Gorkhali Kitchen

"Take the short drive from downtown for a taste of Himalayan cuisine at Gorkhali Kitchen. The mirrored glass exterior means the interior is kept a secret until you're through the door but come inside to experience this place's warm hospitality. The menu is large with a Nepalese focus along with some Indian elements. Of course, there must be momo, those iconic Nepalese dumplings that are seared, pan-fried or even in jhol (soup). Chili momo filled with chicken is tossed in a fiery sauce that's not for the faint of heart. Sweet at the start, the heat builds and then finishes with a very spicy kick—perfect for heat seekers. Chicken is a popular protein that appears often on the menu, but don't shy away from the goat specialties. They're falling-off-the-bone tender and savory." - Michelin Inspector

We came after church on a Sunday to try something different and we weren’t disappointed! It was not busy when we came. In spite of its humble location and decor, this place definitely deserves its Michelin Bib Gourmand status. My husband had the lemonade (which my he switched up for Coke), I liked it, but it wasn’t his taste. My daughter had the Summer in Nepal which she described as a margarita with a salt rim vibe - they brought her a taste before the full glass and she liked it. I had the Nepalese Chiya which was a little creamy like a chai latte that I really enjoyed. Then we had the fried chicken momos (amazing with a sauce that’s about as spicy as Buffalo), garlic naan, cheese naan (wonderful), Nepalese Kaja Set, Tandoori shrimp (flavorful and perfectly cooked with a nice mint chutney), the Himalayan Meal, Kheer, and Rasbari. The Kaja Set is a nice sampling with two types of chicken, a delicious soup with black eyed peas and bamboo, crunchy spicy soybeans which were quite spicy, beaten rice (which we found interesting, but not our favorite, and pickled vegetables that did not have a very noticeable vinegar flavor but were light and refreshing. The Nepalese meal has nice jasmine rice, some mild and very tender lentils, Gorkhali chicken which was tender with a great flavor that’s not too spicy, sautéed mixed greens, more of the pickled vegetables, some potato fries and a yogurt sauce. I really wanted to try the Rabri, but they have had trouble getting all the ingredients, so we enjoyed their other desserts instead. It’s about an hour drive for us, but we will be back!

I visited this Nepali restaurant recently and had a fantastic experience! The Gobi Manchurian was a standout—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and bursting with flavor. The fried rice and chowmein noodles were equally amazing—packed with taste and made even better with the option to customize the spice level to your preference. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Highly recommend this place if you're craving delicious Nepali-Chinese fusion food!

Tried Ghorkhali Kitchen for dinner on a casual day when I was in the mood for something different, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The restaurant has a decent dining space with a simple, no-frills ambiance. It’s nothing too fancy in terms of interiors, but when it comes to trying new cuisine, sometimes the food is all that matters. Parking was hassle-free, with ample space available around the area — definitely a plus. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Chilli Momos and Himalayan Jimbu Chicken with Garlic Naan. The momos were the star of the evening — packed with flavor and the right level of heat for spice lovers. The Jimbu Chicken curry was decent, though it didn’t particularly stand out in terms of flavor. However, the naan was exceptionally soft and paired well with the curry. The portion size was generous enough to serve two people comfortably. I visited with my little kid and had a nice dinner overall. Since we didn’t try many items, I wouldn’t rush to judge the full potential of the menu just yet. But if you’re a food lover looking to explore Nepali cuisine, Ghorkhali Kitchen is definitely worth a try.

Tonight was my first time at this establishment, and my very first experience eating Nepalese food. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The staff were courteous and welcoming in a way that reminded me of the inviting warmth of people back home. The food? Out of this world. We started with the Kothey Pan Fried Momo and Tandoori Wings as appetizers, followed by Gorkhali Chicken, Himalayan Jimbu Chicken, and the Fish Curry for our entrées. We ended the meal with a sweet serving of Gulab Jamun for dessert. Every bite was bursting with uniquely complex and colorful flavors, balanced perfectly with just the right amount of kick. Combined with the friendly and heartfelt atmosphere, this made for one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend this place enough!

First time trying Nepalese cuisine! Ok the place is very authentic and to be honest this is something I’ve expecting to see in casual Nepalese restaurants whenever ill got there) it has a certain style and nice decoration which are just as they supposed to. The whole staff were really nice and welcoming, on all questions they’ve been responding with smile and understanding. We’ve asked tones of questions with my partner as we’ve both never tried anything Nepalese from the menu and our waitress lovely explained every detail. So we tried 3 courses of the menu: 1 - momo (Nepali dumplings) : it’s tasty and delicious. I love the filling but I would say that I expected the presentation to be a bit different. 2 - butter chicken curry : it’s something that we know and it was our safe spot so we can rate the restaurant based on something we have tried before and this is literally 11/10 ! I would go back just to taste it one more time. Period. 3 - thali (selection of appetizers) it’s fun! You do have chance to try different condiments on the plate. There were 6 of them (2 types of chicken, crunchy peas with spring onion, cold salad with potatoes, cucumber and carrots, and some kind of sour soup, also there were something which I didn’t understand completely but I guess it was a crunchy rice) As a beverage I’ve got the Nepalese beer - nice, and some spring which calls Summer in Nepal - it’s a nimbu , and it’s a huge question mark. I know that it’s not my profile so I can prevent you from trying it. So it takes and smells like sweat to me. However I know that it’s kinda usual beverage for India and Nepal. Overall I would recommend to visit this place and experience those fantastic restaurants with all of it flavor spectrum.

