"The brisket, sausage, and ribs at this Fort Worth barbecue joint are stellar, but the real star of the show is the bacon burnt ends. These delightfully smoky little nuggets of pork belly are slathered in a sweet and peppery glaze, and it’s damn near impossible to eat just one. Good news for Dallasites: Heim opened a location on Mockingbird." - Courtney E. Smith, Amy McCarthy

"Much like tacos, you can’t think of Texas without immediately thinking of barbecue, and Heim Barbecue is one of the best options for smoked meats in Fort Worth. And Heim’s newest location, right next to the Trinity River, has plenty of space to spare - quite the opposite of the small side patio at their Magnolia Avenue location. Here you can grab a seat on their expansive covered patio or a picnic table on their open-air green space. For meats, we recommend the chopped brisket and bacon burnt ends. For sides, the onion rings and green chile mac and cheese are a must. The burger is tasty, too." - Emily Smith

"What started as a college hobby for pit master Travis Heim has turned into Fort Worth's coolest barbecue destination, a feat in a place with so much good barbecue. Heim and his wife Emma, who are co-owners, have worked hard to bring a solid barbecue establishment to the city's ultra-hip Magnolia Avenue, and their willingness to learn from Texas barbecue legends has only made the restaurant that much better. Your trip must include an order of the bacon burnt ends—cubed chunks of pork belly coated in a secret smoky-and-sweet spice mixture." - Tommie Ethington, Diana Oates

I had a great experience here! The brisket was tender and moist, and the sausage was easily the best I’ve had anywhere in the DFW area. I also really enjoyed the ribs — they had a hint of sweetness that I really liked. The potato salad was absolutely delicious, and while the mac and cheese could have been a little creamier, it was still flavorful and satisfying. The vibe was very friendly and welcoming, making it a great spot to bring the family. Plus, you get to enjoy the downtown atmosphere while you’re there. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Don't waste your hard earned money unless you just want to do so. My first time ever having mac/cheese without the cheese sauce, it was like eating unsalted potato chips. Their beverage machine didn't have water, they also needed to check the syrup level in the beverage machine. As the soda's tasted really flat, mind you this takes less than 2 minutes to do. All you do is disconnect one hose from the old box and connect the hose to the new box; Stevie Wonder could do this! Their Bacon Burnt Ends were harder than a jolly rancher, however their brisket was really good; so that had me perplexed. When visiting the restroom, be prepared, that you'll be sharing a sink and need to hurry up and get out of the way for the next person. Save your time and go somewhere else, unless you just have to say you ate here. I should of just went to 225 BBQ in Arlington instead, but here we are.

The overall dining experience was mixed. While the food was decent, the portion sizes did not seem to align with the pricing, we felt as though we paid $30 for what resembled an appetizer. Additionally, the peach cobbler was disappointing, with a taste and texture that suggested it may have come from a pre-packaged mix. However, the service was outstanding. Matheus was courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive, and his excellent service was a highlight of our visit.

First off, anyone scoring this place below a 4, especially those who gave it 1-2 stars, probably scores everything bad. Second point, I read most of the lower scores and none of them got the Bacon Burnt Ends. That’s about like going to Burger King and ordering a salad. With all that’s said, this place is legit. The Candied Bacon Burnt Ends are amazing. I’ve never had anything like it. I’m..... speechless. And not to discount the brisket, it was just as good. Moist, tender, flavorful. If I had to complain, the Mac and cheese wasn’t that Mac and cheesy. But that’s not dropping the ratings down. The star of the show was amazing. And I liked the banana pudding. If you go to this place and don’t get the burnt ends, shame on you. Don’t even bother reviewing. Cool vibes, great location, clean, friendly staff, quick service, good bread and pickle options.

Brisket was really tender with a flavorful rub. You can tell the beef is craft quality. Sauce is tangy and slightly spicy. Mac and cheese is tasty but not super cheesy if that’s what you like. Service was great, thank you Amanda and Brissia!

