If you’re looking for somewhere remote to work for the afternoon, the tables on the sidewalk are ideal—grab some lunch from the full food menu while you’re there. Google
this location is really nice! right next to the park, lots of huge windows and natural lighting. i love going during the day cause the whole place is so bright and not that noisy; it might be really hot outside but its really cool and chill inside. baristas were also really nice and friendly. coffee was okay but a little overpriced in my opinion. they got outlets almost on all the tables though, making it very convenient for people to sit there and work on their stuff. if you get tired, you can also go to the park right across the street and chill/ take a walk. love it!

Google
Really great space! The coffee is great, and they sell a great variety of cocktails as well. My favorite detail about this place is that on every Wednesday and Sunday night they have salsa and Bachata dancing going on. They have a complementary dance class starting at 7 PM going on until 8 PM, and then after that there is a social dance for anyone who wants to have fun. It’s a great way to meet people, exercise, and learn an amazing new skill. Definitely recommend this activity for a fun date night in the Mueller area.

Google
Pleasant experience at Halcyon when we were in town and made last minute decisions for brunch! Everything was booked out, and we were able to walk in here and get seated within 10 minutes. I had a breakfast biscuit sandwich, which was fine, but the winner was the dish my husband got, I think it was Eggs Benedict. He was FLOORED by how good it was, and he didn't stop talking about it for the rest of the weekend. Definitely order that if you want a good meal 👍 my breakfast biscuit was different in that it felt like the biscuit wasn't buttermilk, or maybe was but tasted more on the wheat bread side, as opposed to white bread, which I really really liked! That could be just me, though.

Google
We went here again recently and it wasn't that great. The spicy chicken sandwich and turkey brie are just okay, but we expected so much more. The kids meals are decent. But the coffee was the biggest disappointment. The pros for this place is location and they have a good steady crowd. Unfortunately we wish the coffee and food tasted better. - Original post: I'd give this place a three star and my wife gives it a four star. She wins. I thought the coffee and chai tea latte were both ok, but not amazing. My wife really liked them and said they have smore's stations at the tables. The place isn't spectacular, but the service is nice. Bonus points for Spurs Jesus gear.

Google
The coffee here is delicious, and the atmosphere is tranquil. I ordered a black cold brew drink, and it was the best. I've also attended Latin dance classes here on Wednesdays and I had the best time. I learned some salsa and bachata for only a $5 fee. Highly recommend this place.

Google
Great spot for hanging out with friends, or taking your loved ones on a date. Definitely one of the best cafes in the Muller area; great vibes, beautiful interior, and lots of indoor & outdoor seating. Staff is kind, but frankly, baristas are not really experienced, hence 4 stars.

Google
This coffee shop offers a satisfying Americano for $3.5, served in a spacious environment opposite the park. The ample indoor seating and excellent customer service make it a great spot for a relaxing coffee break.

Google
Cashier is slow and machines for certain drinks were broken. Service was fair and the drinks were fantastic! Love the atmosphere as well so definitely a solid place if you want coffee near Meuller. There’s also a few games for the kiddos.

Yelp
My daughter enjoys the coffee, and we are both hooked on the freshly made breakfast tacos! You can ask for them to take out the onions etc, which I did not expect. We have tried most of them, and they are all so good. You can get them with corn or flower tortillas, which is awesome. The staff is super friendly and the service is great. There are some comfy chairs inside and some more working type seating options. It's not too loud, which is nice for working or socializing. We really enjoy this spot!

Yelp
First off, SO happy to see they've welcomed another mama duck a safe place to lay her eggs! The service was good- a new person working the register but he was kind and got the job done. The little card place holders they have are very cute but also very annoying outside lol they constantly knock over in the wind. Our food was delicious- kids jr. Platter with a pancake and an egg sandwich. It tasted fresh, looked beautiful, and tasted great. The biggest bummer was my iced vietnamese coffee. It was not good. At all. I asked for extra sweetened condensed milk after trying it hoping that would help but it didn't. The coffee tasted stale and it was not good at all.

Bhagyashree B.

Yelp
Coffee or cocktails, anyone? Why not both? :) This coffee shop is central to Mueller area, very close to the park and very spacious seating. They had a great assortment of holiday drinks on the menu and traditional ones too. Also, really liked that they have games for both adults and kids to play.

