Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"This new Mexican spot sure smells a lot like a clubstaurant. But you can also come here to eat toasted grasshoppers, shrimp aguachile, and beef short rib while Selena blasts in the background." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

The ambiance of this place is undeniably cool, trendy decor, great Hispanic music, and a vibe that makes you want to stay a while. Unfortunately, the customer service really soured the experience for me. I ordered an espresso martini, expecting a well-balanced cocktail. What I got instead was a clear looking drink that tasted like vodka mixed with syrup, nothing remotely close to what it should’ve been. When I politely asked for a replacement, I was told I’d have to pay for horrible drink, even though I had only had a sip and explained to the serve that the drink wasn’t what I ordered. I understand places have policies, but good customer service means being flexible, especially when the issue is about quality. It was disappointing, and left me feeling like they cared more about the bill than the customer experience. Great spot to look at , but don’t expect the same level of care in your glass.

Hacienda Ramirez Cruz was an awesome experience!!! From the service and the server and his recommendations (thank you Daniel!) to the food, it was fresh and flavorful. The drinks were fantastic! The vibe is fun! Everyone is so friendly.

Best place to celebrate your birthday! The atmosphere and the service was amazing! Our server Eugenia is the best! She was very attentive and offer great suggestions for the menu. I’ll definitely come back for more Karaoke night.

Star – Not Worth the Hype We were really looking forward to trying this place, but it ended up being a big disappointment. The food was cold, the drinks were warm, and even the water had no option—just handed to us as-is. Service was unpleasant. The waitress acted like she didn’t want to be there, and we felt pushed into spending over $100. Then came the surprise—a 28% service fee automatically added without any explanation. Completely unreasonable. The atmosphere was just as bad. We asked the bartender twice to play a song, and he ignored us both times. The music that was playing didn’t match the vibe at all. We won’t be returning. Definitely not the experience we expected for the price.

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience at this nightclub/bar restaurant! The atmosphere was vibrant, the live music was spot-on, and the food and drinks were exceptional. What truly made our night unforgettable was Eugenia—she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Her attention to detail, warm personality, and outstanding service really stood out. From personalized recommendations to ensuring everything was perfect, she made us feel like VIPs. Highly recommend this place, and if you’re lucky enough to have Eugenia take care of you, you’re in for a treat!

Google
Extremely Disappointed This place was a complete letdown. The food came out cold and bland, and the drinks were warm—including the water. Nothing was served the way it should be. The waitress was rude and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we sat down. We felt pressured to spend over $100, and they still had the nerve to charge a 28% service fee without even telling us upfront. The music? Horrible. We asked the bartender twice to play a song, and he completely ignored us. It’s like they didn’t care about the customer experience at all. Overall, bad food, rude staff, overpriced, and zero hospitality. I wouldn’t go back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointing Experience – Needs Better Service and Accountability We reserved a table for 10 with a $100 minimum per person, expecting it to be applied toward our bill. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. I found a hair in my food—when we brought it up, the excuse was that the kitchen staff were all men. However, we clearly saw a female chef with long hair walking around, which made the explanation feel dismissive. Drinks took over 20 minutes, and we had to remind the server. Several of my friends tried to order, asked for menus, and never received them. To make matters worse, we were charged over $150 for items we didn’t even consume. Instead of acknowledging the service issues and working with us, we were met with a rigid policy. This was really disappointing. A better solution would’ve been to show understanding and adjust the bill accordingly. Sadly, we left feeling taken advantage of. I’m sharing this so others know to be cautious.

Yelp
LOVED the vibes. Everyone had fun energy and made me dance as I was eating! The service was really on top. Especially from Beli who kept checking in on our table and making sure we were 1. Enjoying the food and drinks and 2. Make sure we had a microphone The microphone is personal and you can only hear it with your table but it's more comfortable for people like me who wouldn't dare sing I front of people I don't know but enjoy singing! The service was very attentive, from the host to server, to bussers. When I started to look for a server at one point the security l saw me looking around and came to ask if he could help. The live band was so great, such a performance!

