Great State Burger

Great place to have a burger for lunch or dinner if you are looking for a quick bite. The service is fast, and you can expect to get your burger in less than 15 minutes of waiting time. I ordered a great state burger and a hot coffee. It was cold in Seattle, so it was great to have a hot coffee. The burger was quite delicious and juicy.

It’s a fine burger place. Not bad, but not the best of all time. The biggest selling points are it is walking distance from the Amazon office buildings and if you don’t want to pay too much, the prices are under $10. Ex: I got a burger for $8.25. Albeit the portions are proportional to the size (they are small). I got a burger ($8.25 + $1 caramelized onions) and onion rings ($7) from them and I enjoyed them both. I also got their chocolate malt shake and that was good Inside is new and warm. I like how they have kiosks where you can order your burger. Reminds me of the kiosks at Shake Shack. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service is fine. You order at the kiosk so there’s not too much server interaction. They took a bit longer with my order but I think that’s because I ordered onion rings and they take longer to make.

A great spot to grab a quick bite. The place is clean and well-maintained, with decent service and reasonable prices. While I wish the food had a bit more flavor, it’s overall a solid option for a workday meal.

Nice little place to get a burger! Loved the option upon entrance to place my order and have a text message alert when it was ready. There is also regular counter service if that’s your thing. Fun little arcade area to play in while waiting, and TVs playing different sports programs during my visit. The burger was delicious, and the fries were crisped perfectly. My absolute favorite had to be the State Sauce. Omg SO GOOD.

What happened?! They use to have the best breakfast sandwich ever! I ordered the egg, hash brown and cheese sandwich with a whopping $3 price increase since last year and it was awful. All bread w/ minimal egg and hash brown and it was soggy. Did they change management l? I didn’t even recognize this sandwich. What an unfortunate miss. Disappointed. Not the same sandwich and certainly not for the same price.

That said, I just paid $25 for a cheeseburger, onion rings, and a diet cola that I ordered at a kiosk, picked up from the counter, ate at a bar-top, and then cleaned up after myself. It was overpriced a few months ago when that meal was $18, but at $25, the price now rivals a sit down restaurant with proper service. (And of course, the kiosk solicits a tip, too.) I suppose if their target market is rushed Amazon employees afraid to take more than a few minutes for lunch, then they can charge whatever they want. For me, I'm not in a hurry. There are some great restaurants in the neighborhood with similar pricing, where I can relax and a human will say hi, take my order, and bring me my food.

Worst burger 🍔 so far. Too expensive. I know inflation (or whatever) is bad but this is on another level.

I had the burger meal and it came with fries and milkshake. It was $25. The fries were really good but the burger and milkshake were meh. For the price, I was very underwhelmed. I got it to-go and the burger didn’t hold up very well at all. It is located close to the Amazon sphere and there’s free packing in the parking garage under the building. The lady that attended to me was very nice and when I went on a Monday evening, it was surprisingly empty so I got served very quickly. The fact that it was empty should have been a sign for me to keep it moving lol.

Delicious burgers and fries! My husband and I made a stop here for dinner! We love that the Amazon lot offers free parking after work hours and on weekends (the parking attendant said it's to help boost businesses!) We ordered at the kiosk and our order quickly came out. Burgers were solid! A little on the small side for the price but tasty and the fries were delicious. We also got a soda to share and they had so many unique flavors!

This was my first visit to Great State Burger. The location looked vibrant, and the food smelled good, so we thought we'd give it a try. The kid at the counter was very patient and helped us choose what to order. We ordered two great burgers and fries. I wanted my burger without cheese, but I received a cheeseburger anyway. Rather than complain, I just ate it. The food was okay. I liked the burger, but it was hard to tell whether or not it was actually good because all I tasted was the cheese. My sister prefers cheeseburgers, and she thought the burger was pretty decent. We both thought the fries were just ok. They definitely could have been better. They tasted a little weird to us but couldn't pinpoint what was off about them. Personally, I didn't care for the ketchup either. The Jones soda wasn't our favorite, but we liked the lemon lime and the berry lemonade. The cola flavored one was gross. We dined in and found the experience satisfactory. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. There were ample seating options despite it being around lunchtime. I'd eat at Great State again if given the opportunity.

Food portions way too small, especially for the Exaggerated price. Tables, booths,and floor are dirty The only reason why I am not giving one star is because the food is edible.