One of my favorite BBQ spots in Fort Worth. There are now a couple of locations, but this one on Magnolia is the original spot. This location is a little smaller than the others but it is in a great location within walking distance to a lot of shops and other restaurants. There is usually a line to place your order but once you place your order the food doesn't take too long to get to you. The sandwiches are great and so is the Heim burger. Hard to go wrong here though.

Heard many good things about Heim BBQ over the years. I didn’t enjoy my overall meal. I purchased the 3 meats that include 2 sides for $29.99. Texas-style sausage, twice baked potato salad, and BBQ sauce were good. Green chili mac ‘n’ cheese wasn’t creamy or cheesy. It was DRY! I was given mac ‘n’ cheese instead of the green chili mac ‘n’ cheese I ordered. Pork ribs were mid with a smokey pepper flavor. Pissed, I purchased two of Robin’s famous brownies. The one I opened was horrible! Crossing my fingers the other brownie tastes better, but I doubt it. Happy to see a self-serve table with bread, onions, pickles, and jalapeños. The staff were great, and I enjoyed the ambiance. The prices are better than most BBQ restaurants. Unfortunately, I won’t return. There are too many good BBQ spots in the area.

Birthday Dinner at Heim BBQ For my birthday, my wife—true to form—wanted to take me somewhere we had never been before. Over the years, I’d heard about a BBQ spot in Fort Worth and passed by it countless times. That place? HEIM. We decided to check out the Magnolia location, just on the southern outskirts of downtown Fort Worth. Arriving right around dinner time, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Heim wasn’t too crowded, and there was plenty of parking available around back. Service That Stands Out From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted twice—once by the bartender and then by someone we later learned was Jeff, a member of the owning family. Jeff’s warmth and enthusiasm immediately made us feel welcome. Without us even asking, Jeff started recommending menu items once he found out we were first-time visitors. What stood out was that many of his suggestions were dishes we had already heard about from other reviewers—a good sign! Jeff also took the time to highlight his employees, including the Employee of the Month, CeCe (I hope I got that right—way to go, CeCe!). It’s not every day that an owner makes it a point to recognize their staff so openly, and that spoke volumes about the culture at Heim. The Feast My wife and I shared a three-meat plate with a side of bacon-wrapped burnt ends, potato salad, 1849 onion rings (there's a story behind the name), and fried okra. We capped it all off with banana pudding, which was a sweet way to end the meal. As we ate, we noticed Jeff and his team constantly checking in on guests. It wasn’t just us—every table received that same level of attention. Now that’s what I call great service! The Food Honestly, there’s no such thing as a “bad” item on Heim’s menu. Choosing a favorite was tough! If I had to make recommendations, the sausage, brisket, smoked chicken, potato salad, fried okra, and onion rings all scored a solid 9 out of 10 in my book. But here’s the kicker—before we left, Jeff gave me a birthday surprise: a tour of the smokers! That’s when I saw the pulled pork and brisket cooking low and slow—and all I can say is, OMG. Next visit, I’m making sure to try that! Huge shoutout to Orlando, the master behind those smokers! Confidence in Their Craft One of the most memorable moments of the night was when Jeff stopped by to chat with us about BBQ. Not only did he talk about Heim’s offerings, but he wasn’t afraid to compliment the competition. That’s rare in the restaurant world, but when your product is as solid as Heim’s, you can afford to have that level of confidence. Final Thoughts If you’re in the Fort Worth area and craving top-tier BBQ, make a stop at Heim. The food is fantastic, the prices are fair, the atmosphere is laid-back, and the service is truly exceptional. Thank you, Jeff and the Heim team, for an unforgettable birthday dinner! #RodPVerified

Yelp
Busy night on Thursday, but very quick service! My sister and I shared a 3 meat platter and two sides! The unexpected hit was the bacon burnt ends: flavorful, a little sweet, and tender . My favorite and I wish I can take a lb to go! But I didn't bc we finished it all. It was a lively place, I like seeing other folks enjoying their time!

