A Guide To LA Restaurants Going Viral On TikTok Right Now - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Verdict: Gong Gan’s main appeal is posing with a chunky mug that looks like a cloud in front of a squiggly mirror. Most of the dessert-like drinks aren’t as sweet as they look, but this Korean cafe isn’t where you go for a purely taste-the-coffee experience. Their matcha, however, is quite nice. This periwinkle-toned Korean cafe opened in NYC before relocating to Silver Lake, and it appears no whimsy was lost in the move. Expect squiggly mirrors, blue meringue affogatos, and abstract furniture that looks like it was pulled from Jonathan Adler’s warehouse. On weekends, the place gets packed with aspiring content creators, but come weekdays, you can easily find a table for your laptop and an over-the-top beverage. Though you can order a regular latte here, it’d be a missed opportunity not to witness the elaborate concoctions baristas whip up, like an iced americano with a cap of sweet corn cream, or a soy black sesame lattes garnished with a rice cake skewer." - sylvio martins, brant cox, nicolas zhou, cathy park

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"Another NYC transplant, this Korean cafe closed its location in Queens and moved across the country to reopen in Silver Lake. The interior looks inspired by a Dr. Seuss book, and their drinks and snacks are even more eccentric. Look for  “croffles”  (croissant waffles) topped with cheese and maple syrup, a corn cream latte, persimmon milk, and yakisoba stuffed in a hot dog bun. We recently visited Gong Gan and added it to TikTok Viral Spots." - cathy park

Gong Gan - Review - Silver Lake - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Gong Gan is built for iPhones, not hardcore coffee drinkers. And that’s OK. This periwinkle-toned Korean cafe first opened in NYC before relocating to Silver Lake, and everything about seems ripe for photos, decorated with squiggly mirrors, blue meringue-topped affogatos, and abstract furniture that looks like it was pulled from Jonathan Adler’s warehouse. On weekends, the place gets packed with aspiring content creators, but come weekdays, you can easily find a table for your laptop and an over-the-top beverage. Though you can order a regular latte here, it’d be a missed opportunity not to witness the elaborate concoctions Gong Gan’s baristas whip up, like an iced americano with a cap of sweet corn cream or a soy black sesame lattes garnished with a rice cake skewer. Food Rundown Meringue Affogato This Smurf-coded drink is sweet even for an affogato. It will also turn into melted ice cream if you spend too much time taking photos of the cloud-shaped mug, so dig in while it’s cold. photo credit: Gong Gan Matchaest Our barista recommended ditching the espresso shot that comes in this drink and we agree. It’s one of the “matchaest” matcha lattes we’ve come across lately and also delicious. The natural sweetness in the creamy whisked tea shines through, and the thick matcha cream cap feels luxurious. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou Gong Gan Cream What you see is what you get: a sweet cream top with a soggy waffle iceberg floating at the top. You already know if this is for you or not. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou Corn Cream Have an aversion to sugary dessert coffees? Here ya go. This iced americano has a subtly sweet corn-flavored cream cap on top that tastes stunningly like corn bread. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou" - Sylvio Martins

Google
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow, this place is only one minute from my home and I never knew it existed! I found it on the map and decided to try it. The guy at the front was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a latte and a sweet dessert (not sure of the name) and both were super delicious. I usually drive far for good coffee, but not anymore. I’m so happy I found this café — I’ll be coming back every day!

Google
This place was delicious and a bit pricey, but well worth the amount of money that you will spend. We had their burger and french toast along with some of their choice latte, coffee, and tea. My kids loved the food as did I, I even had a little bit of spare time to get a glass of wine to partake in. They have an atmosphere that is very relaxed with vibe that says come and chill for a while with art and furniture to match their esthetic. I will definitely go back when possible and would definitely give them a look for a brunch or breakfast spot.

