The Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants in New York and New Jersey

"Goo Gong Tan specializes in seafood, and the barbecued clams are a standout. Whole clams are positioned on the grill slats, where they slowly open up, frothing with broth. At that point, the servers reach in with tongs, remove one of the shells, and return the shucked clam on the half shell over the flame. There’s so much more to the seafood grill menu: clams, scallops, shrimp, and mussels topped with gochujang." - Caroline Shin, Robert Sietsema

19 Standout Korean Restaurants in Murray Hill, Queens

"With its expertise in grilled shellfish, Goo Gong Tan expands the concept of Korean barbecue. Whole clams are placed on the grill slats, where they slowly open up. The liqueur starts frothing at which point the servers pick up each clam with gloved hands and shuck them open with tongs like Edward Scissorhands before placing them on the cooler, outer edges of the grill. There’s so much more to the grilled seafood menu: clams, scallops and mussels topped with a gochujang seasoning and shrimp, too. Pair those with fried dumpling squares with extra crispy edges and a crackly wrapper. It’s a dark, casual hangout kind of spot, so bring friends to share your soju." - Caroline Shin

Yelp
Had dinner reservations here on a weekend night around 5pm. Safe to say it's pretty much empty before 6pm which is nice. They have a bunch of seafood options to choose from which is nice. Also have your typical meats if you're looking to order those as well. The staff is helpful and very efficient when helping with grilling. Keep in mind it does get much busier when the dinner and after dinner drinks rush comes in.

Yelp
My friend and I came here last month, hoping to get some raw crab that we saw on Yelp! Unfortunately, they don't have that on the menu, but the spicy version is given as a banchan. We decided to get combo #3 which came with clams, mussels, shrimp, smaller clams, and an udon dish. I really only enjoyed the big clams - everything else was okay. I didn't like the special sauce, it was really overpowering and fresh seafood definitely doesn't need that much sauce on it! We also did not eat the udon, which was smothered in the same sauce. The spicy raw crab was also disappointing, even as a free banchan! The crabs were super small and had no meat so we were really just eating the spicy sauce. This could be a good drinking spot but I wouldn't come back solely for the seafood.

Yelp
Underrated grilled clams in Flushing! The clams here are huge and juicy. My bf pro tip is to save all the clam juice and pour it into the udon, you'll be amazed at how the flavors come together! The richness of the clam juice adds an incredible depth to the broth.

Yelp
Quality of food was pretty good. Service was pretty bad though. Very inattentive and we had to ask multiple times for refill of water and we also had to ask for kimchi. When we wanted more kimchi servers pointed to the kimchi (barely any) on our table. Overall food was pretty good, it was also pricey, but service wasn't the best

Yelp
#2 modum jogae - 2 clam shells, 2 mussels, 2 shells w/ special sauce $43 #16 somak chang - beef intestines - $30 Sojus $13 each FANTASTIC food experience! Ive never had grilled clams or large intestines so this was super amazing. We ordered the above things and the soup and steamed egg came with every table. The rice is $ add on. Once the clams had their juices boiling, they would open. Thats when u know it was ready to eat. They serve it with gochujang and another spicy sauce. The standout dish for me was the beef instetsives. My friend reced that bc he think the small intestines are too chewy. They sauteed on high heat on another table bc it takes long for us to grill solo and then placed the final platter on our grill. BOYYYYYY omg my first bite was frigging divine. DIVINE. I LOVE TEXTURE and this was GOLD. I took the pickled jalapeños, piece of intestines and dunked it in sesame oil and BOoom!!! It was part salty, chewy, tart, crunchy, umami, everything. Another tip my friend recd was to take a shot of soju and then do that whole combo bite above. That's even better bc he said the solution cleanses the palette This was a great experience. It is worth to go again

Yelp
I had high expectation when I arrived at the restaurant because the decoration/set up is like a restaurant you would see on kdrama. But when the food came, I was disappointed. Because we ordered 1 portion of three different meat, they wouldn't let us grill at the table. Also, the portion was a little small, but quite expensive. Not a lot of ban chan as well.

