All five of us came here as my son and his girlfriend recommended. Absolutely fabulous! The service, food atmosphere was a total wonderful experience. We came here on the 11/7/24 for my Son’s Graduation celebration. He was given a complimentary graduation celebration drink, that was a great surprise for him, shown in the photo. The new waiter I believe been working there for a week the way he worked I thought he had been there for years, was extremely helpful and our glasses were filled soon as they slightly became empty. The steak was succulent everything about the food took me to another place totally fantastic. We will all be back for another enjoyable time. Best service we ever have had. Top notch! THANK YOU!

The service was awesome! The guys were super friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't get the name of the guy who served us, but he was great and really made the meal special they also did a dessert for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The burger and mac 'n' cheese were both really good. I skipped the steaks because I had them for lunch the other day and they were way too salty for my taste. I tried my wife's steak to see if it was just a one-time thing, but nope, it was still super salty. She liked it, but I'm not a fan of over-salted steaks. The drinks are super expensive. Overall, it was a nice meal, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to go back without a decent discount voucher! 😂

Been there with our staffs for lunch and it was just AMAZINGG... The food, service, ambience, everything. Table of 20 I guess or more so but the staffs giving us service were all friendly, explaining and giving recommendations as well. The scallops 💯 really liked the crumbs on top. Rib eye was cooked as I wanted. Getting over done steaks isn't a new thing 🥲. The sides, sauces and the wine. PERFECT. The tart was something else on its own. A treat to both the sight and the palate. (That was the 1st ever dessert I ate all and that too on my own.) Until next time 🫶🏻

We came here today for my Partners birthday and after walking through to the dining hall it was absolutely beautiful! The building is stunning! My Partner had the Sirloin and both myself and my daughter had the Rump alongside the Beef Dripping Chips, Mac n Cheese, Garlic Mushrooms, mashed potatoes and garlic lemon spinach. Everything was amazing. Kerise was our waiter and she was so attentive. I won’t be able to stay away from here it’s took us ages to get a slot!

Went for my 60th birthday. The service was outstanding as usual. Food mouthwatering. Forgot to take pic of the main. We had a Chateaubriand and a Rib eye on the bone. The wine complemented the meal. Desserts were delicious and the dessert wine complemented it well. Definitely returning soon.

We have been for a family meal recently, as this place had been recommended to us by many friends. We were not disappointed. Superb service, best care and attention to assure the customer has a memorable experience, not just a meal out. We knew we were in a good place from the moment we crossed the front door. Very well trained staff took care of us explaining the menu in details with great knowledge about every dish. And to Beth that served us: you are a star! Thank you! We will be back very soon. A very happy customer.

We went there to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. The waiter Danny was super friendly and nice. He explained well about the food and dishes. We enjoyed the starters very much, especially the oysters and bone marrow, the scallops and smoked mackerel with potatoes salads are nice too. The main courses we tried were the monk fish and chateaubriand steak, with Caesar salad and smashed potatoes. Danny arranged a secret coattail to the birthday girl and we all had a wonderful dinner together.

We visited on a Monday evening and have been to London branches of Hawksmoor. We had cocktails and oysters in the bar. Wonderful service and skill from the Bar staff. They really do hone their art. We had the express menu which was excellent. The hake was beautifully cooked. We did the BYO and they decanted our 14 year old red wine. It was really busy in the different dining spaces. The main dining area has a glass roof so the lighting is wonderful. Thanks to everyone for a great evening.

Yelp
Had an excellent meal with my Dad who needed wheelchair access and the staff were great and helpful. The food was great with a novel twist on a pie crust with a bone marrow emerging from the top. Really enjoyed the meal.

Excellent food, fantastic vibe and great service! Highly recommended. We went there for a birthday and was great for a group of five.

Yelp

The restaurant's Porterhouse steak is an absolute triumph of flavor and texture, and the extensive wine list perfectly complements the dishes. First, let's talk about the Porterhouse. Yelp
Came here for the 15 pounds lunch special, and it didn't disappoint! The steak was delicious, at a good value, and the waiters were really nice! I was on budget so didn't order gravy, but I wish there were some gravy. Fries were a-okay. The coke bottle was hella small! Anyways, pretty good deal for lunch.

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious food, lovely atmos what more could you want!

Yelp
Loved it!!! This place was such a great find! Food was amazing and pricing was great too. The macaroni and cheese, field mushrooms and mash and gravy went amazingly well with any cut of steak. I wasn't too sure about the food I was going to get but my goodness it was so fresh and so tasteful. They also have a menu located alongside the wall which will list the pounds per lb for certain cuts of steak. If in the area it is a definite stop off for a nice dinner. So good!!

