"Hash, a casual restaurant in Wicker Park, reopened with a new look and menu. Despite the pandemic challenges, it remains a favorite for breakfast and brunch. The restaurant, known for its variety of hashes, offers plenty for vegans and families. After a temporary closure, new ownership led by Emily McKern and Mitch Buller transformed the space, emphasizing hospitality and local ingredients. While dine-in is not yet available, carryout has started, featuring a new menu with some old favorites and special items like "Hashes to Hashes" hot sauce. Hash continues to operate as BYO and aims to partner with community groups." - Ashok Selvam

Disappointing experience, not worth the wait, and overpriced. Don't waste your time or money. We were so excited to have vegan options here and got the vegan sausage/egg on kaiser roll + vegan french toast sticks. The french toast sticks cost $8.00 and were burnt and didn't even taste that great. Burger King french toast sticks are vegan and better, and cost like $2.50. Just go there if you want french toast sticks. The breakfast rolls might have been good, if they weren't almost cold with soggy bread. We did pickup and the estimated time was 30-35 min. We sat outside, waiting, for nearly 50-55 minutes before we got the text saying it's ready, and it was barely luke warm? My guess is they forgot to activate the text saying it's ready and did it like 20-30 minutes late. Overall, this was a really disappointing and frustrating (and overpriced) experience. We will not be back.

First time there: street parking was easy due to it being winter break. The restaurant was busy, but enjoyable. This was a different type of setup than I was expecting. You order your food at the register and then they bring it out to you when it's done. Not bad, just new for me. The restaurant is quaint, but cozy. My only not so pleasant experience with this restaurant was the order taker/cashier. She could've been having a rough morning or something, she didn't make eye contact, no smile, and was just giving the impression that she was trying to "just get through the day". Other than that, food was delicious, cooked to order properly, fresh and flavorful. The restaurant seemed clean and the other staffers were attentive and friendly. I'd definitely return in the future.

This review is based on the hash I ordered off their special menu. I cannot speak to the rest of the menu. We were looking for a good brunch place to go with a group of friends and stumbled upon this place through top brunch spots. The set up is simple, not a lot of tables inside, maybe 10 tops. You sit down to an available table first and then come to the front to order your meal. I ordered the buffalo chicken hash which was . The 3 Berry Cake was sooooo good. Moist, sweet, and good quality. My friend had the bean burger which she mentioned was great. We also ordered the truffle omelet which my other friend said was great! I can understand why this was a top rated spot. You won't regret the wait if there is one.

Have loved this place for a few years. Very glad they’re still around. Great diner vibe. Great food. And staff! Also great for dairy free options. The Root Veggie hash with eggs is top notch. Beef Stew is salty but good. Plain coffee at $3.50 is a little steep, but that’s less of a complaint and more of advanced warning for anyone else. We always love when we finish food from here because we immediately look forward to getting it again.

The owner actually waited on us and she's amazing. The food, even better!! I'm gluten free and was amazed at the options. Seriously, if you get the chance check it out. Also, try the Reuben Hash, you won't be sorry!!

Breakfast burrito with chorizo was very meat-heavy. It was good - but a bit much. Would get hash next time. Order at counter and grab a table. A little hectic but once we were sitting, the atmosphere was nice.

Good breakfast option if you're really hungry or in the mood for comfort food. Plenty of menu options and a lot of items have a unique twist. My friend, for example, got the chickpea hash, which had some curry tomato sauce over it. I went more traditional and got the Pork Bubble and Squeak Hash, which was also good. Very casual place and fast service. Overall good experience. I'll be coming back.
