Grub & Vine

We had a lovely evening! Patronella was great and our Personal Highlight. We enjoyed a very delicious 6-course Menu with wine. Everything was wonderful and we will come back again.

Everything was possible standing outside. Nothing was possible inside. An extra 200 Rand for the music. A solo cliënt seat.... next to technics music. No view at music. The worst table altough lots were and stayed free. Wines were good. Mushrooms were tasteless but Lamb was very nice.

Couldn’t recommend enough. The food was superb and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Patronella. We had one guest with a dairy and egg intolerance and they were able to accommodate with slight changes to the dishes. Favourites included the Scallops, Venison and the Duck. The wine and cocktails were also delicious.

Amazing food and an even more amazing wine list, if thats possible! Each course was perfect. Some reviews I read before coming stated issues with the cost of dining here. I can honestly say for the standard of the whole experience, I considered our evening more than value for money. We pay a lot more for a lot less in Australia

Horrible experience and easily one of the worst dining nights I have ever had. We attended their New Year’s Eve set menu with wine pairing and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. It took over an hour just to receive the canapés, and throughout the evening dishes arrived without their wine pairings or wine arrived with no food to accompany it. There were 45-minute gaps between courses and we ended up spending nearly five hours there, ultimately missing the countdown entirely. The atmosphere was unbearable: extremely loud noise from the club next door, constant smoke from the smoke machine making it difficult to even see or smell the food, and staff repeatedly ignoring the situation so guests themselves had to keep getting up to close the door. Management appeared disorganised, unprofessional, and frankly indifferent to the chaos — at one point seemingly drunk — while cockroaches moved freely around the dining room without anyone reacting. The only positive was our waitress, who genuinely tried her best despite clearly being overwhelmed. For what we paid, the experience was shockingly poor and completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, a 12% gratuity was automatically added to the bill without any discussion. Absolutely not worth the price, the frustration, or the evening we lost. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place.

This restaurant is phenomenal! I loved every dish and the wine pairings were creative, thoughtful, and truly symbiotic with the food—elevating the flavors of both. My favorite/most surprising dish was the pan-fried Hake with seafood fricasse, paired with a 2024 La Brune Chardonnay. The venison and Radford Dale cab franc were also top notch. I truly loved every bite/sip and my server, Petronella, was so kind, delightful, and knowledgeable about the dishes, never steering me in the wrong direction. Definitely give Grub & Vine a try!

WOW! That is the only word to describe our experience here. We opted for the Canapés & 2 course menu and settled in for one of the most delicious meals we have ever had. The Haddock & beef canapés were the perfect start and taster to the next two courses. I had the crayfish crumpet for my first course & the duck for my main. They were, without a doubt, two of the most spectacular meals I’ve enjoyed. The duck was absolute perfection. Staff were attentive and the service was faultless. Their wine list is beautifully crafted. We will need to come back to Cape Town just to visit again! Thank you!

What a supper place. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. Petronella our waitress was amazing. The food, ambience and soft music was perfect. It is expensive but the food was excellent and plentiful.