Hidden Gem for Authentic Nepalese Cuisine, Gorkhali Kitchen is an absolute delight for anyone craving authentic Nepalese flavors in a warm and inviting setting. From the moment you walk in, the simple yet charming ambience sets the stage for a relaxed dining experience. The spacious dining room ensures you never feel cramped, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. Now, let’s talk about the food—because that’s where Gorkhali Kitchen truly shines! The momos are nothing short of perfection. These Nepalese dumplings, whether steamed or pan-fried, are packed with juicy, well-seasoned filling and served with a dipping sauce that adds just the right amount of heat. I especially loved the chili momos Another must-try dish is the himalayan Jimbu Chicken Curry. The jimbu herb adds a unique, earthy aroma that sets this curry apart from any other chicken dish I’ve had. The flavors are rich, deeply spiced, and incredibly comforting. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations if you’re new to Nepalese cuisine. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Nepalese food or trying it for the first time, Gorkhali Kitchen is a place that guarantees a memorable meal. I’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
I've only had Momos in other Nepalese restaurants so I was really excited to try other dishes from the region. Started with the Kothey Momo which was so flavorful with their dipping sauce. Next was the Nepalese Khaja Set which included a variety of different traditional snacks, chicken and soup. So many different spices all in this platter and I really enjoyed their delicious Aloo Bodi Tama soup with black eyed peas. The Chicken Choila was terrific and the Himalayan Thaali with garlic naan were just superb! For dessert I had to have the Gulab Jamun and so glad I did... delectable! My server was so very friendly and attentive, I didn't catch her name but she was super sweet. The restaurant itself was clean and the aroma of spices as you step through the door was fantastic! Great food, great service, great experience.

Yelp
I had dinner delivered from this local restaurant last night. I ordered chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, samosas and garlic naan. The food was very good. The delivery took twice as long as stated in yelp. I don't know if the backup was at the restaurant and delivery service. The food wasn't hot when it arrived. I requested no cilantro on the naan and it came chock full of cilantro. Minor inconvenience. The staple in the tikka masala was a major concern. There is something wrong with a kitchen setup for a single staple to end up in the food.

Yelp
Gorkhali was recommended to me by a friend from India, so I knew it had to be good! Very unassuming restaurant in a strip mall, with limited parking. Décor inside is very simple. We came on a slow Sunday night and were seated in a booth right away. Service was friendly and accommodating with spice levels on the dishes we ordered. Now on to the food! For appetizer, we ordered the Chicken 65 and the Chili Momos - both were flavorful and perfectly spiced. For dinner, we had the chicken tikka masala and the chana masala (garbanzo beans), along with garlic naan. I was very surprised at the depth of flavors in all the dishes! Chicken was tender and the portions were more than enough to share. We finished with a chai and left full and happy. Can't wait to come back and try more items off the menu!

Yelp
The Michelin bib gourmand is well deserved! The amazing restaurant takes place in an unassuming strip mall. The service was spectacular ! We loved the homey atmosphere. It felt like a meditative experience. The drinks set the night off right- I loved the mango drink especially. It was the perfect cooling yogurt beverage for some of the spicier bites later on. The Momo were the highlight here. I wish I could try every momo type. This was a truly out of this world dish. We had the chili chicken momo, which we would highly recommend. We tried Gorkhali chicken and the Himalayan meal/Thaali with Gorkhali goat curry. We also tried the Gobi Manchurian. While I wouldn't order the Thaali again, it was a great experience to try the traditional Nepalese meal with the different sides and a little taste of each. The Gorkhali chicken also has phenomenal flavors and a good kick to it. We enjoyed the gobi Manchurian which was essentially crispy fried cauliflower in spicy sauce. From start to finish, we were transported to another culture we've never experienced before and that's what makes this place special!

Yelp
Located in a strip mall behind a gas station that's a couple of miles away from most other New Tampa/Wesley Chapel spots. It's a small parking lot comparative to the number of shops here, parking can be a small issue. The interior is clean with some decoration. It's nice enough. Service can be slow. They are friendly and helpful, just sometimes can be slow. The food is fantastic. Lots of spices and depth. Whoever is in the kitchen gives a damn about what they serve. The soups, the momo, the Nepalese dishes as well as the Indian dishes are all rounded, deep and flavorful.