Yelp
Entering the venue this evening I was promptly met and jacket checked and taken by a very kind hostess at the front. Went up to the bar solo and sat down and ordered a red off the wine by the glass menu. I decided on the Vietnamese oysters, the hawksmoor burger with short rib accompaniment and triple fried chips. All three items were well received, flavored and portioned. Had some friends meet me at the bar for drinks and ordered another glass of wine ... they couldn't identify the wine I ordered so showed them again.. still took them quite some time to pour the glass so I could join my friends in a cheers and they decided to comp off the wine for the delay which was a nice gesture Nice room, great food and product

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Hawkmoor's soft opening and for a soft opening it came off without any major hitches. We started the night well with attentive service in the bar admiring the extensive and elegantly presented cocktail menu. We were constantly refilled water from the moment we arrived which was great although personally I would prefer it colder (too much time in America). Although I was disappointed the fillet steak wasn't available the fillet steak tartare was still on the menu and it was sensational. Likewise I would highly recommend the spicy ginger pig ribs, which came with beautifully tangy salad. Some of the other starters I thought looked less interesting but these two are definitely strong. I got a wine recommendation from our knowledgeable and enthusiastic server (Californian Cabernet Sauvignon) which I greatly enjoyed (not a wine expert though but the others tried it too so read their reviews!) I really liked that when we asked questions she had ready answers and recommendations. She clearly knew the menu well and wasn't afraid to make suggestions. Another member of staff helped us with the steak choice, suggesting that the porterhouse was a good compromise because it has some fillet. I only tried a little bit of the fillet but it was sensational. The rest of the steak was quite varied in texture and taste but all basically delicious. A lot of fat though so one to avoid if that's not your thing. Dips wise we chose anchovy hollandaise and stilton hollandaise. I couldn't decide which one I liked more so I would advise the best course of action is to order both. I'm here to help. The half lobster we had with our steak (YEAH?) was a generous size and came with a delicious butter and herb sauce. Recommended if you can spare the extra dosh. The dripping fries are basically like the world's most delicious McDonalds fries. I would say they're unmissable but the triple cooked looked even better. Both types of spinach were fairly good although frankly next time I might go for something less healthy. For dessert I tried the black forest pavlova. I'm actually not wild about black forest but I love pavlova and I did enjoy this. I've gone off desserts of late so didn't find the menu particularly appealing, but there's also some reasonably priced cheese and also a large post dinner drink menu. I only had the espresso martini which was good quality but the rest of the cocktail menu looked very interesting, including one called the Deansgate No 2 which was made with rye, Cocchil Ross Aperol and orange bitters which sadly wasn't available but will be my first choice next time. Would definitely have been 5* if fillet steak had been available, I would love to go back and try it but probably won't as cannot afford it. I have however already planned my next meal which will include the burger (with kimchi, love!) and without a doubt the steak tartare again. The commitment of the staff here to creating an excellent dining experience was clear and I have no doubt they will be successful. Thanks for a great night!

Yelp
I was visiting with friends in Manchester and we decided to meet for a "Thanksgiving" meal. The rib eye steak was delicious and we enjoyed sides of mushrooms, mash potatoes and gravy, brussel sprouts, etc. The service was excellent and the cocktails were tasty. I will have to seek out their other locations in London sometime. I highly recommend when in the area.

Yelp
I came here tonight (Friday night) with my 8 year old daughter. We are visiting Manchester from Canada. I was in search for the best steak in Manchester. Not only did I find it, but I also found the best steak I've had in my entire life. I had a T-bone steak that was so amazing words can't even describe it. The spice. The cut. It was perfect. This restaurant is so good I made a reservation for the following night. I NEVER do that! I had the most unbelievable T-bone steak. I can't wait to eat here again. Not to mention the staff is also unbelievable. Thank you for the most memorable eating experience Manchester could ever give me.