Google
New coffee shop in Silverlake with a fun, unique vibe! The coffee is delicious, and it’s a cute spot to work or catch up with friends. The decor is all about blue tones and dreamy clouds, which makes it extra charming. Street parking only, but worth the visit for the atmosphere and great drinks.

Simchelin G.

Google
They have very interesting and unique coffee drinks as well as Matcha drinks the drinks taste so good and look very aesthetic as well. The food was amazing. It’s a Korean-based café so the food is Korean inspired as well. It’s a bit pricey for the dishes, but what can you say about inflation. However, it’s totally worth the price to eat the food. I got the kimchi fried rice. My friend got the bento box and they were both very amazing and delicious almost as good as how well my mom makes it at home. The service is awesome, and the ambience and the decorations of this place is really pretty and very photogenic. Highly recommend coming here if you’re in Silver Lake, and want some Korean inspired dishes, and delicious drinks.

Google
Honestly, I’ve heard some mixed reviews on Gonggan so I had to go try! I came here with a friend and was honestly impressed with every single thing we tried. If you’re a matcha lover, this place is heaven. We started with the Corn Cream drink: super creamy but not overly sweet. It had that rich, nutty flavor (고소해 lovers, you know what I mean!). Then came the Strawberry Matcha: which converted my friend who only drinks americanos. The bitterness of the matcha (ceremonial grade too!) balanced so well with the tangy, sweet strawberry layer. SO good. My personal favorite was “The Matcha Croffle.”It was decadent, but again, not cloyingly sweet. I literally used a spoon to scoop up the leftover cream and ice cream. No shame. 😂 We also tried the Brioche French Toast with Burrata, which somehow manages to be sweet and savory in the best way. The burrata was fluffy and the syrup brought it all together like a fancy brunch dish you’d expect at a high-end restaurant. The Gonggan Latte is a must-try if you like cream-topped espresso drinks. Their cream is different! lighter, smoother, and super well-paired with the bold espresso. And here’s the kicker: they serve alcohol! Their housemade soju highballs are a game changer. We tried the Korean Melon and Plum!! both super refreshing and not too strong, perfect if you’re not into straight soju. The space is clean, and aesthetically pleasing with great natural lighting. Perfect for your instagram update 🤣🤣 for a Saturday lunch, I really didn’t wait for so long to order or to get my food! Street parking is available, but it’s metered, so keep that in mind. Gonggan is definitely going into my regular rotation. Whether you’re here for matcha, brunch, or just a vibey place to sip and chat♥️ they’ve got you covered.

Google
Absolutely delicious! Best kimchi fried rice I’ve ever had. The arugula, egg and avocado just makes it a game changing dish. I’ll be thinking about this kimchi fried rice a lot. 😋 Strawberry French toast was insanely scrumptious along with their corn latte and mango drink! 😋😋 Run, don’t walk, to Gong Gan!! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Google
Gong Gan is such a beautiful and welcoming space in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is calm, thoughtfully designed, and perfect whether you’re meeting friends, studying, or just enjoying some quiet time. The drinks are excellent — carefully prepared, balanced, and consistently high quality. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely make you feel at home. Every visit feels relaxing and enjoyable, and it’s clear how much care goes into creating this experience. Gong Gan has become one of my favorite spots in LA, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place that combines great coffee, great service, and an inspiring environment.

Google
One of the most Instagrammable cafés in LA! Loved the sweet service the corn latte wasn’t my favorite, but that’s just personal taste. I’ll definitely be back to try the new menu. The design and aesthetics are absolutely stunning.

