Best Restaurants Near Los Angeles Hiking Trails | Eater LA

"As an intermediate to advanced hike, trekking Mount Baldy is no easy affair. After a hard day on the trails, head to the Claremont location of Gus’s barbecue. The barbecue restaurant first opened in 1946 in South Pasadena before expanding to Claremont in 2018. Order the cast-iron cornbread, pulled pork, and glazed ribs, and charred jalapeño grits for a full feast as reward for finishing one of the area’s most challenging hikes. Barbecue combination platters are available and a good way to mix and match." - Rebecca Roland

I had the pleasure of being served by an incredible redheaded bartender Belén during my recent visit, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about how great the experience was. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and an energy that instantly made the place feel more inviting. You could tell she genuinely cared about creating a comfortable, fun atmosphere for everyone at the bar. She was quick with recommendations and even quicker with the drinks—crafted perfectly every time. What really stood out was her attention to detail and the way she remembered what people were drinking, even checking in to make sure everything was just right. She had this effortless way of striking up conversation that made you feel like a regular, even if it was your first time there. If you’re lucky enough to catch her on shift, you’re in for a great night. This bartender isn’t just mixing drinks—she’s elevating the whole experience. Cheers to top-tier service and the kind of hospitality that keeps you coming back!

This was my first time visiting this place and I say first time because I’ll definitely be back. There was no wait on getting a table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer(deviled eggs). Both came out fast. The drinks were strong and the food was good. Then we ordered our meals. The bbq chicken dinner I ordered was great. The chicken was tender and flavorful. I ordered 4 different sides which you can see in the pictures. All of them were slapping. Meaning, they were good. My wife ordered the catfish and grits to which she said was some of the best ever. Our waitress Jordan was very knowledgeable and polite. She had a sense of humor also. The assistant manager Joe came over to ask how everything was going. This was a surprise because you normally don’t get that at most restaurants. I would definitely recommend going to this place. You won’t be disappointed at all.

Solid! Good food, nothing spectacular, but my BBQ standards are pretty damn high so that's still a respectable comment. Anyways. Got the 10oz brisket with fries and Mac cheese. Pretty tasty. The sauces were decent, but again not going to be super standout imo. I think it's definitely worth going and a really cool area to walk around and explore. Will be back for sure.

From what I got I don't know if I would call it true southern style barbecue or Texas barbecue. The brisket was very dry and not juicy. now, I did have it on a baked potato so maybe they use old brisket pieces but it didn't taste fresh. My daughter, on the other hand she loved her burger and my mom thought the catfish was fried perfectly and really fresh. We ordered the cornbread for appetizer. That was really good and I really enjoyed the mint blueberry lemonade.

Google
Top notch BBQ spot!! The ambiance is perfect, loved sitting out in the patio to enjoy our lunch, customer service was outstanding and would give them more than 10 ⭐️.. the food? AMAZING.. all of the food items we ordered were perfection.. ribs, fried chicken, creamed corn & corn bread and we had the deviled eggs for appetizer and that was also very good. Their BBQ’s sauces are so good I could drink it hahaha. This will definitely be our go to spot for BBQ.. but, they also serve an amazing breakfast menus as well so have to try that next 👌

I’ve been to Gus’s BBQ in Claremont many times, and every visit has been consistently great. Whether dining in or catering, the service is always top-notch. The staff is attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. Our most recent visit was for my daughter’s birthday—her one request was Gus’s mac and cheese. Our server, Kate, was incredibly sweet with her, and as any parent knows, you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat your kids. My wife and I really appreciated that extra kindness. Since we went mid-week on a rainy evening, the restaurant was quieter than usual, which was a nice change from the typically lively weekend crowd. I started with an Arnold Palmer, which was perfectly balanced, and we shared an order of sweet potato fries—crispy, flavorful, and paired with an amazing dipping sauce (not sure what’s in it, but it was a hit with everyone). For my main meal, I went with the ribs and two-meat platter, choosing St. Louis ribs, brisket, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I devoured it all. My sides—creamed corn and dirty rice—were just as good. To top off an already great meal, they brought out a sundae for my daughter’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you’re looking for great BBQ, a warm atmosphere, and excellent service, Gus’s BBQ never disappoints.