Extremely over priced, 22$ for a basic small hamburger and a chocolate shake. The amount of time it takes for them to complete and order when no one is around is not good.

Extremely overpriced fast food. This place is a joke they make it look like in their advertisement you're going to get a really big juicy Quality burger instead you get something that's equivalent to the size of happy meal or Dick's hamburger. I can eat at a legitimate burger spot such as Red Robin kid Valley or decent restaurant and get a way bigger better burger for a better price! The workers were not friendly not attentive the food came out really slow. Two burgers one fries and one drink came to over $47! That is insane. They literally wanted $15 for a regular size milkshake. And they only have the basic milkshake flavors. The french fries taste exactly like elementary school french fries or hospital cafeteria. The fries are the regular frozen crinkle cut french fries you can buy at your grocery store. Never going back I would not recommend this restaurant whatsoever. The only good thing I have to say is that there is decent seating close by And they didn't charge me for ketchup.

I ordered the onion rings and cheese burger. Service was quick ~5-10 minutes and people were nice. I liked the overall decor with the arcade area in the corner. Lots of space overall. The burger was very tasty and juicy. Onion rings were solid as well - I wish there were more in quantity though. I think I got like 4-5 rings.

The person who took our order was awesome! She had such a great disposition and was so helpful. We got the Great State Veggie Burgers without cheese (vegans)and with caramelized onions, and they were pretty good. We got onions rings and fries, as well. It was super busy, but we managed to snag a hightop. We didn't have to wait too terribly long for our food. I wouldn't say this is the most amazing veggie burger I've ever had, but it was completely acceptable as a last stop before heading home.

2 burgers, 1 fry, 1 onion ring for $50.73. Are. You. Kidding. Me.? You're a fast food joint. I can get the same for less at El Guacho.

It's still a pretty average place. I ordered a burger and they forgot the tomato and lettuce, so it was very plain. The portions are still small as usual and I don't like how they charge an extra dollar for caramelized onions. I do like their milkshake though. I got their chocolate malt shake this time and it tasted like melted chocolate ice cream which I love.

For a fast burger joint, this was satisfying. It's great that you can get a burger for under $10, but they are pretty small. The onion rings were pricy at $7, but they were amazing. Not too "oniony" and perfect crisp to them. Great location not too far from convention center and Amazon offices. Burgers and ingredients were fresh. Fast service and nice laid back casual ambiance. I would come back again and try the milkshakes. The state burger sauce was also great on my burger.

My wife and I decided to try this place out on 02/28/2025 @ 1030. It was the pier 54 store. We should have suspected something when we noticed 2 couples leaving with disgusting looking faces. We got 2 burgers, 1 order of fries, 1 soda, and 1 coffee for $44.73. Before I ordered, I asked the size of the burgers, the manager a female with dirty blonde hair said 1/4 lb...BS! Maybe if you were to take 3 patties and put them together. I also asked if the fries were a shareable size, her answer was "it's enough to make 2 grown ups full", again not true. When we got our food, the burgers were warm not hot. The fries seemed like they refried them to make them hot, sorry that didn't work either. Not only that, what little burnt refried fries we received were the ones you scrap from the bottom of the pan to throw away. The icing on the cake was when the manager/cashier came over to ask us how was everything. When we told her, she said the fries were fresh. I showed her our fries, her faced turned red. Nonetheless, she stuck to her guns and stood up for this poor, pitiful food and said your fries were freshly made. We took about 2 bites then threw away our food. However we did not leave, we sat there waiting for another couple to receive their food. Amazing, their fries were looking good, lightly golden brown not burnt​ looking. I pointed out the comparison, her reply was "let me look at your fries". She knew we threw out our food because she watched me do it. I would NEVER recommend this place to my worst enemy! Save yourself money and heart ache and stay far away from this dump. Two reasons for not giving a 0. First, the app would not allow it. Second, the drink were ok.

I tried the seasonal burger and it was decent. My only comment would be that the patty was pretty dry. But I liked the interesting flavor combo. I tried some of my friends fries and they were great! I think I'd comeback if I were in a pinch.

Got food poisoning - stay away from this place. Also, the food was absolutely rubbish and tastes like grease on cardboard. Wait, grease on cardboard tastes better than their food.

Why should I watch Nathan try to steal from me, and then happily patronize his business? I will not patronize ANY business owned by Nathan Yaeger, and I hope others join me.

