Yelp
Been awhile since going to dine at Goong Korean BBQ, which is not far from safe house epsilon. This restaurant located at a tiny strip mall plaza at the SW corner of Rainbow and Robindale, had been remodeled since my previous visit. It is now designed for the current AYCE KBBQ menu they now offer.
The AYCE KBBQ menu consists of 3 tiers. The lowest priced tier is "Standard" ($27.95/$14.95 for adults/kids) offering 30+ selections, "Goong" ($34.95/$16.95 for adults/kids) offering 40+ selections, and "Premium" ($43.95/$21.95 for adults/kids) offering 50+ selections.
Goong also offers an AYCE Shabu Shabu menu ($31.95/$15.95 for adults/kids) offering 15+ selections.
If you are not in the AYCE mood, Goong also offers an a la carte menu.
On my most recent visit, about a week or 2 ago, our group opted for the Goong tiered AYCE KBBQ. We ordered all of the limited 1 item per person items, plus a few appetizers, and we were pretty much 80% full just from finishing that. So I felt that Goong-tiered menu offered just the right offering of premium items at a reasonable price.
But with the weather being cold now, I wouldn't mind checking out their Shabu Shabu menu. Normally when I am in the mood for hot pot or shabu shabu, I normally would venture to Chinatown or the Silverado Ranch area. But having a nearby option for that on a cold night is "swell".
Service is above average, from the friendly hostess to the attentive wait staff. Orders arrive reasonably quickly once the wait staff leaves with our orders, the staff initiated all the grill changes as needed without being asked.
I would totally recommend Goong for anyone with an appetite craving some good KBBQ, especially if they are not far from Rainbow off 215.
