Grape, Fennel, Walnut, & Buttermilk Salad Recipe: A Step-by-Step How-to - Eater

"Berens describes her butter lettuce salad with grapes, walnuts, fennel, and buttermilk as a play on a Waldorf salad. It’s exactly the type of dish she might serve in one of her meals at Granor Farm, where, since 2017, she has cooked one-of-a-kind, distinctly seasonal dinners using the farm’s fruit, vegetables, and grains." - Bettina Makalintal

Delightful, welcoming, informative. Impeccably well appointed working farm, farm stand and gift shop. Fresh veggies & flowers. Lovely to walk through the fields and learn so much about the farm operations.

Google
The Michelin of South West Michigan, that speaks for itself! Wonderful dinner evening, Jason's passion conveying every detail of the meal, prep, and cooking process made it even more captivating and memorable. The farm tour was educational and a warm welcome. We adored the setting and scenery. An absolute delight, and my wife adored the personalized birthday card! Thank you all for a wonderful day and evening. We cannot wait to come back again.

Lovely organic farm with an amazing farm stand- featuring their produce, ready to eat/heat foods made on site & locally produced products, on site dinners (ticketed), and camps/programs for kiddos.

We came to Granor Farm for a dinner last night, and had the most wonderful experience. The farm itself and the greenhouse we ate in are truly stunning (the place sparkled!), Abra and her team were so personable and knowledgeable, and of course the food was outstanding! We can’t wait to come back to Granor for another memorable meal — it was more than worth the road trip. Wish we could give 6 stars instead of 5!

Google
Truly one of if not the most wholesome farm-to-table dining experiences out there. Granor Farms makes everything they use in their 7 course dinners that rotate each quarter. Enjoy a drink whilst meandering the farm learning about the various vegetables and plants they cultivate on the 100 acres of land. Following, you'll enjoy a spectacular 7 course meal with specific wine pairing for each plate. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner date or anyone interested in locally sourced farming methods!

Google
A very nice Farm with far above average selection of both fresh fruits and vegetables as well as gourmet cheeses, meats, even cocktail ingredients and shrubs. They also run an interesting subscription model where you can drop by and pick up an allocation of fresh produce weekly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

I booked a private room here for my sister's bachelorette weekend and we all had the BEST time. The food was absolutely fantastic, the farm tour was super interesting, and the staff was incredible. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

This was my first time at Granor Farms and they completely knocked it out of the park! We were there for a Neighbor by Neighbor fundraiser. As a local real estate agent I have tried many restaurants around Harbor Country and this place is 100% top notch if you are really into food. We showed up and were greeted by smiling faces and served glass of champaign. We had a six course meal that started off with beautiful appetizers that included breads, dips, chutney, pickles, cheeses, meats, and more. Next was a turnip chowder with smoked fish & radish salad. The flavors were outstanding. Next up a green salad, red wine risitto, turkey roulade, and finished off with an Irish trifle. The food was outstanding. I love trying new foods when you get multiple flavors with each bite and are so well paired together. If you have not tried this place, it is a must!

Yelp
We had a fabulous farm to table dinner at this organic farm, located not too far away from the Lake Michigan towns of Michigan City and New Buffalo. After a welcoming glass of sparkling wine, we went out to the farm fields to learn about the history of Granor, their mission, their operations, and to learn something about farming. It provided an interesting prelude to the main event, dinner. Our group of seven was seated at a long table with three other friendly diners inside a large greenhouse that includes the farm kitchen and other meeting spaces. Dinner featured seasonal crops from the farm and proved to be a celebration of the vegetables and grains from the area, along with bottomless pours of excellent wines from area wineries. There was only one course that included a protein, a duck confit served with a raspberry sauce, and it was superb; rich, moist, tender, flavorful. The other courses featured an assortment of vegetables, from a flavorful kale salad with goat cheese and sourdough-zuchini croutons to an incredible carrot entree that was unlike anything I've ever had before. I eat vegetables but generally prefer my proteins--gotta say this is the kind of thing that could turn me into a vegetarian. We heard they are going to be doing some fried chicken dinners in late fall/early winter. That's enough reason alone to get me back to Granor. Granor also has a roadside farm store that sells fresh produce and other products. We found out they are furthermore starting a distilling operation to make liquors from some of their produce. So there's lots of good reasons to take a drive out into the country to visit Granor but if you get the chance, that Taste of Granor dinner we experienced is fantastic.