Yelp
I took my wife here for lunch on Saturday afternoon, an amazingly there was no line outside the door. In no time at all, we place our order, gotten our drink, and found a very, very wobbly table. We were quickly served our food and it looked amazing. My wife and I split the three meat plate with two sides. We got the brisket, ribs, and half a chicken. Our sides were onion, rings and green chili, mac and cheese. The first bite I took was of the chicken. It was amazing cooked to perfection, not overcooked or mushy. I know I'm not supposed to eat the skin as it's not supposed to be healthy but that's where the rub was and it was delicious. Had a bit of heat too. I then tried the pork rib, again put cooked to perfection. It was perfectly done, but not overdone with an amazing taste. Lastly, was the brisket, one thick, big hunk of juicy, tender, delicious brisket. The kind that I absolutely love with a great bark. Absolutely delicious. Now for the bad part. The onion rings were greasy. They ended up upsetting my wife's stomach, that greasy. The mac & cheese, even though they had green chili in them, were rather bland. I just was not a fan of these. And lastly, the only table we were able to find wobbled so badly that our drink actually sloped out of the cup. The staff is quick and friendly. They did exactly what they were supposed to do. Absolutely yes I will come here and eat again, I just won't get the onion rings or mac & cheese One other thing.... They let a pet into the restaurant! Seriously people, pets do not belong in restaurants. It's a health code violation.!

Yelp
FOOD IS AMAZING!!! i recommend this place for its food (the loaded mac is SO good!) and the ambiance. the service was amazing and all of the staff were awesome! 10/10

Yelp
First time visiting. This place was clean, A/C was on point, and the food was outstanding. Greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival. Very friendly service at the counter where they take your order. Tye food came out quick and was hot to the touch. No sauce required for this flavorful meal. Definitely coming back soon.

Yelp
I was introduced to my first Texas BBQ at Heim, and this was a GREAT first experience. My friend and I came around 6:30 pm and just beat the evening crowd. Minutes after we ordered, lines were out the door and the place was packed! The meats here lived up to the hype - I loved almost everything we ordered. Burnt ends here are *chefs kiss* and the sausage was the most surprising for me. The pork loin was the only one I'd pass on - not the biggest fan of pork loin to begin with. All the sides here are phenomenal. The mac and cheese and beans are MUST, in my opinion. Staff is super friendly here, and they got our order together fast. Ambiance was lively, and the place was packed even for a Wednesday night! Definitely a great first Texas BBQ experience!

Yelp
Had been looking forward to going to Heim for awhile. Previous 2 visits was just too busy. Was immediately disappointed when ordering the 2 Meat Plate when I was told my top 3 choices were unavailable. The better decision would have been to leave but decided to change my order and get the Single Meat Plate with the Bacon Burnt Ends. The Bacon Burnt Ends were solid which is why this is a 2 star review. The Green Chile Mac & Cheese didn't taste very Green Chile. They were probably out of that too but didn't bother telling me. Also the Mac & Cheese was a little cold. Sad that my anticipation of this place ended in disaster. Won't be going back.

Yelp
I had to make sure to get some Texas BBQ while I was in Fort Worth, so I dropped in to Heim's for lunch. The brisket is superb, no doubt. I had the two meat platter with brisket and turkey, with potato salad and mac 'n cheese as sides. The turkey was quite good, and the sides were very tasty. I have to be honest, though -- the cost is very high, and I have found better Texas barbeque in hole-in-the-wall places. I recognize Heim's as a great barbeque place, and I would definitely recommend it. I just don't feel it as a five-star meal. A five-star meal has to leave me saying, "Oh, man! That was amazing!" Heim's left me full. And happy. But I didn't quite reach the amazed level. A big thumbs up to the star of the show: the brisket!

