"This one, a block from the University of California’s Berkeley campus, has plenty of fun with its concept, though; the fictional archaeologist Indiana Jones was a professor as well, and the Graduate Berkeley imagines what he might have done with a 1928-vintage, 144-room hotel designed by W.H. Weeks in Spanish Colonial style." - Mark Fedeli

"The cafe will share food and beverage duties with Henry’s, the longtime pub that received a major change in direction when chef Chris Kronner (Kronnerburger) took over operations in 2018, adding a menu of dry-aged burgers, salads, and cocktails. (Cal alums may remember it as a notorious campus watering hole.)" - Ellen Fort

"Henry’s, the Berkeley institution within the Graduate Hotel (née Hotel Durant), is poised to reopen under the guidance of chef Chris Kronner on April 12. Chefs Jeffrey Hayden and Justin Hoffman are serving as co-executive chefs of the project, bringing their respective experiences together to create a menu of dishes that are extremely California, and a distinct change from Henry’s previous pub-like fare." - Ellen Fort

I stayed here for a work training. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They let me check in very early, which I really appreciated! the hotel is older, and it is, but tis completely charming and full of character. The location is great, within walking distance to MANY food and activities. I would definitely recommend.

Upon arrival the lobby was clean and tidy, the guest agent was profesional but very quiet not engaging. room seemed clean, however on the second night i discovered a sock on the side of the bed on the floor. Eric was a great host he was kind and friendly there was also a very kind woman at the front desk (blond) she made me feel really good with the brief conversation we had. the atmosphere was incredible at Henry's the food was amazing we ordered 3 different plates and they didn't disappoint although the french fries where a little cold but overall it was and unforgettable stay.

Fantastic Customer Service!||The Graduate is a charming and unique hotel close to the UC Berkeley campus. We loved the community aspect of sitting in the lobby and restaurant, encouraged by the complimentary coffee and evening drinks, but what makes it truly stand out is the exceptional customer service, especially from Tia, the manager. It's our go-to hotel every time we are in Berkeley.

Walking distance to the university literally 1 min from the hotel. The rooms are upgraded and clean. Its an old building, and has his own charm. The bathroom is small, yet clean. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Didn't stay. Saw the room. Is what it's supposed to be. Did not take advantage of any amenities. I did notice There was no bathroom vent fan, and separate toilet and shower "rooms" adjacent to each other. Seemed that in certain circumstances, it could become a humid stinkbox. Didn't check if the window opened. South facing window, of city walls and roofs. There's a Stanford U logo in the urinal for Berkeley Alums to piss on. Basically a microcosm of the greater area vibe. "We include, but secretly piss on you." 😆

The hotel is in great need of facelift, from rooms to staff. I'm an older person who took a chance on a place branded more towards younger people. No offense to younger people is intended, but perhaps the hotel has found they have more tolerance for the problems there - cleanliness, lackadaisical staff attitude.

This hotel is nice and clean. Great Location. Jacques and Leanna, who helped out make our group reservation, were really a joy to work with. They are the best and I will definitely stay here when I visit again.

Great location and friendly staff, but this hotel is a dump. Have the expectation of a one or two star hotel at best and you’ll be fine. Very rundown and there is a stale odour that permeates the hotel as mentioned in other reviews. Stayed in room 419. The floor was dirty, the window would not close, and the door seemed as if had been recently kicked in. Multiple cigarette? burns on the desk and the bathroom shower temperature was uncontrollable. Enjoy your stay!
