fairfield County area. I too have enjoyed their sandwiches. They have been here for a long time. This is really my dad's review as he has frequented the place more then me. (And asked me to look them up on Yelp and mention the awesome pastrami Reuben which I am happy to do.)Everyone: The Pastrami Reuben is awesome!! My dad is VERY picky about his pastrami so if he loves it..well it's going to be pretty good. I am not a big pastrami eater at all but honestly the few times I've been here I've loved it as well along with other family members. Great deli with fresh and delicious meats and just an all around great time.

Zack C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Not only is the food delicious but the staff are always friendly and welcoming. My family has been shopping here for the holidays for years.

Geraldine S.

Yelp
I got a whitefish salad for my 94 year old mother for the holidays. There were many small bones in it and one big bone. Of she hadn't seen them, she easily could have choked. Shame on you.

Monica P.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food and service at this place during my trip to Connecticut. Loved the French toasts and fresh orange juice. Also all the treats they have .... So dangerous and delicious

Kerrie D.

Yelp
Great road trip stop during a drive from Maine to NYC. There is a large parking lot in back, with a direct entrance into the deli. Ordering/paying was a little bit confusing, but we figured it out. They had lots of excellent looking baked goods; rugelach, black and white cookies, rainbow cookies, and halvah candies, but we were there for road food and ordered two great big sandwiches with an extra half sour pickle on the side! My sandwich of turkey, swiss, and cole slaw on rye was excellent and packed. My friend got a behemoth pastrami, corned beef and cole slaw combination that was super satisfying.

Amy D.

Yelp
I had never been to this iconic Westport deli before today and I'm so sad to say I'm disappointed with my sandwich. I ordered hot pastrami on rye with mustard & Swiss & a block of halavah. My total was $19, which I thought was a lot but if the sammie was great, I wouldn't mind the cost. It wasn't. The pastrami itself was very tough! They did give me two different pickles with my order which I appreciated. Staff was helpful & friendly. I just wished I loved my sammie but I didn't.

Alison M.

Yelp
I have been ordering from this deli for years and it is usually fantastic. However, I was so disappointed at the pastrami sandwich my daughter brought home for me yesterday. The pastrami was fatty, the meat was minimal and it made me long for the days year ago when I lived in NYC and frequented Carnegie deli for their incredible pastrami sandwiches. Golds is expensive but, prior to yesterday, I felt it was fair given the quality of their food and location. Not now. When I return I will purchase my standard lean brisket which is always delicious and worth the price.

jennifer l.

Yelp
Ever since the Pandemic, Gold's has been going WAAAAYYYYY downhill. For eat-in, it seems the kitchen help has no idea what they are doing. Matzo Ball soap tastes like lukewarm dishwater and one of their formerly great sandwhiches -- the Super -- has shot up in price by a few dollars and is totally inferior. $13 for dry thin slices of corned beef and pastrami, a thin layer of cole slaw and hardly any dressing on stale rye bread. Plus, it's a dump that needs cleaning up and a renovation.

Bet ..

Yelp
This place certainly didn't live up to the hype. For charging 9.50 for a corned beef sandwich, I certainly expected more. I could have gone across the street to Trader Joe's and bought the fixings for better sandwiches! Save your money and go elsewhere.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Best Corn-beef and Pastrami Sandwiches in New England ...hands down Good meat to bread ratio and good Rye bread. Service is awesome and Ive gone here for over 40 years

Katie P.

Yelp
Have worked a few doors down for the last 12 years. They're all like family friends. My daily goto for coffee. They're very accommodating with my half sandwich or salad plate requests. I love the fresh turkey. I always leave a tip for the ladies, even if I'm getting takeout. They work so hard. I appreciate their attention to my order details and making sure there's fresh coffee.

Emily L.

Yelp
We love this super authentic Jewish deli! They make the absolute best corned beef, it's especially good warm on its own, or amazing in a sandwich. They also have really yummy gluten free bread for sandwiches (and other gluten free items in their freezer section) Things that are also delicious at Gold's that I've tried so far are tuna salad, liverwurst (it's the best) and vinaigrette style Cole slaw. Eat in or take out is both a pleasant experience. They have specialty items like smoked fish, chicken liver paté and even beef tongue. Also they carry caviar on the holidays ;) All sandwiches come with a free pickle!

Yahya M.

Yelp
Didn't even get a chance to take pictures of our delicious sandwiches. We just recently moved from the deep South to the North and we go all over the East Coast to try different delis, this place has officially been put on the top of our list as being the best. Will definitely drive an hour back to try different things!

Sara T.

Yelp
Coming from NYC I was worried about losing out on my neighborhood deli but have no fear because Gold's is amazing! Nancy was so lovely helping us and giving us the lay of the land. Their turkey is made in-house and is the best i've ever had. So excited to order their matzo ball soup all winter!

B S.

Yelp
Great old school Jewish deli with crusty bread and amazing pastrami, a must stop when in Westport!

Andy S.

Yelp
Matza ball soup, three bean salad, Cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato knishes, tuna salad (with hot peppers), egg salad, roast beef and chicken salad sandwich. Black and white cookies and jelly filled doughnuts. It was amazing. Picky eaters were mmmmmmming with delight.

James R.