Yelp
WOW...we ordered way too much food for 2 people. Me and a buddy went there for first time while visiting Fort Worth. We ordered 6 meats and 4 sides. My favorite meats were the ribs, burnt ends and the jalapeno cheddar sausage. Favorite sides were the pinto beans and the Mac and cheese. We sat outside on the patio. Before and after pics are posted.

Yelp
It was 5 O clock on a Tuesday afternoon. There was already a small line. The place had a lot of people sitting down eating too. It was busy for a weekday. I discovered many things at Heim. I'll tell you what's up! The line didn't move quick enough, Employees could offer assistance to first timers instead of chatting. Cashier really nice but, didn't have the urgency to keep the line moving? They have a complimentary condiment bar which, I truly love about Heim. The CC Bar included Bread, Pickles, Onions, to go boxes, and sauce containers. This is very helpful when you get a to go plate or as your eating. The food came out quickly. I noticed they had some specials before 5:30 pm. I chose the 3 meat platter for $10.00. It was supposed to include, Ribs, Bacon Burnt Ends, and Brisket. However, they were out of short ribs. She said, she could make it a quarter lb since they were out of Ribs. I said, ok. However, she charged me for that? I thought, it would be the same price but, it wasn't? When my order came out. It was 1 large slice of Brisket and almost one half slice of Brisket. There were Five Bacon Burnt Ends. They were greasy, hearty and heavily peppered. The BBE were tender and easy to pull apart!. It was too much for me to finish. I took them to go. Not complaining. My Dad had the Potato Salad and it was not your traditional P. S.. It was a hearty portion with shredded Cheese, Chives and Sour cream that made it taste flavorless. My Dad ate all of his Beans. One time, I looked at his tray and it was full, the next time it was gone! Lol. My Brisket was tender and salty. It was easy to cut, which I appreciate! The BBQ sauce was ok, sort of tangy, not too thin or thick. Bathrooms were dirty. There was Toilet paper on the floor. Restrooms have a unique set up. There's a fam Restroom, Women's, and Men's that are all separate. However, everyone washes their hands at the same sink? It was awkward. I saw a man there the same time I was washing my hands. Creepy. I was like, did I go to the right restroom? Lol. Well, this sums up Heim. If your okay with the details I provided, head to Heim. If not, skip it. Lol.

Yelp
This is a great Barbecue spot their food never disappoints and services is always top notch. Their burnt ends are very tender and juicy and brisket is also very tender as well. They do live music which adds a great ambiance to the food they serve. Highly recommend!

Scott L.

Yelp
2250 Yelp reviews can't be wrong! I agree this is one great BBQ joint. Friendly, fast service, nice bar, music, and died and gone to heaven meats

Yelp
Well, this was a disappointing experience. We came to Heim barbecue because it rated highly on Yelp at a four out of five. We did walk in for an early dinner at 4:30, however, I don't believe the timeframe is an excuse for being out of the majority of the menu. We wanted to come in for the ribs, they're out. Half a chicken, they were out. We thought about turkey, and they're out. Even a basic side like collard greens they were out. The explanation is that it is Tuesday and we don't cook as much food. My responses was to ask the question, then why are you open? They are open for dinner, we came for their signature dishes and many of them were not available. I can give grace if there's one item that restaurant is out of, but to have a number of the meat items unavailable is just unacceptable no matter how good the food is. The only reason we stayed is because it's over 100° outside and the thought of driving another 10 or 15 minutes to another establishment was daunting, although my gut was to leave. There are other patrons here as well, so we are not alone. The food they had available, that we were served was very, very good. The burnt ends were flavorful, brisket was fatty, but also filled with flavor. In place of collards we asked about Heim's Coleslaw. The person ringing us up said it "was like most other places. Slaw with ranch dressing." It was not even close to that description. It is unique. Shredded purple cabbage and carrots in a thinner slaw dressing. It was a little bland; however, it has a lot of potential. The pinto beans were a star. Nicely seasoned. In my opinion all of this makes this situation all the more frustrating. What we were served was great. Much of what we came for was not available. I am sorry to say I can't give Heim a pass on this one.