Google
Peach don't kill my vibe and blueberry lemon drop Both really good loved the blueberry a little bit more if your more of a sweet drink girl The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming as were the bartenders. They were on it even though they were closing soon. Saw them serve others that came in after us and they got the same friendly I'm here for what ever you may need service. They were nice and understanding when I was trying to decide on a drink. I really liked that the female bartender heard me trying to decide between two drinks and let me know that one of them isn't as sweet as it sounds. Very attentive and aware of their customers needs. I loved the guy bartender hospitality vibes. Love, would come again, would recommend to a friend, would bring my grandma

The food was good and servings are large. Under staffing hurt as follow-up service didn’t exist. what made things worse that we both had stomach issues shortly after leaving. I really wanted to like gus’s but not worth ruining your day to be by a bathroom. This place is for those with an iron stomach. Its an avoid location and a skip the pasadena location as its a small chain 3 locations.

Yelp
Just had a visit to Gus's BBQ! Very impressed! Food is great the brisket literally falls apart so tender and juicy! Pulled pork had great flavor and texture very nice to eat! The Memphis ribs had a good spice to them with a little heat. (Also very tender). Service was amazing! Honestly couldn't find any issues or complaints! Thank you so much JULIAN! I'm sitting at the table writing this! Food is to die for! Definitely will be back!!!

Yelp
We had a 40th birthday surprise party for my son 12/07/24. Everyone at Gus's was most accommodating, they all went above and beyond to help make it special. Plus the food was outstanding. Also the manager D'Andre is a Buffalo Bills fan-from one Buffalo Bills fan to another, Thank you! For your next get together or stopping in for lunch or dinner, give Gus's a try . You will enjoy the great food and service. Thank you all again!

Yelp
The St. Louis ribs, which are so perfect they should run for office. And the brisket? My God, it's the kind of brisket that makes you question all your life choices. Smoky, juicy, with just enough fat to keep it rich but not overwhelming. It's like biting into a piece of barbecue philosophy--deep, satisfying, and it leaves you thinking about it for days. It's proof that barbecue, when done right, is as close as you'll get to heaven without actually dying. Thank you LANA!!!!!

Yelp
Gus's Barbecue is an absolute gem, especially if you're looking for an amazing dining experience in the evening or at night. The location is lovely, with seating options both inside and out, but I highly recommend sitting indoors to fully enjoy the beautiful ambiance and decor--it's warm, inviting, and perfect for any occasion. The seating accommodates all party sizes, so it's easy to find a spot whether you're with a group or dining solo. The food was incredible--I ordered the pulled pork nachos, one of their signature burgers, and a Charred Citrus Mule. While everything was fantastic, the nachos were the star of the show, packed with flavor and an absolute must-try! Our waitress made the experience even better--she was fun, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. Before leaving, I picked up a bottle of their branded honey mustard sauce, and I highly recommend grabbing one of their sauces to take home--it's that good! Gus's Barbecue is a must-visit for delicious food, great service, and a memorable evening!

Yelp
My family has been raving about Gus's BBQ for a while now and I FINALLY got to have the experience. It's located in downtown Clairmont, so the evening vibes are perfect for a night out, date night, or just a stroll. Upon walking up, we were greeted and seated within moments. Our server was very friendly and rejoiced in our enthusiasm to finally try the hype. Digging right into the menu, we started our meal with the Spinach & Artichoke dip, Arnold Palmer and Blueberry Lemonade to drink. The Blueberry Lemonade was made in-house - delicious, refreshing, and tart. The artichoke dip was a good indicator of the flavor experience to come. Being a date night, I opted to share a Combo with Spare Ribs, Brisket, and Pulled Pork. Our sides were Baked Beans, Creamed Corn, and Mac n Cheese. This meal was the perfect portion for 2 with no left overs and full bellies. The meats were all honestly very good. Personally, I prefer my food to be HOT off the grill, steaming fresh. Neither of the meats were hot, just warm which I'll make note of to request for the next visit. The creamed corn was phenomenal. The sweetness balanced the savory from the meat very well. I was not a fan of the baked beans, although they were palatable. The mac n cheese was pretty standard. Aside from my own personal preferences, the food is delicious and well-crafted. The BBQ meats are definitely the star of the show here and I'd be happy to return and try more of the expansive menu.