Yelp
Amazing Indian Chinese food and we enjoyed almost everything we ordered. Chili Chicken momos were amazing and the vege momos were not eatable though. Garlic noddles and other dishes were spot on.

Yelp
Never before would I have imagined that there would be a Nepalese restaurant in the Tampa area. But here it is, and I'm glad it's here :) While from a first glance, you would think that you went to an Indian restaurant, but a closer look shows subtle variations that make it distinctively Nepalese. The food really is such an interesting blend of Indian and Chinese influences. I tried the Khaja Set and really loved the various types of appetizers that came with it. The standouts were definitely the crispy soy beans and the chilled grilled chicken. Both had lots of spice and kick to really wake up the palette. The servers working here are friendly, but service can be a bit slow at times. But overall, don't be thrown off by the non-descript location in a small plaza. This place offers unique food that you should definitely try :)

Yelp
As an explorer of cuisine, I recently had the pleasure of trying the great Indian food Gorkhali Kitchen. The experience was absolutely amazing. Sharing my review with fellow food enthusiasts. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, representing the diverse flavors of India. From traditional favorites like butter chicken and biryani to regional specialties & dishes from Nepal was something for everyone. For the main course, We opted for the classic butter chicken. The tender pieces of chicken were simmered in a luscious tomato-based gravy, infused with aromatic spices. The dish was rich, creamy, and packed with layers of flavor. Paired with a fluffy Garlic naan bread, OMG amazing..we ended up ordering another order of naan bread. We also tried their version of Stew Goat super flavorful. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was also exceptional. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and eager to share their passion for Indian cuisine. Overall, my experience exploring Indian @gorkhalikitchen was extraordinary. The restaurant was clean .Please indulge in the wonders of Indian food.#tampamichelinstar . . . . . . #TasteOfTampa #FoodieFindsTampa #TampaEats #FoodieParadiseTampa #TampaFoodieAdventures #FlavorsofTampa #FoodieHeavenTampa #TampaFoodieExperience #TampaFoodieScene#weshleychapel#tampafooodie# #indianfoodtampa#butterchickencurry.

Yelp
This place specializes in Nepali/Himalayan cuisine, with some overlap with Indian dishes. Chili Momo: Momo resembles dumplings, and in the past, my friends brought a bunch of tools from home to make them. You can choose chicken or veggie filling. The chili is genuinely spicy, so if you're cautious with heat, be careful. They seem to be pan-fried, and they're best eaten hot for a crispier texture. Himalayan Meal/Thaali: rice, veggies, cold potato salad (tangy), yogurt, and your choice of veggies/chicken/lamb, served in multiple small bowls on one platter, which looks quite fun. Gorkhali chicken and Himalayan Jimbu chicken, are quite popular here. They claim the main difference is the addition of herbs, but I couldn't discern much variation. Personally, I find it quite similar to Indian masala/curry dishes. Perhaps I'd prefer lamb curry; sometimes chicken at Indian or Southeast Asian restaurants lacks flavor or tends to be dry. Rabri: A milk pudding flavored with cardamom, saffron, and nuts. It might be a bit sweet, but it's quite tasty. Today's highlight. The restaurant is pretty clean, and the service is good, but it's odd how they kept staring at me for a tip.

Yelp
You can taste the freshness of the ingredients , the care and attention of how it's prepared. Excellent service by some of the friendliest ppl. Very clean!

Yelp
The gobi Manchurian and the jhol (soup) momo WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. The amount of spice the chefs use in the back is such a nice surprise and you can tell they're passionate about the spice they put into their food. Side note: our waiter was helping the neighboring table and recognized they were Nepalese too and gave him his personal phone number. How sweet is that?! We will 100% be returning customers!

Yelp
Great taste. Tried momo and thali and got humbled. Thanks to the staff for taking my order late just before closing time.

Yelp
Second time we had the chance to visit. Everything that we've tried is excellent, flavorful and delicious. I definitely want to try their tandoori next visit. The restaurant is small in a shopping center and worth the drive. My husband proclaimed their butter chicken to be one of the best he's had. I'm a dumpling girl and their momo's are so good and a must try. Their service and food presentation is also on point. It's clear why they received a bib gourmand rating. If you're looking for unique flavors, delicious warm/spice melding in your mouth. Make your way here.

