Highlights

Heidrun Meadery produces brut dry, naturally sparkling varietal meads (wine made from honey) using the traditional Méthode Champenoise. In addition to our mead production, we also have a beekeeping operation on-site and a horticulture program that focuses on bee forage. Our greenhouse tasting room sits on our 16-acre property and doubles as an organic nursery where we sell bee-friendly plant starts. Come visit a place like no other!

"Heidrun Meadery might inspire you to give up your nine-to-five and take up beekeeping—they’re making floral and citrusy sparkling mead on a farm in Point Reyes Station. Here, plenty of picnic tables overlook a picturesque canyon and a flower field adds to the pastoral setting. You can do the $25 mead tasting or a $45 meadery tour (Saturdays only), but we like to order mead by the glass at the bar in the barn and drink next to the gigantic curly willow with whatever snacks we brought along." - Lani Conway

"Well aware that a fermented beverage made from honey and wild yeast fell out of favor in the 5th century when fermented grain (a.k.a beer) took off, former brewmaster Gordon Hull set to tinkering with mead, looking for ways to make it less sweet. At his pastoral, greenhouse-adjacent tasting room fringed by 16 acres of forage favored by local bees, Hull crafts meads a la methode champenoise that are perfect for a BYO picnic at one of the tables on the grounds. Madras Carrot Blossom is downright earthy, akin to a Belgian saison, while Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Blossom is rich and full-bodied, an able partner for dishes like smoked duck" - Christina Mueller

"Derived from fermented honey (they have their own hives on-site), Heidrun’s champagne-style mead is delicate in flavor. If you’re the one manning the wheel on this road trip, grab a bottle to take home or sip a glass of their lower-BAV mead; others should take advantage of a tasting and explore they range they offer."

Wonderful Visit to Heidrun Meadery! Yesterday, we visited Heidrun Meadery with our kids, and it was a wonderful experience. It was fascinating to sample different types of honey and learn more about the mead-making process. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the kids had a great time as well. It’s truly an excellent place for families to enjoy while discovering something unique. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it to others! Thank you for the great experience!

This is our second visit trying different flight of tastings. They sure have unique collection and we were told they were the only one in the US that does the champagne method, and with honey- which i think pretty cool! Tasting flight is $25, and can be waived if you purchase 3 bottles. We also tried their honey tasting flight- & they are really lovely honey! Nice & friendly folks too, great ground as well. It was pouring when we were there so unable to sit outside. Great collection of souvenirs /things. Highly recommend to take friends/family here 🍯🥂

If you're making a day trip out of Point Reyes National Preserve, I would recommend stopping by Heidrun Meadery on the way back! The property is welcoming and the atmosphere is very laid back. There's a ton of natural light and open air tables which gives the feeling of more space. My parter tried the both the Essential and the Seasonal tasting, with favorites being the Hawaiian Macadamia Nut and Oregon Raddish Blossom. Overall, it was a great place to kick back and relax after a long hike. If you found my review helpful, please follow my local guide profile to see my experiences with other destinations!

Google
This is a disappointing review to write, as I’ve truly enjoyed this place in the past. The mead is excellent, and the location offers beautiful views! I’ve visited four times before and always left with a few bottles. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a major letdown. The woman who served us was snappy and unwelcoming, which made the experience uncomfortable for my partner & I. It felt like we were a bother rather than guests. After such a negative interaction, we've decided not to return again. 5 stars for the mead, 1 star for customer service.

A must visit in Point Reyes. Their delicious mead is so delicate and refreshing with subtle notes and exotic flavors. I’ve driven by Heidrun many times and am so thankful I finally stopped by. Olivia was so warm and welcoming and their tasting room is cozy and chock full of so many wonderful gifts and treasures. A tranquil stop on your next drive to the coast. Cheers! 🐝 🍯 🥂

Google
Amazing place!!! First off, it's located in beautiful farm country just outside of Point Reyes Station in West Marin. And second, the wine is delicious. If you're uneasy about mead or other sweet wines, the wines aren't as sweet as you would think. At Heidrun, it's done in the sparkling 'brut' style, so it's dryer. And each wine they have is made with honey from a single floral source. One will be from orange blossom, another from wild carrot, Hawaiian macadamia, etc. It's incredible the vast differences in flavor depending on which flower the honey came from. A few quick things about the Meadery itself. You can bring your own food. They do have snack boxes that they sell, but it's probably cheaper to bring your own food. Also, cell reception is pretty poor around the area. It's a great place to visit just on its own, but its proximity to Point Reyes and many local cheese makers creates many possibilities if you want to enjoy a full day in the area.

