"Grilled tripe and large intestines reign supreme at Gom Ba Wie, which has seen three decades of customers hooked on their buttery, pleasantly chewy goodness. The original location and the new location stand back to back, offering a glimpse of the restaurant’s past and present. If beef intestines aren't your cup of tea, the restaurant also offers other cuts like ribeye, short ribs and brisket. All meats are grilled over wood charcoal." - Michelin Inspector

The Best Barbecue in Seoul: 14 Must-Try Restaurants - Eater

"Gombawi has maintained a strong reputation as one of the most popular yangdaechang (beef tripe and large intestine) restaurants in Korea since 1983, nailing the unique flavor and chewy texture you can only get from fresh yangdaechang and gopchang (intestines) prepared right. Gombawi also serves various cuts of excellent hanwoo, such as sirloin, ribs, and brisket, accompanied by banchan. Hongtang, a spicy red soup full of beef ribs and gopchang, is a hearty addition to the table, especially good on a chilly night or after a few rounds of drinking." - Matty Kim

I had dinner at Gom Ba Wie in Seoul, and it was a great experience. The food was nice and well-prepared, making it a good spot for a satisfying meal. The small intestine was the standout dish perfectly grilled, flavorful, and had the best texture. The place itself has a cozy and authentic atmosphere, making it ideal for a relaxed dinner. If you enjoy Korean BBQ, especially beef intestines, one of the best ever! this is definitely worth a visit!

Hey dude! I’d like to introduce a killer Korean restaurant, which is a 10-minute walk away from COEX. Although they are somewhat expensive, it’s worth the money. I enjoyed a special boiled beef tripe soup (spicy). The soup was good, rich and flavorful. It was served warm. Okay. If you have a hangover, I recommend you to have it for relieving a hangover. This restaurant is decorated well and further it has a small garden. The staff who are wearing uniform gave me good service. Many people were enjoying the food. I think it is a good place for everybody. Come and get it. Enjoy.

Meal budget per person (without drinks) Category 2 (under 130000 KRW, 100 USD) Gombawie has been since 1983 and specializes in Korean Barbecue. The restaurant has been listed in Michelin Guide since 2017 continuously to year 2024. A Cow has 4 stomachs, the first one is Beef Tripe (양), the second is honeycomb Tripe (벌집양 or 벌집위), the third is Omasum (천엽) and the forth is Abomasum (막창 or 홍창). There are many Charcoal Grilled Menu and the signature ones are: * Prime Beef Tripe (특양): It is not seasoned, so I can feel the unique taste and texture of the Beef Tripe. The special chili soy sauce is the perfect match with it, is harmonious with sweet & salty taste, and along with Charcoal Grill, it is light and super delectable! * Beef Abomasum (막창): It is the 4th stomach of cow and only 400 gr is available from one cow. It is also called HongChang. It is chewy and savory. * Korean Style Beef Tartare (raw beef, 육회): It can be good appetizer to start. * Marinated Beef Rib (양념갈비): Even though it may not be a signature menu for the restaurant, it is tasty with its own secret sauce absorbed in the beef. I also recommend: Vegetable Stew with Beef Tripe (곱창전골): Gombawi has different style, very tasty. The broth is rich. The dish is recommended as the last menu with stir-fried rice. Prices are not moderate but the tasty dishes result it good satisfaction. Valet parking is available for comfortable visit and there are many rooms for private dining. The staffs are providing dining and grilling service who are kind and attentive.

The food is delicious and service is good, so why only 3 out of 5 stars? Because the portions are tiny and the food is overpriced. The serving size is more suitable for ants than humans. By the time you're full, you'll have spent way over 120k won. It's worth going to at least once because the food is indeed tasty, but you don't get much bang for your buck. There are way better options in this price range than this place.

We showed up after exploring Gangnam and we ended up having the best Korean BBQ of our trip. We're a family of 4 and everyone had a great time. Specially our 9-year old picky eater. The meat was well cooked, delicious and the waiters were friendly and accommodating to this foreign family of ours. Lots of smiles, good service and good food. They seemed to appreciate that we could hold our Soju. ;)

Great beef. Tripe was clean tasting and rib was very tender. Price is not cheap at all though. Charcoal grilled, they grilled the beef for us.

Excellent quality meat, side dishes, and soups. It has made the Michelin Guide consistently over the past few years for good reason. The service is slightly lacking, as is most places in South Korea, but that doesn't take away that the food is top-notch and doesn't exactly break the bank either.

A restaurant famous for beef tripe barbecue. Even though I don’t eat beef tripe, I had a piece and was surprised by the clean taste. There’s not much flavor by the nature of the cut, but the bouncy texture is addicting and goes well with the sauce. Sirloin steak was good but not the specialty. Great side dishes—white kimchi is specially made by the owner’s wife. Many commented about how much the prices went up compared to few years ago, maybe it’s the Michelin effect. Still, enjoyable meal with great service.