Yelp
On Monday, 8/28, I discovered this hidden gem in Tampa. I am a foodie who has been to Nepal numerous times. Gorkhali may very well be the best Nepali food one can find in the US. Arrived around 1130 AM for an early lunch. Our waitress was most kind; however, a tad impatient as we took our time figuring out what we wanted to eat. Decor is basic, nothing special. That's fine with me as I came here for food. Kwati Special $5 Traditional Nepalese soup made with beans accompanied by ginger and Nepali herbs. This delicious Himalayan soup took me back to Nepal. The combination of bens, lentils, ginger and herbs resulted in a delight. I was shocked at how good it was. If I lived in Tampa, I would stop by for this soup every week. HIMALAYAN MEAL / THAALI Original family recipe from Nepal (veg/chicken/goat) 20 / 23 / 25 A traditional Nepalese meal served with choice of curry, basmati rice, black dal (lentils), potatoes, sauteed mixed greens and achar Had a traditional Nepali Thaali plate with their Mixed Vegetable Curry. It was amazing. The dal was packed with texture and flavor - wow. The achar (peas/potatoes) served cold were authentic and delicious. The mixed vegetable curry was the star. They included a cup of yogurt to tone down any heat. The mixed greens were spinach. LOVED the spinach. The potatoes were fried shoestring potatoes, went well with the other dishes on the plate. Tons of delicious food for 20 bucks. Bhindi Masala $14 The okra served with basmati rice was fantastic. Okra is a tough vegetable to get right. Fortunately, these folks know what they are doing. The okra was light, tender and not slimy like many okra dishes. Loved the masala flavoring, cooking method. We had a delightful lunch, took home tons of leftovers as their portions are most generous. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
WOW this meal was absolutely fantastic. Been wanting to come here for a while and it did not disappoint. We came in on a Saturday night and it was packed, but only ended up waiting 5 minutes for a table. It's not a huge place, but the decor is warming and the staff was super friendly. We tried the steamed chicken momo and gobi manchurian to start and both were insanely delicious. So much flavor packed into both. The gobi manchurian took us by surprise with how good and crispy the cauliflower was. It almost tasted like chicken, never had cauliflower that tasty before. For entrees we went with the goat fry and gorkhali chicken with a side of garlic naan. The goat was crispy and well seasoned. The chicken was also really good, but I wish the sauce was a bit thicker. It was more of a broth consistency, but the chicken was tender and it was also delicious nonetheless. Prices were very fair for the portion and how good everything was. I highly recommend it- can't wait to come back and try more of their menu!

Yelp
Maybe the best Nepalese Indian food combo in the area? Been on my radar as a Michelin honorable mention. From the outside G Kitchen is very unassuming. Just another eatery in a shopping plaza but on the inside the food totally speaks for itself and it's screaming loud and clear that this is a place you do not want to pass on. I would describe the staff as authentic and genuine. They knew I did not know how to order or pronounce most of the dishes, but our polite server escorted me through the features. Tried a little bit of it all. My favorite app was the chicken 65. Light and crispy with a kiss of spice like the slightest touch of the tip of a flame. Portions are big but so was the appetite. Also had to try the momos. A dumpling authentic to Nepal. Many types, but the chicken was a sure bet and again the sauce was flavorful and just ever so slightly spicy at the mild level. Venture up the heat scale if you dare. Fan of goat? They feature it in at least half a dozen dishes and make it the true greatest of all time. The goat curry did have some bone in the meat. Added flavor but surprised me when I bit down on it. Safest bet is the butter chicken. If this is your first time in this cuisine it is as safe a bet as ordering a cheeseburger at a Red Robin but still packs an orchestra of completely new spices to my American palate. Ended the lunch with a dessert recommendation which I would describe as donut holes in syrup. All house made of course. I believe the dough was fried milk. Super creamy texture and balance with the not too sweet cane sugar syrup. Could have dusted a few bowls of this alone. Appropriately priced and worth the drive from start to finish.

Yelp
Got a take out from the the restaurant. The staff answered all my questions. They are so friendly. They had authentic Nepali decorations. Momos are good as well. It was spicy but worth it.

Yelp
Great service and excellent authentic food! The waiter was really attentive and explained all the dishes since we are new to Nepalese cuisine! We will be back to try more of the menu! And if you love spices, you gotta try this!

Yelp
Gorkhali Kitchen is a Nepali and Indian restaurant in Cross Creek New Tampa. Inside is a nicely decorated restaurant in white and red. The place is clean and each table has a red rose on it which is different. The capacity is 40 or so people. The inside space is a little small, but not cramped. The customers were mostly Indians, with a handful of white folks. Bear with me but I ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill because I wanted meat. The dish comes with : 2 Lamb Chops 2 Chicken pieces 4 Large shrimp. The chicken and shrimp are cooked in Tandoori spices and the lamb is in a different spice set. All were ery tasty, ut not spicy. As is the style in many desi restauarants, it is served with a mint yogurt sauce that compliments the meat nicely. It comes with plain white rice. 8.5/10 I got an order of Garlic Naan. It was served hot and buttery with a strong taste. It was soft. 9/10 The service was solid. My water was served lukewarm the first time, but otherwise no glaring issues. I'd come again to try the momos and maybe a curry dish in the future. Parking is in a plaza but its a bit tight because there are 4 restaurants and a gas station it can get tight especially on the weekend.