Google
This was our second visit & it served as a reminder how wonderful the Heidrun Meadery is! The meads, made in the champagne method, are a diverse delight. From the California Orange Blossom, which is like a mimosa sans OJ, to the many other flavors, these sparkling meads can be paired with brunch, sushi, salmon and even BBQ! The tasting experience is magical with the flora and fauna around the grounds that attracts the birds & the bees. So on point with the nature sustainability that their product is all about. Stop here, smell the flowers, enjoy the tasting, get some to take home & don’t forget to get some honey too! I regret not remembering the name of the general manager who was a wonderful and informative host!

Google
What a pretty place to visit. I highly recommend bringing a picnic and hanging out under their beautiful tree. When we were there cute little caterpillars were falling from the tree. I think the tastings are over priced and the meads are so funky they almost taste like beer, which Mead does not necessarily need to taste like. There were only one or two that were a little more honey forward and more like a champagne. We probably will not be back due to cost and their method of meads preparation. I still think it's worth going because it's really pretty and filled with bees and flowers.

Yelp
My friend and I thought we would do a girls afternoon in Marin but everything closed by 4! Heidrun was thankfully open until 5 and was everything we wanted and more. The meads were light and bright. I felt that they were overall very floral on the nose, citrus on the tongue and with varying aftertastes. Sometimes they tasted a little bit like beer! My favorite was the California orange blossom, which happens to be their best seller. I feel that this is a great place to take seasoned wine drinkers as it's so different, but also newbies. Their meads are made with a traditional French method using honey instead of grapes. They cultivate a beautiful wildflower (or maybe just flowers?) garden so their honey bee colonies can thrive. Their honey bees are hard at work making so many varietals for honey and mead! I was blown away by their garden, which was everything. Gorgeous inside and out. Idyllic, picturesque, rustic - such a vibe. Everyone was so nice there and I really enjoyed my time there! I was so thankful about the explanations, kindness and patience given to us. Definitely coming back with more friends to share this amazing spot and to try the honey tasting flight!

Yelp
I don't think I can do this place justice. First taste was of the seasonal Hawaiian Christmas Berry and I was HOOKED! My thought was, "I don't think I'll ever buy another bottle of champagne again!". This mead has so much more going for it between the beauty of being honey fermented wine, the botanical nature of them from the flowers, and the Champagne style Methode. Of course I then wanted to try all of them which isn't quite possible on one trip so I've come back and will come back again! My faves so far are the above, the Oregon Pumpkin Blossom, California Orange Blossom and the Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Blossom. But hey, buy me any one of the bottles and I'll be happy. I think it was the Dakota Chokecherry that may have had a slight clove taste - whichever it was, that was my least favorite. The "Mead Angels" (my name for them) were wonderful - tip them well. It's a low key, more rustic and relaxed alternative to wine tasting with beautiful grounds. Bring a picnic. They have honey tastings and also some cheese boxes but not always available.

Yelp
My husband loves mead, ADORES IT. And when we moved to the Bay Area, he was devastated to find that there are no mead in the liquor stores! Like what's up with that Bay Area folks? Up your taste buds. I'm just kidding, we don't have refined taste buds at all but when I searched high and low over Yelp and Google for the nearest Meadery so I can get my man his drink of choice, Heidrun was the only one that popped up. Now it may be 2 hrs away, but by god I will do what it takes to make him happy. So I booked a meadery tasting. Not just the regular tasting but an actual tour of the meadery including behind the scenes of the different honeys and casks and machinery used in the process. It was so cool! I don't even drink alcohol but I found the tour to be very worth it. I mean I did drink a little, but I had to ask our tour guide specifically to pour me just a drop of the 4 different meads we had. But my favorite part was actually where we were able to taste the radish honey. Who knew radishes also produced honey? Of course they do, how else do they get pollinated? But it still was a huge shock to all of us on the tour. I ended up purchasing their honey instead. Yes their mead is the one mead in the entire world that is made using the champagne progress. It's dry, it's crisp and refreshing and very wine like. Even though we preferred the traditional mead that is more sweet and almost thicker, we could appreciate the care, knowledge, and quality of this craft. So weather you're a mead fan or a wine fan, go ahead and book that tour because this was such a cool and unique experience unlike any other.

