"On average, the dim sum specialties coming out of this Richmond bakery are about the size of a mini bowling ball. Especially the baked barbecue pork bun, which has a nice jammy filling that we would gladly eat by the spoonful. Walk in with $10 cash, and you’ll be on your way in under five minutes, weighed down with a bag full of still-warm steamed things that’ll keep you full well into the day. Service is efficient, so don’t let the line deter you." - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong
"The line at Good Luck Dim Sum tends to snake down Clement most mornings, and almost everyone is here for—you guessed it—pork buns. The baked versions are the size of an outstretched adult hand. These could almost classify as dessert, thanks to the sugary filling and sticky glaze on the outside. Grab a few, plus whatever else looks freshest out of the big steamers (read: everything), and take your treats to nearby Golden Gate Park for a picnic." - julia chen 1, patrick wong
"According to our very accurate calculations, the dim sum specialties at this counter-service Chinese bakery are the size of a mini bowling ball. Meaty pork siu mai, huge fried sesame balls, and pork buns with jammy fillings draw crowds. Given the generous portions, you’ll walk out of here filled up, and for under $10. Service is also efficient, so don’t let the line deter you. Once to the front, pick from treats loaded in the pastry case or big metal steamers, and be on your way. Also, it’s cash only." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
"You’ll know Good Luck Dim Sum by the line of customers that typically spills out of the doorway and trails down Clement Street. It’s a cash-only outfit and alarmingly efficient: you’ll want to grab one of the paper menus and circle the items you want. Everything is pretty affordable — think $4 for three chive dumplings with shrimp or three pork siu mai or three sesame balls. They’ll bundle it all up into plastic containers and plastic bags and send you on your way. Take the haul to either Golden Gate Park or Baker Beach for good views of the Golden Gate Bridge." - Paolo Bicchieri
"It's easy to spend an entire day in Golden Gate Park, a.k.a. the city's crown jewel. Before you head in, swing by Good Luck Dim Sum in the Richmond for some sustenance. There might be a line at the tiny dim sum spot, but it moves quickly. Once you’re at the front, fill up a container with pork buns the size of a baby’s head, siu mai, egg tarts, and more treats, and take them with you to eat in a sunny patch of grass." - julia chen 1, patrick wong, ricky rodriguez