Yelp
New cafe in Silverlake! Really beautiful interior design that's so unique. Everything is mismatched in the best way possible The drinks are also amazing. They have Korean inspired flavors like injeolmi, black sesame, and corn lattes. Personally would recommend the corn and gonggan cream, their signature drink. I love their espresso as well - it's the nutty kind that goes perfectly with lattes. All the workers are so sweet and cute. They are very accommodating and open to feedback. They only have street parking available so would recommend coming early! Definitely a must go cafe in LA :)
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Parking: they do not have any designated lot parking!! The lots next to the cafe on both sides are not for the cafe, you can be towed! The barista said it's only street parking; you'll definitely have to walk a bit. Drinks: drinks are $7-8, the corn cream latte is not too sweet. The base latte does not come with sweetener, the cream top is slightly sweet and decadent; once mixed it's a good balance. The nut cream is also great, it's even less sweeter than the corn cream. Ambiance: it's very crowded! The line was out the door on a Sunday at 2 pm. We patiently waited outside with others bc the shop is packed inside. Some other patrons tried to cut my boyfriend and I because they didn't want to wait outside! It's also extremely loud, they offer wifi for work but everyone is yelling almost. The music is lofi/slow pop (wave to earth, Keshi, etc), but otherwise impossible to hear. They had plenty of seating but every table was taken up.

Yelp
Waited around d 20-30 minutes in line on a Monday.. Parking was a bit difficult since street parking is limited. Be careful of parking in random plazas because they will tow you. I got the corn latte. It was very good! Tastes like a classic corn latte in Korea. I just thought the portion was really tiny for the price. Paid $16 for 2 drinks in tiny cups seems a bit unreasonable. It's good just expensive. P,S, the to-go cups seem to be smaller in size than the dine in cups

Yelp
My new favorite Korean café around! Not only do they have lattes, they also have non-caffeinated beverages, food (kimchi fried rice, yakisoba hotdog, croissant bun burger, apple salad), croffles (croissant waffles), and French toasts. [ Parking / Wait / Pet friendly] There's a small parking lot right next to the café, but honestly not worth trying at all. It'll be easier to find street parking and walk over. I came on a Monday holiday day off and the line was roughly 30 minutes. The cafe just opened though, so expect long lines! There are plenty of seats inside for groups, but they could also take a while especially when people are catching up with their friends. There are a couple seats outdoor as well if all the seats inside are full. Dog friendly café that provides treats for your pups! Huge plus in my books since my pup loves to explore the world with me. [ Drinks ] I just got back from trying a new café everyday in Korea and I can safely say these drinks are really comparable. Corn cream -- corn milk, corn cream, espresso, corn crumble. If you've had Harucake's corn latte, then you'll definitely enjoy this drink and I think it actually tastes better here. If you're looking for a less creamy version of this drink, then you can order Corn Americano instead. Black sesame latte (added espresso) -- black sesame cream, black sesame powder, red bean rice cakes, soy milk. Surprised this drink didn't come with espresso already since black sesame lattes are super popular in Korea. Sweetness level is perfect in this drink, but I'm not sure if it's because I added espresso or it was just not too sweet to begin with. Either way, I would highly recommend adding espresso to this drink! Also love how this drink comes with soy milk for those of us who are lactose intolerant.

Yelp
OhhhMyyyGawddd!!! This place is amazing in almost every aspect!! The corn cream was delicious!! I have tried so many places. This was like the perfect cup. No adjustment needed. The cream was amazing! The coffee was perfect! It was strong, but not bitter. Sooo good!! Meringue affogato was yummy as well. Everything paired so well. Creamy ice cream. The espresso was the perfect amount of strong lol without a bitter/sour aftertaste. The meringue cookie was pretty sweet. However, it was somewhat addicting lol Such a cute place. I for sure will return to try the other items. Customers service was great. Very nice! The only issue here was the parking. Really difficult to find a spot. Also, it gets pretty busy so they might run out of seats.