Jessyca O.

Yelp
I had no idea what Meade was before this stop... so thankful I read the reviews! It's such a darling location. If you can, definitely take the tour. We both did a tasting. I did basic one, and my friend did the next level one, we shared. Flavors were fantastic! Orange blossom is great! We bought quite a few bottles. We stopped up the street at the creamery to grab a box of meat and cheeses, unbeknownst to us, they had the same boxes there! Great pairings! My only complaint would be there were quite a few people doing tastings and there was one person pouring. This was on a Friday, so it was a little quieter but had there been more people pouring, the experience would've gone smoother and been more enjoyable! But I still would highly recommend!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely venue in Pt Reyes hidden just a few minutes from downtown. They make their own mead - honey wine - and, of course, their own honey. Prices are unfortunately extremely steep, which is to be expected given the location and the clientele. They have high-end events and are often closed for private dinners. They also have occasional beekeeping classes, which we haven't yet tried. Worth it to go on a weekend for a mead tasting. You can also bring your own picnic and sit in their green backyard, but fair warning, you can only get a table during the week - weekends are packed.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
It was rainy and cold when we went so didn't look around outside much. Tried a honey tasting and the honey has solidified it was so cold. I wasn't expecting to be able to taste much difference in the honey but you can! And it's pretty fun! And you can share a tasting so $30 is an ok price!

Sara Z.

Yelp
There aren't too many meaderies in the Bay Area, but Heidrun still stands out for both its meads and its location. The space is beautifully designed and earthy with a lot of outside seating. We did the seasonal and the standard tasting, each coming with 4 different meads to try. If you are familiar with mead, these meads are different - bubbly and not too sweet, but with great flavor from the honey. My favorites were the orange blossom and meadowfoam meads, they were both very unique and well-made. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable.

Jenna S.

Yelp
Round 2 with new friends - we did the honey tasting! Highly recommend doing a DIY picnic with crackers, cheese, and fruit brought from home or purchased downtown. My friends and I had so much fun figuring out with cheese to pair with which honey, and there was enough honey left in the 5 small pots for each of us to take home a souvenir or two. I actually preferred splitting the honey tasting with friends and choosing a glass of mead to consume (with recommendations from staff) rather than doing a full mead tasting. A perfect end to a short day trip from the bay!

Yelp
Travelling to California, I don't generally think too much about mead or other wines that aren't grape based. Yet, here, a stone's throw from the heart of Napa Valley, you'll find this beautiful meadery. The property itself is gorgeous, and one of the nicer "winery" type places we'd visited. A small tasting room is nestled inside of the gardens -- though be sure to get a chance to go behind the main tasting room, and check out the ample seating, large picnic tables, and amazing trees there. Inside, you can do a couple of different flights, depending on what's available. My fiancee and I split one each of the two types, a California one and an Exotic one. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, knowing the different flavour profiles produced by the various honeys, and a bit of history on each one. Heidrun's meads are a little bit different than what I'm accustomed to -- they're all bubbly, and extraordinarily dry. Typically, with mead, I correlate "dry' with "flavourless," but despite being dry, Heidrun's still have a strong taste to them. If you're looking for something a little different than your typical California Napa Valley experience, be sure to stop by and give honey wine a try!

Lillian T.

Yelp
This place is absolutely outstanding. I've never had mead before, and the folks at Heidrun Meadery were so welcoming and knowledgable. I tried their essential tasting flight for $25, and it was excellent. The meads had such a variety of flavors from the different honey sources, with some being like a smooth, sweet champagne and others more tangy and herbaceous. However, they all had that lovely honey scent that made every one so pleasant. The outdoor area, with its lovely garden and beautiful view of the trees, is such a calming and gorgeous place to spend a couple of hours chatting with friends and sampling meads. I've seen that they have special events as well where you can visit their hives, and I would love to come back for that. Overall, a top notch experience. Don't miss it on your trip to Point Reyes!

Emily Z.