Yelp
The venue itself is beautiful. You enter through the corner of a grand building which used to be the court house, and into what feels like a hotel lobby, decorated in dark panelling with a desk, behind which a friendly member of staff greets you and offers to put your coat in a large cloak wardrobe, giving you a retrieval tag. You're then lead upstairs, through the bar, and to your table. We are lead to a large room with a big skylight, meaning that you go from the wonderful dimly and theatrically lit bar and other dining areas to a bright open space. The furniture is all wood and traditional style and coloured leather seating, walls are half dark wooden panel and half pale paint, with some areas having old fashioned glazed brick tile, which has a wonderful effect. Aside the decor, the first thing I notice is that the staff are casually dressed, not wearing any sort of uniform. The only thing that makes them recognisable is that they also wear a small black apron. I think this, coupled with popular music playing is a good idea, as it takes the grand and fancy style of the venue and softens it slightly, making it feel a little more casual, and not as intimidating or elite. We look through the cocktail menu, at which point our waiter comes over and opens with, "lets get you some alcohol!", causing us both to laugh. We don't drink, so chose the softs of "Ginger and Juice" and "Mint and Apple Swizzle". The waiter didn't actually tell us his name, but he was friendly and casual, and nothing seemed like too much for him. The campest most fanciful drinks turned up. They were both thoroughly delicious, and as we'd been also given water to drink, which was regularly topped up, we were able to take our time with the soft drinks and enjoy them. It was a really pleasant change to have an actual "softs" menu treated like a cocktail menu, offering nice sounding drinks that were made freshly, rather than the usual Coke/Fanta/Lemonade draught gun option. For our starter, we ordered the Potted Beef with Yorkshires, and the Ginger Pig Belly Ribs. Both arrived in good time, and were presented beautifully. The Yorkshires were what we would call "PROPER" Yorkshires, gigantic and crispy, the potted beef was delicious, and the marrow onion gravy that came in a gravy boat with it was one of the best we've ever tried! The ribs were so tender that my regular knife glided through the bones like they were butter! They came with some shredded coleslaw which was full of flavour, and not simply a big blob of mayonnaise. Delicious, and surprisingly filling! For our mains, I ordered the Hawksmoor Burger with a side of triple cooked chips, and my partner ordered the herb-fed chicken with sides of field mushrooms and lemon and garlic spinach. My burger was what I can only term as astounding. I was advised that the burgers are cooked through, but may sometimes be a bit pink, and I was asked if this is okay... this is my preference, and good god this burger was cooked PERFECTLY! Unctuous and juicy, when I bit through the burger there was no resistance! My teeth went straight through because of how soft and perfect the meat was, and full of flavour, not relying on a huge splodge of melted cheese to coat it, but just enough to add some extra texture and a flavour accompaniment. The triple cooked chips actually lived up to their name, rather than many places which use the term "triple cooked" simply to be on a bandwagon. These chips were crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned meaning you didn't need to so much as touch the salt on the table, and although bringing ketchup to the table was a nice thought, it wasn't needed! (Although I tasted it, and it was a lovely sweet and fruity ketchup!). My partner's chicken was excellent; juicy, with flavourful skin, and perfectly moist and tender. The field mushrooms were meaty and filling, and the lemon and garlic spinach was sensational! Who knew spinach could be sensational?! We had a breather before ordering desserts, but given the quality so far, we couldn't resist! My partner proclaimed the sticky toffee pudding as the best he has ever had, despite not having his favourite topping of good old fashioned custard. When I pointed this out to him, he replied that at this stage he thought that custard would in fact spoil the pudding! High praise from this person, believe me! The clotted cream on top and toffee sauce were perfection. My sundae was delicious. The ice cream and toffee sauces were wonderful, and to my surprise, the sundae itself also contained sticky toffee sponge, presumably the same type used in the pudding dish. This was perfection, the toffee itself was a deep and incredibly rich flavour, and went down perfectly. The other sundae option is raspberry ripple, and I couldn't help but wonder what marvellous treat that must also be... I'll be trying that next time! Walked slowly through Manchester in a dreamlike state. We had a really good time here. We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
Visiting friends in Manchester and they took us there the night before we left - What a fun place great food and great wines! My steak was absolutely amazing - cooked to perfection- I tried all the local things as appetizers and was not disappointed- Fun place - seemed pretty trendy - my only commentary would probably be that it was very loud - at least the room we were seated in - Go there it's worth it -

Yelp
For an "airy fairy " place I actually enjoyed my experience here tonight. The front of this restaurant is very dark, and almost looks closed. When you enter , it feels like checking into a hotel. Behind a gorgeous wooden counter, the receptionist offered to take our coats in exchange for some sturdy cardboard receipt cards. Coats stored safely away in the magic wardrobe we followed the kind lady. Winding through past the bar I felt like I had been cast back in time . The dark leather on the upholstery, low lighting and antique wooden glass doors reminded me of a 1940's smoking lounge. Having been seated we looked through the cocktail menu, which averaged around £9 a glass. These sounded luxurious, I however chose this mint and cucumber wizzle to rehydrate myself. Tap water was consistently topped up. The starters ironically were similarly priced to that of a main I.e from £8.50 to £12.50 . I almost went for the scallops but we settled on the ricotta dumplings and sticky ginger ribs instead. When mine arrived, I thought it was pretty looking but not substantial for £9. The ricotta was so rich though it was surprisingly the right amount. The pork ribs had a great strong Asian flavour, but were quite dry and grissley in parts. Moving on to mains, one has to order side dishes too. I had the garlic , chilli and rosemary bream with spinach to accompany it. My colleague ordered the fillet steak , with maple bacon and triple cooked chips. The waiter was fab and suggested the right wine and reassured the chefs version of a "well done " steak would not be raw. The portions were more pleasing this time. I had a whole baked fish, with a good portion of the green stuff. However the flavours in my fish were suttle and forgettable. But the bacon was thick and flavoursome, the steak of good quality and the chips perfectly crisp. To finish a lemon & vanilla yoghurt cheesecake and Cherry sorbet were ordered. A cornell of a deconstructed cheesecake appeared, which was nice, but not as good as the sorbet. Overall I love the dark gloomy aura of the place, which was ran by bright casually dressed people. I enjoyed the experience more than the food, I guess "fine dining" doesn't tick all of my boxes. I would come here for a brandy and smoke a cigar though. P.s excuse the dark photos , the flash from my camera would have shone like a beacon here

Yelp
Great place for Sunday roasts, special occasions or any time you fancy sitting somewhere beautiful and paying a bit more. Cocktails also good.