Yelp
Got here and wait about 20 minutes in line to order which wasn't too bad. I was kinda shocked they only had 1 cashier taking orders as there was a huge line behind us wrapping around the building. Food: I ordered the sliced brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage and OMG it was so good and juicy especially dipped in their BBQ sauce. That BBQ sauce really elevated the meats. Sides: I had the collared greens which I did not like, it was a little too bitter as it wasn't boiled long enough. I also got their Potato salad which I wasn't a fan of either, just really lacked seasoning. Overall, I'd definitely go back for the meats but maybe try some other sides.

Alycia H.

Yelp
I placed a Togo order on Friday morning and picked up my order around 11:30. This was my first time at this location, fun ambiance, the place was clean and the staff were extremely welcoming. I walked in and the bartender went and grabbed my order; 6 meals $160ish with a $20 tip. The bags were ready and I walked out, it took me some time to find parking so I was short on time so I didn't check the meals- my fault, but they should also ensure everything was right. I got to my meeting, started handing out meals. I was embarrassed that one persons sides were left off, we received 4 pieces of bread, and there was ZERO BBQ sauce?! So dry BBQ it was Thankfully my clients didn't complain much as it was a free meal, but still was not a great look. I love Heims and their food so when my clients asked for Heims I was a so excited. I did put I wanted sauce, I didn't assume they would just give it (although I feel they should).

Latoya E.

Yelp
We found this place while visiting Dallas. We arrived just before closing time. The staff was very patient and helpful. We ordered meals and sat outside! What a great dinner date spot. Family friends. Pet friendly. Plus this BBQ is delightful!! They offer a few different sauce options which I loved, had to try a couple! Check this place out!!! Very clean bathrooms!

Yelp
Come on Heim... First, I do like Heim, and have seen them go from trailer to brick and mortar, then learn the BM tricks well. BUT... Last night stood in line (it was barely to the sidewalk) for 40 min while HALF the line was served by some hostess taking orders SLOWER THAN FREAKING MUD! Seriously, the place was half empty, plenty of seating, and employees milling around behind the counter! I left after 40 min barely having made it in the door with an estimated 30 more minutes in front of me WITH JUST 2 PARTIES! Stupid SLOW. I hate reviews that talk about "someone was mean to me" or "the lighting was bad" but this was just plain poor customer service...in a place that not one person seemed to care. Can I coin a phrase "have a sense of urgency" when people standing in line... Do better Heim. After a few days mulling the issue...decided not going back, and would encourage folks to find other dining on Magnolia. A business with this much disregard and disrespect for its customers does not deserve your patronage...

John W.

Yelp
Ordered three meat plate with brisket, turkey and burnt ends. Sides were Mac n cheese and pinto beans. Quick service and food was delicious!

Wendy C.

Yelp
Our first choice was booked First, , Order your food and sit down at great wood tables. Fantastic local place on a cute street. The ribs were memorable!

Kari L.

Yelp
Nice spot in Southside Ft Worth We ordered a 3 meat plate with pulled pork, pork loin and ribs. Then added a jalapeño cheddar sausage and order of bacon burnt ends. Oh my were the bacon burnt ends amazing!! So much flavor. The jalapeño sausage was pretty darn good too. We enjoyed the other meats also For sides we ordered coleslaw and onion rings. The coleslaw was missing a lot. Not much flavor there. The onion rings were really good though. We will definitely come back.

Yaya M.

Yelp
If you see a line outside please do not be discouraged, it moves fast. The staff was friendly, the seating is unique but you seat yourself after you order your food. The mac & cheese was just okay (not for me) and the bbq sauce is amazing. I look forward to going back. The only thing that I wished they had would be a loaded baked potato, that would make the menu complete!

Tami B.

