They have the best fried okra I’ve ever had. It takes real skill to get fried okra right. The breading was so crunchy and the okra was cooked through to perfection. Perfect amount of batter. The rest of my meal was great as well. The staff was super friendly as well, and our kids enjoyed their time coloring and eating! Plenty of FREE parking!

First time at Gus’s Fried Chicken Nashville and wow! flavor packed spice that doesn’t hurt, just hits right. Chicken was crispy, juicy, and unforgettable. Staff? Sweet as sweet tea. Prices? Too good to be true. Oh, and the pecan pie? Buttery, nutty, not too sweet. Best I’ve had. must-try in Nashville!

Destiny was an amazing server. She asked if it was our first time here and went into the spice levels of the chicken. The food recommendations were very helpful. The chicken is amazing. One thing that surprised me the most is how clean the male restroom was. My overall experience here was the best I’ve had in a while. I will definitely be back with family and friends. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent chicken. Made fresh and HOT. The skin is perfectly crispy and the meat juicy. Great flavor. Sides are good. Fair bottle/can beer selection, including a couple of large format options ;) reasonable prices.

Trash!!! They give you pork and beans and call them baked beans, the Mac n Cheese is bland,I was gonna get the corn nuggets also but it was almost $10 for an order of corn nuggets,and the chicken is under cooked and very little heat which is ok if there was some flavor to it. Very disappointed and now I know why I have not ever stopped in til now. I most definitely will not be going back and do not recommend this establishment. Not to mention the air conditioning was leaking on me as I ordered!!!

I decided to give Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken a try but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. The sides were disappointing. The greens lacked flavor and the mac and cheese had no real cheesy taste. It seemed like it was made without any dairy. To make matters worse, one of the chicken wings looked undercooked which really turned me off from the meal. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for.

The fried chicken is excellent but the sides, not so good. The employee recommended the fried rice and it was so bland I threw it out. The Mac and Cheese was better, but nothing stand out. I would not order sides if I visited again.

I'm giving this a 5-star rating as the restaurant excels at what it offers. When you walk in you're greeted with what can only be described as southern hospitality. The wait staff immediately greeted me, there's a juke box in the back corner playing tunes, and mismatched chairs with checkered table cloths. The decor is exactly what is expected of a restaurant with "world famous fried chicken in the name." On to the most important aspect, the chicken. This is NOT a Nashville hot chicken spot. This is a fried chicken spot. Big distinction. I'm assuming their spice level caters to tourists because it is mildly spicy at best. However, it is some of the best fried chicken I have had in Nashville. The chicken is brined in pickle juice and retains so much moisture. The crust is super yummy. And the spice mix is excellent. Seriously, this chicken is better than any other Nashville hot chicken place around! Also, with your order of chicken you get two sides. I got the baked beans and French fries. The French fries met expectations, but the baked beans were amazing. Like good enough to go back a just get baked beans! Finally, we had 3 different waiters come check on us throughout the meal. Seriously kind and attentive service. And the food was reasonable priced as well. Also they let you take home the drink cups! Who doesn't love that? If you're in the area and want some REAL DEAL southern hospitality. Gus's is the place to go

This fried chicken and chicken sandwich spot was amazing. The staff was very uplifting and welcoming. The place itself had plenty of seating and stuff to watch on the tv. I had the new fried chicken sandwich with fries and Mac and Cheese which I had been waiting to have from there. Thank you to all who helped me have a wonderful time at a very fair price.

Another location of Gus's....and another great meal experience. No matter the location..from Memphis to Dallas to now Nashville...Gus's is always so very consistent. And I'll tell you right now...this place has some...if not the....best fried chicken I've had anywhere in the nation. They other fried chicken right!

We're from California and came twice we loved it very delicious , chicken tenders and pickles and ranch .

We've been to the Austin and Memphis locations so when we saw Gus's came to Nashville we were stoked! Perfectly fried, not greasy and amazing sides. There's plenty of parking too.

Well came at a good time, because it is usually crowded every time we pass it but, it's after lunch time and this is good. Destiny is our server and she's very personable, upbeat, friendly and cute! She gave us the whole history/menu options. They greet each person as they walk in. The restaurant has a Home like filling inside it Pictures on the wall, huge chandelier and just a homey feeling. Fried Chicken came out fresh and hot. It hasn't been sitting under a light. I noticed that they have a lot of orders. Wow, now I see why they stay crowded. This chicken is off the chain.!!!! I think they will be here awhile. Try it out.

Super friendly service. Casual atmosphere. The chicken is excellent but not as spicy as I prefer. The skin is very crispy and the meat was juicy. Perfectly prepared. The baked beans and Cole slaw were also very good. My sons had the chocolate chess pie which was delicious. Prices are reasonable. I would come back when in the area.