Yelp
Must stop spot on your trip to Point Reyes! It's a really fun and cute spot to hang out and try the different meads they have available! There are two different flights to try, but we opted for the essential flight. There were four pours, and you make your way back to the counter after you're done with each pour. This meadery was really fun to try!! Each pour tasted like a light beer/champagne, really different than the meads I've had before that were sweet and syrupy. Each of the wines we tasted had a strong smell of honey and the slightest hint of honey taste. My favorites were the Oregon pumpkin blossom and the Oregon meadowfoam blossom because they were absolutely delicious and had the most unique flavor profile. When you visit, be sure to bring some snacks to munch on while you're drinking. They do offer some crackers, honeys, and tapenades for purchase as well. There is seating available indoors and outdoors. Heaters are turned on in the greenhouse, and blankets are available for use! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They answered all our questions about meads and the meadery itself, as well as thoroughly explained the different meads we were trying. Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
my friends and i randomly stopped by after our hike near Point Reyes and it was truly such a fun detour before we went and got food! not only were the staff super friendly, knowledgable, and welcoming the location itself was just so fun to be at. the way everything had blossomed made this spot so beautiful. id highly recommend touring around the facility to enjoy the scenery while doing one of their tastings! my personal favorite had got to be the California orange blossom. On my way out I actually bought the same flavored-based honey which I love and my family really enjoyed too! the drinks itself are perfect for a warm summer day and truly the visit we has been one of my favorite memories this summer. if you're in the area or want to try something new and fun then make sure to stop by heidrun meadery!! tips: - there's lots of bees around but they're very gentle and friendly - a small parking lot available - lots of fun small souvenirs and items with honey-based products available (which are so delicious and worth buying!) - the mead was so fresh and light which is perfect for a lot of occasions - you can do a bee-keeping experience too!! check out more on their website!!

Yelp
We made the most of our afternoon visit and tasting at this local Meadery. They're conveniently located up the road from Point Reyes Creamery do we picked up a snack box to accompany our mead. The staff was very friendly and eager to tell us more about the farm, ingredients and mead. These are exceptional, dry bubbly meads. We enjoyed how different each type was from one to the next and being the sucker for orange blossoms that I am, that flavor was the star of the show for me. The tasting room is located in an earthy greenhouse filled with plants and fun bee/honey related gifts and treats. The property features a variety of bee-friendly plants and an overall relaxing vibe. This spot felt a little more down to earth than some of the wineries we visited. Highly recommend this spot (and pairing it with some neighboring Point Reyes cheese ).

Yelp
We have been members for years now and we just love it! The whole vibe is awesome and we love the Mead! Everyone we bring their either by some or joins the club or both

Yelp
Heidrun is the perfect stop on your Tomales Bay/Point Reyes itinerary! We were coming back from Marshall and driving though Point Reyes Station and decided to stop by. It has its own parking lot, so parking is easy. I've never been to a meadery before or ever seen one so I was excited to try it. If you've never had mead it's a honey-based drink with some carbonation. Flights are $25 and come with 4 different pours. Some taste more like sparkling wine or champagne and others more like a light, sweet beer - everything is carbonated. If you buy 3 bottles, they waive your tasting fee, so we decided to buy 3 to take home. They don't serve food here, but you can buy some crackers and cheese inside the shop if you get hungry, or even better, just bring your own food/ picnic, which they allow. There's a cool tree cave you can sit under and lots of picnic tables around as well. Bonus - it's dog-friendly! Lots of dogs were here, so maybe we'll bring our pup next time.

Janice T.

Yelp
Heidrun Meadery made all my she-shed dreams come true! Step inside a shabby-chic greenhouse barn that's been turned into the meadery's main tasting room. There you'll find dried lavender bunches hanging from the rafters, a display table filled with golden honey in adorable little jars and a colorful array of tiny bud vases beckoning for a carnation or two. Wander over to the counter and request a tasting flight for $25, which will buy you sample pours of four different meads. Note that you'll have to come back to the counter for each pour. My favorites were the macadamia nut and the carrot. Both tasted like refreshing beers on a warm day. Walk the beautiful grounds or grab a nice table outdoors (there are a few seats indoors too). You're allowed to bring a picnic so go ahead and bring a nice lunch or snack to pair with your tasting.

Brian C.

Yelp
A wonderful place to spend an afternoon! Heidrun makes sparkling mead (honey wine) that's similar to champagne -- it derives its different flavors from the types of flowers that the bees pollinate. Tastings are informative and delicious, and the location is super chill -- great place for both locals and tourists!

Lily C.

Yelp
This was my first time trying out meads and I actually like this more than champagne! There's a few tasting selections - we tried the essential and the word mead tasting. Would definitely come back to get a bottle of the Ethiopian Geteme

Selina L.

