The 38 Best Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland

"Open for: Dinner daily and weekend brunch Price range: $$ The best durum wheat is produced by an ancient grain called senatore cappelli, according to Roberto Mungo, who ensures that all of the handmade pasta at his wonderfully convivial restaurant in the hip enclave of Stoneybatter follows his mother’s recipes precisely. Grano is incredibly popular, so you’ll want to book your table here well in advance. Know before you go: If you fail to secure a table, you’ll find lighter food and plenty of wine at Afianco, Mungo’s vineria next door." - Corinna Hardgrave

"To the northwest of the city, you’ll find this lovely little Italian restaurant specialising in homemade pasta. Unfussy dishes like spinach balanzoni or cavatelli with venison ragu are expertly cooked and deliver great flavours thanks to their quality ingredients. It’s a friendly and passionately run place, with an owner and chef who hail from Calabria and regularly import produce from their home town for an authentic touch. The all-Italian wine list features some organic and biodynamic options." - Michelin Inspector

Had a lovely time in Grano. The place is small enough but very cosy. The staff are wonderful and personable. The food was amazing! Even not being a pasta lover I loved the special pumpkin pasta. They didn't look like much but they were very filling! Dessert was so good even if we did have to scarf it down. Make sure no one in your party is late because they are always booked and you have a 2 hour slot for your table. The staff are lovely about making sure you're able to enjoy the food within that time frame though. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

I’m a huge food lover, and Grano has never once disappointed — we’ve been here more than 30 times! If you’re lucky enough to get a table, consider it a blessing. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere sets the tone. The staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The food is always made with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, and the prices are spot-on for the level of service and excellence you get. The wine list is extensive, and the team are incredibly knowledgeable — I often just ask for their recommendations, and they always never fail.

Super disappointing experience. After hearing so many good things, we booked this 3 months in advance and were really looking forward to going. We got the crocchetta to start, it was fine, nothing sensational. The suppli was devine. Then for mains we got the mezzi paccheri amatriciana. It was fine, it lacked a lot of flavor and was very one dimensional, we were excited for this after being in Italy for summer and having loadsss of great amatricianas but this one was bad. We got the pumpkin tortelloni which were much nicer but nothing mind blowing honestly. Finally, for desserts we got the bignè, one again these just didn't hit the mark. They had 0 wow factor whatsoever and the peach and cream had particularly little flavor. Really disappointing when it's meant to be for our anniversary dinner out. Had much better Italians around Dublin (e.g. i Monelli). Wouldn't go here again.

I had a wonderful experience at Grano restaurant for a friend's birthday celebration. The service was truly outstanding, and every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. It's such a charming and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a special occasion. I can't wait to return for another meal. I highly recommend this establishment.

Our visit to Grano was probably the highlight of our Dublin trip. The food , service and atmosphere were fantastic. The front of house staff were very friendly and helped us with an excellent wine suggestion. We were seated right next to Giovanni who was on pasta duty, and it was wonderful watching him work - he is a true pasta master! A word of warning - make sure you leave room for desserts! We had to narrow down our choices from 4 to 3 as they were all so fantastic. It's not often that the desserts outshine the mains, but at Grano that might just be the case - well done to the pastry chef! We stumbled upon Grano in the Michelin guide, but I truly can't think of a single reason why this restaurant doesn't already have a star - it's surely on its way! Thank you for a magical meal <3

This is a special place for us. I don't know how I can put this into words. There's a certain feeling of home when you walk into the restaurant. A sense of grace, something that's just so comforting and familiar. My wife and I have been multiple times and every meal is exceptional. The pasta is made fresh and if you're lucky you can get a seat right next to them making it! My wife and I got lucky on our honeymoon and did just that. The staff is excellent, the food is divine, and the wine selection is superb. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance!

Simple and perfectly executed food. The service also was fast and friendly. A 10/10 for us and really worth the wait for a reservation 👌expanding the drinks menu would be the only suggestion!

