"Gong Gan is built for iPhones, not hardcore coffee drinkers. And that’s OK. This periwinkle-toned Korean cafe first opened in NYC before relocating to Silver Lake, and everything about seems ripe for photos, decorated with squiggly mirrors, blue meringue-topped affogatos, and abstract furniture that looks like it was pulled from Jonathan Adler’s warehouse. On weekends, the place gets packed with aspiring content creators, but come weekdays, you can easily find a table for your laptop and an over-the-top beverage. Though you can order a regular latte here, it’d be a missed opportunity not to witness the elaborate concoctions Gong Gan’s baristas whip up, like an iced americano with a cap of sweet corn cream or a soy black sesame lattes garnished with a rice cake skewer. Food Rundown Meringue Affogato This Smurf-coded drink is sweet even for an affogato. It will also turn into melted ice cream if you spend too much time taking photos of the cloud-shaped mug, so dig in while it’s cold. photo credit: Gong Gan Matchaest Our barista recommended ditching the espresso shot that comes in this drink and we agree. It’s one of the “matchaest” matcha lattes we’ve come across lately and also delicious. The natural sweetness in the creamy whisked tea shines through, and the thick matcha cream cap feels luxurious. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou Gong Gan Cream What you see is what you get: a sweet cream top with a soggy waffle iceberg floating at the top. You already know if this is for you or not. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou Corn Cream Have an aversion to sugary dessert coffees? Here ya go. This iced americano has a subtly sweet corn-flavored cream cap on top that tastes stunningly like corn bread. photo credit: Nicolas Zhou" - Sylvio Martins