Yelp
Great Texas BBQ spot close to TCU! Recommend for students and visiting families! We had the pork ribs, brisket, brisket sandwich. and Mac and cheese for sides. All were fantastic! We also bought BBQ sauce and seasoning to take home.

Tayo A.

Yelp
This was pretty good for a BBQ restaurant that only has a handful of locations in DFW. Although the food was not as hot as it could have been, we concluded our meal feeling quite satisfied. I recommend the brisket, but I will say the cuts we got were pretty fatty(maybe one could request lean cuts?). I'd also recommend the sausage & burnt ends. The mac and cheese was a favorite with my family, it comes with brisket by default but you can sub it for something else which is what we did as we wanted to try their turkey. The collard greens were okay, I expected more but they were a bit under seasoned so the bitterness really took center stage. The best part of the meal was probably the cobbler, it tasted very unique to any i've ever had before & was topic of conversation for the rest of our day trip in Fort Worth. Also! If you go during happy hour there was some pretty good exclusive food offers that the cashier kindly brought to our attention! I would love to come back during the evening because they also have a bar, and I'd like to imagine Heim has a great evening atmosphere.

Matt G.

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation for a buddy who said I had to try the burnt ends here. When we rolled up around 630, there was a line. This was a good sign. People waiting always means something special. After we got inside, the next step was to determine what was left (hoping they were not sold out of many things) and figure out how hungry I was. I wanted to go with the three meat meal but I knew I would not be able to finish it. So two meat it was. When judging bbq spots, IMO, if a spot can nail brisket, they will have great bbq. Brisket is a tough cut to nail. If the brisket is tender, juicy and has great flavor, it is a win IMO. I grabbed up the fatty brisket and the bacon burnt ends. I went with fries because they ran out of coleslaw and the spicy Mac and cheese. The brisket. So good. Had amazing flavor. It was super juicy. There was no knife required to cut it. There was no sauce required. I can say that they mail the brisket. After that, I moved onto the bacon burnt ends. This was a different take. The curing of the pork belly made for a nice bite of the meat. Had that bacon texture. Then the slow smoke allowed all the day to render making them super moist and easy to eat. The flavor was amazing. Not over sauced. Just the right amount of smoke as well. The meat was delicious. The fries were decent. Nothing special about them. The max and cheese was probably my biggest let down. Labeled as a chili Mac and cheese, I expected either a chili Mac or a spicy Mac and cheese. When I received it, it looked like it was going to have a kick to it. This was not the case. There was no heat and I didn't get much pepper taste to it. The max was tasty and worth getting but it was not what I thought it was going to be. I would love to see more heat to that max and cheese. Overall, this was a bomb spot! If you are in the area, it is a worthwhile spot to stop for bbq. Inside seating is very limited so get there early. Arriving early will also allow you to get the biggest selection as they do sell out of items as the night goes on.

Nate P.

Yelp
This is my first time in Fort Worth, and a friend recommended this place and they were 100% right. The food was amazing( loaded brisket Mac and cheese was great). It has a nice friendly welcoming feel to it. 5 Stars

Makayla M.

Yelp
Huge portions. Cool little outdoor bar service area! Favorites: burnt ends, chicken, Mac and cheese Hated: the coleslaw! Nothing special, but good: brisket, sausage

Hai P.

Yelp
The brisket is good--the burnt ends are so-so, but you pay a Michelin three-star prices for taco stand quality. After I got my food, I laughed to myself at every customer that walked in, because this place is a daylight robbery. I call this place a "volunteered robbery," because I paid for it. The coleslaw? So-so. The fries? They're good, but it's fries, people. It's not hard to make, just make them crispy. The Mac and cheese? The cheese is dry. How do you make the cheese dry?? One thing that was good was the bread. The jalapeño buns were good, and so was the brisket, but everything else was garbage.

Nicole T.