I have passed Gus's so many times and keep telling myself I'm going to stop in, well I finally made it! To start I love the free parking (a rarity in Nashville)! They were busy, but not packed. Many seating options, you seat yourself, and menus are on the table. I was quickly greeted and my drink order was taken while I waited for my friend to arrive. The decor is a mix of so many things, but it all works well together - including a jukebox! I went with 2 piece dark plate and upgraded my slaw for Mac and cheese. The chicken was amazing! It's severed hot and fresh! The skin is crispy and well seasoned and meat is juicy! The Mac and cheese was very well done and perfect balance of cheesy and flavorful and the noodles were just right! The baked beans were another hit! Packed with flavor, and the gravy so good you mopped it up with your bread! I also had a sweet tea, which included free refills and it was perfectly sweet and came in a plastic souvenir cup! The staff was kind and prompt. The food was wonderful! I cannot wait to come back!

First thing off, the fried chicken was amazing. Lightly breaded with a little bit of kick. The chicken was super juicy. So much flavor. Collard greens were super fresh and delicious. Mac and Cheese was OK, not spectacular. It seemed kind of plain and not really tasty. It was good, but not super thick and cheesy like good Mac and cheese. Potato salad was missing something. You could taste the potato and eggs, but that was it. It's like it was supposed to have relish mixed in or with some pepper. It was just potato and egg unfortunately. Beans were super plain. Seriously. No bacon bits, no sugar bbq sauce flavor, nothing, just beans. They could have been canned. These were not the hot day BBQ at the park kind of delicious beans. The chicken was amazing and I see why they claim World Famous, but the sides didn't complement the meal like I was hoping. It was a great dinner and finished my trip off for my last meal, but they could easily step up their game. Give them a try and see what you think, but I promise you are going to love the chicken.

The chicken was amazing! I ordered a three piece with coleslaw and beans. The chicken was not spicy but had a kick. The service was great.

If you know Gus's, you know how big of an addition this is to East Nashville. As a Memphis native, we grew up on this southern style spicy chicken & to me, it can compete with the best of Nashville hot chicken anywhere. I got the 3 pc dark with fries and Mac & cheese. Sides are typical southern style "meat & 3" sides. They're decent, but the chicken is insanely good. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, light & crispy batter with the perfect crunch with a hint of spicy. Top it off with a warm chocolate chess pie & vanilla ice cream! Special shoutout to our waitress Nikki! She truly embodies that "southern hospitality" & was so incredible! Parking is easy too, they have their own lot. Also very affordable! Highly recommend for a more budget friendly eating out option in Nashville!

The chicken is very good. Crispy, a little spice and juicy meat. The mac and cheese is also great. I'm particularl about mac and cheese and this one is fantastic. Coleslaw was also good. I also got the greens but in my opinion they needed some hot sauce. They will definitely get my $$$ anytime I am in town.

Gus's Nashville did good! I grew up on the original Gus's in Memphis and this location reminds me so much of home. The food was hot and good! Sweet tea was sweet to perfection. The restaurant also has a lot of Memphis art along the walls, which gave it a great homestyle vibe. The cook came out and checked on us and our food which we were very happy to let them know that it was perfect. The staff is very nice and make you feel like you're eating at your grandma's house, I'm very happy Gus's came to Nashville.

First off, let me tell you how welcomed we felt by Alvin and his team when we walked through the door! Everyone was so kind. My husband and I started with the fried tomatoes that tasted just like my Grandmomma's. You can tell that they were made in house. We each ordered white and dark chicken. Everything was delicious. For us, the star was the baked beans and for me... I REALLY loved the fries and the seasoning. If you're looking for a friendly, neighborhood spot with good food, good service, and just a cool spot, we highly recommend!

Gus's Fried Chicken is a Nashville classic and not to be missed! The fried pickles were a fantastic appetizer, perfectly crisp and delicious. I went with the three-piece dark meat plate, with coleslaw and fried okra. They actually brought me some extra fried okra so I had more than I could eat. My wife went with the 2 piece white meat plate with coleslaw and baked beans. The coleslaw was probably a standard recipe, but I actually love it and found it delicious. She loved the Black Eyed Peas. Chicken was cooked perfect, it definitely was a little on the spicy side, but that is to be expected, it's Nashville fried chicken! Beers were cold and good, service was excellent. Overall, a great experience, I highly recommend you enjoy everything Gus's has to offer. They are world famous for a reason!

I got the three piece dark chicken plate with fried okra and greens with a jalapeño on the side, my wife got the two piece white with slaw and beans my daughter got the same as me but no jalapeño and my son in law got chicken tenders as did both grandsons. All food was cooked perfectly and delicious. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. Was a nice comfortable dinner!

