"Owner Jason Ganahl's passion for barbecue brought him to many national competitions and also to this brick-and-mortar shop in Westminster. If there is 30-day aged, prime hickory-smoked brisket, get it, but don't shy away from chicken wings, turkey, or pork. GQue’s sandwiches are worth a look: The Carolina features pulled pork and slaw, while The Meltdown features brisket with onion rings and cheese. Sides — apple slaw, baked beans, mac and cheese, onion rings — are done right." - Rebecca Treon, Eater Staff, Nisa Sedaghat

"In Westminster, there’s a barbecue joint worth the trek. Jason Ganahl, the proprietor of GQue, spent years tasting the country’s best smoked meats as a professional barbecue judge before setting off to compete himself. At GQue, he brings all the classic flavors of barbecue to life with dishes such as pulled pork, ribs, apple slaw, mac and cheese, and pit-smoked beans. He’ll also spin a fine yarn about the behind-the-scenes action at a bbq competition." - Rebecca Treon

Google
Really good bbq, G-Que is quickly becoming one of my favorite bbq 🍖 places! Highly recomend the pulled pork as well as the beef brisket, both are super tasty! Another thing that’s nice about their Thornton location is that they have a mini ice cream parlor if you like dessert. Another nice feature is that there is a mini bat for those who like having a couple adult beverages with their bbq. All in all, I would highly recommend this place to anybody that likes great bbq! That’s being a winner baby!!! 👏👏👏

Google
$25 for mash potatoes green beans and what they call a link of sausage! No way am I going back at these prices. Portions are small, food was just average for bbq. Better place to eat at that price. At least fill up the tray you serve it in…

Google
GQue is, without a doubt, the best BBQ I've ever had! The brisket was unbelievably tender and flavorful, practically melting in my mouth. Their sides were also incredible, especially the mac and cheese. I highly recommend checking this place out; you won't be disappointed! Everything was perfect.

Jason Thibodeaux

Google
We were trying to “leave it to the experts” as GQue suggested. $90 spent on Brisket, Turkey, sausage, mac and green beans. The beans were good. Brisket was absolutely flavorless. Turkey was decent. Sausage seemed to have been heated. What killed me was the simplicity of mac and cheese. Powdery oily macaroni. The fact that this kind of food came out with no oversight really surprises me. Gqued Used to be great but WOW. I didn’t know the G stood for “Gently Qued”.

Google
My family and I have eaten here several times, and ever since the first time it’s always been exceptional. The food is always fresh, very well cooked, and is always ready pretty fast. The dining area is always clean and everyone is always very nice and smiling when you go in. I’ve recommended this place to lots of people who live in the area. Great food, staff and awesome place for lunch/dinner. Highly recommend anything off the menu, never disappointed.

Google
Literally the first BBQ joint in Colorado I would go back to. I had a four meat tray, brisket (moist), pulled pork, ribs, and wings (dry rub). Brisket and ribs were elite. Great bark on the ribs, nice sweetness to it. Sauces held up too. Simple, not too many choices, which in my book is good. BBQ is about the meats and sauces are extra. The manager did bring me a vinegar sauce not on the table. Very vinegar forward, but has a great BBQ seasoning finish. These guys know how to smoke meat and would definitely hold their own back East.

Google
A McRib beats this place 10 out of 10. Ive heard you have to try something 7 times to know if you like it. Well this is number 4 and every time is a 1. 1 on price. 1 on quality. 1 of tenderness. 1 everything. They couldnt pay me to take it.

Google
Best on the plate was the garlic mashed potatoes. The slaw was Virginian style. Vinegary based. Had good flavor. On Proteins- BBQ had a good looking smoke ring on the brisket, however, the meat dry that day and the smoke point wasn’t as strong as it showed. The Sausage link was top choice 👍🏻 and if we are in the area again, that will be my solid choice. Overall value of the plate, it was pricier than the quality this day. They have a good foundation for growth. Wish them the best! ❤️.

Yelp
Delicious. Had the Brisket Sandwich yesterday. Daughter and wife shared the Carolina Pork Sandwich. I signed up for their app and getting all kinds of perks. If you like good BBQ, we found a gem.