Yelp
Easily the best barbecue I've ever had in my life. While in Texas, it's a shame to leave and not visit any BQ restaurants so my sister took me to Heim to grab dinner to go. She told me it was good, but I didn't know how good it would be. The restaurant itself was super casual with open seating. We didn't have to wait long before our order was ready and the food was still warm when we got home. I ordered the brisket sandwich and I was highly impressed. Everything was cooked to perfection and even the buns were amazing. The sandwich is pretty large, and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. On the side I had the mac & cheese which was really good too. Definitely check this place out when you get the chance!

John D.

Yelp
We are on a cross country road trip and were looking for great TX BBQ. Hiem experience was great! Got in got brisket and were lucky enough to get 1 beef rib. Food was excellent! Exactly what you would expect from TX BBQ. Highly recommend and may stop on the way back.

Robin K.

Yelp
We went there on the way to Dallas for a concert. We ordered a 3 meat plate to split. The brisket was killer. It was so good. The turkey and ribs were also very good. Our sides were collard greens and pinto beans, they were spicy, but tasty. The Service was very good, they seem to be well staffed. We will go back.

Andres P.

Yelp
So good I came back 2 times in the matter of 24 hours! I've never had a Texas brisket, so this was a christening experience. Also I love that they have a bar so you can get some drinks while your there, that's a huge plus. Great vibes service was great, food come out fast Definitely recommend if your passing Forth Worth or visiting the first time, go Cowboys baby!!!!

Amy B.

Yelp
What's a trip to Texas without some BBQ! Heim has such a low key vibe about it. You merely walk up to the counter and order whatever you are fancying and pick your spot to post up. We chose the bar so that we could get all the great recommendations from those who know best. Hubs and I opted to share a meat plate with brisket, sausage, and bacon burnt ends (to die for!!!). When i say this was a plate of heaven I am not overexaggerating. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our meats were accompanied by slaw and green chile mac n' cheese which were both a great way to balance the flavor profile. We were fortunate to make it just in time (with a TCU game at home that weekend) as they did sell out of a lot of menu items. But hey that just means everyone knows it is that good!

Lori P.

Yelp
I love Heim Barbecue. Their food is always fresh, flavorful and amazing. The bacon burnt ends are a must

Situated in downtown Ft. Worth, Texas, not too far from the Historic Southside and just minutes away from TCU, home of the Horn Frogs, is Heim (Farm to Smoke) Barbecue. One of my fraternity bothers suggested we try them out. So that's exactly what the Lane Family did. This place offers a variety of seating choices. From family seating, seating at the bar, the entry counter, as well as booth and table seating. Nice rustic ambiance with butcher paper menus ready for you to order. We ordered our usual, a pound of brisket, ribs, and sausage with a couple of sides; Fries and Mac-n-Cheese. The Mrs. "clutched her pearls" when she saw they had peach cobbler. Of course we had to try it along with some the banana pudding. Service was pretty fast. They give you a buzzer while they make your order then you pick it up at the counter. The Brisket The brisket was tender but lack real smoked flavor. It did however tasted better with the sauce which reminded me of a sweet molasses "A-1". The Ribs The ribs were tender. Nice bite. Again, no real smoke. Sweet finish. Almost like ham on a bone. The Sausage The sausage was like their version of Eckrich sausage at best. Good flavor but again, sauce to the rescue. The Sides Mac-N-Cheese was simple. Nice elbow noddle, simple cheese sauce with pepper. Nothing spectacular. The hand cut fries were salty but no real crunch. The Dessert The banana pudding is a "No" for me. Although it was made from scratch, I didn't feel the love. You literally had to have a bite with a piece of banana for you to know it was banana pudding. No real care for as it seemed that they make the pudding base with a few bananas and the Cush some vanilla wafers on top before serving. The peach cobbler though.... It was good. Definitely would come for the peach cobbler. Just the right amount of sweetness. Well balanced. Not too much cinnamon or nutmeg. The crust tasted like a well prepared buttery shortbread. It made the dessert. If you're a crust person, you will enjoy. Overall, good experience. Definitely, good lunch spot or evening dinner spot. We noticed that the weekend crowd started to come in around 6pm. That was the only time we noticed the line out the door. If you're in the area, swing by and grab a bite. They'll be happy you did.