Yelp
It was 'Meet the Parents time for Neil C.' so we opted to go to Hawksmoor for lunch. It's a huge space, occupying a perfect spot on Deansgate. The service was excellent and friendly from the moment we walked in the door. We were presented with a cocktail on arrival (a gift for us having narrowly missed out on a soft launch spot) which was excellent. We all ordered from the express lunch menu, which is very reasonably priced. For starter I tried the bone marrow, which for a first timer, was lovely. It was so rich and flavoursome, had cooked onions on top and was served with warm bread. Bone marrow butties! My mum had the scallops, which she devoured in seconds. For our main courses most of us opted for the Fillet tail - smaller than a usual piece of fillet - but cooked perfectly and served with triple cooked chips. The creamed spinach was a lovely addition to the dish too. Overall it was a lovely experience. The steaks are, as most people will point out, very expensive. Opting for a Chateaubriand would break the bank for most. But it's good, very good.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday meal and was not disappointed. Tremendously friendly servers, a brilliant atmosphere and a relaxed, unpretentious experience. We had a delicious bottle of prosecco, which was very reasonably priced. The food was amazing and we were so full that we thought we wouldn't need a pudding. Until our wonderful waitress surprised me with a beautiful (free!) birthday treat. Booked our next trip here the following day! Definitely a new favourite.

Yelp
I'd had this place on my radar for a while, and finally ended up making a Saturday lunchtime visit. I ordered the bone marrow with onions, and the sirloin steak with sides of maple bacon and two fried eggs. I was a little dubious to order a sirloin, considering it's a cut that's at the lower-mid end of the scale when it comes to steaks, but my goodness, I did not regret it. The size of the steak was satisfying, and the flavour was beyond anything I've eaten before. Slightly cheesy, funky, extremely beefy; all the things a steak should be when properly aged. The maple bacon was a nice little addition, and very tasty. The fried eggs, well, they're fried eggs. The quality was good, but my only complaint (literally my only complaint with the whole meal), was that the eggs were crispy on the bottom, which isn't my favourite, and the yolks only half-runny. I would've liked the option of having my eggs fried how I like them, but it wasn't a big deal. The starter of bone marrow and onions (served with a sourdough bread, which I didn't eat because of the carbs) was incredible. The bones were chunky, fatty, plenty of marrow in them, and the onions were insane. Simple ingredients shining because of the quality of the produce. The servers are all very friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they're not just your average waiter - they're passionate about the restaurant, and rightly so. One of the better meals I've eaten, and definitely the best sirloin steak I've ever had. By far.

Yelp
Best dining experience I've had in Manchester. The interior feels really sophisticated, and has beautiful wooden paneling. They really pay attention to detail and you feel like you're being looked after from the person who greets you at the door and takes your coat, to the waitresses who take you through to the separate dining room from the bar. There were quite a few tables, yet it still felt fairly intimate. My friend and I went for the express menu, I had potted mackerel for starter and a filet of steak for main. I was really pleased to get the last filet steak. My friend went for bone marrow, which came with nice bread and rump steak. We shared the Eton mess style dessert. Having never tried bone marrow before I was pleasantly surprised, and loved the way it comes out in half a bone! My steak was beautifully done, medium rare and very tender. With chips and creamed spinach as sides I was so full i could barely manage dessert. It was really noticeable how genuinely friendly the staff were and they were really chatty. They talked us through the different cuts of the beef and which part of the cow it had come from. This is without a doubt the nicest restaurant I've been to Manchester and it was a really great experience.

Alyson T.

Yelp
Sat on the bar area while on a work trip solo. It's very Harry Potter-eske. Order a pre-dinner cocktail which was amazing! The list of options I s quality. I ordered the burger with dripping fries and it was mouthwatering! It's the type of burger you expect in a steakhouse. Followed dinner with dessert, the waiter recommend the chocolate hazelnut dessert, but I tried the sticky toffee pudding with cream Sherry and it was AMAZING! if you've never tried sticky toffee pudding, this is the place. Also, appreciated the bar service as they were attentive but also gave me my time even as an individual guest. I will be c Ming here again when I'm in the mood for a good burger and dessert!

Yelp
As the lego song goes 'everything is awesome' - and on this trip it sure was! I'm going to go into more detail when I return for dinner soon and it's less of an express lunch but on this 50% off soft opening launch deal I can say that. 1. Great job of the interior, classy without it being overbearing 2. Staff were very friendly even if slightly too long to wait to put our order in at lunch time. 3. The scallops to start, veal and fried oysters and mini doughnuts and salted caramel rolo's were all amazing and properly finished me off and put me in a food coma for the afternoon. 4. My wife had the full lobster and amazing ribs to start - so, so, so good - my next visits starter for sure! 5. All our food with just one mocktail should have been £100 but we got it for £50 with the opening deal so not bad - but if you wanna live large it's gonna be an expensive meal for 2 so maybe good for special occasions. I'm definitely going back very soon!