Yelp
A friend of a friend recommended this for authentic Korean food, particularly the clams! There's photos with all the dishes on the menu so everything is very clear. My party of 5 ordered 5 dishes to share and some soju! My favorite was the samgyupsal (pork belly) and the beef wraps, which they provide leaves and sauces for you to make them with! These two come already cooked. The seafood platter we got had scallops, clams, and mussels which was enough for one per person. I wasn't blown away by this in particular - they came and were cooked to your liking on the grill. We also got a buddajigae which is the army stew - always a hit! A medley of veggies, tofu, ramen, mushroom, sausage, etc in a hot soup is a winner. The seafood pancake was nothing special to me, a carb to feel full! Everything ranged from $30-40 per dish, but again very shareable. The chairs you sit on open up so that can you can store your bag or coat so the bbq smell doesn't permeate it - ingenious!

Yelp
I have been to this place few times in the past. But recently I was there last week, the service has gone down quite a bit. The two waiters basically just sat there and on their phone the whole time. Also reluctantly to provide any services while the clams platter was cooking.

Yelp
Not quite sure what happened to this place but I don't think I'll be going back. I may have heard that there was an ownership change. Anyways, here's a summary of the night. We ordered 3 orders of thick pork belly and a seafood platter. We probably sat at the table for 20 minutes with the burner on but with no food to cook. Then all of a sudden, the waiter comes by dropping off fully cooked pork without even giving us any rice, sides, etc. There was no mention that they were even going to bring it out. I had to go and flag the waiter down and ask for all of these in addition to why our seafood wasn't cooked first. He didn't have a good reason other than 'we just did it that way'. And why not cook the pork on our table instead at another table? To me, it looked like they forgot to cook the seafood at our table and tried to cover it over. Overall, service was absolutely terrible (the waiters didn't care one bit) and they definitely changed the pork bellyas the quality wasn't the same as it used to be. We left still hungry. Lastly, the music was terrible and loud. I would avoid - there are way better places in the area.

Yelp
One of my favorite kbbq spots. They have lots of seafood options. I usually go with scallops. They have a sauce on top and cheese. I'm lactose intolerant so I just pick off the cheese before it melts. The kalbi is marinated to perfection. The pork belly practically melts in your mouth! It was so good, last minute we got a second order. They cooked everything except the scallops before putting it on the grill on our table. We got the kimchi jjigae with pork belly instead of tuna and it was amazing! The kimchi and the pork belly made for a perfect combination. It was pretty spicy though... would probably ask for it to be less spicy next time. Service is great, the waiters are all very nice and attentive. It gets pretty busy for dinner time.

Yelp
First time here and already know I'll be coming back, but only downside is that items are a little overpriced. Wouldn't come here for grilled meat because of the price but their other cooked items are delicious! Tons of soup options, highly recommend the clam noodle soup - the little pieces of dough/"noodle" are so chewy and goes so well with the pepper-y clam soup. If you're adventurous, the beef intestines are a must get too! Vibe feels just like you're at a local pocha in Korea. Spacious and didn't have a wait on a Saturday night. Huge plus - food came out quickly!
google avatar

Yelp
Mediocre and a little overpriced. The seafood combo turned out bigger than we expected it to be. The clams were good. The servers open it for you once the clams start opening themselves, but you gotta be careful before they start over cooking. The marinaded scallops were really good, but wasn't a huge fan of the mussels. Wouldn't really recommend the bbq meats though. They're a little overpriced. We got a small plate of brisket for $30 and kalbi for about the same. The complimentary kimchi soup + egg soufflé hit the spot though. Saw a lot of reviews about poor service, but I thought they were pretty nice and attentive.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
The seafood combo with mussels and clams were really good but we had a hard time grilling them. I wish they provided some sort of glove to help with dealing with the hot clams. My friends who don't really like seafood ordered other meat and they were pretty solid too! As much as I would love to eat a meal here- this place is definitely a "second stop" kinda place where you can enjoy soju and some simple dishes to eat while you drink