Casey T.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this spot but it just fell short for me. First off, I love the interior space that feels welcoming with mixed seating and thoughtful design touches. I love how they host a lot of community events and are in a walkable part of Austin! This is a nice place to WFH as they have both food and drinks, and some tables with outlets and ample space. The drinks however leave a lot to be desired. The lattes are always either too sweet or too watered down, and for the cost of some of their specialty drinks it is not worth the price. I've also had my order forgotten before here, and had to wait over 10-15 min for a drink when there were no other customers at the bar. Service can be super variable depending on the day, sometimes I get my drink immediately and sometimes there's a long wait despite the place not being super busy during the day.

Yelp
I just started hanging out in this neighborhood now that I work down the street and I absolutely love it. I don't understand the bad reviews?! I'm guessing people don't understand that this is a casual coffee shop and cafe not a sit down restaurant. The coffee is great and the espresso martinis are great every time. Everyone I've interacted with is nice in terms of staff but I've definitely noticed lots of "Karen's" with kids running rampant that they don't discipline or watch. I'm guessing those are the complainers here. I love sitting outside on the patio with a view of the lake and the sandwiches are great, the s'mores are fun to do with friends but nothing fancy. Staff is always helpful and kind, coming from someone who works in the industry. Love this spot!

Allison S.

Yelp
It was just ok. Walk-up bar service was neutral, espresso martinis were ok. Ambiance was the nicest thing about the spot, and that's just because they had some loungey couches. There are several spaces to sit, we didn't have any foods, and It was pretty loud. It was hard to hear the person across from me. I'd go back for another try.

Alicia C.

Yelp
This is a good location, and I love Mueller. The music is pumping! It's usually somewhere between dance beats and work music, which totally hits the vibe spot. I could do either to it. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and prompt. Their food is also good. My one issue is that I don't feel like the drinks make the cut. The flavors are take it or leave it, no matter what I've tried, and unfortunately I usually come here because I need a drink.

Annette N.

Yelp
Was quite impressed with their food! Good space to be in, very spacious and welcoming. For a quick stop, I enjoyed it. Had to street park with minimum walking distance but nothing to complain about.

Melynda S.

Yelp
Super cute spot with yummy drinks! What we ordered: Hot matcha latte with almond milk ($6.50) Hot honey vanilla latte with soy milk ($6.50) - foam stayed in the drink the entire time, and the latte was creamy with just the right level of sweetness. Things I loved: 1. That the drinks came in dishes - always trying to cut down on single use waste. 2. This would be a great place to get work done - lots of table space! Things I didn't love: 1. Street parking only so you will have to pay for the meter.

Haley S.

Yelp
I got the Southwest Skillet & an iced latte, totaling about $20 all together. The latte was good & worth the $4/5, but the skillet was terrible. The eggs were overcooked, there was hardly any seasoning, & it was all around bone dry. It was in some serious need of salsa or just SOMETHING. I give this place 2 stars rather than 1 because the latte was admittedly good & the barista was really kind. Aside from that though, Halcyon gave me the abysmal impression of just another overpriced wannabe hipster spot littering Austin.

Davidm A.

Yelp
Well we didn't go here for the food... we came here to dance. It was fun. The have an espresso bar where you can get some caffeine if you feel tired. They also have free dance lessons on some days. Which is so much fun. They take care of you get the drinks out fast and make sure you are having a great time here. Definetly would go and check this place out.... SUPER FUN! HAVE A GREAT TIME.

Diana R.

Yelp
Pros: -deli pics cocktails. Affordable. Strong. Beautiful -staff were accommodating and flexible with change requests -cool vibe. Warehouse style but modern cafe feel -leather mixed with steel and pops of color -didn't order food. Just cocktails. Espresso martini was perfect. Foamy. Beans. Clean and not too sweet. -Long Island iced coffee was good. Old fashioned perfect -friendly welcoming staff both days I went - spacious. Comfy. Seating options. Tables. Chairs. Couches. Light or lamps. Great ! - Cons: - inconsistent staff knowledge. First day they were happy to mix up some fun cocktails. Second day I asked for similar drinks and both people were clueless and unsure of ingredients on menu. One said she was new. The other want sure if dark roar old fashioned had coffee or not. - loud profane music. Second day sat in the back. It was better and quieter. -AC broken so very hot. But not their fault. They apologized. - Would I return? YES. For drinks.