Yelp
Through some miracle managed to get a table for six people during their two week soft launch. As it was one of the most hotly anticipated new restaurant openings for the city in a good while, we were really excited to see what it was like. Warmly welcomed at their reception desk, we were shown up a few steps to their bar area (beautiful vintage parque wooden flooring) and invited to sit down for our drinks order before eventually being shown through to the restaurant. If you're a lover of cocktails in particular, Hawksmoor definitely doesn't disappoint - their menu is packed with numerous interesting concoctions. Whiskies are there in some number also, less so for the beer lover however (I'm hoping that they'll rectify this and stock a few more local ales). Whilst waiting for our drinks, which took rather a long time considering the number of staff who were in the bar (though I'll say that's probably down to initial training niggles) we had our water glasses filled often. When the drinks arrived we didn't have long until we were told our table was ready for us. The restaurant is elegant, intimately-lit and spread across two adjacent rooms accessed via archways. On one white-glossed-tiled wall are the kitchens where you can see the chefs and kitchen staff in action (and also the plates ready to be served to hungry guests). On the opposite wall was an impressively stocked wine 'cellar', though you could spy the racks of bottles through its glass door - a nice design touch which more eateries should adopt. With it being a soft opening, it was half price for all food items, though given Hawksmoor's reputation as a higher end restaurant, this discount meant that you'd be paying for an above-average costing meal elsewhere. For instance, under 'normal' conditions, their Porterhouse steak (which two of us shared), would be an eye watering £85 (that's on its own, with no side dishes). This wasn't even the most expensive steak on the menu. So as long as someone else / your boss are paying the bill, you can go absolutely wild here. The bone marrow and onion starter was very good indeed - I'd recommend this as a side dish with your steak actually. The triple-cooked chips and creamed spinach which accompanied our Porterhouse were also gorgeous. For wine with dinner, we opted for Viano Vineyards' 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon which was stunning. Dessert, however, wasn't a winner for me on this occasion - their peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream was nothing much to write home about. Two of the group said they enjoyed their ice cream sundaes but after the exuberance during the previous two courses it was a bit anticlimactic. Would recommend the salted caramel rolos, but they're rather bittersweet so suggest you share them! It was terrific to be able to try out a dining spot on the 'finer' end of the spectrum for a change but as I've mentioned, it's probably one for very special occasions, lottery wins or 'Wolf of Spinningfields' office parties.

Yelp
Like half of Manchester, when I received an email inviting me to apply for the soft launch of Hawksmoor, I sent off the emails with hands shaking and hoping to get a spot. When I had a similar email regarding Fazenda last year, I was not so lucky, so my hopes were not high. Much to my delight and surprise, I received a Monday lunchtime appointment. Just the thing to set the week off to a nice start, I thought. Today, the day finally arrived where I got to visit the place that I'd so many good things about from London friends. We arrived in the door and my friend and I were immediately impressed by the entrance. We were welcomed by Lucy, who is the BDM manager. I had been emailing her the week before about the PA Rewards scheme - if anyone reading this is a PA, then you should get in touch as it's ace! We were taken through the fantastic looking bar area (note to self: come here for drinks at a later date), through to our table in the main dining area. There was a private dining area to the right of my table. Everything on the menu looked amazing and I wished I was there for the evening without having to think about rushing back to work. However, I was where I was and went for a burger with triple cooked chips. I was asked if I wanted it pink or well done, which is nice as you don't always get the choice with burgers. I decided to wash it down with a glass of the house red. My friend went for a rump steak and greens. With wine. The wine was brought over quite quickly. For a house red, this was very smooth and drinkable and I highly recommend it. Quite pricey at £6.00 a glass but worth it, in my opinion. Now the only downside to our visit was the wait for the food. Being on a lunch hour, and not the kind of lunch with clients or colleagues where you can be a bit late back, we needed quick service. I am pretty sure that this is the kind of thing they will iron out over the soft launch. The staff were apologetic and friendly, and when I asked if they could hurry it along a bit, they did so and the food appeared. We were also given our meal on the house, which was a really nice touch, as they didn't have to do that. Once the food arrived, all I can say is - oh my word that burger was gorgeous and the chips were divine. My friend was impressed with her steak and it was a decent sized portion too. she had a peppercorn sauce, which I tasted on a chip, and really liked it. I highly recommend the food. As we were leaving, our waiter came over and said he was organising us some salted caramel chocolates to take away with us as we didn't have time for dessert. I thought that was a really nice touch and we left with a smile on our faces - if a bit hurried at having to get back to work (luckily not too far away). I felt a bit embarrassed as I managed to rip the coat ticket. It's an old railway ticket which I'm sure must be worth a bit to railway collectors and I apologised profusely. If anyone was going to do something like that, it would be me. I definitely will be back. The cocktails looked awesome and I'd really like to come in the evening when I can have full three courses with wine and cocktails. I'd also like to come for after work drinks to the bar. I think people should come and give it a go. I have moaned about a the wait, but I think that really is a teething issue and I've been to many restaurants at lunchtime where they have barely apologised for the wait let alone given us a free lunch. Oh and the chocolates were absolutely heavenly with my mid-afternoon cup of tea.