Yelp
I really like the free side dishes that come with our BBQ. We had sliced conch with gochujang, gyeranjjim (steamed eggs), stew and salad. Everything was good. I liked the seafood combo (huge clams, fresh scallops on the shell, small but fresh mussels, snow crab legs and shrimp). The snow crab leg and shrimps are cooked separately in a pan of butter. The meat selection was also pretty good (Recommend: Kalbi, thick pork belly, beef tongue). We also ordered the seafood pancake which came pretty loaded with seafood. Not sure what was going on but oil kept splattering up and around, causing us to jump from our seats. Best to sit in a table that doesn't have a wall against your back. Service was good and bad, couple of times they spilled stuff on us, forgot sauces here and there, but overall our main server did his best to accommodate us. Goo Gong Tan is conveniently located near the Murray Hill stop on the LIRR station. Parking is a little hard to find, so maybe just take public transportation. I think this is a great place to go with a group, so you can try everything. Price is a little more expensive than your norm, but food was pretty solid.

Rong L.

Yelp
Used to love this restaurant as a must go place to hangout with friends and have some soju, but a little disappointed tonight. Server was not welcoming. Asked if any dish with cheese, and he said none, sounds like he doesn't even care at all, later when we pointed out there is a spicy ramen with cheese. Compared to when we dine in before, service quality definitely had decreased and would not recommend to go back again.

Julie L.

Yelp
Absolutely am in love with their grilled clams and scallops set. Pairs really well with some soju and beer. If you need a casual place to catch up with a friend, this is the place to go. The service is exceptionally fast when you go before late night dinner.

Yelp
Great food, really really bad service. Wasn't busy at all, servers were disinterested, the food was burning. I've been here before and know the deal but these two servers really made the whole dining experience negative. If they had been just slightly more attentive, would've been 5 stars.
google avatar

Sylvia S.

Yelp
If you are getting sick of Korean BBQ with pork and beef, this place offer amazing seafood bbq! The combo comes with steamed eggs and clear soup which made us ordering more soju!!!! The service were attentive, they kept checking on us and brought everything we needed. We also ordered so many other things, they were also great.

Sung A.

Yelp
Service is very lacking or non existent. They don't ask you if you need anything or come by your table at all. All the servers are either busy talking to themselves or smoking outside. Alao they dont seem to clean the bbq pit everyday. I walked in when they just opened and the gas grill pit was full of leftover food bits from previous night. And you know what that usually means. Food is okay. I give them that. You just have to cook everything yourself.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Not bad if a place. Unfortunately we didn't get to cook our own food but overall the food quality was good. The wait staff were pretty friendly. The place offers an authentic Korean BBQ experience which was amazing. The dollar to value you get is a little skewed, $32 for 6 small pieces of steak is a bit much so they do need to work on their pricing.
google avatar

Jane K.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and I loved it! The interior is nothing special. Seems pretty cheap and bar like but the food was great! We ordered a serving of pork belly and an order of the wang jogae. It was a lot of food! The service was great. They cooked everything for us and we didn't have to do a thing. I would definitely recommend this place to anything who is craving grilled bbq or seafood.

Yelp
It's official, Korean seafood grills like this should only be visited to drink THEN to eat. I made the mistake of visiting just for the food and I thought it was just OK. This place kinda had the same feel as Sik Gaek a few blocks away. The food: Haemul Pajun- Seafood pancake. I thought the one here was good. I thought the seafood flavor was nice and I enjoyed the crispiness of the pancake. I would get this again. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5ngZttMP2WfIiHTevRHpGg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Hang Jung Sal- Pork jowl BBQ. This was pretty good but I was expecting it to be sexier. It was just OK, I was expecting it to be fattier and more tender. The flavor was alright. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CFY14F5I-Ha3z-6GET-KwQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Wang JoGae- scallop, clams, whelk, mussels, clams w/ special sauce and small seafood-udon. This was a big ass seafood grill and I was kinda disappointed. The flavor of the seafood was on the mild side, it was basic grilled seafood but the seafood was lacking in flavor. I did enjoy the clams since they were really fresh, but everything else was kinda boring. The seafood udon I did not like. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=d8gnirvNJiB2zJd78EFdOg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA

Yelp
Pros (1) Quite possibly the best gopchang in Flushing (2) Lots of seafood choices on menu (3) Korea-like atmosphere (4) Fun place to drink and BBQ (5) No wait on weekends Cons (1) Paid $169.22, including drinks and tip, for three people

T P.

