Great Burrito

My coworker turned me onto this place. I usually get the chicken or beef lunch special. For $12 you get a great amount of chicken/beef, rice, beans, salad, and a can of soda. It always tastes fresh and they’re pretty quick with delivery. Ive also tried the torte and the quesadilla, all great stuff with an authentic spin. If you’re expecting taco bell, this isn’t for you. Be prepared to eat.

This hole in the wall is an AMAZING PLACE to get food to go. I have brought many people here and they love the food. I always take the food to go as the place is very small. But im only here to talk about the food. amazing tacos. I get the chicken Tacos. The price is amazing and the taste of the chicken is AMAZING. This place is a GO TO FOR MEXICAN FOOD

I've never had their pizza and truthfully with the delicious Mexican food they produce I don't even understand them having pizza. We've been ordering from them for months and have never been disappointed. Absolutely, delicious food. Nice people too.

Awesome burrito spot not far from 5th avenue. This place makes food that's very authentic and rich in flavor. I ordered the carnitas, tongue and chorizo tacos. It was delicious! Well seasoned and cooked just right. The tacos are not small in size and expect to eat around 3 to get full. Even on a rainy night this hidden gem was packed. I'll definitely be back to sample their other Mexican dishes.

Steak tacos with everything is the best real Mexican taco I ever had.

This place is Delicious!!! Thier Tacos are a full on 5/5 on flavor AND they are a nice size too! $3.50 per taco isn't bad for NYC and if you get 2 then you will leave satisfied. I do reccomend the tacos though. I think it's more bang for your buck and the flavor is better than the burritos which are a bit expensive. All in all, this place is awesome!

Great good, affordable prices. It's small and the decor is humble, but it's worth it for the food!!! The people here are also very nice!

The name says it all GREAT BURRITO , GREAT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD , along with GREAT RELIABLE SERVICE , this place is sooo underrated my opinion it puts taco bell & Chipotle to shame , very small place ot enough seating , but what matters most to me is their taste in authentic food , price and service. This spot is a GEM in my opinion !!!

Should be called Terrible Burrito. Worst burrito I've ever had in my entire life or at least a very long time. Not only was it small for $16 only had rice beans and a little meat. The meat inedible chicken first bite had a big bone that cut the roof of my mouth. Second bite again bone.. after the third bite of inedible meat with gristle. I left. I would avoid this place at all costs. Not sure what there food rating is buts is a def hole in the wall dirty and smelled like old onions. I tipped $1 for something that I should have got a refund for. Tons of other good options for Mexican food in the city. 4 stars from people who must not have ever had any decent Mexican food ever.

I was in need of the quick bite after landing from a long flight. I found this place right around the corner from my hotel. They are great service, and the food was great. Really enjoyed there authentic tacos.

Lady helping us out was rude , had flies everywhere in the restaurant and the food was to chewy.

The first time I came here, was in 2016 -- it was my first extended stay in NY and I serendipitously stumbled upon this place. To my memory, this is the best Mexican food I've had on the East Coast, and rivals a lot of restaurants in SF (at least as good as) and LA (portions here are way bigger). I don't think they even changed the prices since 2016 which is amazing. I had a hard time remembering where this was, but my new office is nearby so I guess it's a blessing in disguise. Highly recommended if you ever need a pick me up in the area.

I do like that this business is run by people that really know how to make tacos and authentic Tex-Mex food. They seem to be hard working and passionate and it's a really tiny hole in the wall spot in a neighborhood that thrives off of new and shiny things that costs way too much money. Anyway, the prices here must have increased drastically like everywhere else. Because this isn't cheap. Maybe it once was and I missed that window. I came in to order two burritos (one chicken and one pork) and they came out to $14 a pop. Yes, they were huge and the size of my head so it's probably worth the value at the end of the day (I still have almost half a burrito for lunch today). Stocked full of tasty meat and yellow rice and I think pinto beans. Not much vegetable in there but why do I need vegetables anyway? Their salsa is legitimately insanely hot. And this is coming from someone with a really high heat tolerance. I like it though because it was both flavorful and blow my intestines out the door. One thing I wish they did was mark the containers on which was pork and which was chicken because I had to play a tricky guessing game when I got home. It is pretty dirty inside. I would definitely opt to take your food to go. They weirdly also serve pizza? I can't say how it tastes or what it looks like but I am kind of intrigued by that one.

