Big Brunch News as Gravy Plans Second Location - Eater Portland

"Gravy, a popular brunch restaurant known for eggs, biscuits, gravy, and hashes, is opening a second location in the Kerns neighborhood. The new venue will take over the NE Sandy location previously occupied by vegetarian restaurant Harvest at the Bindery. The owner, Mark Greco, plans to keep the menu fairly similar to the original but is considering adding an evening happy hour during warmer months. The restaurant is expected to open by mid-March." - Tim Forster

Probably the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I would provide a picture but dug into them and ate more than half before realizing I didn't snap a pic for my review. I also had eggs, with a side of bacon and french toast. The French toast was pretty good, a little too much bread but still absolutely delicious. My daughter had the hot turkey sandwich, looked amazing and she really enjoyed it. Very great experience for a few out-of-towners. We will be back!

Fantastic!!! This breakfast joint is awesome. Bring your appetite because portions are huge, large enough for 2 to share. If you have a hangover this place is the perfect cure.

Lovely bustling space, loud-ish but not too loud, and the tables aren't too close together so you can actually talk with your dining companion. Nice selection of Cocktails, Bloody Mary's, and Mimosas- reasonably priced for Portland. Ordered the special cocktail of the day (week?) which had Rum, Cherry Liqueur, and fresh grapefruit and lime juices. It was fantastic! Had a really delicious iced tea as well. My companion and I both ordered the same thing, the 2 egg breakfast with 3 sides that you choose yourself, from a long list of items! We chose the Bacon, Wheat Toast, and Hash Browns. Eggs were perfectly done, bacon nice and crisp (my preference!), and the toast was made from some of the best bread I've tasted in Portland! But the Hash Browns were the star. Wow, phenomenally done, cooked in a small pan until super crispy on the top and bottom. Only $10.50 for a substantial plate of food that I could barely finish (but did anyway because it was all so yummy). We were slightly disappointed that the items didn't seem to be seasoned much (salt or pepper), until we tasted the hot sauce and ketchup... both house-made!!! Suddenly those were all the seasoning we needed, because they were amazing. On a Monday afternoon the place was packed, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Our server was very busy but super attentive. We can't wait to go back again!

Leah, our waitress, was so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about fun things to do in Portland. The vegan cheesesteak was SUSPICIOUSLY good; I cannot believe it was vegetarian sausage and dairy-free cheese. The coffee is good, although the soy creamer tasted off, and ended up giving us stomach aches. Overall, a neat spot.

Ohhhh so so good french toast! Love it and the portions are huge. The gravy is amazing I had the veggies one. The corn beef is so good as well!

I wanted to give this place a better review, but my breakfast was terrible. I’m not sure if I just picked the wrong thing, but I was so disappointed since the reviews for this place are pretty good. I will say, my friends breakfast was pretty delicious tho. I love chicken fried steak. It’s kinda my thing. So, of course I ordered it. Lemme tell you, it was not the traditional cfs. At all. It was bloody, and more like a tbone or sirloin thickness, vs the standard steak used for cfs. I had to cut around the edges to even get anywhere close to well done. And, my hashbrows were so crunchy, they were more like chips, and my toast was burnt (I had to pay extra for toast). I spent a lot of money on my meal, and we waited almost an hour to be seated, so I was very unhappy with this experience. Definitely not a spot I would recommend. Very overrated.

Place is really cute and staff is really nice. The food is amazing and the portions are huge, I liked that you could make your own omelette and the french toast made with challah bread was fantastic! It gets quite busy so it's best to come early, would definitely recommend.

First visit. Hour and a half wait. Two of 4 drinks ordered unavailable. Tables seated after us ordered before us. One of four orders completely wrong. They didn't even have a steak knife for the country fried steak until after it was served. Whatever could be wrong was. Food was decent and portions were large. Overall experience ensures we won't be returning. Not worth the effort. Happy Father's Day.