Yelp
We stopped by to have a girl's night and celebrate my birthday on a Friday evening and TJ was so patient with our inebriated giggles and indecisiveness. He served us on a relatively busy night for a couple hours. He patiently checked on us various times and made recommendations. All around, he made our visit very pleasant. We had appetizers off the happy hour menu, a steak salad, fried pickles, deviled eggs, butter sheet cake and of course cocktails. Gus's is always a great spot for good food with a fun vibe.

Yelp
We came here on a super cloudy afternoon. Parking was very easy to find, there was some out front and they also have a large parking structure across from the restaurant to park at. We walked to the front which was outside and was seated very quickly for 6 people, 2 adults and 4 kids. We were seated outside and we asked if they can turn on the heaters since it was pretty cold. They have some seating inside but it didnt look big. A lot of people were sitting outside which is a larger area. We ordered the rib and 2 meat combo. We got pulled pork and brisket which are our favorites plus we love the ribs. It also came with 2 sides. We chose Mac and cheese and sweet potatoe fries. The portions werent huge but I split it with my wife. It was enough to satisfy us but wasn't too filling. If you're hungry you can probably finish the whole thing. They had BBQ sauce on the table which the meat definitely needed. The Kansas City BBQ was my favorite. It was sweet and tasty and went really well with the meat. My kids also got sliders and chicken tenders, each meal came with a side and fruit and a drink. Those were pretty big for kids. They didnt finish it all. Service was okay, she checked on us a few times and was friendly. It was a very nice time in Claremont and this BBQ place was very good.

Yelp
Came to the area for work and was recommended the tri tip on a busy night. The servers were all attentive and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. For a BBQ restaurant, their serving speed was quite quick as well. Food was good, but portions were smaller than I expected for the price point. I personally liked the cream corn and mash a lot more than the tri-tip (which felt more "expected" than out of this world)
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
Came in with a large group for a birthday party. My partner and I ordered the picnic bbq which comes with 3 meats and two sides as well as the gumbo. We enjoyed the baby back ribs and chicken but the brisket was dry. His father ordered the tri tip which was also dry. Seems like they don't have the beef down. The chicken was tender so I would get that again but I wish there was more meat on the ribs. It wasn't fall off the bone but it had decent flavor. The gumbo was good. Had a nice smoky flavor but needed more spice or a kick. None of the sides stood out -corn bread bites, cheese dip, mac and cheese, coleslaw. I did enjoy a bite of someone else's pork nachos though. Is this the best place for bbq? No, but it had good vibes and the staff was nice. .

Yelp
What have I been waiting for is my first question! Gus has multiple locations and repeat customers. I've only had their food once before this recent visit. It is OUTSTANDING and finger-licking good! The meats are slow-cooked in their smoker. They have great options on BBQ sauce, or go for the dry-rub, which is my preference with light sauce while on the grill. We ordered the brisket sandwich and Tri-Tip too. The side dishes are the ultimate to any BBQ platter: Honey Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Creamed Corn (my favorite), to name a few. My son orderd a Root Beer Float ... yum!! The portions are good so you are really paying one price for two meals when your leftovers are your lunch the next day. Come hungry, tie your hair back, and get ready to chow down. If your appetite does not wake up when you smell the grill walking towards the restaurant, then order a light meal from the Happy Hour Bites from 4PM-6PM. There is plenty of free parking in the parking structure next door. Enjoy the Southern Cooking and Southern hospitality, don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya!!

Yelp
Came here with friends on a busy Friday night. We did however make reservations and were seated promptly! Our server was very kind and attentive even though it was super busy! I ordered the chickens and waffles which was pretty good. Drinks were good as well! I'd come back and try something else!

Yelp
Came here for brunch around 10:30 am we were taken such good care of. The manager personally made sure we were okay and even was able to get us a corn bread a little bit before it was officially lunch. This was our second time here and I HAD TO get the cornbread skillet. The food and service is always good but if i had to choose, I'd come for lunch. You can not beat the BBQ here!

Yelp
Service is great and pleasing décor, came here on a weekend for a lunch date and it was just right. We opted to sit out door to enjoy the weather. I love the location, great place to take a walk after. A glass of sangria was just what I needed, refreshing. Pulled Pork Nacho- pretty big and was sharable. All the topping complimented everything. Chips were a little greasy on the bottom, we didn't end up finishing them.