Yelp
I love everything about this place! The gardens are beautifully groomed and calming. There are many picnic tables for visitors to enjoy. We did 2 tastings and then bought 3 bottles to take home. I really like the orange blossom mead, if you like sparkling fruity sweet wines you would probably enjoy this one too. My husband liked the carrot blossom mead, which taste like a bubbly beer. We brought our own food for picnicking and it was such a nice and relaxing afternoon spent with family and friends. The ladies working at the meadery were very friendly. One lady came over with honey sticks for the kids. The entire meadery is beautifully decorated. I love all the vases with fresh flowers all over the property. If only I lived closer to here, I'd come more often!

Dan D.

Yelp
Truly one-of-a-kind, Heidrun Meadery delivers exceptional sparkling champagne-like spirits that I've never found an equal or substitute for. Over the past ten years, I've been to Heidrun two or three times. It's not just worth a stop if you're already on Highway 1 - it might be a reason to drive on Highway 1 by itself. This bees' sanctuary, on an isolated stretch of windy road, is a sunsoaked, tranquil environment wherein you'll sample locally crafted meads that you'll be inspired to find ways to bring home with you. On my most recent visit, I was glad to see that the old quality has been maintained. The tasting flights are reasonably priced at $20, and like most places, the cost is waived if you purchase some bottles of what you've tasted. Effervescent, a bit sweet, and smacking of locally cultivated honeys (as well as some imported varieties), you'll never get the same thing twice, just like the best wines vary from year to year. Luckily it has Wi-Fi on-site, because my T-Mobile service had zero bars while I was there. Make sure to plot your next destination on your phone before leaving the Wi-Fi!

Yelp
We are huge fans of Rabbit's Foot Meadery in Sunnyvale and they recommended that we check out Heidrun. We have been sitting on this recommendation for over a year during the pandemic because it's so freaking far, but we finally had the opportunity to make a pit stop on our way up to Santa Rosa. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- If you are a fan of champagne, you'll love the dry bubbly mead they serve here. The flight came with 4 different meads to sample and we couldn't resist adding on other pours they had available. Our favorite was actually the one they "messed up" on and had available at discount...probably because it was sweeter and we have heathen children taste buds. 1/1 Stars for Value -- It was about $20 for a taster of 4 different meads. If you're coming with a larger group, you can even just order full bottles (average $30) and they'll put them on ice for y'all to share. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- We loved the set up here! We ordered the tasters at the front and were handed our flutes. Then, we meandered out to the beautiful garden and set up our BYO picnic. At our own pace, we could wander over to the pouring station where the server would explain each mead to us before topping us off. It's clear everyone here is very knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. There was plenty of seating and no one rushed us. There was a hilarious golden retriever(I believe it was the owner's) who would run around and steal food/dog toys while various employees ran after it in despair. An amazing experience and perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday. We picked up oysters from Tomales Bay and had a mini-picnic while sipping on fragrant bubbly. Would highly recommend! Be careful though, we may have accidentally spent $100+ here because we couldn't resist walking away with a bit more mead than anticipated...

Don K.

Yelp
Norse mythology anyone? Heidrun is Odin's goat who produced mead rather than milk. What a cool goat to have! But if you're into the traditional mead, this may not be the place for you. These folks use methode champenoise to produce their sparkling mead, resulting in a very dry product; think dry champagne. Honey are sourced from Hawaii, Oregon and California for their various meads. I went for their preset flight of 4 meads and was delighted at how different each one of them were. All very bubbly, each had their unique scents that belie the complicated flavor profiles. After a long hike in the Point Reyes National Seashore, the cold dry meads really hit the spot. Found out a bit late that there was also a chocolate pairing tasting. Bummer. This place has a laid back vibe serving high end products. Loved it!

Tiffany L.

Yelp
First time trying mead, I didn't know what to expect but this place exceeded my expectations! It's a quaint area, lovely views, and a cute little shop that also sells honey. Parking was a little difficult to find in the meadery but managed to park outside of it on the side of the road. Had a reservation around 3 and sat down immediately! Service was good, but I kind of wish someone had explained to us a bit about the mead we were going to taste. Ordered 2 bottles and then a got a complimentary tasting. It was pretty busy, so we couldn't find someone to assist us with our next bottle purchase but managed to find them in the tje wooden shed where they sell their bottles & honey. We brought our own crackers, cheese, and salami to pair with our drinks. Overall was a good experience, likely to come back. Ended up purchasing a bottle of California Orange Blossom and Hawaiian Lehua Blossom.

