The 18 Best Saint-Martin Restaurants | Eater

"For generations, native Saint Martiners have infused Caribbean rum with spicy guavaberries. Nothing like the juicy guava fruit trees from Latin America or Asia, this native tree (Myrciaria floribunda) is in the same family as clove and allspice, and its sweet-tart berries give the rum a spicy, bittersweet flavor. “It’s not Christmas without guavaberry,” says Louis Maccow, who founded the Guavaberry Colombier with his wife, Luz-Maria Maccow. After perfecting their recipe for the traditional spirit, the Maccows created a lighter version with a softer guavaberry taste, along with a vast line of liqueurs infused with everything from mango and sorrel (hibiscus flower) to coconut and cashew fruit. The surprise hit: the creamy peanut liqueur you never knew you needed. [$$]" - Maria C. Hunt

Luz Maria was very friendly and informative. She has been making this rum for a long time, I recommend chatting with her about the process! I picked up several bottles for friends and myself back home.

Looking for something special to take home from St. Martin? Try the locally Guavaberry spiced rum. Delicious to sip or over vanilla ice cream. They have lots of other flavors too.

I have a fondness for guavaberry, as my family hails from Saint Martin. However, I would like to highlight a concern regarding the hospitality provided by the staff. During my visit, an employee consistently hovered near my family and me without inquiring if we required assistance or offering explanations about the products. This behavior created an uncomfortable atmosphere, as it appeared that the employee was more attentive to vocal customers who were sampling products rather than addressing our needs. A family member addressed this issue directly with the staff member, who subsequently offered an apology. Given the significant amount of money we spent on products, I believe there is a pressing need for an improvement in customer service standards.
