"Sure, you can get a great meal at Hawksmoor, the Manchester location of the London-original steakhouse, but we love the Spinningfields spot for a pre-dinner drink in its library-like bar. It feels like a members’ club without the annual fee. Unlike the restaurant, for which you need to snag a reservation, the bar—all dark wood, comfy black leather stools, and frosted windows—is almost never crowded. Their Shaky Pete is the holy trinity of slushy, shandy, and ginger beer that we didn’t know we needed." - Becky Cooper