Yelp
10/10 experience The food was great and I loved the layout of the restaurant The atmosphere was very nice The owner stopped by our table and bought us a bottle of soju, will definitely be returning

Yelp
The food is very tasty and fresh. The service is very attentive. The marinated beef is the best!!! Would love to go back.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Place is small. Tables are round for fit of 2-3, 4 will be tight and if you have a bigger party then 4, they will bump the round table next to each other. Not comfy! Not much choice here. Complimentary come with three dish, a kimchi soup, a steam egg and salad. Seafood isn't that fresh especially those mussels! $22- Oyster was filled in with Tabasco sauce. No one liked it. It was a waste!! Beef or Pork bbq didn't come with fresh lettuce to wrap. The seafood pancake was soft and tasteless. Choose here to eat cuz of the good reviews. Not very trustworthy reviews!!
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
Food was very mediocre. Seafood pancake was super thick and not crispy. We also ordered the short ribs and the meat came grilled and in tiny little cubes about 15 pieces tops. Definitely was not worth the money. We also ordered the dubboki with ramen and that plate arrived cold! It was disgusting. The seating arrangements are just impractical. No table space and uncomfortable hard stools to sit on. Service was terrible and unfriendly.

Yelp
I will start by saying that I had dine at the previous location which was 2 stores down from the new location. I am not sure if the same management is here but based on my poor experience with the waiter, I say this is new management. We walked in at 6pm, the place was empty we were seated right away. The decor is no frills, they kept the same seating pattern to the previous location except that the seats are now a bit more comfortable and the location is lit better. I noticed the exhaust hoods were hanging from the ceiling but they were not on. We sat and order 2 orders of the marinated kalbi on the bone, an order of the pork belly, but they were no side dishes as I usually would get at other Korean restaurants. The waiter was not engaging at all, when asked questions he seemed uninterested and inattentive. I inquired about what types of beers they had and he whispered Obi and kept taking our order. It took a while for the drinks to come out, we received 2 small pitcher of water that were never refilled, the table of 4 got a small salad that would normally be good for 2 people. Of course we asked for more salad and he took a while to bring it. On the third time my wife asked for salad, we asked him to bring more salad when he get a chance. His immediate replied loud and clear was "I don't have a chance" His moronic cocky attitude clearly expressed his sincere lack of respect. Due to the fact we were celebrating a family event, I did not say much other to reiterate that he bring us more salad. I can tell you, that I will no longer be a customer at this restaurant. Obviously I was not the only table having a problem with the same waiter. I did not make a big deal that the exhaust fans were working but the table next to me expressed their disgust with the fact the fans were not working to the point that they argued loudly over the same thing for a couple of minutes. We noticed a couple walking out due to the fact that the smoke from the bbq was so much it was foggy inside the restaurant. It is a shame that the business owner is not concerned about losing customers and that he would hire staff that is not genuinely concerned about the needs of the customer. This is one of those times I wish I spoke Korean so that I could give this guy the 3rd degree in his own language. Overall the food was good, but the lack of service and the extreme level of rudeness takes away from the experience. My dear business owner, please congratulate your staff, as you have lost a good customer. Please remind your staff that they are doing a fantastic job to make sure future revenue and customers base decreases!
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
First i noticed was tables were very small but thats never the deciding factor for me. The waiter seemed very annoyed when we were deciding what to order. He seemed impatient and took a deep breath and flexed hands while we were deciding what to order. Safe to say i will not return to this restaurant. There are many other options in the neighborhood. I canceled the last order and left the restaurant early.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Perfect for a casual night out over delicious korean food and soju. The workers are very welcoming and I always have a great time when I'm there. Food is fairly cheap considering that the portions are pretty big.
google avatar

Thomas L.