Yelp
The girl taking my order was super friendly and professional and tried her best to help me out. She's def not the problem. My experience with her was a 5 out of 5. However I do have a problem with the owner and management- how can you claim to have gluten free food when your kitchen person doesn't speak English? I don't think she even knows what gluten is or that it has to be cooked separately. The girl that took my order tried her hardest to get the point across to her multiple times, but the lady cooking didn't speak a word of English. She couldn't even understand "olive oil" even when she said "aceite olive". Seemed like a nice lady, but I don't want to pay to get sick- business is business. If you have celiacs like I do, avoid this place because I'm def feeling glutened today. I was really craving a gf sandwich so took my chances that's she made it "gluten free" and now regret it. Not very great to have a restaurant and not be able to communicate at all with your cook/chef. Please find someone that speaks English as the chef or get yourself a translator that can explain orders to her and explain how to take food allergies seriously. Also, food took forever to come out despite being just two sandwiches to-go and it being empty. Took about 30 mins for two sandwiches. Didn't see anyone order food during the time we waited. But again- the girl that took our order was pleasant, happy, and tried her best. Def was not her fault.

Yelp
Best kept secret are they Wednesday and Sunday night Latin dancing! (Free intro class to salsa dancing Wednesday and Bachata Sunday at 7pm!) The music is always fire, it's always poppin, and early enough for a grandma like me. Drinks are affordable and parking is also a plenty. Just make sure you go when it's not over 80f out or you will be swimming in sweat (though nobody cares because it'll be that fun)!

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Super nice coffee shop! There's SO much seating which is really nice - unexpected in Austin. But from couches to bar top to booths, you really have tons of options. For studying though, outlets are limited. The vibe is really bright because tons of windows and the music they play really gets you in the zone to study, or at least it did for me. My friend and I got the Smores plate - which I have never seen at a coffee shop before. It was so nostalgic roasting the marshmallows on this little fire pit. I loved how it brought me back to my childhood! Coffee is kind of pricey, but where in Austin isn't.

B C.

Yelp
They close at 10pm. Showed up at 7:45pm and they said they were closed (for no reason at all). Drove 25 minutes for them to close over 2 hours early. No reason given, no sorry. We knocked on the door and we're ignored. No explanation for why they closed early. Took 20 minutes for someone to come out and say they were slow for the past hour and a half so they closed early.

Rick Z.

Yelp
I don't totally understand why anyone would specifically come here? My husband and I have a social group that has a monthly event that often meets here to hang out, chat, and sometimes play tabletop games, because after that we take a walk in the park across the street. Parking is a pain cuz it's all street parking you have to feed the meter to use. The venue is an okay space. Clean enough, decent room to sit. Weird modern chairs though, not good back support. Temperature is kept cool but reasonable in the summer heat. There is outdoor seating too. Nowhere I'd ever intentionally go if it weren't for the event we're attending with friends. They serve things like coffee, alcohol, and a small selection of baked goods, all of which are at sorta high-end prices for what you get; I really haven't partaken but my husband often grabs a beverage just as a "thank you" for allowing us to occupy their space for 1-2 hours. There's a water dispenser I use to refill my water bottle, and it is a very slow trickle but I just patiently wait for it to fill my 40oz Hydro... hopefully they get around to fixing it, but I haven't complained at all because I'm just glad for freely available liquid. The bathrooms are in okay repair and clean enough. Staff is neither friendly or unfriendly, just kind of there, y'know? Like they're just getting their shift over with. So yeah.

Scott M.

Yelp
Cool little coffee place right near the children's museum. They have small bite meals to go with a wide variety of coffee choices. Missed the sign for their signature house during which sounds delicious so gotta try that next time.

Niharika G.

Yelp
I work near this coffee shop and stopped by to meet a friend. I love the aesthetic inside and it is very colorful and artsy. Has a lot of light, and good seating indoors and outdoors. Great place for quick catchup or to do some light work. Gave it three stars as I got a latte to test the coffee, and it was alright. Same with the chorizo taco, nothing that is bursting with flavor or goodness.