Yelp
Came here last week with a group of friends/fellow Yelpers and had a really good evening. We booked the table ages ago and was one of the 1000s who apparently had sent emails to try and get a table during their soft launch. I was really looking forward to it as I had heard good things about Hawksmoor - and also it was great that it was 50% off food!! I arrived at the restaurant and we waited in the bar area until everyone arrived. I ordered a cocktail but it was a long-ish wait - was OK though as when it was ready, they just brought it to the table. We all sat down and had a look at the menu. It all sounded delicious. We were told right at the start that they had no more fillets left - but if someone wanted fillet, they suggested either going for the Porterhouse or the T-Bone - which is basically a cut with some fillet and some sirloin. This was all no problem for me as my favourite cut (and what I went for) was the rib eye. If cooked well its still tender but its got the best flavour with the marbling i.e. fat. (Fat equals flavour). Since it was 50% off the food, we all went for starters, various sides and desserts (more of that later). For starter, I went for the potted Brixton crab. I was kind of expecting actual crab in some sort of pot but it was basically a crab pate with the toasted bread. It was really nice though. Maybe some descriptions on the menu would have helped. For main, as mentioned before, I went for the rib eye. When the steak arrived, it was literally just the steak on a plate. I was kind of expecting it maybe to have some garnish of some sort, to look a bit "prettier". But I know this is typically what they do for "steak restaurants". The actual steak had good flavour but I would have liked a bit more marbling/fat and I found it a bit too salty. (Although that is a common comment I make as I don't tend to add much salt to things). I ate most of it but I was just so full after the starter and the sides etc. I also got it with bone marrow and a couple sides - triple cooked chips and buttered greens. I had never tried bone marrow before but had heard its good and seen in some recipes how its added to things like a good beef burger. Unfortunately it was not really my cup of tea but its just a personal thing. It wasn't wasted though as someone else had the rest of what I didn't eat. The triple cooked chips were nice - crunchy. The buttered greens were OK. On to dessert and I went for the honeycomb sundae. I do like honeycomb and the vanilla ice cream part was really good. Personally I am not a huge chocolate fan so I didn't really eat the chocolate ice cream. The sundae also came with a small jug of hot chocolate sauce which you can pour over the sundae. After dessert, I had another cocktail. One from the "after dinner digestifs". It was called Zenith of Man. It was OK but a bit too minty for me. Usually when commenting on service, its either a straight forward good or bad but this was kind of both. It didn't go 100% smooth with things like the drinks taking quite a while and a bit of confusion with who had what. However, they were aware of this, and took something off the menu. The staff throughout the evening were committed to making sure we had a great evening. I would recommend Hawksmoor for a special occassion. Depending what you have it can be pretty pricey. (They do have an express menu which is 2 courses for £24, 3 courses for £27 and between 1200-1500 and 1700-1830. Of course not everything is on the express menu. Also there is a lunch special of rump and chips for £15). Just one final comment. The lighting was a bit dark. Inside the restaurant/bar was OK for creating an relaxed, sort of intimate atmosphere and wasn't too dark that you couldn't see what you were eating but maybe could have been a tiny bit brighter. However, my main point about the lighting was when going to the toilet which was going down stairs and especially since it was not 100% clear you had to go down the stairs. I mentioned this to someone else a few days later and she agreed - so its not just me.

Yelp
Looking for somewhere special to celebrate the other half's birthday, I couldn't resist the pull of Hawksmoor. It's a little bit luxurious with a whole lot of meat - what's not to love? We were greeted warmly at the front desk (somewhat surprising considering we were a little bit damp from our walk thanks to the Manchester weather) and, despite the large group booking in front of us, were taken upstairs to hang our coats and be seated. The decor is lovely, with plenty of dark wood and low level lighting, so the perfect intimate setting for us. We decided to order a glass of prosecco while we looked over the menu, which was promptly bought over by our lovely waiter. The menu is something a little bit special to be honest; a range of starters, steaks and mains, all of which sound equally delicious. We opted for the Ginger Pig belly ribs to start, then a steak each - I had rump with the peppercorn sauce - plus some dripping fries, shortrib macaroni, and spinach with lemon & garlic. The ribs lasted mere moments and were perfectly tender, not overpowered with sauce. Our mains were equally excellent; my rump was cooked medium rare and, although at first the outer edges made me worry what the inside would hold, it was the right shade for me. The peppercorn sauce was a slight disappointment as it didn't have the boldness of other sauces we've had before, though it worked as a dip for the fries. Now, the sides - they're something to write home about. The shortrib macaroni was a huge highlight of the meal and honestly something I could devour on a daily basis. The meat was tender and balanced the sharpness of the melted cheese. Although salty, this was balanced by the iron in the spinach, and the lovely lemon & garlic dressing. Although my food baby was well and truly apparent by the end of the meal, I couldn't resist ordering some of the 'tributes' to take home for later in the evening. These little salted caramel morsels are very rich but I'm glad we managed to try them; they prove that Hawksmoor haven't forgotten the art of a good dessert. It was the perfect birthday meal and I would love to say we would be back in an instant, but I'm not sure my purse would thank me!