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurant experiences we've had in a long time. Totally different than your usual grilled Kalbi or AYCE experience. It's a small restaurant with tables that resemble ash can grills from old Korea. Very limited table space. We started with spicy seafood ttukpoggi, then grilled seafood, and ended with kalbi. We got steamed egg and sashimi as a free service to start. If you want great food with a great experience away from your usual Korean restaurant, this is worth the drive to Flushing.

Yelp
Extreme Belly pain and heavy diarrhea next day . I visited twice , I can be sure now . This restaurant is one of the latest night spot in the area . First time I ordered seafood combo, beef tongue and thin beef(forget what part), with regular side, and I asked for pepper garlic ,they gave me picked pepper and garlic and normal green pepper and garlic . Everything is well cooked .(even overdone) The garlic and pepper were normal spicy . I had this meal at around 4am,Next day noon I woke up in the sleep with extreme belly pain..... it last about few hours ,and getting better after diarrhea . But I thought I ate something wrong ,maybe the seafood ect. , bc I never had this with korean bbq before. Well ,after about few days later, I was looking for late night meal again . I came to this restaurant again, avoided seafood combo. I ordered beef short rib , pork jowl , came with regular side , and ask for pepper and garlic . They gave me picked one and normal one again. It's good with meat. I felt fine first after meal, and six hours later , Belly pain , diarrhea ,came again, even the pain level is similar ,emmmmm. I ate nothing beside water after last meal,so I'm 100% is something wrong with this spot. And in my guess ,suspect 1 is the pickled pepper and garlic ,i have been to most of korean bbq in this area, most of them provide pepper and garlic ,only few of them are picked. And no everyone will ask for them . Just my guesses .

Yelp
Great ambience and service, good food, just like other Korean spots around Murray Hill. We walked in on a Saturday night with 8 people and were seated right away. The atmosphere was fun with kpop music blasting in the background. We got a dish of sliced abalone, steamed eggs and salad on the house. We ordered two sets of marinated Galbi and two sets of the Seafood Combo number 3 I think, Budae jiage and a couple of other dishes. The meat and seafood were high quality and very fresh. Try drinking the broth coming out of the grilled clam and you'll know. I'm usually not a fan of Kimchi Pancake but their was pretty good. Beware of the Spicy Roasted Chicken Feet tho. Even if you can eat spicy food you're nowhere near this. It's too much to tolerate. We paid nearly $40 each including tips, which is a bit pricier than some other places in the neighborhood. The staff was busy but still very helpful. Nice place to hang.
google avatar

Rita L.