Yelp
Nice place for a Friday night date at the Packing House in downtown Claremont, with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. On a warm day like tonight, the patio tables were quite pleasant. There's a great selection of cocktails: I enjoyed a Gus' Old Fashioned and my husband ordered a flight of whisky. Our server Andy was attentive and professional. He let us know that Gus' takes reservations, which is helpful. I enjoyed my House salad and bbq sliders while my hubby enjoyed the brisket plate with garlic mashed potatoes and string beans. We appreciated the variety of sauces available on each table. Portions and prices reasonable. Very satisfying meal. I love to stroll around Claremont after dinner for exploring, people watching, and window shopping! Next time I'll plan to come to Gus' with a bigger appetite to try the catfish and chips!

Yelp
Everything was DELICIOUS!!!! The apps came out fresh and hot. Taste was so good. Margarita was amazing. Portions were big for dinner, had plenty of leftovers. Our server was polite and quick with refills and to find out answers to any of our questions!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to try their HH. We had the sangria which was excellent! Most drinks were about $9. We also ordered the burger which comes with fries and a bourbon for $22 great deal, delicious burger and fries and strong bourbon. The rib sliders were a bit too sweet for my taste. The ice cream was fantastic- I think it was butter scotch and from Fossilman's. The beers were good I heard $6. The weather was pleasant to sit outside. Plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. Our server, Charlie, was super attentive and friendly, thanks for great service!

Yelp
Wow what a difference from the last time I was here , this place is delicious all the meats and sides are amazingly fresh and full of flavor! From the host to the waiter great experience. I order a gimlet and it was definitely delicious . Music is not too loud and add excitement to the experience. I definitely will be coming back. Worth saying I love when managers come to the table to make sure you are well served and loving the food, and today we had the chance to tell him how much we loved the food !

Yelp
Gus'; the food's always good. Particularly those baked beans; they are amazing. The service was great.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
First time trying this place and it did not disappoint! The service is amazing, extremely kind and attentive. They always refilled our waters and checked up on my table. The food itself was very good. The ribs were slightly difficult to eat at some parts, but the flavor is all there. The sweet potato fries had a nice crunch and thickness to it. I also tried the potato salad and Mac n Cheese which were all super delicious. I would come back again and try the combo special with ribs and two choices of meats.
google avatar

Marleen M.

Yelp
We went to Gus's for my daughters birthday. The manager and our server were super accommodating! I just had surgery a few weeks ago and we were sat at a higher table. I asked if our party of 8 could be moved and it was done right away. The food is always great and the atmosphere is easy going and nice! The only reason I took 1 star away is because when I called to make the reservation, I asked for an outside table and we were sat inside. The weather was perfect so it would have been great to be out there but we will be back!
google avatar

Kiana D.

Yelp
My new favorite is their mac n cheese, definitely my fav spot that has mac n cheese in Claremont.. GUS'S MAC N CHEESE IS AMAZINGGGG
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
As a family we have been here several times and everytime it's a hit. If you are visit for breakfast definitely get their waffle, it's absolutely delicious. Dinner time I recommend any of there meats, they are super tasty. My son loves there ribs with a side of mac and cheese. Service is always on point. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Wonderful experience! We went on a busy Friday night and it was packed. We were swiftly greeted and sat, which is always a great start. Our server was fun, attentive and quick. Wish we would have gotten her name! The drinks were fantastic. We tried the peach don't kill my vibe and a blueberry cocktail. Both were aromatic, refreshing and different! Everything we ate beyond exceeded our expectations. We were blown away at how everything tasted. From the chips and salsa to the deviled eggs, even my fiancé said they had good Coca-Cola (meaning not flat soda)... which for her standards; very hard to come by! Again, the food was all exceptional. Everything tasted fresh while being able to taste every ingredient. We would definitely come again for our BBQ fix! Another A+ for the plating! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the outreach from both Sunny and Ben to rectify my previous experience, take the time to have a fruitful discussion, and ensure that proper training is implemented to create a consistent customer experience during all business hours. Even though each review is a snapshot of an experience, I appreciate the immediacy of resolution and trust that each patron will be treated with the same care and appreciation that I've come to know Gus's BBQ for. Enjoy your visit, experience, and food at Gus's!

Yelp
Was feeling like some good barbecue so took my wife out on a date. The barbecue was amazing, both the brisket and ribs were great. The sides of macaroni & cheese and the jalapeño grips hit the spot. The service was fast and friendly, everything was great.

Lulu G.

