London’s Best Hot Dogs | Frankfurters, Weiners, and More - Eater London

"Trading from a repurposed 1959 Citroen HY fire engine, Engine Hot Dogs is a touring street food operation. The truck doesn’t have a permanent parking spot, but details of events and pop-ups are regularly posted on the brand’s Twitter. All sausages are handmade and double-smoked, served with various toppings, on demi-brioche buns. The ‘Beef Richard’ is a solid take on the classic, with a beef sausage, dill pickles, crispy onions, ketchup and mustard. The Okotberfest Special — ‘Dachshund’ — is also worth trying, topped with sauerkraut and Mittelscharf Senf mustard.Check social media to confirm location." - Jonathan Hatchman

Granary Square Brasserie Review - Kings Cross - London - The Infatuation

"If you are reading this, you’ve been just told that a table at Dishoom will be available ‘within’ 10 hours, and now you’re wondering if it’s worth just grabbing a bite at the very swish looking Granary Square Brasserie a couple of doors down? Easy answer: it’s not. Well, unless you’re starving and don’t mind paying a premium for your run-of-the-mill re-heated cash-and-carry classics. Yes, we know you’re starving but crawl over to Caravan, or Granger & Co for the fresher versions of the food here, and for more style for your money there’s German Gymnasium. But if you do need something to quench your thirst before your epic journey across the square, then it is actually worth grabbing a drink at the swanky bar." - Eileen Twum

The weekday set lunch is excellent; delicious and great value at £24 nett. I had the calamari to start and the grilled seabream as the main; both were beautifully prepared. The interior décor is impressive, making it a great venue for catching up with friends or a relaxed business lunch. The staff were very busy, so service was a little slow but polite.

Dropped by for lunch and had the haddock and salmon fish pie. The dish was comforting and presented nicely, but leaned on the mild side — more of a cozy, traditional option than something bold or memorable. If you prefer stronger flavors, it might not fully hit the mark. That said, the space itself is absolutely beautiful. High ceilings, elegant lighting, plush seating — it nails that balance between upscale and relaxed. There’s plenty of room, making it a solid choice for groups, casual meetings, or even a quiet solo meal. The terrace near the fountains adds a nice seasonal touch, especially on a sunny day. Service was polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was laid-back but refined. While the food didn’t quite wow, the setting makes it worth a visit — especially if you're looking for somewhere stylish and easy-going near King’s Cross.

Excellent, flavoursome food, lovely decor and atmosphere with good service. Food is worth every penny, the wine is somewhat expensive - no doubt the great location attracts a supplement. My only quibble is the white wine was placed in a cooler some feet away, no problem but the busy waiters didn’t check to top up our glasses, so we got up to do it ourselves - idiosyncrasy or oversight I am not certain but either way no real issue. Would certainly recommend a visit, the food was great. Would recommend the crispy duck salad and monkfish curry.

Had a business lunch and was served by Jessica and Nusbawh as they recommended the tasty linguine as my main for the first time convincing me from just having the large duck salad, so I had that as a normal starter. Both dishes were lovely and tasty. Will definitely be back.

Food was fresh and tasty. The vibe and the atmosphere was so cosy and French influence style decor. The coffee was awful though, I just think more restaurants especially high end ones should be using specialty coffee beans. The creamy mushroom spaghetti was amazing.

We had a celebration for my husband. The food was amazing, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Denisse welcomed us and made feel like we were home as she spoke some Spanish with us. The food was amazing! We had the Korean sticky glazed chicken and the ribeye. The fried zucchini was very good too. Cocktails are so good.

First time visiting and Denise our host was very helpful and nice. The food was very delicious and the drinks amazing. Our waiter was friendly and he did a great job. The sour amaretto was great. Will definitely visit again.