Yelp
I might've found my favorite Indian food on this side of town!! Enter Gorkhali kitchen where you get Nepalese influence and Indian food. Jimbu chicken - Tomato based curry , slightly thick and very good, the aromatics stick out but I did think the chicken had too many bones for my liking. A couple of pieces had a thin layer of meat and a bunch of smaller bones. Goat vindaloo - my personal favorite of this meal, tender goat pieces that have soaked up the delicious vindaloo, I especially loved the fattier pieces because the lean ones were pretty tough haha. Delicious stuff and I would totally get anything involving goat here The service is great and I had the pleasure of speaking to one of the owners rajesh. I'll be back again soon :)

Yelp
I have no words about how good this place is, but I'll give it a try in a few words. The service has been excellent the last two times that I have been at that restaurant. Food itself, including momo (famous dumplings), curries, appetizers, desserts make me want to eat there at least twice a week. Definitely one of my favorites in Tampa Bay Area and I hope that it stays that way.

Yelp
I'm a bit torn with the experience we had at this restaurant. I was really excited to try Nepalese food but perhaps my expectations were too high. The food was good but nothing to rave about (and certainly not Bib Gourmand material in my opinion). Full disclosure, we only tried multiple appetizers, drinks and dessert, we did not get any entrees. The Nepalese khaja set was a sampler of a few snack dishes, two differently seasoned chicken dishes (chicken choila and chicken sekuwa), soup and a few other items including soyabeans and beaten rice. The chicken choila was very spicy, the sekuwa was tastier. The soyabeans were not good, tasted kinda like wasabi but more intense. The soup (aloo bodi tama) was really flavorful and my favorite item in this set. The pan fried chicken momos are supposed to be their signature dumpling dish so we had to try them. They were pretty bland as were the fried okra. Probably the best dish of the evening was the goat fry and their cheese naan. The goat was tender and flavorful. The drinks we ordered were terrible, especially the lemon soda, it had a sulfur smell that was extremely off putting. The other drink, summer in Nepal was salty. Dessert perhaps was also a highlight. We got the rabri which had a thick consistency and the sweetness was not overpowering. Service was very friendly and attentive. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6 and the wait reportedly can be very long for dinner service.

Yelp
I've heard a lot of great things about this place and finally went. I was very impressed!!! It is the first Nepalese restaurant in Tampa. The service was nice and our waiter offered to explain the menu to us after learning it was our first visit. With the waiter's recommendation, we ordered Kothey Momos (pan fried dumplings) which were phenomenal but a BIG KICK of spice. My bf and I also shared the Aloo Cauli and Thaali. If you're indecisive and wanting a true food-experience with Himilayan food, try the Thaali. I recommend getting a mango lassi (yogurt drink) to tame the spiciness of everything. Thaali is a traditional Nepalese meal served with a choice of curry, basmati rice, black dal (lentils), potatoes, sauteed mixed greens and achar. We ordered ours with Gorkhali Chicken. Everything tasted amazing. The flavors were there and I'm definitely coming back. I'm definitely re-ordering the momos again.

Never had Nepalese food before, so I tried a sampler platter. Unbelievable! After the meal I had an opportunity to talk to the owner. He had answered all of the questions I had about the unique spice pallet used in Nepalese food. Definitely returning to try other dishes. Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere!

Yelp
I've been dying to try this restaurant out ever since it came on my radar a couple of months ago! This local Himalayan restaurant located in a strip plaza in New Tampa serves up authentic Nepalese and Indian Cuisine at reasonable prices. It recently received a Bib Gourmand designation in the Michelin 2023 Guide and has been making its rounds on local foodie pages. I'm very happy I tried it and will definitely be back! We were warmly greeted upon entering and were quickly seated at a booth. The restaurant is modestly decorated, as we expected from a local eatery, but we thought the overhead lights were a bit glaring and that the space could've benefited from some background music. I believe there was some playing on the other side of the restaurant but we couldn't really hear it. These additions would've added to the ambiance for us. Nevertheless, we didn't come to Gorhkali Kitchen for the ambiance, we came for the food. And the food was delicious! Food- To start we ordered the Kothey pan-fried chicken Momos. They were so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and were accompanied with a fantastic slightly spiced tomato based dipping sauce. I look forward to trying the chilli Momo in the future. For our main courses we ordered the Gorkhali Chicken and the Himalayan Jimbu Chicken. The server was great at helping us with the menu and giving her recommendations. She even checked to see if the Gorkhali Chicken could be made boneless, as most of the chicken and goat dishes are served bone-in. The kitchen was able to accommodate this request! The Himalayan Jimbu Chicken was served bone-in and we were surprised to see small pieces of chicken containing small bones as we weren't anticipated this, but understand this is the nature of the dish that is served. Both chicken dishes came with a heavenly sauce that was fantastic when spooned over the basmati rice. We wish there was more sauce it was so good!! We ordered a side of the garlic naan which is some of the best I have ever tried. Wow! For dessert we ordered the Rabri which was packed with flavorful components such as cardamom and spices. It had an interesting texture. We'd like to try the Nepalese style Kheer/rice pudding next time. Drinks- We ordered the Summer in Nepal beverage, traditionally called aam panna I believe, knowing that it had mixed reviews. We really wanted to experience the flavors and see how all of the ingredients married together. While not for our palate, we appreciated trying a new drink! We also tried out the Taj Mahal lager beer which was light and refreshing.

