"After over a decade, Hub 51 has been replaced by this River North cocktail spot. Along with drinks that all are $12, the menu has starters like open-faced crab rangoon, dippable wagyu or chicken sandwiches, and dishes like steak frites." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen
"It’s hard to find a good cold gin martini for $12 in River North, but Gus’ Sip & Dip has one. In fact, all 30 of their cocktails are strictly $12, including throwback recipes like a smooth, Manhattan-y Adonis. The food menu is less exciting and more expensive, and the slightly underwhelming $25 wagyu sandwich is better as a break from lots of drink exploration than a main event. Gus’ Sip & Dip has only been open a couple of weeks, but it’s already got a big scene of first dates and post-work hangs in their various leather booths. Check it out before the walk-in-only crowd gets bigger." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, nick allen, nick allen, nick allen, john ringor, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor,
"Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises waved goodbye to Hub 51 on Hubbard Street by freshening up the space and focusing on affordability. The drinks at Gus’ are all $12 each, and there is a happy hour special every day with one drink for $6. There’s also a small bar menu with a wagyu dip sandwich." - Ashok Selvam
"River North isn’t always easy to navigate, and it’s often one of those neighborhoods that have no trouble with overcharging customers, blaming inflation, real estate, or finding some reason to squeeze folks. Gus’ Sip & Dip, at least on paper, is the antidote for that. Lettuce Entertain You has transformed the former Hub 51 into a bar with daily happy hours and the promise that all cocktails are priced at $12 each. There’s also a modest food menu, and light and dark beers, a tribute to McSoreley’s, the venerable New York tavern." - Samantha Nelson
"It’s tough to find a bar with a really good craft cocktail for less than $13 in Chicago. And when you do, the food options are usually chips that have been hanging over the bar for a couple of years. Gus’ Sip & Dip in River North is an exciting standout for having both excellent drinks that are strictly $12, and a menu that features more than just stale snack food. This walk-in-only restaurant with a big center bar surrounded by leather booths has a pretty typical River North feel, and is full of date nights and post-work hangs. The sips are the main reason to come here—the 30 drink options include throwback recipes like a smooth, Manhattan-esque Adonis, or a wonderfully, plainly cold gin martini. The dishes are a little less exciting and more expensive, but if you want a large meal to eat as you work through the extensive cocktail list, get the $25 wagyu beef sandwich with crispy bread. Just make sure to offset the meat’s underwhelming flavor with plenty of the au jus dip and horseradish spread." - Nick Allen
