Green Kitchen - Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"People have been eating eggs in some form or another at Green Kitchen on the Upper East Side since they opened their original location in 1931. Today, it's still a brunch staple in the neighborhood, and tables are not easy to get. After 11am, be ready to wait while tables full of people in fancy loungewear and Alo sets sip mimosas and gossip. Expect some perfectly fine, down-the-middle diner classics, like a decent eggs benedict, and a breakfast burrito that begs for hot sauce. The mimosas cost $10 (and it’s $50 for a pitcher), the room is a gorgeous tiled forest green, and most of the dishes are under $20. Despite all that, there are much better options in the neighborhood for brunch." - Will Hartman

NYC Coronavirus Deaths in Restaurants and Bars: Those We’ve Lost - Eater NY

"The owner of longtime Upper East Side diner Green Kitchen died from complications related to the virus on March 30. A classic neighborhood diner that’s been at the same location on First Avenue and East 77th Street since 1931." - Tanay Warerkar

Stopped by Green Kitchen on 2nd Ave for a late lunch with a friend and had a great experience. We grabbed seats at the bar and ordered the French toast and a chicken sandwich—both were absolutely on point. Safe to say I cleaned the whole plate. Great food, chill vibe, and solid service. Definitely worth a visit!

I had a great experience at Green Kitchen Restaurant! I ordered the jalapeño burger, and it was absolutely delicious—juicy, flavorful, and had just the right kick of heat. To top it off, I had an espresso martini that was perfectly made—smooth, bold, and the ideal balance of coffee and cocktail. The vibe was relaxed, and the service was friendly. Definitely a spot I’d return to!

This was a great recommendation made by my friend who lives in the area. At first, I thought she was taking me to a vegan/vegetarian restaurant based on the name, but I realized when we got there that this was not the case. I appreciated the fact that they had a seasonal menu--it made it feel more special. Off of this menu, our table ordered the birria quesadillas and I got the lamb burger. YUM! I was so enamored of the food that I forgot to grab pictures before we devoured it. All I was able to capture was one of the 4 quesadillas that came on the plate. My lab burger was cooked well and was paired perfectly with the tzatziki sauce and English-muffin-esque bun. I would definitely come back here.

Green Kitchen UES is a must-visit spot for a fantastic meal and great drinks! Think upscale, yet modern and nostalgic like diner vibes (although some say its not a diner). We started with the espresso martini and smoky mango cocktail – both were crafted to perfection and packed with flavor. For our meal, we tried the chicken souvlaki platter, which was fresh and delicious, the steak and eggs, which were cooked exactly as ordered, and the pancakes with Nutella and strawberries, which were absolutely decadent and has to be a MUST try. Every dish was beautifully presented and hit the mark! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for brunch or a casual meal. We’ll definitely be back for more! Highly recommend!

Just had a brunch to remember at Green Kitchen, and it was everything I could’ve hoped for. I went for the Avocado Toast with Lox which was loaded with freshness. The Steak & Eggs were a hit too; the steak was tender and the eggs just right, not to mention those addictive GK fries. I also tried some French Toast with pecan and pear, which was just the right kind of sweet. But the highlight? Bringing my dog, Butter, along. He was treated like royalty with his very own Pup Cup, complete with his name drawn on it – so cute! He even got a taste of my steak, which he obviously loved. Great food, warm vibes, and super dog-friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

Food was incredible. Portions are solid and filling, with the food being served very quickly. However, the waiters were fairly unfriendly and the restaurant is way too loud. It was consistently ~85-90 decibels (couldn’t hear my family at the table) and the tables were squished together. In non peak hours I would absolutely be back.

1. Food was pretty good and portions were huge. One dish can probably serve two people. 2. The specialities dish, Hungry Man was definitely big enough for a hungry man. 3. Omelette and pancakes were made and served well, they were a well balanced dish. 4. The service was nice, fast, and attentive. 5. The restaurant can be packed and noisy, so best option is outside dining. 6. Overall, this restaurant is one of the best simple go-to brunch restaurants in NYC.

Went to Green Kitchen before a show. It was a perfect stop. I wish we could have had time to stay longer! The spritz with chartreuse was incredible (chartreuse is my favorite, I was SO excited to see the spritz on the menu). Had fish tacos, my partner had the hot chick sandwich - both were really great! Lovely atmosphere too.
