Yelp
I came here to sample their food for my wedding on Chinese New Years Weekend and expected good service and a great time. in fact, I had an 11:30 am appointment with the manager and all, and when I showed up, overall, was so unimpressed by the whole visit, that I will not be signing with them for my wedding, nor will I come back to eat. The manager didn't even show us much hospitality- tossed us a menu and went off- didn't even discuss the wedding menu she had typed only on paper menu, and then afterwards, the dimsum was mediocre/average, service was abysmal, and they even forgot one of our main dishes' orders. Not very professional and would have caused me much anxiety on my wedding day.
Wedding service: they give you a paper menu in all Chinese and some broken English description. For the price you pay of 600$ a table including service and tips and tax, it's really expensive. The offerings we were given included eight spiced duck, shark fin soup, quail, roasted duck, appetizer platter, black mushroom with chinese broccoli, yang chow fan, walnut shrimp, and lobster. This is an impressive menu at first glance, but we decided shark fin was cruel, chinese broccoli was too cheap, and weren't sure what the appetizer platter meant. When you come to the restaurant, it's 40$ a person to even try this option. So we decided to order off the menu and try their dim sum.
Dim sum: the wrappings/skin were coming off of everything- stuck together, indicating over cooked dim sum. The pork ribs were too oily. The glutinous rice was not bad. The siu mai wasn't bad but wasn't outstanding. I was more appalled that everything was stuck together and looked like they weren't turned over too fast enough- indicating lack of freshness and lack of demand by customers, meaning sitting out too long in the carts.
Lobster- their lobster wasn't bad but was certainly pricy- the seasonal price was 18.99$/ lb and this dish was definitely the better of all that we had but this must have been where the MSG was hiding b/c I was downing a gallon of water afterward even through my engagement. It is braised stir fried in a rich oily sauce.
Mu-shu vegetable- the wrap that you're supposed to wrap mu shu in here ripped apart as soon as we put the too moist and overcooked veggies in. Flavor was fine but veggies were brown.
Walnut Shrimp- a popular dish that reminded me of a light popcorn shrimp in mayo with broccoli on the side the contrast this rich dish. I highly recommend this who love their crisp and mayo.
Soup- we ordered the seafood veggie soup and seafood tofu. Seafood Tofu was a super filler soup in my opinion with frozen peas and artificial crab- reminded me of a cheap tofu soup in most buffets. The seafood veggie had a healthy and comfortable broth with shrimp and squid. This was a better soup to me/c one could clearly see the individual components and was less filler than the other soup.
Service was quite poor. One had to go up and actively flag someone for service. The manager didn't even come and speak to us despite our appointment and it was quite disappointing in hospitality. Refills were almost nil.