Yelp
Gong Gan: A Unique Blend of Flavors and Atmosphere Gong Gan is not just a café--it's a culinary destination combining artistic vibes with innovative and delicious eats. My recent visit offered a glimpse into this spot's creativity and flavor. #### Drinks: A Delightful Start The coffee menu is a standout, featuring rich, perfectly brewed blends that satisfy any coffee lover's craving. If coffee isn't your thing, their selection of beverages promises to cater to varied tastes, ensuring a refreshing experience for everyone. #### French Toast and Croffle: Sweet Morning Bliss The French toast was a dream--soft, buttery, and topped with just the right amount of sweetness. But the croffle deserves a special mention. This genius combination of croissant and waffle offers the best of both worlds, boasting a crispy exterior with layers of buttery goodness inside. #### Savory Favorites: Yakisoba Dog & Kimchi Fried Rice On the savory side, the **yakisoba dog** is a creative and delicious fusion, packing stir-fried noodle goodness into a fluffy bun--a bold choice that absolutely pays off. Meanwhile, the **kimchi fried rice** is a flavor-packed comfort food, with the perfect balance of heat and tang, paired with a satisfying fried egg on top. #### Overall Experience The thoughtful presentation of the dishes and cozy ambiance of Gong Gan make it a perfect spot to relax or meet up with friends. Whether you're craving something sweet, savory, or just need a great drink, Gong Gan has something exciting to offer. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!

Yelp
went to the soft opening. had an injermi latte with an espresso shot and the matcha croffle. injermi (injeolmi) is a korean soybean powder that's a comforting taste to me. they use soy milk for this latte which i appreciate. i was hoping to get some savory food here. i'm vegetarian, so i hope they add some savory vegetarian options in the future. they were working out some kinks during their soft opening. they only had one menu. but the staff was friendly. the space is bright and cute. the custom audio cabinet with mother of pearl is one of the dopest pieces of furniture ever.
google avatar

Hyewon K.

Yelp
Went during their last soft opening and the line was out the door. Service was very pleasant and helpful. They gave us a free strawberry latte because one of our drinks came out later than the rest. We went around 12pm and they were out of matcha which was disappointing. The black sesame latte was yummy and the corn cream was very flavorful and rich. Overall, I wouldn't wait in line to pay $8 for a drink that is the size of my palm.

Ava C.

Yelp
food n drinks were ok nothing new to the area. soft opening so ig their decor isnt done yet the place is a lil dark. five stars cause service was awesome. quick. cute girlies. i was there when the crazy chick came in and spit on the ground and started yelling LOL but the manager (i think) did a great job deescalating the situation and escorting her out and calling the police. and fhey were very apologetic which they didnt have to be. silverlake be crazy sometimes. LOL gam: 5/10 sweet milk. burger: croissant was nothing special. patty not tender. strawberry french toast: not better than anything else i'd get around here. i'd get a diff one next time

Yelp
The service, food, and drinks were excellent! My boyfriend and I ordered the super berry and mang lon drinks, both were really good, but the mang lon was personally my fav. We also ordered the kimchi fried rice and burger, both were yummy! Also like the aesthetic of the Cafe! Sorry, didn't take a picture of the burger...bf ate it before I can take a picture.

Yelp
Modern, chic, aesthetic and new age. It's an artistic experience. A well thought out concept that's unique and reels you in. The customer service is on point. From the moment you walk through the door, while enjoying your meringue affogato with injermi infused vanilla ice cream topped croffle sitting in the eclectic decor till the moment you exit. Everything offered has been carefully chosen from the Gong Gan Cream to Corn Cream to Gosu Ade to Strawberry French Toast to Gong Gan Kimchi Fried Rice. It's an homage to Korean culture and tradition. Be ready to be amazed. Definitely a must visit.

Hannah K.

Yelp
I just found my new favorite cafe in Silverlake! The space is beautifully designed--bright, airy, and full of character. Each table and chair has a different design, giving the place a fun, eclectic vibe. It's the kind of spot that feels effortlessly cool yet still warm and inviting. And OMG, the corn cream latte is unreal--it's a must-try! On top of that, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everyone I interacted with was attentive, kind, and happy to help with recommendations if you're undecided. It's a fun place to hang out with friends. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Pascual E.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! Large, creative variety of caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages, we had to order an extra round to go since they were sooo good! They also have cafe desserts and savory bites. Quick, attentive service and a chill atmosphere to hang out in (indoor and outdoor seating available). Definitely will recommend this place to all my friends!
google avatar

Nana T.