Yelp
Food was delicious a better version of Lucile's bbq. The tri tip was moist and delicious, the cream corn was by far the best thing. Caesar salad, was good but needed salt. All servers were attentive and service was great.

Yelp
If you need a local spot for amazing pulled pork and overall bbq come to Gus!! Their pulled pork nachos have so much flavor and fill you right up, this is definitely one of my must stops when In down town Claremont. To quench your thirst their lemonades are amazing and hit the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
My last experience at Gus's was not a great one per my last review. One of the supervisors from the restaurant reached out to me privately to apologize and offered a compensation to give them a second opportunity. I finally got around to going back this past Thursday night with my husband and we enjoyed our visit much better! Granted, it wasn't as busy as our first time but the service was quick and friendly. We were checked in with a few times and our food came out quickly. We ordered the pulled pork nachos and a side of mac and cheese again. We loved the flavor last time but the food came out cold. This time around, our food was warm and of course, it made them taste even better. We also tried the cast iron cornbread and BBQ sliders. The corn bread came with honey and jalapeno jelly which complimented it well. The BBQ sliders were quite yummy as well. Overall, I am happy that we decided to give Gus's a second chance and look forward to coming back to get our favorites from their menu and possibly try new things.

Yelp
I'M SO HAPPY, I HAD HAPPY HOUR AT GUS'S!!! I've been going to Gus's since they came to Claremont. I love the FOOD and service. I don't go to Happy Hour for the drinks, I go for the food! Last night I went for happy hour and enjoyed the Brisket Slider and 1/4 Wedge Salad (see photos). Atmosphere was a fun one, perhaps it was because it was HAPPY HOUR! The prices are fantastic! I highly recommend Gus's!
google avatar

Christel H.

Yelp
Had this spot on my mind for a while and finally came in, so sad it took this long! Probably the best meats to come out cooked well and seasoned even better. Ribs fell off the bone and the brisket was so tasty. CORN BREAD was by far my favorite!! Plus the side of cream corn was delicious. The tables near the bar were my favorite and the inside was decorated so cute, especially the sign on the ceiling. Service was great and the Manager was super welcoming.
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Gus's never disappoints. I was crazy a bbq chicken sandwich and they made it happen. I went around 6 pm and there was no wait to be seated. The restaurant is nice and open with both indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were all amazing and the food was great.

Yelp
This place is becoming one of my family's favorite spots. The food and service is top notch. Excited to go next time!

Yelp
I LOVE GUS! We dine here almost once a month because I crave it. Whether I get the ribs, fried chicken, pulled pork sandwich, or nachos, I am never disappointed. We always order the deviled eggs for starters, and my husband really likes their side salad, which is reason enough in itself to dine here because he doesn't normally eat salad. The service is always incredible, and I have complimented the GM on this many times. From the moment we walk up to put our name on the list to the end when we get our check, we are spoken to in a friendly manner, with a smile, and with happiness. Our food is always out fairly quickly, and we never have to wait for refills. This location surpasses our experience at the Pasadena location, which makes me happy because this one is closer to us! Dine or Dash? Well.... I already said we dine at least once a month!
google avatar

Herrick D.

Yelp
Overall, an excellent dining experience at Gus' for a cold Friday night. We were immediately seated and appreciated how nice and toasty outdoor seating was especially with the plentiful amount of heat lamps adorning the ceiling. As I already had a meal prior, we only wanted to order some cocktails and snack on appetizers while the night was still young. My wife suggested their cornbread with butter and spicy/hot honey which came out in a small cast iron... absolutely devine. Our friends ordered a combo platter which also looked delicious. The cocktails were great as well, I personally loved how refreshing my Moscow Mule tasted. Although it was a busy Friday night, the parking structure is situated adjacent to the restaurant which made traversing the place easy and was free! This is definitely an awesome place to spend the night out with some friends.

Yelp
Great food, nice service and nice atmosphere. Recommend to have some pulled pork nachos and some BBQ briskets...... excellent flavor and texture

Yelp
I'm picky...so when I give 5 stars it says something...Always great service. My favorite is the bbq chicken sandwich with potatoes salad. Mac and cheese is amazing!