Joe R.

Yelp
Always pleased, the food is always good the service is top notch. I would highly recommend you try it for yourself

Yelp
This is one of those places that I make excuses to visit. "Well, I'm in the area so I might as well get some GQue BBQ. It'd be a crime not to." Cut to me nodding to myself for my solid reasoning as I pull into the parking lot and swipe my card for a Meltdown Sandwich. With Mac n cheese and extra beer cheese sauce on the side. Have family visiting from out of town? Gotta try GQue. Grabbing groceries nearby? Gotta reward myself with GQue. Holiday? Celebrate with a GQue sandwich. In fact, I was so excited to order and eat I forgot to take photos. AGAIN. I may have a problem. Though there are worse problems to have. Grab some of their ice cream on your way out, it's delicious just like the rest of their menu.

Steve R.

Yelp
Everyone on staff is very nice, welcoming, helpful. Everything we order is delicious, yummy, and scrumptious. Every time we visit the restaurant, we enjoy ourselves.

Mel K.

Yelp
I somehow *accidentally* ordered this for delivery instead of my husband's usual St. Louis style favorite for his birthday and it was the happiest mistake I've ever made. This BBQ is GOOD. I genuinely couldn't believe the quality difference between this and another close by popular place. We had so much left over I had lunch for a solid two days. Highly recommend! My family thinks the only thing that would make it better is biscuits but maybe that's already on the menu and I just didn't see it because I'm celiac and have gone blind to such delicious words.

Daniel D.

Yelp
Always a great experience at GQue. Aside from the excellent barbecue, don't underestimate their fries, especially with some cheese! They support local high school sports, which is the reason why I stopped today (Legacy Football fundraiser deal).

alan h.

Yelp
Surprisingly good Q. I tried sausage and the brisket and was pleased with both. Restaurant was nice and the service was friendly and prompt.

Gina K.

Yelp
I made the drive all the way up to GQue (about 20 minutes one way, 40 minutes round trip). I would not say it was worth the drive for what I got. The pulled pork sandwich was very good and the onion rings were fried to perfection but, the mac and cheese was less than desirable. I love mac and cheese, and I feel like if your a true BBQ joint you should be able to do mac and cheese well. It wasn't very cheesy and even had some noodles that didn't even have any cheesy sauce on them. Also, the portion for the side, which in my case was mac and cheese was considered a single serving but, was about 3 tablespoons worth. It was not worth the drive or the cost for such a small portion and just over all not good mac and cheese. If your just going for BBQ, I do recommend the pulled pork and OG BBQ sauce. They do provide multiple options for BBQ sauces.

Laura B.

Yelp
Im sorry. This has been a place I frequently visit but I just went to lunch there and I feel like I got robbed. I didn't mind paying the $20 for a side salad, special of the week which was pork belly burnt ends and a piece of bread but, the amount of meat is a joke and the salad? Why would y'all sent a soggy, wet, brown salad to a customer? I'll definitely be taking a long break from this place.

Yelp
Just a disclaimer: I'm from the south and have had a lot of great BBQ in my life. Unfortunately, this is not it. Based on the positive Yelp reviews, I had high hopes for GQue. I ordered a 1/4 pound of pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was okay - it was tender and had a good flavor. However, it was just a bit too soft and fatty for me. The brisket was absolutely awful - gelatinous, fatty, and stringy pieces of meat. I honestly can't believe they served this to me - it was like the bad, leftover pieces of meat you'd feed your dog. I paid over $8 for a few edible bites of meat - super disappointing! Their sauces were solid - especially the vinegar and extra spicy varieties. I just wish I had had better meat to eat with the sauce! The beans were good as well - saucy and flavorful. Skip the slaw. I don't know about you, but I prefer mayo in my slaw, not apples. Overall, I paid $25 for semi-edible BBQ. I've had better $5 BBQ sandwiches in the south...

Yelp
In town for work, and decided to give Colorado BBQ a try. I got the Meltdown and was very happy with it. The brisket was tender, Smokey, and full of flavor. The cheese sauce was ok, but if you add the house, bbq sauce it takes the sandwich up another level. The house bbq sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and is full of smoke flavor. It was great. The Mac n cheese wasn't bad, but nothing great. Smoke the cheese sauce, and that would greatly help the mac n cheese. I would give the place a go again if I'm in town.