Yelp
The group and the music are really good! My rating is because I think is place is abusive towards customers. Drinks and food are very expensive and either prices are not consistent or waiters are charging whatever they want. I came one day for a birthday where the host paid for food and first round of drinks and everyone in the party still had to pay $120 which ended up being $151 with tip and taxes. I only had 3 drinks which were about ~$80 and I still had to pay the amount I didn't consume. I gave it another chance with a girlfriend, they didn't let a couple in because they didn't have a reservation but the place had empty tables all night and there was space in the bar. I got 2 drinks and got charged $60. I also got a taco order of 3, which are the most expensive tacos I have eaten in my life for $32! People started to leave around 1am, Only one table left around 2am.

Yelp
This happened Thursday September 19, 2024 ENGLISH: TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT: This happened Thursday September 19 I'm outside the door, it's my birthday and I wasn't informed that it had to be a $100 per person consumption. We are 9 girls, and they told us that if we didn't spend $100 each we couldn't enter. Previously last Thursday night I came in person to make the reservation and they told me that it was $35 per person for consumables, which I accepted and proceeded to make the reservation. I would like to add that one of your front desk workers was extremely rude to several of us. This was a message that I sent them directly on Instagram to inform them of the matter and the bad time. They only asked me to tell them what happened and they didn't even contact me again without apologizing for the bad time they had with a large group looking to celebrate and have a good time at 11 pm on a Thursday. Thus they have lost what a place cannot lose, which is having good service and here they are terrible in administration and treatment. That's called consumer abuse.

Yelp
We initially stopped by Hacienda Ramirez just for a quick drink and appetizer before heading to La Tropical, but the experience quickly changed our plans. The ambiance at Hacienda Ramirez strikes a perfect balance between chic and cozy, with a delightful mix of old and modern furniture that gives the place a unique and inviting vibe. Our server, Mary, greeted us warmly and mentioned that they had only been open for a month. Despite being new, the service was seamless, and Mary crafted a Don Rafael cocktail for us, featuring chile de árbol-infused tequila, tamarind, orgeat, and fresh lime juice. The drink was nothing short of fantastic--perfectly balanced with a bit of a kick. We decided to try the Caldo de Camarón and the Queso Fundido, both of which were excellent. The Caldo de Camarón was rich and flavorful, and the Queso Fundido was gooey, cheesy perfection. I would definitely recommend both dishes. After closing our tab and heading to La Tropical as planned, I couldn't stop thinking about Hacienda Ramirez. I showed my friends the videos and pictures I'd taken, and we unanimously decided to move the party back there. It turned out to be a great decision. The night continued with more delicious food, creative drinks, and impeccable service, this time by Francisco. The highlight of the evening was a live band that truly brought the place to life with amazing music. If you haven't visited Hacienda Ramirez yet, do yourself a favor and give it a try. Whether you're in the mood for a casual drink or a full night of fun, this place is sure to deliver a great experience. Note: bill does include tip of 18%