Yelp
Way to ruin a visit. My husband and I decided to take my parents for a tasting last weekend during their first to the Bay, and we will NEVER go back. When we arrived there was only one person pouring which meant we had to wait longer than expected to be served. We weren't in a rush so no big deal. Once we did get started we enjoyed the experience and so we decided to sit down to finish our glasses. As we were getting ready to leave, we noticed a small area where you could purchase gifts and other things. My parents and I decided to browse while my husband stayed with our dog at the table. We got into line to pay and my dog started to whine with separation anxiety. By then a second person had finally come in to help manage the growing line of people. While we were waiting to pay my dog barked twice for my attention. I get that it can affect the ambiance to have loud noises, but this place is outside and not 5 minutes earlier there were children running around screaming so we didn't think anything of a bark. Regardless, what happened next was so entirely rude that it was completely unacceptable. After the second bark the woman behind the counter looks at my husband and says "excuse me, can you remove your dog. We only allow well behaved dogs here and on our property." The judgement was so over the top that we put everything we had planned to purchase back and just closed our original tab so we could get out of there. It completely impacted that experience my parents had during their visit, and it was just unnecessary. We've taken our dog to both Napa and Sonoma with no issues. If you are going to allow animals on property at all, I don't think it's unreasonable to accept some level of noise might come with it. I would have understood this so much more if the dog had been aggressive toward another dog or person, but that wasn't the case here.

CM R.

Yelp
Very rude customer service if you're not sitting down for a flight. Girl was not helpful and talking down to me

Sarah P.

Yelp
A delightful stop after a day at Point Reyes. You can sip your mead flight in the charmingly shabby chic greenhouse turned tasting room, at a table under the curly willow, or further afield amidst the wildflowers. My only prior experience with mead was many moons ago when I tried a syrupy sweet version at a Renaissance Faire. Heidrun makes a much more refined wine that tastes like a beautiful meeting of champagne and ale. We enjoyed it so much that we took home a bottle of the macadamia nut. Our pourer was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable as she offered us tasting notes for each wine. A wonderful way to spend an hour or two when you find yourself in West Marin.

Giselle S.

Yelp
For starters the location is beautiful, very relaxing and so many tables to sit & sip, you can sit inside, under a willow tree, between the olive trees, or walk around the garden & sip. You can also bring your own lunch/snacks to enjoy a nice picnic. Their mead are all sparkling and dry, which was perfect in balancing the sweetness of the honey. You can choose to do a pre-selected tasting of 4 for $20 or drink mead by the glass, since it was our first time I decided to do the tasting of very generous pours. I loved them all but the carrot blossom, which had a saison like flavor, & the chicory blossom, which was gin-like, were my favorite. We had a great time & will definitely be coming back!

Samantha D.

Yelp
Wow, this place is freakin adorable. You'll step inside a greenhouse space and be greeted by some great people. I have only had mead a few times, most of it being sweet since its made from honey but Heidirun Mead is a bit different since its made with bubbles and is like champagne. They offer 4 tastings for $25 or you can buy a bottle to share with friends. We really enjoyed the unique flavors they had, named after what the bees would be pollinating in the area. If you like a floral/botanical flavor don't miss their orange blossom. My personal favorite was probably the Clover mead but they were all really unique. Bonus is that I didn't feel that crazy headache the next day after having champagne but I get to enjoy the bubbles. They comp your tasting if you buy 3 bottles which is easy to do. Pack a picnic and enjoy the space - if you come early enough you may be able to snag a spot underneath the "tree cave" (not sure what to call it) which is shady and magical! It was very cottage core and I was loving it! A seriously cute find and worth a stop in Pt Reyes area.

Lovely place to relax and taste done very nice honey meads. Friendly & helpful staff, nice grounds to wander.

Yelp
Delicious, refreshing sparkling mead in a lovely area, this place has plenty of seating inside, under the shade of a willow tree, or in their quaint tasting room. We always go with an ever-rotating 4 for $20 tasting by the glass which has been fantastic each time. Staff is also super friendly and knowledgeable (feat. free wifi) Whether you go in on a full or empty stomach, the ability to bring in your own food/snacks also makes this super convenient to plan around and fit in your itinerary. It's almost mandatory for us to stop by here whenever we head up to Point Reyes.