Tina J.

Yelp
The cornbread is so good!! Ordered some food to go, everything came correct and packaging was tidy. We tried the beef brisket and chicken. Sides were mac and cheese, mashed potato, and coleslaw. Since I'm a lover of cornbread, I will order an extra one just for myself next time!

Bridget O.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Even on the busiest days, like Father's Day and the Super Bowl, they are always producing great quality food. And the staff is always so friendly. Their pulled pork is to die for!

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Best BBQ in Colorado! The wings are absolutely amazing! Excellent service! Love their weekly specials! Can't wait for our next visit to GQue!

Corey D.

Yelp
Gques is a really nice alternative to fast food, especially if you are looking for some barbecue in the Broomfield area. We stopped in for a lunch and it wasn't particularly busy. The menu has some great options, but I went with the meltdown, which is owner recommended. The food came out fast and was decent. The brisket was tender, but didn't have the same juiciness or flavor I've tasted from world class Texas barbecue. I can see how this is pretty good barbecue for the area though. There was plenty of indoor seating at this location. It's in a small shopping center so plenty of parking available, but can sometimes get busy. I think the sandwiches are the best deal as they are a nice portion size. Food: 6.3/10 Environment: 7.4/10 Service: 8/10 Location: 7.7/10 Overall: 7.3/10

Yelp
Great food. This is one of my favorite takeout food places. Their brisket and pulled pork are phenomenal.

Abby H.

Yelp
Great pulled pork sandwich with plenty of meat! The barbecue sauce was good and not too hot.

Kayla L.

Yelp
We loved the food here!! The Sasquatch sandwich was my favorite. A unique combination of barbecue and sweet apple slaw. My favorite side was by far the mac and cheese. That's a must when you come! Order at the counter and take your number to a seat. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. We will be back!

Brian L.

Yelp
Came here based on the review in Eater, not sure what to expect as my culinary experiences here in Denver thus far have been very ho-hum.. walking in we realized this is more of a order at the counter and sit down rather than full service. We decided to give it a shot and ordered the ribs and brisket, onion rings to see how it goes. The rubs were fall off the bone and smoked properly, good flavor. Brisket on the other hand was dry and did not hold it's shape when being sliced it required a lot of sauce. The rings were decent. All in all not bad but not what I would consider championship level BBQ.

Michael R.

Yelp
Outstanding takeout supported by an efficient ordering app. Always love the lean brisket and pulled pork. Has been a family favorite for years. Thrilled to see that expanding has not altered the service and commitment to good food.

Hannah F.

Yelp
Had the opportunity to visit the Westminster location over the weekend. It was fairly crowded but to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. The service was friendly and fast and the tables were clean with condiments and napkins well stocked. The food was delicious and you get a good amount of food for the price. I had the pulled pork sandwich which is a huge handful of tender pork on a delicious bun. I almost didn't need sauce but their regular BBQ sauce is great. The mac and cheese appetizer is alright but could be better. Not nearly the cheesy gooey mac and cheese you'd expect from a BBQ joint. The sauce was lacking and was more of a light white cheddar. The onion rings were outstanding! Crispy breading and melt in your mouth sweet onions. My husband had their original Buffalo wings. Great flavor in the sauce (coming form someone who usually hates Buffalo sauce) but whatever dry rub or seasoning blend was used on the wings was extremely salty and made the wings almost inedible. The cheese fries were super yummy with fresh fries and smothered in delicious creamy cheese sauce. I wish I would've saved room for dessert because their ice cream options sounded amazing. One of the staff members was handing out sample spoons of different flavors and I tried the Oreo one which was delicious for the small amount they let us try. I hope to be back soon!

Brandon C.

Yelp
I swung by on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed but they still had my online order ready on time. Prices seem fairly reasonable compared to some of the other BBQ places. They did mess up my sides and I had to explain it a few times before they fixed it but that was probably just due to how busy they were. The pulled pork was juicy, flavorful and had crispy edge pieces. I tried the topper(?) sauce with it and found it to be a good flavor boost. The mashed potatoes were good but I would probably try another side or get more mac and cheese next time. Their mac and cheese is some of the best I've had. Cheesy, warm, real cheese deliciousness. I didn't try their ice cream which seems to be a partner company but next time I will.