Ryan P.

Yelp
Ambiance was up to par with a typical lo-fi vibe. Service, was limited to the girl behind the counter being asked to address us by their boss and take our order, followed by someone asking us how everything was and when I told them my coffee was given to me without sweetener or plant based milk I asked for, he walked behind the counter and then ignored us the rest of the time. Never brought me what he said he was going to. The cold brew I ordered was really bitter, ended up just throwing it away, should have asked for our money back. Rather disappointed in this place but honestly I see that it is starting to show with their reviews. We'll plan our coffee date for somewhere else in the future. Good luck to the staff when the place goes out of business. Maybe take more care with your customers?

Yousef A.

Yelp
Slow service, and not even that busy. Probably the longest I have waited for a cup of coffee and there was barely anyone there.

Blake M.

Yelp
churro lattes made by ross best coffee ive had brilliant barista over here!! seed was super sweet!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Strolling through the park and want a snack or cocktail? Then maybe a fabulous coffee to caffeinate afterwards? This is the place! Bring your pup and plop down in one of the comfy outdoor couches or grab a tables and refresh yourself! Hope we see you there sometime!

Sonal G.

Yelp
Talk about the most disappointing coffee shop I've ever been to. This halcyon may look hip and fun from the outside but I was served the worst tea latte I've ever had in my life. I was craving a smooth, silky, frothy lavender tea latte that I have ordered at the halcyon in Dallas and absolutely loved. And instead of that, I got unsweetened, unfrothed, unsteamed plain MILK with a tea bag stuck in there. The absolute worst drink I've ever had at a coffee shop. My husband got the Thai iced coffee, also not sweet at all which is completely against the point of Thai iced anything. On top of that, the inside of the place needs a serious reno. The furniture and floors and walls feel like they are a hundred years old and no one ever considered how grungy they look. Guess I shouldn't compare so much to the really nice Dallas halcyon. Only redeeming factor was that the guy at the counter was pretty friendly I guess. That's about it. And it's in mueller.

Alina P.

Yelp
What's up with the unfriendly staff? Every time I ever come in here the cashier is unhappy and unsmiling. The internet is unreliable, the coffee is barely passable, and the chairs are so uncomfortable. Why can't we get a decent coffee shop in Mueller? The only thing Halcyon has going for it is that it's spacious, has lots of windows and a clean bathroom. Plus the dance classes. As a coffee shop option where you'd want to work for a couple of hours it sucks.

Eric K.

Yelp
this place has really gone downhill over the last few years (the silver lining being it's at least easier ton get a seat these days). dirty countertops and silverware, incompetent service. definitely the worse of the halcyon locations.

Christina H.

Yelp
Halcyon belongs at Mueller! What a perfect place to grab a coffee or breakfast, and have a stroll around the park after. There is plenty of outdoor seating, pups are allowed, and there is plenty of space inside as well. I ordered a Chai Latte, and the Country Style Benny. I was surprised with how simple and good it was! You aren't going to get those gourmet flavors you would get at other restaurants, but who cares, it's called comfort! For a beautiful simple day, Halcyon is perfect. The Country Style Benny serves a fried chicken with gravy on top of a buttermilk biscuit, egg, and hot sauce, with a side of home fries. Service wise, the lady with the green hair and overly-arched eyebrows was not the friendliest... but thank goodness the drinks and food compensated for that.

Kolby G.

Yelp
Love both locations. Staff is always amazing. So many tasty beverage options. Katz Coffee: Vietnamese Coffee - 4/5 Specialty: Cinnamon Latte w/ Oat Milk - 4/5 Halcyon locations are super fun. Great drinks! My favorite and normal go to is their espresso milk shake. The cinnamon latte was really delicious. The Vietnamese coffee was pretty standard but really well done.

Kerri M.