Yelp
It's kind of a wave of nostalgia when I get back to Westport. Long before the pseudo prepster Marty McGillicuddy and Rocco Cementhead types from Jersey and Long Island moved here (CT is just a lifestyle, Fairfield County has become a fashion statement), Westport was sort of a writers hangout and a few celebs based out of NYC could live here quietly and get their mail at the PO without anyone bothering them. It's a lot more slick now, yet the beaches at Burying Hill and Compo and a few classic eateries still exist. Gold's is one of them... where my Gramma used to get the sandwiches when we would visit. Gold's is no nonsense, but all the goodies at a classic Jewish deli are in there. It's fairly compact, but I usually do take out here. Usually here for a tounge or corned beef with swiss on rye with spicy brown mustard, which are always good. Cole slaw is light on the mayo. Full sour pickles are excellent (not wincy but close..). Wash it down with a Doc Brown Cel-Ray (the idea of Cel-Ray I heard is to induce a good burp...seriously). There's a good reason these folks are still around. There has been a good sized Jewish community in the area for a long time (Fairfield-Westport-Norwalk), but looking at the folks who are getting their deli on in this place..the demographics of the deli patron are changing, but thankfully these food classics haven't.

Jill W.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! This deli is by far the best deli I have ever eaten at in my life. I have eaten here all of my life and this place never fails to disappoint. Their tuna is by far the best tuna I've ever eaten and their Hungarian Apricot Pastries are absolutely delicious. I have no idea why anyone would ever rate Gold's anything below 5 stars. Great service, always top quality food, and an amazing selection. A must go to if you are in Fairfield County.

Christine W.

Yelp
20-30 years ago, Gold's was a quality deli. Since the ownership changed, it really went way down hill. I ordered a pastrami on rye and I was presented with a fatty, unchewable pastrami sandwich that I threw out. The quality was so poor that it was inedible. This would have never happened at the old Gold's because their standards had been so much higher!

Joe S.

Yelp
I phoned Gold's Deli. Someone picked up the phone and set it down and never said anything. For 20 minutes I can hear a lady complaining complaining complaining about all the orders. I finally hung up. I will never go there. Very rude not to say hello. And don't want anybody that unhappy handling my food.

Candy B.

Yelp
My favorite deli in Westport! Love their hot corned beef sandwich, it's a treat. People behind counters always nice and courteous.

Jan B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and a refreshing trip back to childhood memories of simple food. Wonderful old Jewish deli experience with a perfect waitress who has probably been serving tables here for decades. Two thumbs up on the liver wurst on rye with yellow mustard and onion.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Golds is an amazing place! From the owners Jim and Nancy, to the staff Denis , etc. to the volunteers, like Dan, they are doing everything and anything above and beyond to service this community. I've heard stories of people bad mouthing them, stories of people being rude and impatient, and they are doing their best six days a week to provide everything that everyone needs. Their food is fresh, their pastrami and corn beef and turkey and roast beef Are made on premises, their soups their salads and their bagels. They, like everyone else, are trying to stay afloat, they've been there forever back to my grandparents and parents, and we are all lucky to have them in our community! They rock, and so does their food. So go out, support local takeout and delivery and help our community. You will never be disappointed in Golds !!

James R.

Yelp
Day old bread,Dry meat, poor service very disappointing ..Not sure how some people rated this with 3-4 star..

Steven G.

Yelp
Been around forever! One of Westport'd true staples!!! My grandparents, parents and now I have always loved the food, wonderful service and the warm family feeling you get from Jim, Nancy and the entire crew! Steve G

Debrin S.

Yelp
OMG. Another missed review! Yikes- I better get on the ball! I have bn coming to this REAL authentic deli for like 17 yrs now. Real roasted turkey made on premesis. And Bialys! Hard to find but these are delish! Pastrami, corned beef, real spicy deli mustard, chicken salad, fresh pasteries, cream cheese choices, muffins, bagels, chips, cold salads, 1/2 sour pickles too! Lots of retail like chips, coffee, water, soda, candy, hard to find items that remind you of treats your grandparents would bring you. Great service, fresh thickly sliced breads like rye & pumpernickel too. Small seating outside. Parking in back is best.

Brendan B.

Yelp
Gold's is a great place that we go to often. During these Covid times it has continued to deliver its amazing food in the friendly orderly fashion we have come to love. The online order and curbside pickup process is well organized and easy. So much so, that I hope they keep a version of it when this passes. Thank you Golds for keeping the Bagel Train rolling!!!!

CJ P.

Yelp
Why can't I eat here every day? My cardiologist has some suggestions for an answer to that question, but I'd like to ignore him. Gold's has the best bagels and nova. Ever. Gold's is a Westport staple. The atmosphere is that of a comfortable deli. Staff is very friendly and accommodates special orders. I get my marzipan fix from the candy shelves near the check out. The sandwiches are really good, and one of my favorite things about Gold's is their orange juice. You won't find better orange juice anywhere else.

Martin R.

Yelp
I never thought I would rate an on line takeout system for a restaurant but I guess it's time. Golds system is perfection. From the ease of ordering to text when ready to curbside pickup it was seamless. Great work guys at a difficult time.

Alice P.

Yelp
Love love love this place. The pastrami is delicious. It should be marketed as a room freshener I just love the smell.

Clyde C.

Yelp
I forgot how wonderful a meal can be from a family owned deli. Haven't experienced anything near this level of deliciousness since moving from Manhattan. The sandwiches - excellent, chopped liver - top notch, Nova - off the charts! Go and enjoy. For the entitled Fairfield County "elite", go somewhere else; This is a deli/market, not your country club.

Vincent E.

Yelp
I wish I had opportunity to go more often. We love this place. Old style Jewish deli. Good eats and good service.

Sue D.

Yelp
They have the best lox I've ever had! Sliced so thin and laid out perfectly. You can tell they truly care. One of the best places to get food in town. My day is always better for having been there. Love it!