My friend and I were so hungry by the time we came in, so I was quite excited for this. We each got a lengua taco, carnitas taco, and grilled steak taco. I think it was $4/taco, which is on par with other trucks and sit down places in the area. All of the tacos were great. The carnitas was seasoned excellently, grilled steak as also great, and the lengua, although not amongst the best I've had, wasn't too bad either. There's about 3 tables in the space -- one large (4 people), and 2 smaller ones (2 people.) It seemed like most people were doing take out. Glad I found this place. It's in a good location, and I'll probably return at some point.

Decent Mexican restaurant. Its more pricey than I would like. The food is alright and they deliver. Not a bad place overall to eat at.

The food is good but, unfortunately the prices have gone up on average $5 per entry with portions going down. I understand they are probably paying more for their groceries, but that price hike is way too big. Not ever going again or recommending it

I'm so lucky I live so close to this hole in the wall. Originally being from Texas, I've been on a constant search for great Mexican food in the city. This place is definitely a go to stop! It's no frills and authentic with all of their food. I love the al pastor tacos here. All the tacos are filled to the brim and only $3.50 a piece! The enchiladas and burrito are great options too to get a taste of their rice, beans, and sauce. Don't let the exterior deter you, give this place a try!

Just like any place in Mexico authentic and delicious We call it a whole in the wall here at home in NYC but this are the best places for this kind of food Mexican, Chinese, Indian or any minority cuisine no need to be fancy just good and this is just the way I like it. Sopes, Tortas, huaraches, chilaquiles, tostadas snd all the good street food all in one place I been coming here for 25 years or more and I'll keep coming here

The beef was so tender and I loved how perfectly seasoned the rice was. I really loved the rice! Their spicy red sauce was literally a hit of flavor, you could feel the burn from sauce. I liked the cream on it. It was really messy to eat but it was super good. The burrito was only 14 dollars but to me, better than chipotle. I like this place and I would def come back.

Did you know? Did you know that other than being a LGBTQ+ neighborhood with expensive housing and the Highline, that you could also get fan-fucking-tastic tacos for $3.50 each? Well now you do.

So I'm still pretty new to NYC and the hidden food gems this city has to offer. Being born and raised in the west coast and coming from a Mexican Background i had yet to find a a place I can say "damn that reminds me of my grandmas Cooking" WELL TODAY I FOUND IT!! This has to be hands down one if the best places I've sat and cleaned the plate because the food was that good. I had originally order a burrito to go but after telling to owner my struggle on finding good Mexican food he started to share his story which made me want to eat my food and enjoy it hot he continued to tell me the love he get from his community and most importantly his wife and kids! With his wife by his side, they changed my order (WHICH IM GLAD HE DID) and told me, he had a customer once come in here and order a burrito. She took photos she called a friend but never took a bit. I asked her why, she responded because it's to beautiful. With that being said you told me you want the food made with love so my wife and I wanted to serve you a meal instead of the burrito so you can really taste the love." With that I grabbed my beautiful plate of green chicken enchiladas topped with perfectly melted cheese along with a side of fresh frijoles, rice and chopped lettuce and tomato everything cooked to absolute perfection. To the owner if you read this, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY AND AMAZING FOOD!!!! Whenever I'm back in that area you can now always count on me to come in enjoy your warm cozy true authentic cooking!!

Everything was pretty good but also pretty expensive for what it was. I'd probably stop back by but just too expensive for low quality food

Looks like a greazy little dump. It is, but it's really delicious. Only a handful of seats. Had a delicious messy greazy al pastor torta. Most enjoyable. Skip the flan.

Authentic Mexican food in a little hole in the wall venue. A very pleasant surprise as the place we picked was closed . Had a steak taco and chicken quesadilla- damn good and truly authentic !!