Tasty, cosy, good service - recommend! We went there for brunch on Saturday. Both kitchen and bar menu selections are great, featuring lots of meat, pescatarian and vegetarian options at a reasonable cost. The service was also good, with staff accommodating to our requests. The interior is chic and stylish so this place would work equally well for casual visit and for a special occasion.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out when we found ourselves in the area around dinner time. Our server was friendly and was quick to take our drink orders. She answered any questions we had and also offered recommendations. We decided on: 1) Minute steak - kiddos liked the peppercorn sauce and enjoyed their steaks. It was a tad too tough for my mom to chew. 2) Burger - hubs said it was ok. Said it was cooked to medium (just the way he likes it), but the burger itself lacked flavor. It was also on the small side but maybe we just think so as we're comparing to American portions. 3) Steak tartare - portion was good (don't know how it compares to the starter tartare). Unfortunately, even with all the ingredients reportedly mixed in, it lacked flavor for me. All the orders were served with chips that arrived hot, crispy and just salty enough. 4) Chocolate bombe - hot caramel sauce poured over the bombe when brought to the table. The sauce then melted the chocolate shell. Kiddo said there was lots of caramel, but nothing really memorable about it. 5) Truffles - hubs loves his chocolate and ordered these. Caramel centers. They were ok. Like many other reviews noted, took a while to try to get our server's attention for the bill.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food here. The service was great, the poached eggs on a fish cake delicious and we were able to leave our suitcases at the entrance which really helped. Delicious food.

Yelp
The best thing about this restaurant is it's location and beautiful interior decor, that has a bit of a wow factor when you walk in, feeling like elegant dining. We started out at the bar where it took the barman quite a long time to take our order, so much so that we were moved to our table just as the drinks were made. I was not impressed with our waiter who had a bit of an attitude and seemed irked that I asked questions about the menu (eg, how big is the lemon sole, or what do you think of the rabbit pie?) -- he even said "oh another question?" When I asked a second one which I thought was quite rude. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Started out with steak tartar - nice size portion but lacked flavor; for main course I went with the lemon sole which was a bit over cooked for my liking. Side dishes are extra, and a side of Parmesan truffle chip cost £6.50 (I wouldn't have minded but I couldn't taste the truffle). Between the poor service (even the bill took a long time to come), and the average food, it's unlikely that I'll be back here in a hurry.

Yelp
First time eating outdoors in winter but tables have blankets and overheated heating lamps. I highly recommend ordering the hot chocolate and any cocktail from the bar; everything uses fresh ingredients and made with detail. I wish I could say the same about the scallops and butternut squash.

Yelp
Spent a lovely mother's day dinner here. It was an extra busy day with a lot of mothers to cherish. Our server, Alessandro was on point, with attention to detail, keeping our two little kiddos happy. Thanks you for your efforts we all left full and smiling.

Yelp
Like many of the surrounding restaurants, Granary Square Brasserie has the elegant, modern vibe of the coal stacks/Granary Square area. It has colorful, detailed decor that I find adds to the ambiance. It also has a ton of seating, so it's a bit easier to find a table on busy weekend nights. We went on a Friday night, so I've only experienced the dinner menu. However, the brunch, lunch, tea, etc menus look lovely. We ordered cocktails, as well as wine. The wait staff was helpful in helping us choose what to drink (we got some sort of mezcal cocktail, as well as a red wine). We started the meal with the steak tartare and truffled orzo pasta. The tartare was light and easy to split. The pasta was a bit too heavy and my partner was fully after eating it, so I'd probably suggest splitting that between multiple people as an appetizer. For our mains, we ordered the shepard's pie and lamb shoulder. I loved the shepard's pie - not too large of a portion and very tasty. The lamb shoulder was also good, but a little basic. Overall, excellent location for brunch, lunch, dinner, or tea/dessert. I'd recommend the outside patio when the weather is nice, as the people watching is great and the flowers surrounding the restaurant are beautiful.

