The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"Opened in 1983, Hansung Kalguksu is, as the name suggests, a beloved kalguksu (hand-cut noodles) restaurant. Hansung’s version is relatively simple, with clean beef broth and zucchini for topping. Although a good bowl of noodles always satisfies, Hanseong is a popular drinking spot known for its wide variety of dishes. Diners come to have a good time with chilled drinks and classic items such as hanwoo suyuk (boiled hanwoo beef), jeyuk (boiled pork), modeum jeon (assorted fritters including shrimp, oysters, and fish), and mandu (dumplings). Must-try dish: Nakji-bokkeum, spicy stir-fried octopus, is a popular option, but the pro move is to tweak your order by adding kalguksu noodles." - Matty Kim

A friend recommended this family-run spot, and wow, it did not disappoint! The Jeyuk (boiled pork belly) is hands down the best I’ve ever had. I regret ordering the small portion—should’ve gone big and skipped one of the other dishes! The pork belly is tender, with zero "piggy" smell (a rare feat), and the Saeujeot (shrimp sauce) is incredibly fresh, savory, and pairs perfectly with the meat. The Nakji-Beokkeum (spicy stir-fried octopus) was another highlight. The portion is generous, made with fresh, local small octopus, and the sauce is a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and a sneaky kick of spice. You can even add noodles to soak up all that deliciousness. The Anju-Mandu (jumbo Korean dumplings) are no joke—huge and hearty! The hot soup they come in is just what you need on a chilly day. I arrived around noon on a weekday, so there was a short wait, but it moved quickly. The service was warm, friendly, and super efficient.

This is a traditional restaurant that has been around since 1983. They offer some decent Korean dishes like shrimp jeon and jeyook. Their specialties are jeyook and sooyook. The restaurant moved to this location a few years ago, but the previous location was better.

We honestly really liked the noodle soup, it was clean and great hand pulled texture. The Mandu were okay, but the pork belly and shrimp fritters were the best! It was quick, cheap and delicious!

Super authentic Korea food! Must try the braised beef and Octopus spicy noodles! This place is very popular and doesn’t take any reservations so make sure to come early or be prepared to queue up with the other locals.

It’s very hard to make Kalguksu this bad. Don’t come here and save time and money going to another restaurant. It was really busy but im assuming everyone is there to just try it and won’t come back second time. Portion is very small aswell but they make it look generous by giving noodle refill.

Korean traditional 주점(Ju Jeom : Korean equivalent of bistrot) with great quality and very traditional taste. Their foods are amazing but the price is quite expensive.

(Updated in June 2023) The restaurant, since year 1983, has been listed onto Blue Ribbon Survey since year 2012. It is also introduced from the famous TV program, Wednesday Food Talk (수요미식회, Suyomisikhoe) It specializes in Kalguksu (chopped noodle soup, 칼국수, 11K KRW). Like the Andong noodle style, the soup is light and the noodles just made are recommended (otherwise, it comes to soggy soon) If it tastes bland, seasoning soy sauce can be added. For summer season, noodles in cold bean soup (콩국수, 12K) can be a good option which is savory. It is a beloved place also for other side dishes for drinks. The Clam Soup (조개탕, 21K) has lots of umami. Boiled Beef (수육, 30K) and Pork Slices (제육, 27K) are tender, chewy and slimy. Fresh cooked Mung Bean Pancake (빈대떡, 11K) is crispy and nutty. All they match well with Soju (Korean Schnaps) or Makgeoli (raw rice win) The restaurant is recommendable for friends, couples and friends. Even the dining in the rainy season is also tasteful. There are spacious hall tables and rooms for private dining. Valet parking is available. Meal budget per person (without drinks) Category 1 (under 60000 KRW, 50 USD) The restaurant is since year 1983 and specializes in Kalguksu (chopped noodle soup) Like the Andong noodle style, the soup is light and the noodles just made are recommended (otherwise, it comes to soggy soon) If it tastes bland, seasoning soy sauce can be added. Fresh cooked Mung Bean Pancake tastes crispy and nutty. The restaurant is recommended especially when it rains or cold weather. When it is hot weather, noodles in cold bean soup can be a good option which is savory.