Yelp
Great place for a group dining experience in Southwestern Michigan! Upon arrival, a staff member offers a Farm tour and welcome cocktail. Farm to table platters are served family style and the staff is great with accommodating dietary restrictions and is accessible throughout our meal. Portions are small, but flavors were delightful. Would recommend for a special occasion, as the cost is on the higher end. Reservations are required.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Granor Farm! The facilities are top notch and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The tour of the farm opened our eyes to sustainable growing solutions. Nothing goes to waste. What really wowed us was the dinner, served mostly family style and was very creative using what was available on the farm that day. The wine pairings were on target and the three hour meal passed quickly. So much fun!

Yelp
We've attended the dinners and shopped at the Friday's market. Both experiences exceeded expectations with regards to freshness and quality of the farm's products. A true farm to table experience! For the above reason, Granor's labor of love could be accessed more broadly by considering a range of some affordable prices. This level of food quality must be shared. Thank you for the amazing work.

Yelp
While the atmosphere and hosts were very welcoming, the food and wine left a lot to be desired. Every dish except for the dessert lacked any sort of seasoning, especially the most important one...salt. I understand the desire to highlight the freshness of farm-to-table ingredients, but please, salt things appropriately. That would've elevated almost all the dishes to another level. They also served undressed, raw spinach which wasn't properly cleaned. I don't think anything else needs to be said about that. I feel like this may have been a one off as they prepared the food to compliment the wine (especially when the wine isn't that great). I'm all about trying new things, but there is a reason that the wine compliments the food and not the other way around.

Yelp
Love visiting their farmhouse store in Three Oaks, MI for fresh veggies & more grown right on their property. Find so many locally sourced, coffee, jams, bread, meats, butter & more. Also, fresh greens, radishes, onions, potatoes, their chef Abra Behren's also has 2 cookbooks out and plays an intricate role at the farm. Soon to resume is farm dinners this summer. These are popular so be sure to book early! Staff is so pleasant! As a foodie always love fresh from the farm and to support the local community!

Yelp
Wow. It's hard to describe the number of reasons you should go to this place. Maybe good to start with the fact that the chef trained at one of the worlds premier farm to table restaurants. Next you will enjoy fresh food grown organically and sustainably in every sense, including livable wages and good jobs for the people doing everything from planting to washing your lettuce before you eat it. The menu changes every night and depends on what's fresh and delicious, and so I won't tell you what to order but I will tell you that the food is not fussy and our party at five thought it was the best meal they'd had maybe ever. The team of people running this place could possibly be friendlier and more committed to your having a great evening. Go and enjoy if you can. Note that you'll have to get some tickets and that might be easier said than done

Yelp
Awesome farm with amazing organic produce. Will drove a distance to pick this up. Get there early and check out the modern farm with restaurant. Good luck getting a res!

Yelp
We had a reservation that we could not use this was 3 months before the date! Abra told us no refunds but could put us on a list to sell the tickets i was told it was a very popular place so i thought no problem they did not sell so i guess not so popular we wanted to go but she would not switch the reservation what kind of restaurant does this to a customer? so we lost hundreds of dollars and they lost a customer FOREVER

Yelp
It thrills me to be a member of Granor Farm's CSA. It is a joy to go to the farm weekly for about six months, from June through November, and select what I want to take home. The "store" is well organized and beautifully stocked with all sorts of greens, roots, garlic, onions, potatoes, squash, beans, tomatoes, and tons of other delicious produce, that changes from week to week as the season progresses. The variety is astounding and appreciated. The staff has always been delightful, energetic and cheerful, adding to the experience. The quality is excellent, and the amounts offered are generous. I'm so grateful to have to opportunity to source organic produce from a neighboring town. Also love the zinnias and dahlias!

Yelp
Granor Farm is located on 25 acres in Southwestern Michigan, outside the town of Three Oaks. The farm produces an astounding array of over 42 organic vegetables and fruits. Granor farm has a large CSA with drop-spots throughout the Chicago area, and sells produce at Chicago farmers markets including the Green City Market in Lincoln Park (http://www.greencitymarket.org/), the Logan Square Farmer's Market (http://www.logansquarefarmersmarket.org/), and the Pilsen Community Market (http://pilsencommunitymarket.org/). The farm grows delicious fruits and vegetables, and the farm manager, Jesse, is always excited to discuss organic and sustainable farming.

Yelp
Great philosophy -- friendly farm staff -- fantastic (and interesting!) produce -- couldn't give higher marks to the Granor Farm CSA (and we've tried more than a few!). Generous shares of fresh-picked vegetables, fruits and herbs that make each Friday pick-up an adventure for our family. Absolutely stop by the farmstand on Warren Woods Road (just outside downtown Three Oaks) if you can -- there are extra produce and other options available at the farm that are worth the trip!