Yelp
Huge portion! I got the seafood soup that came in 2 big pots with way too many clams (in a good way). Galbi is also really good here. Great for a group of friends, I was actually here for my friend's birthday and they sang happy birthday and turned off the lights before bringing the cake out. Service was quite good and they're pretty busy at night. I'd recommend making reservation ahead of time if you have a big group (around 8 people+)
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! If your looking for something fancy, this won't be the place for you. But if your someone who loves a home town environment, you need to try this place. The waiters are super engaging and funny. Price is reasonable. Majority of the time when people go for kbbq they would order different sorts of meat, but this place is more into seafood. Their clams are fresh and the scallops taste delicious! The waiter also gave us free salmon sashimi! It was fresh and tender! They open till the next morning, a lot of people go there to have a chill night and mostly enjoy drinking there. They have street parking and they accept both cash and credit. Would define go back again!
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
If you are coming here to get completely smashed, or you're already inebriated, then this is your place! If you are sober, and expect to get what you actually order, with waiters who have no idea what they're saying or doing, then AVOID! Do yourself a favor and go to the many other far better options in the area. We came in on a Saturday around 7pm. The place had a very Korean street foody feel to it which I thought was promising since I figured it meant authentic kbbq. We ordered a seafood combo that was suppose to come with 8 clams, scallops, welks, and mussels. Also got the beef sirloin and a steamed pumpkin with seafood and teriyaki sauce. The beef came first and for $40, was a very sad sight. The portion was ridiculously small and only consisted of a few pre cut pieces that was also flavorless. Next the "pumpkin" dish came out and I really wish I took pictures bc it was a Korean tofu stew with no seafood or pumpkin. When I told the waiters we didn't order this dish, they tried to BS us and told us the pumpkin, seafood, and teriyaki flavor was in the broth...was also told that the zucchini in the soup was the pumpkin when I inquired further. I know the difference between a pumpkin and zucchini. Then, the clams came out. We only got 6 clams and not 8 and I did not see any welks. I googled a picture of welks and showed it to the waitress, to which she said the welk had been chopped up and mixed into everything else. The staff also helps cook the food at your grill, and our waitress basically undercooked everything and claimed it was ready. I ate a few raw scallops and clams that were still cold and prayed they were fresh enough that I wouldn't get sick. At that point, it was just enough. I don't know if we were being taken advantage of because we aren't Korean and could not read the Korean translations on the menu or if they thought we were just complete idiots. Don't try to bullshit your way out of wrong orders. Admit your mistake at least. On top of that, the food just wasn't good. The seafood was not fresh and everything is overpriced. The only redeeming dish was the accidental stew we got. Also, they don't turn on any of the overheard vents so you sit there with the flames and smoke smoldering your face off and leave smelling awful. I hate giving 1* to any establishments, but this one is well deserved!

Bobby M.

Yelp
Authentic as in it looks like something you would see in Korea with the low ceilings, round table with the gas stove for the bbqing, and advertisements for soju. To start off, they brought the sauces with the sesame oil and salt. Side dishes came in the stone rice bowls. One was a steamed egg and another was a soup. Both satisfied cravings until the main course came through cause when it's late at night...the least thing u wanna do is wait for food. Once the main entrees came, I couldn't wait to eat. Very fresh meat and they cook everything for u. We ordered a bunch of different meats and a spicy dish. Cuts of meat were absolutely amazing, not ur typical samgypsal, this is the thick, meaty and bite size version. Also we got the budae jigae with the spam, cheese, ramen noodles and hot dogs. Can't beat all those meats in one pot of spicy goodness. The staff comes over and cuts up and flips the bbq meat. Many places let u do it urself but at times when I'm super lazy, it's nice to not have to man the grill. Goo goong tang is open till MAD late for all the late night munchers.

Yelp
Wanted to try some Korean seafood bbq and stumbled across this place in Flushing. It serves a full seafood menu and then some more with a really nice atmosphere. We ordered the bbq mussels, scallops, and clams which they grilled right in front of us. These were flavoured with Korean gochujang and some cheese, giving it a spicy but savoury flavour. None of the seafood had a briney taste which was pleasant. We also ordered the duck bbq which they grilled in front of us as well. This was tasty but a little overdone. At the end we also ordered the spicy chicken feet which they warned us was extremely spicy. We wanted to try it anyways and they were right. We were barely able to finish the dish. Overall a really great experience with good food and a fun atmosphere.

Yelp
It is a hidden gem , tucked in a small street but the place has its own charm. Wait staff is courteous and helpful. The food was served quickly and the way they cook the meat is mesmerizing. They were nice to give me complimentary crab and oyster. The meat taste so good , some parts have tendon but overall it is really good . They open till 6am , music is loud but tolerable . Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is my first time at this place. I've tried eat grilled clams at LA before and I wanted eat that when I visited in NYC but I didn't know where to eat. My friend highly recommended me this place and I decided to try. It was nice experience. I went to this place for eat dinner with a friend. He said went to this place before and food was ok. We ordered wang jogae with a grape soju. It was ok but garibi was good and clams with special sauce was delicious. If I didn't eat that at LA, I would give 4star here but honestly Grilled clams are amazing delicious in LA. They're super kindly but I thought maybe they're kindly more cuz I can speak Korean. I ask my friends to been this place before who live in New York, if they say no, I tell them to go try this place. I would like to come back this place again for eat grilled clams.