Yelp
New restaurant alert!! We were strolling in Wynwood when the DJ's music called to us and we walked right in to what just so happened to be the "soft opening" of a new authentic Mexican Cuisine restaurant. The place was entirely empty however, the staff greeted us and allowed us to explore the entire restaurant as they requested any feedback that we might have about the food, drinks etc. to support refining their establishment for the Grand Opening (August 2024!). There is a full service outside and a full service inside seating area. The outside has a kitchen (shipping container/food truck) for fast and quick bar eats and also a full service bar. There is also DJ set and a separate stage for live music. The inside also has a bar and of course a full service kitchen. Upon entering from the front door or the "back yard" you will be immediately drawn to the carefully curated furniture and finishings throughout that are reminiscent of an old Mexican Estate (i.e., a hacienda) of past times. While the main bar could use a bit more "sprucing" (its a little uneventful compared to the rest of the space), there are couches and large family style dining tables, picnic areas, and lounge seating, buffets, an ornate faux fire place, and plenty of sexy lighting to create great ambience for eating, imbibing, and just vibing! We ordered a couple of the specialty cocktails (the NOCHE DE DIA and the Don Rafael) and a Mezcal Margarita. All were well crafted, premium liquors and we would order them again for sure. We also ordered tacos (fish and shrimp). It was late and were keeping it simple. The fish was good but the shrimp was the winner of the night. Note that their menu has a mix for everyone from classic "American" popular Mexican dishes to more "exotic" dishes known to a variety of parts of Mexico such as grasshopper, worms, larvae and cactus. We hope this restaurant has a successful opening. We are already planning our next visit where we plan to try the ENVUELTO DE MAHI-MAHI and perhaps one of the exotic dishes (freaking out already!).

Yelp
La comida es sencillamente espectacular, la variedad y el sabor auténtico de la comida mexicana es algo que se expresa en cada uno de los platos.

Yelp
I visited Hacienda Ramírez Cruz last month for a night with the girls. One of my best friends made the reservation on a Thursday at 8 pm. We were so excited because their IG looked amazing and the fact that you could sing your heart aloud who wouldn't love that? We arrived at 8 pm sharp and to our surprise there was a line outside. My friend asked the hostess if we had to make the lane even though we had a reservation and she said yes, so we waited for 30 min in line, outside. When we finally reached the entrance, the hostess assigned us a person who walked us through the nice restaurant, she showed us the outdoor area and took us in. She mentioned we should see the outdoor and indoor areas to then decide where would prefer to sit. We realized the indoor sitting was a little bit more quiet so we asked to sit outside. To our surprise she told us we couldn't sit outside because it was all reserved, that should have been our red flag of a night of miscommunication. She wanted us to sit on a sofa with a little center table which we rejected because we were planning to have a proper dinner and eating from a sofa to a little center table is not good. So there was an empty regular-size table across from the space she was offering and we sat there. Our server came right away and offered us the drinks and food menu. I had already seen the menu online so I was looking forward to it! While looking at the drinks menu, I noticed there was no wine, little sad but ended up going for a cocktail. I ordered the Noche de Dia, which had mezcal, pineapple juice, and some cenizas from a volcán which was silly to read but I like the whole cocktail idea. The drink was ok, very sweet and you could barely taste the alcohol in it. Since they didn't have wine, I just wanted one drink. We were checking the food menu when we spotted a server passing by with a glass one wine to a table, we were confused because that was not on the menu so we asked the server just in case there was a wine menu and we just didn't request it. The server confirmed there was not a wine menu yet but there was some wine to taste and try upon request. So we asked her for the price of each glass which she said was around $16, and also asked her what type of wine it was and if we could try some before ordering the glasses. She went to the bar and brought us a glass, she didn't know what type of wine it was but it tasted like Chardonnay so we asked her for 2 glasses. She went back to the bar and then mentioned they weren't selling the wine by the glass but by the bottle, so we were like Ok... what's the price per bottle? And she said $80 so we were already confused with the no wine but you saw the wine around, by glass price, by bottle price. We asked to see the manager to please clarify this confusion. After 20 min of waiting on the manager, she finally showed up with a really bad attitude. Now, the whole service system in Miami has changed over the years, but we all know customer service is key in any restaurant, especially a new restaurant. So the manager showed up and we explained to her the confusion and she told us with a really bad attitude that there was no wine because there was not a wine list and that the wine we saw going around was from the owner's private reserve to be shared only with his/her VIP guests. Now you could explain to me that with an "I apologize for any confusion created... " and then go ahead and give your explanation and that's ok but the manager didn't apologize for the confusion, she just kept going with the fact that the owner could do anything he/she wants with the liquor he/she wants to sell at his/she restaurant and it was really rude on the manager side. We were so shocked by the rudeness in her voice and body language that we ended up ordering some appetizers and calling the night. We had the guacamole and chips, Queso Fundido, Esquites, and the Chicken Tostadas which should be without an "S" since it's only one tostada. All the food was ok; nothing from another world, you can find better Mexican somewhere else and sing your heart aloud too. By the time they already placed the microphones on our tables; and we were ready to at least start singing we realized it wasn't like real karaoke, it was a play pretend karaoke and the mic was off. It's just for you to pretend you are singing and put up your stories. Definitely shouldn't giving another vibe in the IG. I would not recommend this place, there is a miscommunication among the whole staff and the manager was so rude! Never in my life have experienced such an attitude from a manager in any restaurant.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday there, and it was an absolute blast! We knew all the songs, and the band was phenomenal. What a fantastic experience! Thank u