Daniel F.

Yelp
We have brisket, turkey, slaw, potatoes, and green beans in the family pack. It was great!

Jose P.

Yelp
Great food good service a place to go back several times to try all their offerings We lived the taste of the bbq and sides Truly a good properly priced place

Phillip E.

Yelp
We come here for lunch regularly. The beef brisket is fantastic. The rest is almost as good. It's a great place to go for lunch.

Free B.

Yelp
They are OK, but their manager is so arrogant and if you tell him you smoke at home, he becomes very insulting and mean. I actually think that what I do at home is much better than what he does. I didn't think it was a great deal.

Ulises F.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was fast. Price is within range. And Mac and cheese is really good.

Jme A.

Yelp
The food was good. Our family enjoyed the bbq and hot links. Service was good as well.

Yelp
On my way to Boulder on a Monday, I stopped by GQue Championship BBQ for lunch. This BBQ joint is located in a busy shopping center but I was able to find one of the few parking spots. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. GQue Championship BBQ is a somewhat aggressive name but hey, they've won awards so why not flaunt it? After checking out the menu, I went with the sandwich deal where you get your choice of sandwich, a side, and a drink for a good price. I went with pulled pork with cheese fries. I asked the cashier if any side is included and he said yes but there was an upcharge for cheese fries which we didn't communicate with me. A little sketch. The restaurant itself is nice. Clean and it's decorated well. Not as "country" as other BBQ spots. A more modern look here. I also asked if they had WiFi and the guy said he would check but never got back to me. The fries were good, I love cheese on anything, but a little undercooked. The cheese was gooey which will make any dish better. The BBQ itself was about average. I'm from Texas and I've had a lot of good BBQ in my day. It wasn't bad or anything but not up to my standard. Next time around, I'd try another meat to see if it delivers.

Yelp
We were in Denver visiting for a few days and hunting for a good option for a late lunch after going to Butterfly Pavilion when this place caught my eye. We love barbecue and love trying new-to-us spots. As we approached we noticed the smell of smoked meat in the air and felt good about our choice. G-Que exceeded our hopes. Completely blew them out of the water. We shared pulled pork, brisket, ribs, fries, and onion rings. Everything was phenomenal. The meat was high quality, well seasoned, and beautifully smoked. We ate every last bite and left more than satisfied. The service was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with answering questions.

Donna D.

Yelp
GQue serves excellent bbq and French fries with quick and friendly service. Highly recommend

Dshun W.

Yelp
Food was delicious great sides and tasty lemonade/teas. Very friendly staff an great customer service.

Ryan L.

Yelp
The brisket was tender and full of flavor. The green beans were very good and the bbq beans may be the best I've ever had. Highly recommend GQue

Tiffani H.

Yelp
Good here is really good and service is always fantastic. I ordered a catering bar from here for a party and everyone loved the food. Will definitely be doing it again.

Robert B.

Yelp
Best in the area. Best barbeque. There wings go to a wing joint.Sorry Otherwise the food is usually on point. And when it's not which rarely happens they make it right. I'll give 4 star

Hannah S.

Yelp
If you go here, skip straight to the wings! They are a champion that you will want to go a full nine rounds with until your stomach is KO'd from fullness. Why only 4 stars? I'll admit I am a tough critic after living in the land of BBQ for a decade, and did not feel wow'd by any other items I tried that meal. I'm looking forward to going back and getting a WHOLE BASKET OF WINGS to myself and maybe trying other items, but until then I have to leave an honest review of 4 stars.

Brianna C.

Yelp
The food was amazing let me get that straight. The meats were cooked perfect but I had to give a 1 star review because my order was wrong. Both of the sandwiches I ordered for myself and husband didn't have the fries they were to come with. We have been coming to g que for a while now and the service is usually great. Super sad that I wasn't given the fries.