Yelp
Whimsical, cute interior makes for a wonderfully comfortable environment! Beautiful decorations. Amazing vibe from the staff on top of their outstandingly kind and helpful customer service. The food was not too sweet in the best ways possible, and worth the visit. Would recommend the croffles for sure. Looking forward to exploring more of their menu in the future!
google avatar

Snow Y.

Yelp
The ambience for this place is very nice. The big blue stereo they have is super cute. The employees here are so nice and welcoming when you enter. I got the Injeolmi Latte, Black Sesame Latte, and the Injeolmi Croffle. Both drinks are very good and taste exactly like how the tteok would. The croffle was warm and flaky. It had a nice crisp sound when cutting into it. Overall, I'll be coming back and trying more tasty treats here!

Eunice J.

Yelp
Best Korean cafe in LA! The cafe is so cute and aesthetic. They have so many drink options and the prices are pretty cheap compared to other cafes. The corn latte had the perfect level of sweetness and the super berry ade was so good and refreshing. Not only do they have good drinks but their desserts were soo good. Their French toast was very soft and the cream and topping on top paired really well together. The warm and crispy croffle complemented so well with the ice cream on top as well. They have really good service and I love that they can customize your drinks upon request. Their drink sizes are perfect and prices are so reasonable. I definitely want to come back to try other foods on their menu!
google avatar

Hyun K.

Yelp
First of all, I've been to all the cafes in Koreatown, and the prices here are so reasonable. I had an affogato for $10 at a cafe in K-town, but here it's only $8! Plus, while signature drinks at other cafes in Silver Lake are over $10, every drink here is under $8. Secondly, I loved that they had sweet drink options and so many choices! The ability to customize with syrups was also great. The corn latte was especially delicious, and the croffle was so crispy and tasty, probably because it was served fresh. Lastly, the line was super long, but overall, I think it was worth it! I'll definitely come back again once the line gets shorter!
google avatar

Yelp
I like to try new restaurants and cafes so when I saw a big line outside so I decided to stop and try. Gong Gan did not disappoint. The atmosphere was so alive with the good music and conversations being had inside. The service was great with kind and attentive people. The furniture and decorations were fun and I was happy to see outdoor seating as well. And of course the drink was delicious. I got the number 1, Gong Gan Cream. I loved that they included a waffle which complemented the cream and some sort of nut bits well. 10/10 would go again.

Erin Y.

Yelp
New Korean cafe on Sunset with great vibes/interior decor and drinks! It's a cafe during the day and transitions to a wine bar at night. On first impression, it's just really so cute inside. Vibes are immaculate Drinks: I tried the corn cream which was absolutely DELICIOUS. I also tried the mang lon which was like a spritz with mango/melon bits, (it was so refreshing and fruity, highly recommend if you're in the mood for a more fizzy drink). I genuinely don't think you can go wrong with any of the other drink choices though, they all look delicious (like the injermi and black sesame) and I had a hard time choosing. Food: There are a lot of choices for croffles and French toast. I personally enjoyed the black sesame and pig bar! Service: The service was 10/10 and the employees are really welcoming! They also seemed to be super welcoming of pets, as they offered free treats for the doggos Parking: metered street parking only! Overall, great addition to the silver lake community and a really cute place to catch up with friends

Rachel S.