Yelp
Halcyon is such a cute coffee shop! Love the atmosphere and the location in Mueller is a plus, especially on the weekends with the farmers market right there! I've come here a few times to catch up with friends and think it's great! Trying the s'mores is still on my list! I'm normally not one to get avocado toast at restaurants, but I was very impressed with this one! The smoked salmon was such a great touch, and I'm a huge fan of spicy things, so I loved the red pepper flakes on top! My only complaint is that parking is a little bit of a pain. I would probably go here more often if I didn't have to pay for parking or had an easier time finding it.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I love you, Halcyon. I love your overpriced tater tots (okay, you could argue that the steak justifies the price tag). I love your ambience. I love your QT bartenders. I love your espresso martini. I've been going to the 4th street location for about a decade now and now that I live in the Windsor Park/Mueller area, I find myself at the Aldrich location quite often. But for the love of all things good and decent, please please get rid of the weird & racist Zoltar the Gypsy fortune telling machine. I realize it has 'retro kitsch' appeal, but truly no one cares for it. Really. I love you. Please consider my plea. xoxo

Kelsey S.

Yelp
So the space is lovely, and the staff are nice, BUT while visiting today we saw a rat run through the kitchen. It just instantly turned me off of wanting to eat or drink anything there because ... rats.

Katie C.

Yelp
I normally stop in here just for coffee. However, the other day, I tried the food and I was super impressed. It's in a great location in Mueller with a ton of cocktail and coffee options. Staff is always helpful and nice. I will definitely go here again to try some new things on their menu.

Shelby W.

Yelp
Came to Halcyon for a Sunday brunch with some girlfriends before hitting the Mueller farmers market. What a cute place this is! The indoor space and outdoor patio is very cute and very dog friendly. The line was a bit long but moved quickly especially for a Sunday morning. The best part about coming here for Brunch is the $1 mimosas! One of the servers actually was handing out free mimosas while waiting in line which was awesome! Not to mention that helped the line go by very quickly. I ordered the Brussel sprout bowl, while friends got the breakfast sandwich, the hash, and the breakfast burrito. The favorite for all of us was definitely the breakfast burrito. We all loved our coffee drinks as well, and of course the mimosas were great.

David M.

Yelp
Halcyon offers brunch items, coffee, and cocktails a great spot to hangout to grab a bite or a drink while you walk around Mueller park. I ordered a strawberry smoothie my smoothie was ok, it tasted more like frozen strawberries than fresh ingredients. I did get great service and the dining area had plenty of seating and was clean.

Kristi M.

Yelp
Life hack: get the nacho tots with an egg on top for a nice steak and egg moment. The steak was cooked to perfect. Flavor was spot on. Plenty of seating. Parking wasn't bad being that it was a Saturday afternoon! Only con: coffee wasn't my favorite to be honest.

Mark A.

Yelp
I've been to other Halycons before and had a better experience. It's probably mostly the location, it being packed on a Sunday morning, but it shouldn't justify lower quality. We had four items on our ticket, two cortados (one with a shot in it, another standard), an Americano, and a latte. We got three easily, but when we picked up our drinks for some reason they were unsure that they should actually have two cortados, so the last (mine) was not ready. It took a bit longer, and once I got it, it tasted watered down and less flavorful than usual, really disappointing. I really expected more and will not be going back to this location.

Christine H.

Yelp
I ordered a hot latte with almond milk, and my boyfriend ordered a hot jasmine tea. The hot tea had a nice and calming floral scent. The latte came with a beautiful heart in the middle. The latte was smooth, hot, and delicious. One of the best lattes in Austin! The service was nice and patient. She was the only one working, so she had to multi-task quite often. However, she offered high quality service and handing us lids when they ran out despite making another customer's order. The decor was modern and hipster. We went in the morning, so I'm not sure how busy it gets later in the day. I think this would be a nice place to study, hang out with friends, or bring your kids.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Oh Halcyon how you bring back memories of undergrad nostalgia. The Mueller location is definitely a much cleaner, newer, and open space and I can definitely see this as a great study/work spot. However, my friends and I weren't here to study, but to get our smores on! They apparently have time restrictions on when smores hours are allowed, but luckily they were nice to accommodate us in the back full service area next to the kitchen door. Our waitress was nice getting our drink and smores order for 4 in, but then mid service told us her shift was ending. I don't know why I keep on running into the changing of the guards/waitress times, but at least we were informed this time but yeah the whole closing of our tab felt rushed and a bit awkward. Yet, putting the awkwardness aside I was super excited for our smores! Oh yeah as a heads up it takes awhile for the fire to get to a nice perfectly brown melty temperature so I suggest using the time to open up all your little packets of Graham crackers, yeah they make you work for it. I am sure this is probably much easier and sanitary to serve, but the downside of these packets is that the staff isn't aware what condition the Graham crackers are in. So, just our luck that at least half our Graham crackers were broken and in pieces and tasted a bit stale, such a downer to what could have been a more positive experience.