Yelp
What a gorgeous little place! As soon as we stepped inside we were warmed and made to feel welcome. It's a unique, hand-touched space with wonderful, smiling staff. We learned a ton since we were new to the bubbles and process. It's pretty amazing! Our absolute favorite was the carrot blossom and we took a bottle home with us. $25 for a tasting and it's waived if you purchase 3 bottles. The pours are generous so it's absolutely worth it. We can't wait to share our goodies with family and return again!

Yelp
Mead, it's very different. This spring our group of six was exploring the Russian River area. Open to try anything wine related we stopped here. The farm / winery has some beautiful grounds. The perfect summer like day lent to an outdoor tasting nestled in some trees and herb gardens. Heidrun creates naturally sparkling meads - that's wine made from honey not grapes, in the French Champenoise style. Some local honey and some from other places in California and even Hawaii. Check the menu pics to see the selection. Their mead wine is full of bubbles and makes a great substitute and variation from champagne. I'm not a huge champagne fan. I started this review as a three star, but changed to a four due to the overall experience here was great and their wines have great appeal- just not for me. They offer quite the variety from brut dry to sweet. The colors also make pouring a bottle fun at your next party. The flight pours were generous. And included 8 tastes for $20. Plenty of parking in the huge lot right out front.

Yelp
Absolutely adorable and amazing little spot here, the atmosphere is light and airy and inviting, the workers here had the most excellent service. The ladies here were absolute pros and answered our questions without delay. I highly recommend coming to this spot if you are a big Mead fan like me. I also bought a cool hat! Love it here. Thank you Heidrun!!

Yelp
What a Find, lovely, welcoming & the staff knows the product! We stopped here by chance, not knowing what we'd find. This is a Meadery; i.e., an alcoholic beverage made from honey, in this case a sparkling wine. One can taste a flight or by the glass; either way you can't go wrong. We shared a flight, given it was still morning & not knowing what to expect. Each tasting was unique & true to how it was represented; if the write up stated "light stone fruit finish" it was indeed. I believe our friends who are certified sommeliers would have enjoyed this place, because their sparkling wines are hitting all the correct notes, but given this is not from grapes but rather honey, I'm sure they'd explain why I'm incorrect. Needless to say, if you're in the area this is a must stop, a chance to learn something different & taste something unique. The ground are beautiful as well, plenty of outdoor places to sit, lots of wild flowers to enjoy & throughout bee hives working away. There's a quaint shop inside as well, selling candles made from beeswax, along with different types of honey.

Yelp
Heidrun is a delightful spot in west Marin to enjoy the BEST mead, honey, and the most friendly staff! The tasting room is full of gorgeous flowers and plants in a lovely setting. Pro tip: best lighting anywhere for selfies in that tasting room!

Yelp
Early Disgorge. Yep, new word(s) that made our camping trip later up Hwy 1 much more fun. We sat outside under the winter sun and shared several meads, a cheese spread and crackers. The staff was warm, bubbly and helpful in all our tasting choices. After several hours of catching up and chatting with the staff, we eventually knew it was time to keep it moving. The grounds were charming and reminded me of summers back East where I went to college in Delaware. The property is perched up on a hill and allows for subtle views of nature all around. Our two servers knew their stuff through-and-through, their vivid descriptions of fruits and varietals of our meads made every flute a palate pleaser. They even were able to let our friend take her quarterly shipment with her to go since she couldn't collect the shipment next month. Even our dog enjoyed sun bathing on the patio. I picked up some honey lavender at the gift shop on the way out, which I've been enjoying with my ginger tea all week. Heid-but-don't-Run is a gem tucked off the road in P. R. S.

Yelp
What an utterly charming, genuine, unpretentious, magical little spot. The mead itself is sort of astounding - every glass is unique, the flavors are incredible, the tasting was an absolute highlight of a very good trip. But the meadery itself is the sort of place you want to stay at for hours if not a few days. The setting is picturesque, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and real nerdy about bees. Even in a storm soaked January like this year's the place is fragrant with herbs and the bee friendly plants. The local wares they sell in the shop are all luxury quality at craft fair prices. I had an amazing time getting pleasantly tipsy on a delicious array of sparkling meads and loading up on candles made by their own beekeepers, jars of honey from blossoms I'd never heard of, even a perfect handwoven picnic blanket. Cannot wait to make a return trip.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful garden - we loved the tasting! Plenty of shady and sunny spots!