Easy, inexpensive meal for four. Burgers nowadays can be $20 easily and it's nice to get a tasty simple burger for 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of most places. Tasty fries- not too salty. The wait was short and tasty smaller burger and fries hit the spot. They also can provide lettuce buns if you cannot eat the buns- they don't have GF buns but the lettuce is a good option and don't charge extra for it like other businesses. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Terrible, most horrible experience in my burger journey. Never have I ever tried such salty burger and it's so small too.

Burgers and fries here are great, food is ready in minutes! They have kiosks by the entrance for customers to order, which make ordering a lot easier. I also like the atmosphere here with some arcade games that we can play while waiting for food.

It was pricey and the food just isn't that good. We tried it while out in Seattle i personally wouldn't spend the money here again. Just wasn't for us.

Came here for breakfast, sadly enough for a burger. I had the hash brown and it is a patty that comes to catch up. Catchup and hashbrowns are the bomb. This person took my order was super nice, overall good food. BATHROOM REVIEW: there are two bathrooms, one person he's only. Do you need a code to get in, which I get because of all the truck people around that they want to take a vantage of a bathroom. Bathroom is super clean, and surprisingly well kept. Sit or squat? Sit!

Food was good. I could not tell when my order was ready, since the kiosk didn't give me an order number or text me.

This is a fine option if you're walking round that area. It's a very standard burger based lunch or dinner. You can get their classic burger, a plain burger, customize with a lettuce bun or sun out the meat, ask for extra pickles etc. They also have a Jones soda fountain! What a throw back! We got two great state burgers, fries and pickles to share and my partner got a chocolate shake. All the items are on the small side (which I kind of prefer since burgers are pretty dense)- similar in size to like Dicks hamburgers, and for the area, quality, and ability to customize, the price isn't that bad (it's not Dicks good of course but who can be?) I hate to say it but I didn't find the flavor/texture etc to be memorable or that enjoyable - it was similar or less delicious than like a McDouble. (Maybe you have to get the bun as well to actually have good flavor, but in terms of burgers...most the flavor is in the meat, condiments and extras inside...) The highlight for me were the crinkle fries that came in a adorable small bag. That was very good and cute. But again, the taste was kind of off and had I the choice of competitor fries, I'd take the latter. Very popular chain, not my favorite, but could be yours! Give it a try if you're in the area and just need something quick and standard.

My first time visiting Seattle....this was my first stop to eat in the city. To be honest, not a great kick off to the city. THe outside of the restaurant looked cool, they had a great vibe going on, but at the end of the it was a whole lot of meh. Not awful, but over priced for what you got - which was an underwhelming burger meal. I ordered a Hamburger, fries and a milkshake. It was simple to order in the nifty ordering machine whichever went it back to the kid tech to be made. When I got my meal it was a bit sad looking.....the burger was wrapped in paper (like old-school McDonald's TBH) the fries were crinkle cut that looked like they came straight out of a freezer section, and the shake was super-Doppler small. The burger was fine to eat - but underwhelming in flavor itself too. The shake was gone in a few short sips......and the fries I had 2 and didn't;t bother with the rest. Turns out there are a ton of really got stops in Seattle, if I am being honest.....stope elsewhere. In a quick pinch, the food was OK, but there are tons of other restaraunts int he area.

Used to eat here everyday at work, good food. One of the workers was very nice I don't know the name. Appreciate the grass fed meat and local ingredients

Are you kidding me with this place. I can see why multiple locations have closed, this place is an exercise in overcharging. At $4 this is the most expensive side of fries in fast food, it's also the smallest portion. The burgers pretty much taste like Dick's, the restaurant not the organ. However, they cost twice as much. I paid $14 for a child size fries and a mediocre burger. Who ever is giving this place 4 or 5 stars either has zero regard for money or a very low standard for what passes as anything more than ok. Again, with these prices, it could be a smoky, savory burger and I'd still vote thumbs down. I honestly didn't want to come here, but was asked to join, so in order to not appear to be a snob, I spent too much for a weak excuse for a meal. Even friends agreed that we should have ate elsewhere, but again, that sheep mentality is how this place stacks reviews, no one wants to speak up, but I guess when you are nested next to Amazon and a host of tech junkies that spend money like a bee spits honey, there you have it. 100% overpriced, don't spend your hard earned money here.

Burger was pretty good, except it was a little small for the price. I liked the fries though, they were crispy and not too salty. Service was pretty quick. Really the only problem is that the amount of food doesn't feel justified for the price.