Yelp
Had an amazing experience here this week! We were early so started off with a cocktail and bar snack - the nuggets are bloody brilliant. Bang on time we were seated and our waitress was so lovely, the red wine was amazing (it was so hard to choose from the list too - although the next time I find myself with a spare £2,500 lying around I know where I'm going) Meal itself was just incredible - can highly recommend the ribs, scallops and rib eye and I won't hesitate to come back! They even bought out birthday truffles for my Boyfriend at the end of the night - he was suitably embarrassed so I was delighted ha!

Yelp
Treated to this by my girlfriend for my birthday (if you've read my other reviews you'll realise I was spoiled for my birthday this year). Just sublime, from start to finish. Arrived early, and we were sat down in the bar area, with a really friendly, chatty waitress. When we were sat (on time) in a great corner table with a view across the whole restaurant (secret people watcher). I can't begin to describe the food well enough. Best steak I've had in a long long time, possibly ever. The red wine was beautiful, even though we didn't choose the £2500 bottle at the head of the wine list. It's on the expensive side, but is completely worth it.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I visited during the soft launch and therefore food was 50% off. I also did not pay for everything I ate and drank on the night. Everyone at Hawksmoor was super friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in the door. We were seated in the bar and I chose a Sinking Spritz from the (long and overpriced by MCR standards) cocktail menu. This was bitter, sweet and delicious - really enjoyable. Once all our party arrived we moved onto our table. It is dark in the restaurant. I appreciate that dining in low light is A Thing but I'm not totally into it. This didn't bother me hugely though. First up our waiter let us know that there was no fillet steak. I was pretty gutted though he apologised profusely. There was, however, fillet steak tartare which made me a bit happier. Natalie W and I shared steak tartare and the ribs for starters. I would recommend both of these. Steak tartare was everything I wanted it to be and the meat on the ribs just fell away from the bone. The unexpected star of the show was the salad that came with the ribs. So bloody good! On the suggestion of the waiter we opted for a porterhouse for our steak, paired with half a lobster, dripping fries, spinach with lemon and garlic, and two types of Hollandaise - anchovy and Stilton. Everything was great. I wouldn't necessarily order a porterhouse again if there was something else on the menu, but it was nice to try something different and also to have different textures in your steak. This was actually the first time I'd tried lobster (just a small town girl...) and it was really tasty. The fries were exceptional. I'm very big on my fries and these were like McDonald's fries that had been fried by angels. Dipping a fry into either of the Hollandaise sauces was simply divine. Yes, I am rhapsodising about the chips. No shame here. For dessert I ate a few salted caramel Rolos - really delicious, though not even remotely like a Rolo. I also snaffled a few of the rhubarb doughnuts which were served with warm custard. They are definitely what I'll order on my next visit. Finally I indulged with an espresso martini which was very good but not the best I've had. Overall I was very pleased with my meal at Hawksmoor. The staff apologised for the service not being totally up to standard but I'm pretty lackadaisical about service so I can't really complain. I'm excited for my next visit.

Yelp
19.95 for a beef roast. 2 roasties huge Yorkshire puddings lots of carrots and green cabbage. Bone marrow gravy . Very generous portion. We then shared the peanut butter salted caramel shortbread (AMAZING) the sticky toffee pudding and the giant Ferrero Rocher. The most amazing desserts would go back for them!!! C

Yelp
Been here a few times now and yet to be disappointed by the service, food or atmosphere. Top notch stuff again today, although the £11.50 [small] glass of Sauvignon Blanc kinda hurt. For that reason alone, 4*!

Yelp
I'm going to start by admitting that I didn't have a steak, and they do look great from the other pics. They also comped us some sides after we dallied deciding which to have, and on top of that the service was generally excellent. We were also recommended a full bodied Portuguese red (Casa da Passarella - Reserva Abanico Tinto 2012) which was heartily enjoyed by all. So why 3 stars? To me the prices reflect the branding and ambiance more than the food. We had three Sunday roasts (rump steak with yorkshires etc in this case) and a burger. Sides we had cauliflower cheese, spinach with lemon and fries. The shallots and roast garlic in the Sunday roasts were enjoyed (I didn't taste) and two of the three rumps were great rump steaks, the third needed some elbow grease. The yorkshires, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese were underwhelming. The fries fine but one portion outlasted four of us - very unusual and perhaps telling. The spinach was good. The burger was pleasantly peppery and held together very well. It was a good burger. Bill was £126 + tip. Maybe it's 3.5 stars and one day I'll return to see if the steaks are worth four.