I grew up in Detroit, and once a month, we'd head to Miss Ida's house after church for a potluck meal. Everyone brought sides, but Miss Ida made the chicken. That chicken set the bar for me, and I hadn't found anything that came close--until I visited Gus's in East Nashville. I got the sandwich, and my wife ordered the two-piece. The chicken is on another level--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It instantly brought back memories of those special Sundays. The sides? Just as good. The beans are exactly what I hope for every time I order them elsewhere, but usually end up disappointed. Not at Gus's. The mac and cheese was spot on, too. What really impressed me is that they inspect every plate before it hits the table. You can tell they care about quality and only serve food they're proud of. If you're looking for great chicken and a place where attention to detail matters, Gus's is the spot.

Always a favorite ever since visiting one the Memphis locations. Never disapponts. The baked beans is one of my favorite sides and the potatoe salad is always tasty. Portions are large and filling.

Service was friendly and quick. both my server, Dylan, and the manager checked on me several times during my meal. I love the blues music that was playing. It made me feel like I was at the Gus's in Memphis. The food taste just like the Gus is in Memphis. It was very good. Spicy but not too hot.

My wife and I lived in Memphis for several years and my in-laws have lived there for 10 years at this point. We have had Gus's many times, at multiple locations including out of state. I have eaten here twice since their recent opening and have to say that it does not disappoint. The first time, we ate there, and experienced good service and food quality (only just a few days after opening). Today, I went in and ordered a take out order. There are obviously some things they are still working out (understandable given they literally just opened). I placed my order and worked at the bar for about 15 minutes. The manager soon realized that I had not received my order. They made sure to quickly rectify the lost ticket and offered to comp an appetizer, which I declined as I had ordered plenty for myself. The manager swung back around and hand wrote a business card offering a free item, which was very nice. The food was awesome as expected. I think some people don't realize that opening a restaurant and getting it functioning at 100 percent is so difficult. I'd recommend giving them some grace as they get up to speed and enjoy the delicious chicken that Memphis has shared with East Nashville.

It was so tasty, hot, and not dried out after ordering through Uber eats to the hotel. They included napkins and a plastic fork. Only thing missing was the hot sauce packs I asked for. All good though. Yumms!

Gus hands down is amazing!!! Their fried rice is delicious. Okra is good also and their fried chicken has a good flavor.

We were traveling in Tibet when we ran across a woman who raved about her journey to America and the culinary experience she had at Gus's. After her mouth watering descriptions of the food, we came back and specifically went here. It's truly world famous. Great portions, flavor and ambience made this a Six star experience. I have been to Gus's several times in Mississippi and Memphis however this was my first time at the Nashville location. The food was good and fresh. There needs to be a more organized process when entering about seating yourself. You literally walk in and there is no direction on what to do.

A friend brought it over, everything was amazing. Of course the chicken was great but so were the greens and everything else. The greens were so nicely cut. Enjoyed everything. Will definitely be back.

Ms.Nikki, the Karamel Latte Queen brought the energy, 10 out of 10 service and delicious food!! We live out of town but when we're back in Nashville, we will be back to Gus's and hope to have the pleasure of dining with Nikki again!

I've never been to Gus's before, but I'm really glad I did now. My server was quick to take my order, patient with me when I asked her a few questions, and gave some really great recommendations. I ended up ordering the chicken tender special. 5 chicken tenders, 2 sides, for $12.99. I got the fried okra and Mac and cheese for my sides. The chicken tenders were crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and flavorful. There was ranch and honey mustard on the side, as well as some hot sauce, but they really didn't need it. The Mac and cheese was delightfully cheesy and the pasta was the right texture. The okra was crispy on the outside, and seasoned nicely. And then my server convinced me to get a chocolate chess pie to go, and that was also amazing. I'd definitely recommend this place.

We ordered for delivery and the food arrived fast and HOT. The chicken strips my wife ordered and the 3-piece white were cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely with a gentle amount of heat. It's not Nashville Hot and it's not supposed to be. The baked beans were surprisingly tasty and the fries were excellent, though I would have liked a bit more of them. Unlike some of the chains, there was no shrinkflation with the size of the chicken pieces -they were quite generous in size. We will be ordering again in the future!

I went when it first opened but when I got the food it was very bland, you could put it in comparison to gas station chicken. for the price the food it should have been better for a place that claims world famous chicken it tastes like nothing

The server was so kind, made excellent suggestions, and never left my cup empty. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and let me say it might genuinely be the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Best thing even. Their chocolate chess pie was to die for. The music and scenery are straight out of the 70s, down to the working jukebox. Literally everything about this place is perfect, if you don't stop here you're missing out on the Nashville Experience.

Absolutely great food and great service from Ms. Nikki. The ambiance was amazing and calm. 1000% recommend after a good or bad day of work. Just AMAZING!!!