Yelp
I came here with a group of my friends. We ordered seafood pancake, variety of seafood to grill, and some meat. The food wasn't good enough for me to come back. The only fresh seafood were the clams . The mussel and scallops were frozen. I didn't really care for the sauce they used on the mussels and scallops. The bbq meat tasted better than the grilled seafood. Service was so so. We had to call the server over several times .

Wasn't too busy here on a Saturday night. Music wasn't too loud. A lot of available seats. Service was great! Just a couple of drunk people that were being belligerent. The food was mediocre and the prices were reasonable. I would come back here for a night out with my friends for quick bite to eat and soju

Yelp
**This is the same review from Han Shin Pocha Restaurant. I was here the other day and informed yelp that Han Shin Pocha Restaurant is now named GuGongTan.** Overpriced everything! Typical pricing for a Korean restaurant. $30 for an order of BBQ pork for two. It's ridiculous! We also ordered some of their cold noodles which were awful. They were absolutely flavorless. One was a soup based cold noodle. It was very bland and you had to add a lot of their sauces to make it taste somewhat decent. The other cold noodle was some super red crap. I assume they wanted the dish to be spicy but it wasn't. It looked like Red Skull (Villain from Captain America) was just chillin my bowl. The restaurant also had a fowl stench that was coming from either their floors or walls. It smelled like an unwashed dog that's been in the rain. Their drink prices were also outrageous. I think it was $2.00 or more for a can of soda and 13 to 15 bucks for a bottle of soju. Seriously, soju is like 4-5 bucks tops for the small bottles. This isn't some kind of fancy upper class restaurant. It's just a common Korean BBQ joint around Murray Hill. They have no specials on beers or any of their beverages. Verdict - Don't bother. Take my advice and skip this place. Our waiter sucked too.

Yelp
why the bad reviews on Yelp?! everytime we come here, we have a good time! Good korean BBQ and decent price A fun environment to drink soju! Its awesome here during the cold weather because of the heat from the charcoal They play loud korean pop music...definitely a place for young people Expect a long wait if you come here late night on weekends

Yelp
I used to love this place! Came here a lot for the seafood BBQ platter. But today's experience completely threw me off. First, all seafood couldn't get cooked at the same time. So we had to eat one kind of seafood at a time( I really don't know what's the point of ordering a platter if you can't even enjoy all of it at once). Second the clams, the scallops ect nothing tasted juicy and fresh like how it used to be. It was very tasteless I can almost say it's not that fresh. I really hope I don't get sick from this! Prays I don't think I'll be coming here anytime soon. Maybe I'll give it another try sometimes next year bec this used to be my fav place. lol but today's food really made me sick to my stomach :/

Yelp
Wow! I first heard of this form Maangchi from maangchi.com BBQ clams sounded good and we put it on our go to list. When we went, it was pretty empty (granted around 6:15ish) but boy did it fill up quickly. We took everyone's suggestions and ordered the bucket of clams(#3). It came with ~12 clams, two clams opened with sauce, and two large escargot looking shellfish. We were definitely amateurs and ate clams before the waiter came to help us take off the shell tops. My husband was feeling the old school kpop grooves while we sipped on bottles of Soju. We finished all the yummy clams and ordered a plate of bbq pork. It was surprisingly large and very filling. Yum yum. We'll definitely go back again. I did see the "death trap" room mentioned in a couple of the other reviews in the way back. My husband said it looked safe. I dunno. Glad I wasn't in there.

Yelp
This place is probably my favorite Korean restaurant in NY. Amazing food, very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great prices! Shellfish is a must but everything is great here! If you actually want to have amazing food and not just a place to meet before your soju bombs in ktown, come here! You can also have some soju bombs here! :) Enjoy!

Yelp
I love everything about this place. The food is excellent, especially the seafood platter with udon, marinated short- bbq, and this spicy baby octopus dish. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. Staff is great too. We had two dead clams and the waitress came back with 3 new ones for us to grill. Overall, this place is wonderful for eating and drinking with family and friends.