Yelp
Gorkhali is AMAZING. Their momos were the highlight of our entire meal. Next time we go back, that just might be all we order. However, The chicken tikka masala with the garlic naan was a close second. We personally weren't a fan of the Summer in Nepal drink. It's like sweet and savory and honestly hard to explain. We enjoyed for lunch on a Friday and being the only ones there, service was very quick and friendly. The booth we sat in was clearly worn down as we had to slide in all the way because the outer end of both sides was caving in. Despite that, We highly enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back at least for the momos.

Yelp
So glad we got a chance to try this place. Nice combination of the usual North Indian dishes: paneer tikka masala, naan, etc and unique addition of Nepali style dishes. Loved the chili momos! Got the vegetarian ones. Also really liked the Manchuria. The butter nasal was great too. Really seams you can't go wrong with anything from the menu. Didn't love everything on the thali, but it was fun to try one time. Service was fast, no issues. The place is very busy, clean, and efficient. Would definitely recommend for really yummy Indian food also with a nice twist.

Yelp
Authentic Cuisine #75. This is Nepal Cuisine. It is one of the kind. Finally I can said we found a very good Nepal cuisine in Tampa. Gorkhali is my new favorite. I have been to many Himalayan and Nepal cuisine internationally (except Nepal) but none is good as this one. And they are locally located. We start with momos with Jhol soup. This is steam dumplings in chilled soup. The infill of the dumplings we selected the chicken. It is quite good. The chilled soup Jhol is delicious with unimaginable spice. We also got the Nepalese Khaja Set. This is combo appetizer with six little portions of food. It includes the chicken sekuwa, chicken choila, soybean choila, beaten rice, aloo ko achar, and soup with potatoes and bamboo shoots. I highly recommend this dish. Our entree is the mixed grill tandoori. It has shrimp, lamb chop, and chicken. It is also a very good dish. The lamb, shrimp and chicken are in different marinated spice. The dish come with basmati rice with caramel onions on top. Our experience is great. Service is good. Food are awesome. Definitely highly recommended.

Yelp
Lovely neighborhood restaurant with unique flavors. Enjoyed the momos but wish the curries could be modified to be a little spicier

Yelp
Ordered takeout tonight and I am so happy with my order! I got butter chicken and 2 orders of the garlic naan. I would rate * butter chicken: -spice level 1/5 - flavors 7.5/10 delicious but not the best I've ever had * rice - flavors 6/10 bland just regular rice * Naan -flavors 8/10 I know it would have been amazing served fresh I had it for takeout and it wasn't as good. Overall I gave this place a 4 star because it was really good and for how close it is to where I live I can't complain. Definitely will be coming back

Yelp
Takeaways: Stellar food, stellar service, very good prices. Definitely lives up to the Michelin Bib Gourmand award! Food: The food here was phenomenal! Their menu is split about 70% Indian and 30% Nepalese, but 100% tasty! I seriously think the Chili Momo is the best dumpling I've ever had! Everything was so unique and tasty and just overall exciting! The goat curry was the most tender goat I've ever had! Service: The service here was amazing! Our waiter was so helpful and kind. He guided us through the menu and gave us spectacular recommendations. He seriously elevated our experience. Ambiance: The place gives off the vibes of a cozy little hole-in-the-wall place! Super cute and modest, but still packed with life!