Yelp
Super cute grounds, perfect place for a picnic. We had picked up some oysters and charcuterie ingredients (you can bring your own food) before heading over to this meadery. Lots of picnic tables and space to move around. We ordered a flight of mead, which was fun, but a little too sweet for my taste. However, because there are not a lot of picnic spots in this area, it was well worth it to enjoy the rest of our picnic. Definitely plan on coming back!

Yelp
The Heidrun Meadery is probably one of my favorite places on earth. We stumbled on the meadery after finishing a late lunch at the Marshall Store a few miles north from here. I recommend arriving in the early afternoon and bringing a picnic blanket. Most of the meads here are dry. Although they're made with honey, none of the bubblies were sweet, which pleasantly surprised our group of dry white wine drinkers. The lehua blossom mead is now my TOP bubbly and drink of choice. It is extremely floral with notes of passion fruit, pear, lychee. I brought a bottle back to the Airbnb to share with friends who didn't go on the trip and everyone was blown away by the fragrance. My only regret was that I didn't buy more! The tasting room is decorated with cute trinkets mostly designed and made by the meadry's staff, from bee-themed candles to vases of dried flower. The drive from SF to point Reyes was enjoyable with rolling green pastures, grazing animals, the bay, giant pine forests and little homes in the woods. It was the perfect day trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. BRB joining their wine club ASAP.

Yelp
Great place to sample different types of meat. There are so many delicious meats love it.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing hidden gem. Simpler yet extremely unique. Floral, clean, Crisp honey wine. Beautiful grounds your can wander. Worth the stop.

Yelp
This place is incredibly cute and the ambiance definitely is great even in COVID! I came here with my partner on a Saturday afternoon and we got the essential tasting flight - the orange blossom one we got at the end was super fizzy and stood out. Because it was only 4 tastings, it definitely was on the shorter side - we did also get a self guided tour of the beehives and history of the place so I may come again to try the other flight! It was a bit cold outdoors and no heating.

Yelp
I've been here twice before and it's an absolute gem! It's a lovely place for a nice drink or drinks any day of the week. I usually stop by here after a kayaking or hiking adventure. I always get the tasting which costs $25. After finishing my four drinks, I was at a perfect very functional buzz The venue is very sweet for any kind of event! Would I recommend it? Of course! Staff is also super friendly and dogs are allowed on the premises.

Yelp
What a cute Meadery. It's perfect for a sunny California day. It's mainly outside. You get to sit out with olive trees, oak trees, and meadery's vegetation. Strong nature vibe. The mead itself was good and interesting. Unlike most meaderys, this place takes total opposite approach. All their drinks are bubbly and dry. Also, seems they focus on types of honey, which tends to be biggest influencer of taste. Usually most meaderys keep their mead still, sweeter, and fruitier. The contrast is nice. It's bubbly Champagne version for mead. The dryness really lets you focus In on the honey notes, and appreciate more what you are getting. So, come in down to rural Marin county. The scenic drive is worth it to maybe spend you next elegant nature filled date!

Yelp
Stopped by on our way back from point reyes. Didn't have a reservation but luckily we got a table after walk-in. We had a very heavy lunch right before coming here and hence we were not up for a complete tasting experience. We requested if we could just buy a bottle and have it by one if their tables. They readily agreed. The seating space is truly beautiful. Staff is very friendly and the drink we had was very nice. This is the first time i had mead and I enjoyed it.

Mandie B.

Yelp
This is by far the tastiest mead my husband and I have both ever had. We did a tasting and every variety was light and refreshing. The property was lush with wildflowers, trees and seating areas. If you're passing through or staying nearby and enjoy bubbly drinks, this is a must stop! It gives a truly unique experience.

Yelp
Fantastic spot that dog, date and kid friendly. Perfect spot to stop on the way out to Tomales to get some Oysters.

Yelp
This is our favorite crab feed by far. We have enjoyed it the last few years. Can't wait to buy our tickets for the next one as well. Great farm to table fair. Plenty to eat other then just crab. It's also kid friendly. You enjoy your meal outside at picnic tables. Everything is served buffet style. They sale both bottles and by the glass. So many great flavors. Don't pre-judge based on the name. Be open and try all the great flavors. We went again yesterday to celebrate our 26th Anniversary. It was a beautiful clear day- after several days of rain. Sitting in the crisp air, enjoying meadow foam and taking a break from the holiday frenzy. They also have a great members program. Plenty of parking. Clean restrooms. Yummy local honey