Yelp
This place is very similar to a club getting in is at the discretion of the hostess in the front. My wife went to celebrate her friends birthday party and they were not allowed in because the hostess in the front was in a horrible mood and decided to say they werent dressed formal enough. The site states casual people in sweats and sneakers were being let in. Not interested in going to a place that discriminates against guests solely based on whether the hostess in the front likes you or not.

Yelp
DISCRIMINATION!!!!! As soon as we arrived a party of 6, the hostess gave attitude asking basically why we are there. I stated we have reservation. She took 10 minutes to look for my reservation. Unfortunately we were running late so we contacted them to let them know we are a bit late and that we would be arriving at 8pm. They never answered the phone so we sent them a text as instructed on their page. They answered and said it was ok. We arrive 8:05 to the place and the host said we are too late. She stated we arrived 15 minutes late and I told her we are only 5 minutes late. I asked who is the person that answered the text saying it was ok we are late and they said they don't know. She then stated that we are not dressed formal! I asked her what formal is and she couldn't say. She stated it's in their website. I went on the website and it's clear the dress code is casual. We are all wearing heals, and dressed nice. We asked for a manager and they never came out saying they are in a meeting at 9pm on a Saturday. Another employee came out and said it's up to the hostess if she thinks we are dressed properly or not. We stated that they are discriminating and the entry is based on if the girls at the front like you or not. Meanwhile people wearing sneakers and sweats were let in with no problem. The manager never had the decency to come out and explain to us why they didn't want to let us in. A nice lady that was behind us that was giving us the reason because she was dressed like us was also denied entry just because she didn't like the way they treated us. I would never recommend this place! The people are rude and can't give you an explanation for anything, they give you the runaround. They basically let people in they like. Doesn't matter.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday night at 8:30pm as we walked by and wanted to check the place out. The place was EMPTY and still they have 4 people on the door with a velvet rope trying to seem all fancy and exclusive. When it was our turn we asked to go the bar and they had the audacity to ask for a minimum consumption of $100 EACH. It was just me and my wife. SIMPLY RIDICULOUS. Never again.

Leticia A.

Yelp
This place was okay, but I would never return to spend my money here. I arrive with a gentleman to celebrate a birthday with several friends who were already inside at a table we reserved, and immediately I was told I could not come in despite the reservation. (We were both well dressed, etc. so that wasn't a reason for the denial of service) Then the hostess proceeded to allow my male companion in, but not me! The birthday girl had to leave her own party to beg for my entry, which was just unfortunate. Eventually I entered but it left a bad impression. Unlike others who have commented here I have no problem spending $100 or more on a night out, but I will never spend my money somewhere that doesn't respect me or a table reservation.

Yelp
We had a FANTASTIC time, service was amazing and the food was authentic Mexican, the mole and the tacos we had were delicious. But the best part of it all was the live band and the whole experience with the microphones. We sang all our favorite oldies songs and had a great time with friends. I'm coming back for sure and recommending this place to everyone I know! 10/10

Yelp
the worst staff ever ever!! they don't know what they do! they booked the same table for several people. we were just seated and they made us stand to change table because someone gave them tip so I recommend tonchoose better spots.