We ordered the Piatto speciale and it was honestly really, really good. They make the pasta fresh right there, and you can really taste the difference, everything is high-quality and full of flavor. It’s true that it’s hard to get a spot because they’re always busy, but it’s absolutely worth it. Definitely worth trying!

Yelp
Wow this place was 10/10. The food was all incredible- just as good as a restaurant in Italy in my opinion. Everything tasted really fresh. The waiter was really friendly and helped me pick some wine based on what I was feeling. This place needs more reviews- it was amazing.

Yelp
Went to Grano with my non-conforming, non binary, gender neutral, asexual partner for our anniversary and to celebrate our recent adoption. We've heard great things about Grano and their food, loyal customers, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, our experience was horrendous and appalling. As we walked in, we were greeted by our server he seems to be a masculine presenting individual and I've gathered that he uses he/him pronouns during our consultation on what we'd like to order. As we were ordering, he kept referring my partner as she/her and ma'am. We repeatedly told him that my partner uses xe/xem pronouns and finds this constant misgendering highly offensive. He apologised with a crappy sorry and sob story on how he isn't educated enough and apologises for his ignorance. We decided we'd tell the manager of Grano after we finished our food but decided to leave it for now. Once we got served our food, he said "Here you go ma'am", whilst snickering to himself finding what he said funny. It was not, in fact it was dehumanising. I stood up and told him to back off and leave me and my partner alone. He seemed startled by this and walked away. The food was mediocre, definitely not michillan star by any means but it was okay. After we finished our food, we went up and asked for the manager. The manager seemed to be an older woman that looked like she ran the restaurant. She appeared to be in her 60s-70s and quite small. When we told her about our incident with one of her staff, she laughed in our face and said "what is she", (referring to my partner) "an animal? No she's a human and it's clear to see she's a woman her breasts are larger than pluto." What this older woman said appalled me and my partner.. just because my partner has female genitalia and was born female, does not mean xe is a female. Xe is a non-binary and non-gender conforming individual. After my partner defended xeself as xe should, the manager began to shout major homophobic slurs in front of the whole restaurant and told us to get out and in her words "you predators" my partner began to cry and ran out whilst I followed xem in a hurry. Once we got home we felt dehumanised, mortified and ridiculed against. Nobody should be put through this. We reported this case to the guards and they will be in touch. Nice try.

Yelp
Amazing fresh pasta/Ltalian neighborhood restaurant Very small intimate space but well laid out Fresh pasta maker on site out front of a very lively 3 chief kitchen It was our first time and were from the States but the wait staff were incredible and made you feel like you were part of the faimly or had been a regular for years This is one of those one of a kind places you must not miss in Dublin

Yelp
Surprised there aren't any reviews yet! We tried Grano back in July during the first week indoor dining reopened. It was phenomenal. It's a pretty small place (and it can get chilly when the door is left open), but it's pretty modern and cute inside, and the food was great. One of the more busy restaurants we visited, the service was nonetheless on top of it, and we left full and happy.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Small room so booking recommended. We had two appetisers to share, both of which were pretty spicy but served with excellent toasted breads. My main was tagliatelle with a pork ragu and my companion had the gnocchi special both of which were pretty good. We had a bottle of the house red, Sensa Dubbio, which was very acceptable all the more so because it was a litre bottle which was just the right amount. Recommended.

Yelp
I agree with another review, that I am so surprised there are not more reviews on this amazing restaurant. I am in town for a business and holiday trip and have been spending the larger majority of my time walking, eating and drinking. I have been craving good Italian food, as I have spent a few years living in Italy (currently in the US) and just wanting a accurate taste of Italy without the "good try" or "fusion" try. It was amazing. I walked up without a reservation for a party of 1 and was accommodated even though there was a party on the list after me. I greatly appreciated them making a table for me, because I saw the next 4 patrons after me who also didn't have a reservation, were not so lucky. The food was AMAZING. The wine was AMAZING. The service and attention were AMAZING. A MUST if you are looking for a great place to eat in Dublin. I am going to try my best to book and go back!