It's been years since my original review and I'm impressed this place is still going strong. While the prices have gone up, it's still a good value. The pork tostada was a delicious mess to eat. They somehow squeezed in another table so there are 4 inside. It may not be the best Mexican in the Five Boroughs, but it's a good neighbor spot.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. So unassuming from the outside but this place is serving up some of the most delicious, authentic Mexican food. The carne asada tacos and torta are my go-to orders (tacos are $4 and the tortas are $8 I think). The tres leches cake is better than the flan as a dessert option!

Great Burrito is the real deal. If you want that authentic Mexican flavor as if you were in Mexico you come here. I have only been to the Yucatan Penninsula but this was the feeling I got. My personal favorite - which I get on a weekly basis - is the Huevos a la Mexicana. As I do not eat meat or dairy this really suits. Soulful breakfast for sure! Have also had their tacos but I have to design them myself as there are not all that many vegetarian options. Does not matter - can't go wrong with anything they conjure up. Robert

Finally decided to try this spot today. Had no high expectations because it's very hard to find good authentic Mexican food in nyc. & coming from LA and Mexico I can be very picky. But even with low expectations I ended up being very disappointed. Ordered a classic enchiladas plate with rice & beans. & even though they scored with a good favored salsa verde, the quality of the meat was terrible! :( The chicken was dry and looks like it was reheated from the night before. To make it worse I came across a piece of beef steak. NOT okay since it's clear they are not being careful with cross contamination prevention.

I work a couple of blocks away so I eat here atleast once a week. Nothing can beat Simple, honest, no-frills food and this place offers some of the best. I've tried most of their tacos but hands-down my favorite has to be the carnitas. There's something about tender, pulled, just-off-the-skillet pork that is just hard to top. I love the fact that they use two tortillas for their tacos cause things can get messy when you add on the onions, guac, and hot sauce on top of that bad boy. Every bite is just *chef's kiss* perfection. And at $3.50 a taco it's a great value. My other go-to order is their pancita. An extremely hot bowl of pig intestines served in a hearty broth. Squeeze some lime in and go to town. Perfect during the winter months. The seating is limited and during the pandemic they only have 1 table set-up for outside dining. I absolutely love this place and will continue to support their business.

Whoever thinks it's good idea to add pizza to their menu is such an idiot. All they need is their taco to make it. Best taco i was introduced to in Manhattan in value, quality and deliciousness. Order of two tacos can fill you up but i suggest three to be happy. This place is super tiny but manages to sit around 8 to 10 people. Menu is huge with Mexican food to pizza. I won't suggest pizza thou cuz they look like those $1 pizza a block away. The taco however is what you would die for there. We were here around 8:30pm on a weekday and managed to get a seat. Taco served on a real plate like a date night. Cheap date night. Their tacos are filled with about a quarter pound beef or some meat with avocado and please ask for their sauce. This place is probably the best spot around after a late night drinking.

Best tacos ever? No Pretty damn good? Yes Cheap? Yes Clean? No (and I don't care) Huge portions? Yes Cash only? Yes You do the math.

You are not here for the pizza, or the chicken tacos or the quesadilla. You are here for the carnitas taco and the al pastor taco. If they have posole order that. Pork chop special of the day order that too. Wash it down with some jarritos. Watch a telenovela or a movie and you are good to go. I used to work down the block and half of the staff, teachers and maintenance would order from them all the time. Glad they are still around. Great homey place and food made with amor!

Delicious Authentic Mexican Food! Always worth it! Small but a gem in Manhattan. We try to go there every time we're in the city. Theres no place like it.

We were recommended this hole in the wall joint by a local and it didn't disappoint! If you are looking for street style Mexican this is it. We are use to really amazing authentic Mexican food and this place held its own. I got steak tacos with rice and beans and my husband got a torta-both delicious. Not much for seating per usual in manhattan eateries.

Tried the chicken quesadilla ($12) and enjoyed it. It doesn't look like what you expect it to, since most places make their quesadillas thin and flat, but this place stuffs it with meat! It came with beans and salad as well. The chicken was tender and well seasoned and the quesadilla was filled with delicious melted cheese, but the texture of the tortilla was a little cardboard-like. While the dish was $12, it was huge and enough for two people to share.