Vanessa R.

Yelp
I reserved for a party of 15 on 09/28 at 7:30 PM. I was well informed of the consumption required to keep the table for more than 2 hours, $100 pp. I acknowledged & agreed days before my reservation. Never was that an issue! Walked up to the retaurant & being told I had a 2-hour limit was my 1st problem. Plans were to stay the entire night & spend well over $1500. The nasty demeanor of the employees towards customers changed that intention for me & my guests. Visiting an establishment that is trying to have an "upscale" reputation, should not train staff to recite this consumption min 3-4 times. The waitress at our table also had the audacity to walk over to me with the tablet every time one of my guests would close their tab to show me the balance that remained. She did this about 3 times. Very distasteful & not classy at all. Very TACKY! A few friends arrived later in the evening & one of my friends dressed well wearing jeans, a shimmery shirt & solid black sneakers was denied entry. The hostess told my sister-in-law in a very derogatory manner, "Those shoes are unacceptable, & she cannot come in." Interesting because our cousin & her guests walked in minutes prior & half of them were wearing sneakers. Many people were wearing sneakers. Very calm my husband tried to reason with the employees and explain that we have guests inside wearing sneakers, but the staff in this establishment is unbearable. He asked for the manager, & when she arrived, she stated that it was not the shoes. It was her outfit. Quite convenient considering additional customers were being allowed to walk in with sneakers right at that moment. I walked over to find my friend crying! Crying because it wasn't her shoes. It wasn't even her clothes, she was very well put together. They judged her & made her feel very uncomfortable & out of place because of the way she looked, not what she wore. That's disgusting & unacceptable! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE OF BUSINESS!

Sergio U.

Yelp
The food was very good, but the highlight is the music and the general ambiance. The band is fantastic. We wished they played a more up-to-date set list, but they are talented and entertaining. Our waitress was amazing. She was efficient and charismatic.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
The worst customer service ever !! Only 1 star for the atmosphere that's all. We had 2 tables celebrating 2 birthdays and they still didn't want to let our friend in because she's over weight having excuses after excuses they made her cry and wait for over 1 hour. After finally the birthday girl saying we aren't paying the bill if she can't go in they let her in without saying sorry to her or offering her anything. Honestly none of us party of 25 will ever be attending back to a shitty place where they are very judgmental.

Liz B.

Yelp
I will be writing in not english and spanish so you are aware. I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience at Hacienda Ramirez Cruz. I arrived at the restaurant with a group, excited to enjoy a meal, but was shocked and hurt when we were turned away without any valid reason. It became clear that we were being treated unfairly based on "dress code". At first we were told we wouldn't be able to dine due to being 5 MINUTES LATE. And then they followed to talk about dress code. The staff was unwelcoming and didn't provide any explanation for why we were denied entry, while other customers who arrived after us were let in without hesitation. This kind of discrimination has no place in any establishment, and it left a bad taste, not just in our mouths, but in our hearts. I would expect better from a restaurant that claims to value "hospitality and inclusivity". I won't be returning, and I strongly urge others to consider whether they want to support a business that treats people this way.

Yelp
Service horrible. Mean and people. Hostess rude as hell food mediocre drinks and parking expensive. Don't waste your time or money.

Jess M.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this location. Checked before coming all the way here and was told walk ins were welcome! BS!! Was informed at the door that it was only reservations and if we wanted to do a walk in we had to call ahead (ahh walk in) and it was a minimum of 100 dollars a person. Like WTF!!!

Ciro S.

Yelp
Excellent food and ambiance! Great live band, and the service was the best!! Recommend: Tacos Petroleros and Ceviche de Atun.