Yelp
I think like a lot of others, I've been thinking about going here for some time. Finally.. after a month or two of putting it off, we realized after going it was a mistake... not to have gone sooner! Gorkhali is now my favorite desi restaurant in the Hillsborough, Pinnellas, and Pasco County areas! For appetizers we had the gobi Manchurian which was the perfect amount of crispy texture, and flavor (but not spicy as we didn't ask for it to be extra spicy), the Tandoori wings (which were very tender, not dry, a good amount of meat, but 4/5 for this) and mint sauce, as well as the chili momos (which were a MUST have, juicy outside, but kept its structure and crisp texture on the inside). The one item I would say is, be careful if you're not someone who can handle spice, as things like the Momos can definitely pack a heat, and not just when you eat them! For main courses we had the butter chicken which I highly recommend(yes I'm desi and I got the butter chicken), chicken tikka masala, which we did get it too spicy, but we should have realized desi people will make it spicy if you ask. We also got the Gorkhali chicken which is one of their staple dishes, which I would say reminds me of the Bangla and Hindi word Gor which means home (this is something I'd highly recommend when it gets chilly in Central Florida). We also got but the garlic naan, which was very airy, and crispy in all the right places, with the cheese naan having a buttery taste and quite a bit of cheese in it. Finally.. what is a dish without the mango lassi? Not too sweet, and the right texture. The servers were nice, and the place definitely had the ambiance of a place with a relaxed atmosphere which I'd highly recommend for those even when you just want to carry out, or want to just rest and enjoy a meal without having to dress up. -To the owner(s) keep up the good work, congrats on the Bib Gourmand, and keep doing what you do (and keep doing it this way)

Yelp
I visited this restaurant last Saturday, I had the Gorkhali Goat which I had to return due to the meat being uncooked. I like Indian food but it has to be the best. My server was impeccable and went out of his way to make feel welcome and happy. The food is a bit pricey. The place is family oriented which I like and look clean. I didn't try all the foods so I will give it another try and would recommend it but not the goat.

Yelp
The best Indian food I've had in Tampa and some unique Nepalese dishes that are harder to find. The service was so friendly and helpful. Can't wait o go back.

Yelp
Service was great! But food was a bit disappointing, I heard it was a step below Michelin star restaurant, but it was very sub par. It wasn't worth the 40 min drive for me and I've found similar cuisines at local Indian restaurants. It was worth trying, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
Michelin, wut? I decided I would visit all of the places in Tampa that had received some sort of Michelin recognition, and I started with Gorkhali as it was close, open for lunch, and didn't require a reservation. Not sure if I'm going to continue down this adventure as I'm seriously questioning where Michelin gets their ideas from. Let's start with the food. The food is good. There was nothing unique about it (if you've ever has Nepalese food). It's good and worth trying for sure. But compared to other Nepalese restaurants, nothing stands out here. We ordered: Mango Lassi - Good, not great. I expect a bit more tartness from the mango Summer in Nepal - Tastes like tepid homemade lemon-lime gatorade. That's not necessarily a knock on it, but if you're wondering what it is and tastes like, that's it. Mustang Aloo - These were quite good. Sort of like Nepalese-spiced steak fries Steamed Chicken Momo - Momo is what you expect from a Nepalese restaurant and these did not disappoint. Just be ready for some spice. Nepalese Khaja Set - This is a bit hit or miss. Expect this to be various levels of spicy. The beaten rice is sprinkled over the rest of the food to provide a sort of crispy texture, but does not offer any flavor to it. The soybeans are something that would be a great beer snack - spicy, crunchy, super flavorful. The rest of the set is good, but won't blow your hair back. Butter Chicken - really very good. But do I need to go to a Nepalese restaurant to get it? Not really, there's 100 places in Tampa that do it at least as well. Gorkhali Goat Curry - wonderfully spiced and tender goat. A definite try, just be aware of the bones. Service - 2 stars at best. Water refills? Non-existent. Clearing the table after appetizers? Never happened. We were left to just pile everything on one side of the table. And it's not as though no one came by as two different servers tended to us and figured our tower of plates maybe was just a project we were working on and didn't want to interrupt our artistic flow. Even if this place hadn't received TWO YEARS of Michelin recognition, I would be just as hard on it, as they couldn't seem to get basic service correct. But it does make me seriously question what the hell the Michelin people are on that this place deserves recognition for anything. Don't be biased by the trophies on the mantel and try it for what it is and is not. So if you're going, go just to try/have some Nepalese food. But don't expect Michelin level food or service. Or maybe it is and Michelin will get around to giving every restaurant in the area some sort of an award.

Yelp
The food and service here was so good! Started off with panfried chicken momos and naan and it was excellent the dumplings had so much flavor. The dishes we ordered were the lamb chops and chicken tikka masala and i absolutely loved the chops. 4 big ones came perfectly seasoned and cooked well with a mint chutney. The desert was reduced balls of milk in a sweet syrup and was simple but delicious. I loved this meal and it was very fairly priced.

Yelp

Yelp
Walking into the place gave me an impression that it was very popular among the diverse crowd of tampa. Had to wait a bit on a Saturday afternoon lunch to get a table. On getting the table, we ordered a Nepali khaja set, momo chili and chowmein. The Momo chili sauce was good but the momo itself had almost no filling. The khaja set was the most disappointing of them all. The chowmein was pretty good with the added sauce we asked for on the side. The flavors of the food didn't appeal to my south asian palette. Its great food, just not flavorful enough since as a Nepali , we expected more flavor that matched to our hometown since this was a Nepali restaurant. Overall its a great place for a nice dine in and experience but not if you are missing flavors from home. But the service and hospitality was amazing !