I'll say it: their burgers are better than Shake Shack's. Their burgers taste fresh and staff has always been consistently friendly. I also love that I can order ahead of time on their website, as this has saved my lunch breaks several times. Why can I only give 3 stars? Because the size of their bugers isn't consistent, and sometimes the burgers are moderately warm. I noticed this last bit may be because of the lunch rush: seems they prep items so the workers can 'grab and pack' as orders come in (ex: several french fries already in their containers ready to be thrown into a bag or on a tray). A streamlined concept for the workers to cut down on prep, but the customer usually suffers as this impacts freshness. It seems the burgers are cooked medium as a standard (which is fine by me), but if you have a particular level you'll need to ask the cashier if this can be accomodated. Every time I've gone, they've never asked if I had a preference. Tips: -Ordering during the lunch rush (12-1pm)? Order ahead! That's right, you can place an order on their website and schedule a pick up time. You'll get a text message when your order is ready -Taking an order to go and want ketchup? Ask the cashier for some, as the containers at the ketchup pump (near the soda machines) are the paper cups/don't have lids -Street parking is hard to find. Best to park elsewhere and walk over -Indoor seating (tables and counters) are available, however during the rushes your best bet is to take your food to go

Very unspectacular Berger,I was hoping for something more than a thrown together. Tasted okay but not for a specialty burger not so.

With all the high star reviews I wanted to give this a shot as a quick bite on my way to an outing. Walking in the place was bright clean and the smell of burgers was in the air. I was excited! I saw the Jones soda and I was sold! I got a single and a single combo. That's two burgers, fries, and a drink. We sat ourselves down after getting some of solid tea and started to wait for the burger. The pager buzzed and I was on my way to heaven (so I thought). I have had much better burgers. Five guys patties were much tastier and for some reason the two patties we got tasted like there were pieces of paper in them (I would imagine it was just not very good patties). The bun looked amazing, but was cold...... The fries were really good, the ones that were not overly fried. Now I could see if this place was busy and I could give some leeway but there was hardly anyone here! All this I would have been ok for solid lunch location but, it was over $20 bucks! I think I would have liked a McDonald's burger.

I had the Great State Burger and it was just very mediocre. It's really not much different from a McDonald's or Dick's cheeseburger but is 2-3x the price. I was impressed by their fries bc crinkle cut fries are almost never actually crispy and these were but overall this place really isn't worth the price.

I agree with many of the reviews, this place is overpriced. I went all in on the Boss Burger and it was good, just not $13.00 good. My buddy had the cheeseburger and I would take a Dick's burger over it, every time. Service was fast, kiosk ordering.

This particular location does not know how to make a simple burger . I've always been a fan because the food is locally sourced and the fish sauce is something I really love . But with their prices being almost double for basic burger it's just no longer worth it.

Fantastic burgers, great ambiance and service! The veggie burger was amazing!!! It was crispy and great for vegetarians. A little pricey but quick service makes up for that! I would check it out if you are near by. Comparing to Shake Shack - this place is so much better!!!!

The servers here are friendly and the service is quick! The burgers are quite tasty too. As is the "great state" sauce. They offer lettuce wrapped burgers instead of bun for the carb conscious! However the problem lines in their Pricing. The single burger is tiny and costs $7.16 with tax. If you want extra toppings like bacon, that comes at an extra charge. This is wayyyy overpriced for the size. I get that their beef is grass fed but there's no way that tiny burger could justify the pricepoint. There are several better and cheaper burger places in the Belltown-SLU area.

It's not a bad option for a quick bite but it's not great either. It's strictly between okay and good. What was really disappointing was the sodas they had. They were quite evidently subpar and just further lowered the experience. I hope they don't lose more customers to it.

Honestly save your money this burger isn't worth the amount of money you pay for it. It tastes the same as an average fast food burger, but is 2.5x the price.

Really pains me to say it but Great State has fallen off ever since Sea Creatures took it over. The breakfast sammies, that used to be the BEST in Seattle, now are middling at best. They switched to wrapping them up, instead of the adorable little paper bags they used to come in, which has made the english muffins soggy from all the grease. They also recently changed the burgers, to add in different options and new buns, which makes no sense since they were amazing. This place went from a burger joint that compared favorably to In-N-Out to an expensive poorly executed Kid Valley. Renee, please fix this.

Not that great of a burger. The patty itself was really small compared to the size of the bun so it was a lot of bites of just bread. Fries were good and crispy. Save your money though and go to shake shack that's just down the street. Same price but much better quality of a burger.