Yelp
Just to preface this I am 5'10 , 350 lbs (i have extra swelling from a medical condition) and a size 13 shoe in womens. I went here this past Saturday to meet up 2 parties with more than 10 people in each party as we were walking in the front the hostess told my friend I couldn't go in because of my sneakers which didn't make sense at all as all of us had sneakers on all the men did also the girl behind me had house flip flops I had attempted to reason with the hostess that womens shoes don't come in my size easily and I suffer from chronic fatigue from My long haulers covid. It was evident from her face that she didn't evenwant to speak to me and my friends had to speak to her the birthday girl ended up coming to the front to also argue as to why I couldn't go in at this point I was sitting close to the entrance and observed who they were letting in and not letting in if you were a skinny mini you were good you can come in with shorts flip-flops and a tank top and be let in and men just couldn't come in with shorts or hats I waited forever at the front and little by little it dawned on me they didn't let me in because I didn't look like everyone else I'm a big girl, that's when I started crying I barely go out as it is and self conscious of how I look already especially since I was recently very sick and extra swollen and had attempted to look dressier for the occasion when the manager finally came to see me she attempted to be nice about it that she didn't want me to cry but I wasn't dressed upscale enough that it wasn't the shoes it was at this point my suspicions were confirmed I looked at her and told her all the skinny girls in Jean ripped up shorts and tank tops with flips flops is also not up scale and were let in. She quickly attempted to say no it's not that and I stood up to show her my outfit I had a fancy blue top with rhinestones on the sides long dark boot cut jeans and my sneakers where completely black air force ones nothing waswrong with what I was wearing everyone had complimented my shirt earlier when we meet up I told her it has to be because I don't look like everyone else what else could it be especially when I noticed no one else in there was overweight as I was, at this point my husband was already pissed and didn't want to come inside the venue anymore and after 30 more minutes of me just silently crying on the side lines they finally let me in no apologies just have fun and walked away as I finally sat down with the rest of my party we were never offered drinks or food we just sat there the music was blah the microphone was a toy mic you can get on Amazon for 5 dollars and I had to get someone's attention just to get water it was hot and super packed we left after 45 mins and went across the street to another bar and that placed saved the night good music good food and drinks and we had so much fun there as opposed to this place where I just sat crying for most of the time there I also heard from the others at our party how dissatisfied they were with everything. Unfortunately I wouldn't know how the foodtaste or drinks because again I was never offered any. If you want to make your self depressed come to this place if I could give 0 stars I would they just opened and they clearly need to fix alot before they alienate all the locals from coming again

Barbara C.

Yelp
The idea of the place is really good, to enjoy time with a group of friends, but the services is TERRIBLE! We asked to the waitress if they had wine, since it was not in the menu. She was kind of confuse with the answer and we saw some people drinking wine so we asked for the manager, just to understand better the situation. The manager came clearly upset to us, and before we were able to said anything, told us that the wine was EXCLUSIVE for the OWNER'S FRIENDS and THEY HAD THE RIGHT TO DRINK WINE. For a place that charge 25 dollars a taco and 20 dollars drinks (with very little alcohol), you would think that the manager at least would be nice and try to manage well the misunderstanding. So this place is just another poorly

This is such a garbage place starting from the hostess to the manger., I did a reservation a week in advance because it was my friend birthday and I wanted to celebrate her birthday there because of the ambience but what a rude host when the restaurant was practically empty by the time we got there! we requested to seat outside when we did our reservation on line and they tried to seat us inside when we ask to be outside they dined completely, so I requested a manager which it was worst then the hostess very rude and disrespectful to my guests telling them they didn't look good to be there when other people was dressed even worst, and on top of that we were five people she wanted us to spend 500$ minimum to seat where she wanted to. I wish I knew both of there names and get them to their GM so they can be trained better, in a Saturday night in high season when we couldn't get in anywhere else's without a reservation she simply ruin my friends birthday celebration, as a server and knowledge in the industry never been in a worst place in my entire life.