Yelp
This place is a mixed bag Pros: Great food Amazing location and ambiance Good wine selection and drinks Cons: By far the worst service I have experienced anywhere in London. It's jokingly bad. 30 minutes to have your order taken, 20 minutes to pay the bill. I will not be coming back

Yelp
I was very surprised with this restaurant, as I had such high hopes. The venue is beautifully designed, but it seems more attention to detail was put there over the dining experience and training of staff I am afraid. The food was fine, one of those places you visit once but never crave anything from the menu again, but once more the look of the food seemed to come higher than the flavour. In fact, one dish arrived two minutes after ordering (and was cold, so clearly had been meant for another table) while the other took a further twenty minutes. What was surprising was how terrible the service was. We were left at the table for almost 30 minutes without a glass of water or waiter asking if we were thirsty. When we were finishing the meal, one persons plate was whisked away while he still had food on his fork. Very odd to be fair, and the Google reviews are pretty true to life (complaints of staff and music too loud). Might be a better breakfast venue than dinner, but that would mean going back again.

Yelp
Great place to meet for an elegant lunch. I enjoyed the yellowfin tuna here with Aperol spritz.

Yelp
This was the PERFECT way to start my last day of vacation in London. I had the pancakes and my mother had the salmon eggs Benedict. Both were fantastic, the strawberry sauce was fresh and warm for the pancakes. The room is beautifully decorated as well. We had no wait on a Saturday at 9am in April. Come here, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I may be biased because it is a perfect day. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was attentive and refined.

Yelp
The restaurant and location looked fantastic, we'd stumbled out of a nearby bar after work, and decided we'd try something new. This place looked nice. However, my hopes first took a knock at reception where I was told, "You can't have the outdoors, but you may have a table indoors for 1 hour and then I need it back." Not a great start, but hey, that may just be because it has so much to offer? Once inside and seated, the other members of the team were doing their best to present an image of a well drilled and attentive service, but the scale of the task - given how busy the restaurant was, was seemingly beyond them. In some instances what seemed to be an attempt to provide fine dining level service fell flat, given the number of tables per waiter, the delays - and sometimes an overly serious manner, which didn't seem in-keeping with the more relaxed vibe of the decor and clientele. I was left wondering what identity and style the restaurant was aspiring for (I'm still not quite certain). Following the greeting, it took 15 minutes to be served drinks and a further 10 to get the attention of a waiter to order. The menu was a broad, running across multiple styles, which left me wondering what their speciality was. Unable to fathom an answer and impatient for sustenance, with nothing else beyond two post-work beers to guide me, I indulged a hankering for steak (I ordered a rare rib-eye, with red wine sauce). Once it arrived and I had chance to try it - I was impressed: the chef had imparted a wonderful smokey flavour and cooked it perfectly to my order. Unfortunately, everything else was a bit underwhelming and landed below expectations at this price point. The accompanying chips were husky dry, hollow and lacked any factor. The watercress was disappointing and the usual, soggy oily flavourless mess you come to expect from careless pub grub. A regular set of triple fried chips, plus a bit more flavour to the dressing and sauce (I ordered red wine sauce) would have gone a very long way. The restaurant was heaving. It's an excellent location, but I just couldn't help feeling they were overstretched and over-reaching. Nothing about experience was 'bad', but it wasn't particularly great either. Given the price point 'not bad' really doesn't cut it for a middling 3 stars, hence the 2 stars. With that said, a bit more attention to the side orders, dressings/sauces and a slightly better resourced and relaxed waiting staff would have turned this review into a glowing one. Certainly has potential.

Yelp
We had brunch here last week Sunday. I had a glass of the prosecco to start with as well as the truffle arancini and the sourdough bread. Mains consisted of the eggs royale and chips and my partner had the eggs benedict and chips. The food was good but there was a bit of a delay in getting our starter and main courses considering the restaurant wasn't full. The waiting staff made up for this as they were personable so you felt that they were taking care of you. It is a nice restaurant to visit for the decor as well, and the bar area looks quite good. There was a DJ playing music on the other side of the bar but it wasn't too loud, which was good.

Yelp
I live locally and this is one of my favourite restaurants in the area. Service is generally great although a little slow when they are busy, food is great and venue is lovely. Would recommend.
