"Han Dynasty has locations in Old City, University City, and Manayunk. At all of them, you’ll find Sichuan dishes and bars crowded with people watching a game or celebrating another week of not getting fired. The dim sum menu only has eight or so options, but they're all pretty good. We especially like the pan-fried chicken dumplings coated with garlic-soy and the pork belly in a sweet and spicy chili oil." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"With lots of locations, Han Dynasty’s Sichuan food is all over the city. Unlike the old, ornate Old City space or University City’s sports-bar theme, Manayunk’s is the most lowkey. Instead of TVs inside, they have a bunch of large tables where you can bring a last-minute group for an affordable meal (entrees are all under $20). The dan dan noodles are the signature dish here—beware, they’re pretty spicy—but if you can’t handle the heat, there are about 50 other things on the menu that you can get instead. Or just suck it up and get the dan dan. It’s worth it." - candis mclean
"The Han Dynasty in University City checks two important boxes–it serves some of the best Sichuan food around, and it’s a full-on sports bar to watch whatever game happens to be on TV. We love the spicy dan dan noodles with pork (but if spicy isn’t for you, they can bring down the heat). There are countless other delicious items on the menu, like dumplings in chili oil, scallion-style lamb, and tender ginger shredded duck. Order a bunch to enjoy while you watch the Flyers lose." - candis mclean
"Since 2007, Han Chiang has been perfecting his menu with an undeniable appreciation of spice throughout all his Sichuan dishes. Han Dynasty has become a Chinese dining institution in Philly with its remarkable dan dan noodles, black pepper short ribs, spicy prawns, green peppercorn fish, and more." - Diana Lu
"Han Dynasty has a bunch of locations, but the original in Old City original is still solid. It’s in an old, ornate building that has a long bar where you can sit and watch whatever sports happen to be on. It also has our favorite Sichuan food in the city, and you can order a whole lot of it for about $25. Their dan dan noodles are our favorite thing here (even though they’re pretty spicy), but if you can’t handle the heat, there are about 50 other things on the menu that you can get instead." - candis mclean, alison kessler