Yelp
Hawksmoor Manchester is an absolute delight. I highly recommend ordering the shortrib macaroni, and an off-the-menu fruity cocktail my friend had. I found the D-rump steak very tender, although I struggled to finish it! And as for the dessert, everyone needs to try the amazing Ambassador's Reception - so yummy, I wish I had had it all to myself! The best bit, however, was the service exhibited by the wait staff. One guy in particular was really friendly and patiently explained the menu to us, and made his personal recommendations. We had a bit of trouble with the bill, as we were supposed to get drinks off, and when the new bill came, they had charged us less. When we alerted him to it, he apologised for the mistakes and allowed us to pay the lesser amount! I'd give this place 5 stars, but the hosts at the front of the restaurant misplaced my friend's coat and we spent 10 minutes looking for it. It turns out that they had placed it on a hanger, the number of which did not correspond to the token my friend had been given. Other than that, I really liked this place for its food and drinks!

Yelp
Had a meal here a few weeks ago -- thought the cocktails were excellent if a bit slow to arrive, however my ribeye was underwhelming, and a friends fillet woeful. Heads up on return visit -- dramatically improved but still lacking that final bit of magic to justify their prices --- will definitely return though

Yelp
Food was good but not exceptional. I had monkfish which was amazing but the steaks were not the best in town. Wine was good without being outstanding. Service was very helpful and friendly and an absolute joy to deal with. This is a really nice place and I would recommend it but maybe I am being picky and it could do better.

Yelp
Best beef house of Manchester! We were there with big crowd! Everybody enjoyed. Sausages are great.

Yelp
Second visit here, always an enjoyable meal but some room for improvement. Thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails, food was good and staff very friendly. Unfortunately, on both visits our orders were missing dishes which we were not informed had run out, and on the last visit we were also charged for it. Aside from this, it was an enjoyable experience and can recommend the shortrib macaroni.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday treat. Superb dimly lit bar with good selection of beers and wines. We then moved into the dining area which was bright and airy. Scallops starter in a sauce I have never had before: top class. Steak and chips and served with bone marrow sauce. Great glass of red with it. My wife and son loved their food and we agreed. Wow: this some place: recommended by a friend and glad they did. Will be back soon.

Yelp
Cocktails and beer great, supporting the local brewery, meat amazing. Service letting it down; orders wrong, ran out of food and still charging us for it ( this happened to both tables next to us too) staff friendly tho.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Everything about it is perfection! I plan to try everything on their menu... so far, I have had the scollops, which were delightful, creamy and rich. The hake was splendid, so if you're a fish lover, i urge you to try it. The steaks was fantastic, and always so perfectly done. I mean it is a steakhouse for a reason. Lobster was amazingly juicy and fresh. It tasted like it was freshly caught that morning. The crab salad is divine and tasted heavenly. Desert was also so nice and well presented. The staff was so helpful and splendid throughout the night. I really love this place!

Yelp
Went here for the first time today and will definitely be going back. Food and service was incredible. The waiter was very friendly and helpful in choosing the right dishes. Yes it is pricey but you get what you pay for. 10 out of 10. Thanks for a great evening, very enjoyable experience.

Yelp
5! SOLID 5! Can't be beaten, service, vibe, food and price. Special shout out to Marina for first class service, thank you

Yelp
The steak was good. Well cooked to your liking. However.... the wait was too long. It was a Wednesday night and our reservation was for 2030hrs. We arrived on time and we were seated at the bar area for half an hour as they were preparing our table. We finally got seated at the table around 2100hrs. It was very loud in the actual restaurant. We skipped starters and went straight for the main as we were starving by this point! We didn't start eating until just before 2200hrs. When the steak arrived it was delicious and well cooked. We ordered the Ambassador's Reception for dessert which is basically like a giant Ferrero Rocher. The quality of the food was good and it was very tasty. HOWEVER, I would not return here as I could get better and faster service in other steakhouses in Manchester for the same price. That being said, the waitress was very pleasant and very nice. The steak was good.. though I am not sure whether I was just really starving by the point I had it. If you don't mind the long wait then go for it.

Yelp
After hearing so many good reviews about Hawksmoor Manchester I just had to go and try it for myself. I can honestly say that it was far better than I could have imagined. I managed to book a table for the 5 of us for 21:30 on Friday night. From the moment we entered the staff were a combination of happy, polite, and attentive and made the night really enjoyable and relaxed. The food was fantastic / perfect. I went for: Starter - Smoked Salmon and Soda Bread = light, delicate, flavoursome. Although I have to admit I was a little jealous of my brothers Potted beef and Yorkshires. Main - Fillet Steak = an absolute must (£34). This best was steak I have ever had in my life (and trust me I do not skimp on steak), no sauce just a little bit of Dijon mustard. I had this with the butter leaf salad which was perfect on it's own (the vinaigrette was so light it just added the right amount of flavour. No dessert; I was just too full. Note to self; no starter next time; need to try the desserts. Finished the meal of with the most amazing Old Fashioned I have ever had (this is the drink I used to measure the standard of cocktail bars; so finding this here was simple astonishing - The Full Fat Old Fashioned created with butter infused bourbon was magnificent (I will visiting the bar on regular basis just for this). The bill split between the 5 of us came to £75 and was cheap for the night we had. 5 Stars; I can not recommend it highly enough.