Yelp
This is Truly authentic Napolese food. In a relaxed laid-back environment. you were able to enjoy a Michelin recognized dish for a very reasonable price. If you love spicy food, this is a must visit if you don't I'm not sure what to say. I ordered the Manchurian chicken, which was made very nicely and had a wonderful sweetness to them. I asked the waiter for some suggestions, and he recommended to try the goat which came out very tender along with some rice and other spices that were unbelievable. we also tried the tend Orian chicken, which is made very well and very flavorful. As I stated if spicy food is not your thing, you may want to stay away however highly recommended for those who love food from this part of Asia.

Yelp
Been here twice. The service and food has been incredible both times. In my short (repeat)list: Vegetable momos in soup. (Both versions are good but the vegan was significantly better)(spicy). Fry goat (no bones no big spice)-- tender and flavorful. Curry goat (spicey, bones). Also the milk custard desert (starts with a "r") is great. And i liked the Indian beer (horse in name) The staff has always been attentive and helpful. Awesome place. (Parking can be dicey as it is a busy plaza).

Yelp
Got this as a recommendation from a coworker. He said after work, the place is packed and he normally just orders to go, but we went during lunch and it was empty. Really nice, the service was fantastic. First and foremost though, the momos are mesmerizing. I will be back just for momos. We got the chili momos, and if you can handle typical foreign levels of spice, this is fantastic. It's drenched in a flavorful but spicy sauce and yet still crispy. The filling had the perfect seasoning and I still can't stop thinking about it. We also go gorkali chicken and chicken Tikka masala, both were good. Probably some of the best Indian food I've had, but it can't compete with the momos. We got one of their drinks (I don't recall the name but it was the fruity one that wasn't a soda) but it wasn't for me. Kind of had an earthy taste to me which I don't want in my drinks. The only thing I have as a negative was the booth we sat at, both sides had half of the seat springs broken. But the food was so good, I don't care what the place is, I'd be back. I could have those momos as a final meal they were that good.

Yelp
Honestly, for a Michelin rated restaurant, we were underwhelmed. We will give it another shot at some point, but, none of the dishes we had were that memorable.

Yelp
Gorkhali Kitchen Tampa is the newly opened Nepalese Restaurant in Tampa. So we decided to visit Gorkhali for the dinner on Wednesday night. It is a spacious restaurant with lot of seating space available inside the restaurant. It is a clean restaurant with a Nepali look and beautifully decorated. When we entered the restaurant we were told to wait by server till the table was cleaned. We were greeted by our server Sudeep with the menus. He got water also. After exploring the menu we decided to order Chicken Steamed Momos, Vegetable Steamed Momos, Vegetable Chowmein, Gorkhali Chicken and Garlic Naan. The service was good and we got our order in 10-15 minutes. First we tried Chicken Steamed Momos. They were delicious and seemed like hand made. Then we had Vegetable Steamed Momos. Vegetable momos were delicious too and we loved vegetable more than chicken. Vegetable Noodles were good too and it had a garlic taste in it which we loved it. Then we had our dinner which included Gorkhali Chicken and Garlic Naan. We got rice with Gorkhali Chicken. The chicken was delicious and seemed like home made since we make chicken once a week at home we knew it was freshly made and it was delicious. All in all amazing and delicious restaurant with wide variety of options available to have.

Yelp
We dined in in March and had a great time. This is a pretty low-key restaurant located in a strip mall. It probably is even more busy now they they have been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. My experience prior to that was still fantastic. All of the food we had was delicious. We frequently eat Indian cuisine but have never had Indian/Nepalese Cuisine. The dishes are very similar, but the spices are different. The momo's are a must tey if you have no allergens or dietary restrictions. As far as allergens go, I am a Celiac. Nothing is labeled gluten-free on the menu. Our waiter was very nice, but he didn't understand what gluten was either. It's very important to know what you can't and can have. He kept thinking gluten was rice and telling me things that were fried or things like the momo's were safe to eat. I will say he was happy to check with the chef for clarity. Everything I had was gluten-free, and I didn't get sick. Now, we had Aloo Dum, Dal Fry, HIMALAYAN Jimbu Chicken, GORKHALI Chicken, and the Goat Thaali, which is served with a few other accompaniments. Everything was 5/5 great. I will definitely be back again. It is a bit of a drive from South Tampa, but it is worth it.

Yelp
If I lived any closer, I would feast at Gorkhali Kitchen at least once a month! I tried the chicken dumplings in soup. I only had 3 to take home because they evaporated into my taste buds. I took it easy with tge Himalayan Chicken. It came with very good rice, but I could t help sopping my garlic naan into the sauce. The naan was perfect and the sauce of the main dish was so fresh -not thick. I can't wait to sleep off my food coma and go back before another year goes by!