Great State Burger is a solid burger joint sandwiched between the Downtown, Belltown and South Lake Union neighborhoods. You'll immediately fall in love when you notice the nostalgic decor of the place, which gives it a family friendly vibe. The burgers are straight forward. You have the option of ordering a single, double, kid's, or veggie burger that can be upgraded to a meal. I have had both the single and double. The sizes of both burgers are reasonable but if you also want fries and a milkshake, I highly recommend sticking with a single. I was feeling stuffed when I ordered a double combo meal. The burgers are generally filled with cheese, house sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. You can add sauce, raw or grilled onions at an extra 50 cents each or all 3 for $1.50. Personally the sauce isn't the best "secret" sauce I've had on a burger (I think it needs something tangy to complete it) so I'd skip on ordering extra sauce. Do go for the grilled onions, it gives the burger that extra flavor. The fries are fine. Crinkled cut fries aren't my favorite fries but I do like that these do have a little crisp to them. Two things I do like about Great State: Refillable Jones Soda station & you can order milkshakes in an 8oz size. Makes me happy knowing I can have both a burger and milkshake in one sitting without going overboard. Clean, straight to the point and efficient service. I can see myself coming back to Great State when I'm in the area or for a family function.

Overall, I give Great State Burger a solid 3.5 star rating. I've been here twice: Once for a Yelp event and another separate occasion. In my opinion, the staff was super friendly, and it's a good alternative option if you work in that Amazon hub-bub area. Pros: -Friendly staff -Quick service and food made to order -Atmosphere is clean and simple, with a slight modern twist. -They serve beer! Cons: -Costs can be considered a bit high/pricey (even if it's considered cheap relative to the other restaurants around them) -Meat was a little dry on the two occasions I tried them out.

Disclaimer - Came here as I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Yelp Elite event here. I have to say, This place is pretty darn good! It isn't In-n-Out, but pretty darn close. My husband and I got the double combo with the works and a small chocolate shake. They were ready to serve the hungry crowd so the service I experienced was quite quick. I did not expect burgers to be great, so it defo exceeded my expectations. The staff was super nice, quick, and courteous. Everything in this place is compostable amd organic! How do you not love that business model in Seattle?! Design of the food holders are genius, fries don't topple over because it has a flat bottom design. Now, why haven't anyine else thought about that is beyond me. Price point for a burger is a little higher, but keep in mind of the location and the grass-fed beef...then it becomes not too bad. Ibdefo recommend this place to people and I would defo come back for a burger myself! YUM!

Location: located next to Amazon HQ, Great State burger is easy to locate. Parking can be rough as there is only street parking. Note that Amazon's Day 1 building garage has free parking on weekday evenings (4pm onwards) and during all day on weekends, so that can be a parking option. Ambience: clean and spacious with plenty of seats. Seven booths that seat can seat four each, half a dozen tables, bar-type seating for five or six, and a few tables outside. Music. Clearly marked ordering and pick up areas. Service: friendly service. They keen the place clean. Self-serve soda from Jones soda machine (cane sugar cola, sugar free cola, root beer, lemon lime, ginger ale, green apple soda etc.). You'll get a buzzer which indicates when the food is ready. Food: tried the veggie combo and it was OK. The burger is smaller and simpler than I expected. Deep fried potato patty (it is crunchy but tastes a bit like oil), tomato, lettuce, onion (they ask raw or grilled onion), and sauce. Jones soda is good, but as it is cane sugar the cola tastes different than Coke or Pepsi. Fries were perfect. Value: $15 for the veggie combo does seem a bit much given the small burger, but it is prime real estate being right next to Amazon HQ. I might be back for the fries.

A bit spendy but the ingredients are quality and the burgers and fries are really good, shakes as well. Similar to shake shack but Great State is better.

I'm happy to find a "fast food" burger place nearby. The burgers here are far from greasy and oily fast food burgers. I actually thought that these burgers reminded me of home (In N Out). I really enjoyed that the buns were slightly crisp on the outside and I like how everything from here is local and organic. I enjoy places like this because it makes a comforting food better for your body without lacking in flavor. As for the fries, I liked those too. The crinkle cut fries are fun and were perfectly crisp. Overall, I would say that Great State can be pricey for what it is, but if you're looking for a fast burger that's very good, then this is the place. I know that when I have my next burger craving, I'll be coming back here.