Yum oh yum, no wonder there are so many good reviews here. I was starving and I'm so glad I found this little burrito place. If you're looking for a fine dining sit down place, please move along. This is more of a small, slight hole in the wall but serves an awesome delicious taco. With only 4 tables, you really can't stay too long. Most people just get it to go but not me. I was determined to experience the whole thing. And let's just say, it was tasty. Ordered the grilled chicken topped with onions, their secret sauce, hot sauce, rice, cilantro, on two soft tacos. $3. Yes, $3!! Easy on the wallet. Next time I come back, and yes, trust me, there will be a next time, I'll try the beef.

I moved to NYC from San Francisco back in January. This is closest to the mission style burrito that I have had here. Really good quality.

I miss the taco shops in San Diego. I've tried about a dozen different places in NY and this is pretty close. Double layer tortilla, lots of meat, onions, guac. Nicely grilled with slightly crisp edges while remaining juicy. $3.50 a taco, $1 soda.

Honesty goes a long way. The two guys behind the counter are class acts and It can be hard to find that these days. Long story short, I paid in cash for two tacos and was overcharged but the gentleman behind the register didnt realize this until about 10 minutes after the fact when he told us. I told him it was okay and instead of the two, just give me the amount of tacos I paid for (which was 4). I thanked him for his honesty and enjoyed my food. Enough said.

Love this place and their food. Well seasoned, well prepared, fast delivery, affordable. Although if you don't want 'hot' tell them. Without that they will pour it on. Nice people too

Hooray! So glad we discovered this place in our neighborhood. Finally, my taco cravings can be sated properly. These are everything you want in a taco. Tostadas are crispy and delicious. Enchiladas are cheesy and satisfying. Portions are great for the price, and it looks like they might be open 24 hours - perfect for late night munchies. Enough tables to eat in - and they deliver, too.

This is a "local 5 stars" not a "take the bus and train from Danbury 5 stars." I've enjoyed the speedy, 24-hour, PATH-friendly burritos, enchiladas and tacos for many years. Al pastor may be the best choice. Vegetarian isn't bad. The pizza is o.k. but you can get pizza anywhere. After trying everything on the smallish menu I was glad to see they're branching out into specials. Last night I opted for steak over chile rellenos. While the dish would have benefited from a sauce or some other unifying element, all of the individual components were enjoyable, especially the jalapenos. I agree with Hannah T. that the taco is better than the burrito if you're not into rice.

Oh man! Just what I needed. Don't let the ambiance fool you. They make a top quality burrito! If I find myself near again I'll be back to try other things.

First restaurant I stopped at when I landed in NYC because it was the closest place that was still open. I wasn't expecting much, I just needed something in my stomach. These tacos exceeded my expectations and then some. Definitely come here to get your taco fix.

I was in here about a month ago looking for some food to go. I noticed they had beef tongue. Being a fan of Food Network, I've seen it cooked. I decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 beef tongue ( lengua) tacos. It was not long before I got my food. It was 2 soft tortillas per taco with the beef tongue, cilantro, and onions. The tongue was a but chewy but not as bad as I thought. It did have good flavor. The lime wedges were necessary to add some moisture. This seemed more authentic because there was no cheese in the tacos.

It's late at night after a Mets game and we had taken the train back by the hotel. I checked Yelp and this place came up and was cash only. I only had $24 and wasn't sure what to get. Turns out I got two of the best beef and pork tacos I've ever had. Nice Mexican places don't have food this good. Place is tiny and no frills w just a few tables by the grill and otherwise is carry out. This place is a total hidden gem and a must try if you're a fan of tasty food and no frills places.

lets just say great burrito is very appropriately named! this has become one of our favorite places to grab food for taco tuesday when we're not wanting to cook. the portions are really big and everything is so fresh and delicious. we typically get the burrito, nachos (amazing wow), or the quesadilla. love that you get so much food for such a reasonable price and it is soooo delicious. dont judge this place on the appearance and give it a shot! it won't disappoint!!