Jamie P.

Yelp
I had been to the Halcyon downtown, but don't get to visit often since I live up north. I had received a gift card and decided to give the the Mueller location a shot for brunch. We arrived on Saturday around 12:30 and the hostess greeted us with a smile. She let us pick or table type and told us about their specials. She was very sweet. The waiter just have stepped away for a minute because she filled in and got us drinks. I ordered their special hot chocolate flight and it was DELICIOUS! Four types to try. I could tell they really took the time to taste test each type before offering them to the public because each one had just the perfect balance of flavor. The waiter eventually showed up and he was also really kind. We ordered the Country Style Benedict and the concoction of flavors, from the splash of hot sauce to the creamy gravy, really blended well with one another. My husband and I split the plate with an additional side of bacon and we were stuffed by the end. The only slight downside was the side of bacon. It was tiny! Otherwise, we had a really great brunch experience.

Aswathi C.

Yelp
The rating is for the customer service which was great. Food would be a 2. We tried the hummus plate, below average hummus with veggies. The French toast, my toddler did not touch it.. but for a quick eat before going to Thinkery, this place worked. It's right next to it...

Parker T.

Yelp
Halcyon is present in the neighborhood, and that is the best thing they have going for them. The drinks are okay, the atmosphere is fine, and the staff is there. However, it makes a great stop on a long hot walk.

Lydia H.

Yelp
Disappointing to say the least. I ordered an iced dirty chai latte and a coffee cake muffin. The muffin was incredibly dry and flavorless -- resembled nothing close to a coffee cake. The dirty chai latte was just..a very watery iced coffee, I could barely taste the chai. Service is unfriendly -- when I walked up to the cashier, the guy just stood there and looked at me. No "hello", or attempt at pretending to enjoy his job. He clearly did not want to be there. I wish I could get my money back.

Lucky C.

Yelp
Space is great, has a good vibe, latte was not so good. Milk was over steamed, coffee seemed weak. The 12oz might be a single shot from the taste. Again the temperature of the drink was scalding hot, not necessary. If you are going to be a coffee shop make sure your folks are making coffee drinks correctly.

Joseph K.

Yelp
Love the coffee. Great quality. Ambiance is nice. The issue is the slow speed at taking orders. There is a queue of 15 people which takes 20 mins to clear. When you just want to grab a coffee and go, this is frustrating. Either put on my cashiers or look at what is slowing things down and improve the process.

Tro J.

Yelp
Coffee shops that have zero clue on how to make a macchiato. ‍‍. Embarrassing. Just stop the bs.

Young P.

Yelp
It's a nice coffee bar/shop with food offering. Coffee was decent, nothing out of the ordinary. Food was mediocre at best. Took like 20 min to get my food which was super annoying. Came here only because it's right in front of the children's museum....I wouldn't mind coming here again for coffee and drinks, but for food, I highly recommend you go somewhere else.

Yelp
This review is for the coffee only. What enticed me to come in was the sign outside saying cocktails and coffee. They have a full bar and also serve food. I got an iced coffee to go and it was exactly the pick me up I needed. I'm pretty picky when it comes to coffee and they definitely make theirs good!

Yelp
Stopped by this coffee shop while in Austin for the weekend. We wanted to go to Mueller Lake Park for a stroll and stumbled upon this place. The line was long, but moved quickly however, the drinks took forever to be made. It was clear they were either understaffed or overworked or both. I ordered a mocha almond milk latte, which took about 20 minutes to come out and others were waiting for their drinks for 20-30 minutes. The place is cute and there's cool art on the walls so a nice atmosphere overall and the latte was pretty good, but be prepared to wait a long time!
