"When a chef comes out of the kitchen with a blow torch in hand and a hanging rack of meat, you know it’s a good restaurant for a birthday. Sure, the dining room at Harper’s itself is gorgeous, with greenery and black leather banquettes that seat a group of six comfortably. But it’s the presentation of the food—seafood towers toppling with crustaceans and the giant format creme brulee (here comes that blowtorch again)—that makes this a memorable birthday choice." - jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak
"The steakhouse superlative for “Most Likely to Show Up in a TikTok Livestream” goes to … Harper’s, a steakhouse near SoBro. The tuna starter is served under a smoke-filled dome when it arrives at the table, and the massive crème brûlée is torched tableside. It all feels right in the space with big floral wallpaper, lots of greenery, and black leather banquettes. The steaks are heavy hitters, with the large format filets clocking in at about 30-40 ounces. But the star of the show is the elk tenderloin in a blackberry demi-glace, a savory and delicate cut with just a hint of gaminess to keep things interesting." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"We usually reserve Harper’s for when we have a high-maintenance friend in town who wants to really dress up for dinner. But with its big floral wallpaper, cascading greenery, and tuna starter served under a smoke-filled dome, it also works for a big group looking for a striking and sceney steakhouse. The garden room is nice if you want a bright and sunny view of the trolley barns area, but you really want to be in the main dining room because of the black leather dining nooks that feel like a semi-private VIP situation. And while the space is impressive, the food is also worth a visit, especially the Nashville hot quail eggs, elk tenderloin with blackberry demi-glace, and a tableside crème brûlée that feeds six people, plus other large-format desserts." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"Harper’s in SoBro has a decidedly more romantic vibe than a typical chophouse — thank the vibrant floral wallpaper, cozy dining nooks, lush greenery, and intricate stonework and archways. The showy menu of slow-roasted ribeyes, delicate slices of elk tenderloin in a blackberry demi-glace, 40-day dry-aged bone-in NY strip, and massive desserts (like a creme brulee that’s torched tableside) impress with both style and substance." - Kellie Walton
"Harper’s forever upped Nashville’s steakhouse game when it came to town in August 2023, becoming a fast favorite for special occasions and celebrations among locals and visitors. The long-awaited brunch service launched this June, available on Saturdays only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu will reflect dinnertime with raw bar and steak options, but expands to include eggs and avocado toast, an acai power bowl, and créme brûlée French toast. If you’re visiting Music City with a crowd, large format options include a 40-ounce porterhouse steak and eggs plate and a “brunch bucket list” offering with a chicken and waffles tower, biscuits, fries, and a bottle of bubbles." - Kellie Walton
