"Founded in 1946 and widely regarded as Los Angeles’s oldest barbecue restaurant, this longtime barbecue institution has modernized its image over the years and is expanding from South Pasadena to Claremont. The new location will take over the defunct Casablanca Bar and Grill on 1st Street in the Packing House/business corridor, a short walk (one long block) from the Foothill Gold Line stop and within dining distance of the Claremont Colleges. The space emphasizes outdoor dining — roughly 1,300 square feet of patio that includes a lounge with a fireplace and a bar that opens to the outdoors — and will offer the same core menu of ribs, tri-tip, sausages, and sides while placing a bigger emphasis on a full bar stocked with whiskey. The move is planned for late May or early June, though no official opening date has been announced." - Farley Elliott