Yelp
I went to order my takeout in person because online it would not allow me to make any alterations. Sadly, even ordering in person requests were not met. They forgot my coleslaw and my side order of barbecue sauce. It seems every time I order takeout from Gus's barbecue there's always something missing or the order is messed up. this is unfortunate since I really do like their food. Update. The manager reached out quickly and said they will speak to staff to address the problems. They apologized and even offered a gc which I thought was nice. Hopefully our futures visits are better.

Emily L.

Yelp
We arrived here at 2:30, which was already past lunchtime. About 70% of the seats were empty. There were three hosts standing in front, chatting, and we waited at the entrance for 20 minutes without anyone seating us. It wasn't until I went up and asked that they slowly showed us to a table. People who arrived after us were seated before us. We were with a little child who was tired and hungry, waiting all that time, and we could see the reception staff up front just chatting away. It felt like they had completely forgotten about us. I come to this restaurant almost every two weeks, and their front desk staff is always this lax, but today was the worst experience. I hope management can pay attention to this. Your customers are waiting, and yet the front desk staff seems completely unconcerned, just chatting away. We were tired and hungry, standing there waiting, and they acted like they didn't care at all.

Yelp
My coworkers and I came here for our Christmas dinner a few days ago. Despite making the reservations less than a week prior to the event they were able to accommodate our party of 10 no problem. Super grateful for that! This wasn't our first time dining here and truly enjoy coming here bcus there's something for anyone to enjoy on the menu. A fan favorite we must always get is the cornbread! It's sweet and savory with the jalapeño jam. I ordered the baby back ribs, brisket, and jalapeño cheese sausage with collard greens and red potato salad. Definitely too large of a portion for me to finish, but makes a great left over lunch! My favorite was definitely the greens and sausage. The only thing I'd probably like to improve is the baby back ribs. I felt like it was really dry and hard to eat. Otherwise, everything was good. They have seating for outside and indoor. It has a very chill vibe to the place, and makes it a great spot to lounge and enjoy drinks with company.

Yelp
Food was delicious, short ribs, Mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes, cornbread. The ambiance was great for dinner, comfortable and well priced for a date night on a budget. Service was excellent staff was friendly and waiter, host and food runner all came and asked if we needed anything. This place checked every box of a restaurant in my opinion.

Yelp
Sat quickly as we had outdoor seating on cool night warm heaters around so perfect. Dylan came by and we talked about all kinds of food options and went with the 2 orders of the Picnic Platter, we went with Baby back ribs, brick chicken, brisket backed beans and sautéed green beans. and the other was St Louis spareribs, bbq chicken, pulled pork coleslaw, and baked beans. Chicken was extremely juicy, Brisket was not your texas bbq but flavorful. was not a fan of the bean's but others liked it at our table. the green beans were very tasty. Dylan, our server, stayed on top of the water and brought over hand wipes to keep us clean. We started with the spicy chicken wings and an order of deviled eggs. the folks at the table grabbed them before I could get a good shot. They were yummy! My wife went with a tostada salad. looked delicious!

Yelp
Love Gus's. Everytime I come to eat here I tell my self to take pictures of the food. But I start eating before I do lol Met up with a groups of friends on Friday and we had a wonderful time. Our server was so sweet and efficient, my sliders were perfect and my Caesar salad was a very generous portion. Everything I have tried here has been yummy and consistent. Nice date night or meet up spot.

Yelp
Loved it! For easy BBQ, my fav spot is usually Wood Ranch and this may be tied with it now. I ordered the baby back ribs, fries, and Mac and cheese. Every bit was great, only downside was the cornbread appetizer. I am not a fan of sweet cornbread or sweet butter, so if you like that then this is your spot.

Yelp
I recently visited Gus's BBQ for lunch, and I have to say it was pretty good! The atmosphere is warm and rustic. The star of the show has to be their in-house sauces; each one with flavor that complements their rich, smokey meats. Oh, and the portions are generous so save lots of room! The staff is friendly, and the overall experience left me more than satisfied. I'll definitely be back to try more off their menu!

Yelp
Was quite surprised with how good Gus's was. We were driving between LA and La Quinta and looking for a place for dinner and since there aren't any good BBQ place in the desert that I've found we stopped in Claremont and what a great find and great little Main Street. We will be back as we do this trip often.

Yelp
Good food, good and attentive service. Ordered the ribs, brisket, sasuage (delish), and chicken. Really good potato salad, mac-n-cheese was okay, and greens. The only complaint is there were to many thick stems in the side dish of greens. Once removed, there was very little greens.