Yelp
For someone who loves going to cafes and trying out new ones this one was on my list. Their Gong gan cream was great especially as someone who doesn't like super sweet drinks, it didn't feel overpowering at all. I also got their injeolmi croffle and I was surprised with the size of it. Personally I feel like for the price you get a recent size. I got full from eating this! And again not too sweet which I loved. The interior speaks for itself. You can tell the owners put a great deal of thought into the decorations, cups, plates, and ambiance so that everything seamlessly builds off each other. All the staff is super friendly and are willing to help and recommend things off the menu if you're having a hard time picking. One thing to note is that yes there is a line from it going viral on IG but it goes by a lot faster than it seems.

Priscilla P.

Yelp
Newest, trendiest, and best coffee shop in LA! Such a cute spot with korean aesthetic, and their drinks are amazing! My personal favorites were the Gosu Ade (cilantro ade) Must try it!! and the corn latte. Even though it was super busy, the staff was so friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be returning soon! :)

Jayce M.

Yelp
Amazing interior and staff and even better drinks and food! My friend and I got the black sesame latte and injermi latte to try together and we both loved the cream and mochi that came with each drink (the mochi is so good when you dip it with the cream). The French toast is amazing too and the presentation is very aesthetic for pictures. I think the injermi croffle might have been my favorite because it was not too sweet and the texture of the croffle itself was light and fluffy and crispy when you first cut into it. Definitely recommend the black sesame latte and their croffles and can't wait to come back to try more of their items.

Rose L.

Yelp
It's the newest, hottest cafe located in Silver Lake. The drinks and food all live up to the hype. So yummy and cheap compared to other cafes in LA. Would definitely come back not just for their great taste and quality but for their excellent service!! All the workers were so kind and made sure the customers' needs were met no matter how busy it was.

Shannon Y.

Yelp
Food looked amazing and tasted even better. The team was especially friendly, welcome addition to the Silverlake community. The space is warm and inviting. Great space for fun casual conversations.

Rebecca Y.

Yelp
Gong gan just became my favorite cafe of all time! Drinks are not too sweet and is just perfect. If there are those who want sweeter tho, can always ask to adjust it. The corn latte is the BEST. I love corn and I love coffee and it just makes so much sense. I dream about it. The interior is so detailed. There was a line out the door the whole time and was so busy! Staff are so friendly and I could tell they really care about the quality of their drinks and food. They also provide pup treats and have water bowls for pets outside as well!! WILL BE BACK! 10/10!!!!

Chris H.

Yelp
Drinks: 5/5 I ordered the corn latte and my friend ordered the Gong Gan latte. Both were not too sweet at all and I prefer black americanos. Great coffee taste with a subtle sweetness for the corn latte. Food: 5/5 Ordered a waffle to share and it came out perfectly fluffy. Not much to add for a waffle. Customer Service: 5/5 The line was long as expected due to it just being open. However, they had servers provide cups of water outside while we waited. Cleanliness: 5/5 Obviously clean since it's a new spot, but the layout and interior design/ambiance were all in sync. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back to try their entrees next time!

Kate C.

Yelp
my new favorite cafe in los angeles! if you've ever wondered what cafes are like in korea, this is the place to visit. not only does the aesthetic stand out from all the new arising cafes in la, they have the best corn latte which i recommend everyone try atleast once. the matcha croffle is also delicious i highly recommend!

Yelp
everything at gonggan always blows me away. we got the corn cream latte, melon lon, and strawberry french toast. the service was great for how busy and packed they were. cant wait to go back !!!

Ethan K.

Yelp
Just passed by it and stopped to check it out cause it seemed to have just opened today-- really cool spot with a lot of drink options and photogenic croffles! I didn't want to drink coffee so late in the day so I appreciated the non-caffeinated options. I got the podo drink and my friend got the mang lon. Both tasted phenomenal I was actually pretty taken aback. Staff was super friendly and receptive to feedback, and the interior decoration was really vibey. It's clear they paid a lot of attention to the details of the design. Would recommend everyone to check it out!

Hana O.

Yelp
The atmosphere is good, the taste is good, the service is good, and the color of the store building is pretty! The corn cream in the coffee and croffle are just my style. Please stop by!!!
