Granny's Caribbean

Ordered my food via uber eats, was quite dissapointed and unsatisfied I didnt even finish the meal. The mac and cheese was WAYY too salted, after a couple bites I literally couldnt eat it anymore, the roti was really dry and cakey it just tasted like flour, and the plantain was very dry/not fresh at all. The only decent thing was the curry chicken and the rice which is a shame because everything else I pretty much wasted my money on

Went in the shop for a Medium Soup was spoken to with an attitude the whole time "we nah have no Medium cups" which I believe is a up sale tactic so I bought a large Instead the guy was walking around the shop kissing his teeth complaining to the female colleagues that the red pea soup had no meat left in it when I questioned him because that is what I ordered he said "nah man you get the last of the meat" I paid full price £6.50 when I got home the soup was mediocre and had literally 1 piece of meat in the whole soup also the first time I have had corn on the cob in a red pea soup. Do better we don't have to have so much attitude when working with the public

We decided to give this place a try on a Friday evening while driving by, craving Caribbean food. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great. First impressions: the restaurant could really use a deep clean, and the lady who served us was eating while packing our order, which felt a bit unprofessional. I ordered curry goat with rice and peas. The rice was underwhelming, with lots of crunchy, hard bits—possibly from a last portion. The goat, however, was quite tender and flavorful. My partner had jerk chicken with Jollof rice, but the Jollof was far too spicy for his taste. When we asked for plain rice, we were told they had run out, so I ended up making some at home. To make matters worse, the jerk chicken was undercooked, with noticeable blood in the meat, so it was left uneaten. Sadly, we won’t be returning to this spot.

Food portions were huge. (5/5) The delivery was on time. (5/5) I got a large callaloo with hard food (two huge dumplings and lots of plantain/veg). It was definitely tasty but if I'm honest I would have preferred more spice on the callaloo - it was very mild, more salty than anything. (2/5) The side of macaroni cheese was very cheesy (looks oily but that's just because it has melted cheese over the top), however the pasta had been overcooked to an extent that you could not tell it was pasta any more. (1/5) The banana cake with custard on the other hand was divine! Best cake I've had in ages. Moist, fresh and delicious. (5/5) I don't think I would order here again, as there are definitely places with much better tasting mains for a similar price.

You already know you've gained a new loyal customer! Was hesitant before ordering because of the reviews but I was blown away by not only the food but also the lady's great customer service. I now order at least once a week (but usually more when I don't want to cook haha) Half n half meals are AMAZING when you can't pick between dishes and your jollof is the BEST AROUND. Thanks again for your staff's hard work when creating such beautiful meals for me and my family. Ps - I love the filled cocobread & hardfood options God bless, M

Waited 1 hr for my order Phone the restaurant to be told the driver has left and my order is in the shop. In hindsight and from the reviews it was a good thing. Poor service. Received call back from the restaurant informing Mr the driver will return to deliver. Waited another hr. From delivery to order was like a 3 hr process. The young person arrived with my food. I shared some with my mother and due to our high blood pressure the salt in the food needs to be monitored, its way too salty. The rice and peas is sour, I hope I do not become ill. What a waste of time and money. How can I be compensated for this service. I am not happy.

Food was ordered on uber eats. They waited over an hour before they called to advise the main items are missing. We then advised cancel and was given alot of attitude. Do not go here!!

I ordered food on the weekend! Myself and my boyfriend were really ill with food poisoning for 2/3 days after! I was really disappointed as I’ve ordered from here before and never had a problem but I have to question how they store food too! Our homemade drinks had no use by dates on them like they’re supposed to.

It was not long ago that I discovered Stroud Green as quite a neighbourhood well worth exploring in more depth; in fact, it all started with when I discovered the "Front Room Café", which I have frequented quite frequently ever since... And it was after one of my stays at said coffee shop that I saw Granny's Carribean Takeaway shine at me from the other side of the street...in its bright colours...I simply needed to give it a try! Now, I have to admit that I am no connaisseur of Caribbean cuisine and I thus have no way to compare it. Having said this: I just wasn't convinced by what seemed to be a promising hole-in-the-wall place! When I walked in, there was no warm welcome and when I then inquired as to what would be the specialty of the house, I was simply pointed to the menu on the wall. In the end I went for a chicken curry...and I made that a to-go-order, because even though the place offered seating, the atmosphere just wasn't very inviting whatsoever. Back at home, I pooped the styrofoam box into the microwave and then slouched in front of the computer to eat. Needless to say - I wasn't impressed. In fact, I was quite turned off by the low quality of the chicken, as I felt I was eating more bones and cartilage than anything else. The taste, to be fair, was actually a three-star taste, but it still wouldn't lure up the image of sitting on a beach somewhere on the Caribbean Islands...

The jerk chicken is super tasty. It is definitely a gem of Finsbury Park and not to be missed if you're looking for Caribbean food.

I purchased food on 09/08/2019 which was very unfortunate but nonetheless disappointing. The customer service and organisation is appalling. The staff members are unapproachable, aggressive and offensively impolite. Not to mention that the quality and standard of the food was equal to that of the standards of the staff. Put simply, it was complete trash. This company needs to reconsider how they treat customers and improve their quality & standards of food. Also, the staff basic hygiene standards should be improved. Having a wash goes a long way!!

What did I do to piss Granny off so much. My jerk chicken was dry as it's broken bones, hard and over cooked and also microwaved?!??! Tasted days old. The chicken stew wasn't too terrible, chewy chicken again spoiled by the microwave. Such a pity as I was really in the mood for Caribbean food. It was a nice sunny evening and on this little cul-de-sac next doors a few down is the wicked coffee shop Vagabond, which was banged out till closing time. What works here is simply good quality food and FRIENDLY staff. This joint could be a real treat if they made a few improvements. Play some lovers rock out loud, let the smell of FRESH good food waft into the evening air and put a few more tables out perhaps? I basically don't want Smokey Tails to leave town and I think this would be a great place to buddy up with. If Smokey Tails is still in town, go there instead!

I just spent close to £40 in the takeaway and the food was rubbish. I'm sorry but the chicken was dry and stringy and the festivals were hard. I called before leaving this review, but the woman who answered the phone insisted that i must have heated them for to long. I wish that I had read the reviews on here first. I wouldn't recommenced this place as it has gone down hill. A new chef is needed!

Food was average and the service is appalling . Two ladies serving took approximately, 20 minutes to to put some curry and rice & peas into a container. They had about five customers in the shop and spent more time on there phones than dealing with the customers waiting. most take away services can deal with five customers in less than 20 minutes ladies. Hence the phrase FAST FOOD. I will not be coming back.

I ordered delivery from Grannys and I was anything but impressed. We had the goat curry of which the majority was bones, there was a total of about three mouthfuls of goat. I had the fried fish which was so dry. You could tell the fish was old as the eyes were so heavily glazed over. I couldn't even eat this meal. We had the macaroni cheese on the side which was vile. The cheese was fake and I could have picked up the whole piece and it would have stayed stuck together. When i tried to call and complain and get my money back as nothing was edible they never picked up the phone. Very disappointed.