Cody C.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that I'm a Texan, so I'm very biased, and I have a pre-conceived idea of what BBQ is supposed to be. I'll give it to GQue. They at least try. For a chain BBQ joint, it's not bad. I'd put them at about the same level as Dickie's when it comes to food quality. Their sweet tea was on point! It was probably my favorite part. The brisket was ok. It was a little dry, and there wasn't a lot of flavor to it, but it did pick up the sauce well. The turkey was actually better than a lot of places because it was NOT dry at all, but it could've used a little more flavor. The sausage was...sausage...it tasted like everyone else's jalapeño sausage. The sauces were ok. The hot and original sauces tasted pretty much the same, and I'm pretty sure they were grocery store sauce, very generic-tasting. The mustard sauce was decent but was one of those that once you have it on a few things you get sick of it. The Mac & Cheese tasted like it was probably some powdered mix. It was very watery and not very good. The service was good. The girl at the register seemed to have the personality of a fence post, but she got her job done. The people bussing the tables were super nice and attentive. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect in a chain restaurant like this, relaxed but a bit loud. Overall, it wasn't a bad spot to stop for lunch, although a bit expensive. I'll probably stop by again sometime, but it's definitely not a destination.

Savanna B.

Yelp
So I love this place. It's got everything- super friendly and efficient staff, a fun casual atmosphere (with picnic tables on the grass that made dining with my toddler so much better) delicious bbq, excellent sides , cold yummy beer, and ice cream... although I haven't tried that yet as I've practically rolled out after each of my visits to Gque... My 2 main recommendations are their super delish crunchy apple slaw that comes on several of their sandwiches and their Mac and cheese. They also have awesome fries. Until next time, Gque!!

James M.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch with a coworker on his recommendation. I got the Carolina sandwich with the Hottish sauce. It was really good! Need one of these places in Mesa.

Marcia W.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE G-Que BBQ!!! We have never gotten a bad meal! It is so good I really can't pick a favorite! The staff is friendly and when you get stumped on what to order they have fantastic suggestions! The restaurant is very neat and clean, as soon as someone leaves a table they are right there cleaning and straighten the chairs. I highly recommend G-Que for the best BBQ experience! You definitely can't go wrong!

Robert G.

Yelp
Last night, first time customer. Food very good, qucikly delivered to our table, nice. Just one critical observation - french fries were kinda rubbery, not crisp. Identify an improved, larger size, better quality french fry offering. Maybe crinkle cut ?

M G.

Yelp
The place is lively and service was fast. The smoked bones were to dry even with the sauce. The onion rings were good. Yada Yada Yada ...

Mateo K.

Yelp
Great bbq overall. The brisket could be more tender and moist, it doesn't have a great bark. The pull pork is their star meat. The sides are pretty good too. Note to mgt: please consider different packaging with less plastics.

Jeff B.

Yelp
If you get their app you will get a free sandwich. I did enjoy their food. I had a pulled pork which was delicious. Maybe a bit pricey, but the one dollar beer during certain hours is a no brainer.

Cody P.

Yelp
Some of the best BBQ I've had in Colorado! We tried a bunch of different items and they were all fantastic. Laid back atmosphere where the focus is 100% on the food.

Patricia G.

Yelp
Okay seriously, this place is the bomb dot com! SO yummy. All the things we ordered were delicious and safe to say there were no leftovers. We went on Friday night and even though it was busy, the service was fast and seating was not an issue. It is a little pricey but totally worth it in my opinion, considering the quality of the food. They have specials as well for food items not usually on their menu. We tried the cherry bomb wings and they were exceptional. They also don't charge for ranch or sauce which is nice. Complimentary BBQ sauce in every table. I labeled everything on the pictures below. Will definitely be returning and 100% recommend checking this place out. You will leave with a happy belly ready for hibernation hahaha

Lillian C.

Yelp
Great food and the staff is amazing!!! My go to is the meltdown sandwich. Cheese and an onion ring on top of their famous brisket. Scrumptious!!!

Jeni S.

Yelp
I don't think that there is better BBQ!! It's consistently delicious and the crew is always happy and friendly.

John M.

Yelp
Picked up take-out. BBQ was terrific - as always. Staff is always helpful and cheerful! Wish the menu had a couple more sides, though!