Yelp
This is hands down some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Priced well, and fresh but evident of slow cooked meats that are tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Great atmosphere with parking across the street for convenience.

Yelp
The ladies at the counter were very nice Unfortunately, my ribs and burnt ends were both old and very hard to chew and not so nice to eat. The sausage was old too but had a great flavor. This was our introduction to TX bbq. I will pass next time We got our food to go and I wished I would've ck'd it before we got home because I definitely would have asked for our $50+ dollars back. Shame on you Heims for serving that!! And you came HIGHLY recommended by the locals

Yelp
I recently traveled to Dallas, and since I'm not from Texas, I really wanted to try some good barbecue. Although Heim is definitely a solid joint, I'm not blown away, especially since so many reviews rave about it. This is a very casual establishment in that you go up to the cashier to order, seat yourself, and pick up the food when it's ready. They have a station for drinks and a counter for bread and condiments, all of which function on a serve-yourself basis. The staff were very helpful in their recommendations, and the food came out relatively quickly. However, the tables were dirty and sticky when we sat down. Also, they have lots of long tables, so you might sit with people you don't really know. Now, onto the food; it was pretty good. Definitely use the sauce--some cuts are very dry without it. We also got a side of vegetables, but it was really sad. I don't recommend ordering it. However, I liked the serve-yourself bread, which you can use to make sandwiches with the meat. That being said, my absolute favorite item here was the mac n cheese. HIGHLY recommend! The noodle shape is fun, and it doesn't taste like regular mac n cheese; they really elevated the flavors. The people around me left their finished plates on the table, and the staff cleaned up for them, so I think you can just leave it. However, our party cleaned up after ourselves because we weren't entirely sure! Overall, this place is very solid, and it was sufficient enough to satisfy by barbecue craving while in Texas.

Yelp
If there were more stars they would get them! THE best BBQ I've ever had! My buddy got the bacon burnt ends, let me tell ya, they are fabulous, melt in your mouth good! Potato salad, super unique and delicious! Pinto beans, best I've ever had! Service was great! We sat at the bar and had a very attentive bartender that explained everything to the tee. Hats off to the once food truck to now 2 storefronts and a 3rd one coming! Mr. and Mrs. Hein are awesome!

Yelp
My wife and I went at 5:00 on a Saturday night. They were out of bacon burnt ends - their signature item. Not even an apology from the person who took our order, just a shrug. The barbecue we had was old and dry. We like to support local businesses but never again.

Yelp
When in Texas, you need to eat some Texas BBQ and Heim is a good choice. We split the four meat combo and had bacon burnt ends, pork, brisket, and sausage. The brisket was moist and tender, no easy feat, with a nice smoke flavor. The sausage was A keilbasa and was nicely spiced, crisp and had a robust, smoky flavor. I found the burnt ends to be drier than I like and the pork was fine but I'd try something else next time. The sauce is particularly good and really add tot he flavor of the meat without covering up any of the smokiness. I found the brisket with the sauce a bit of jalapeño and onion on a piece of white bread to be an excellent lunch! As for sides, the green chili Mac and cheese is a definite do over...I wasn't crazy out the slaw but others at the table enjoyed it. A great lunch and a good place to try some Texas bbq!

Yelp
This was my first stop before the Rangers game. I had heard about the bacon burnt ends, and had to try them. I parked across the street and walked over. There were maybe 8 people in front of me in line. Placed my order for 1/3lb bacon burnt ends, a jalapeno cheese sausage corn dog, and a small order of loaded potato skins. Got a Coke to drink. How were they? Delicious! Bacon Burnt Ends- Um....these things may have been the best bbq item I have ever placed in my mouth. Like eating candy bbq nuggets. The fat from the bacon just melts in your mouth, and then you get the little chew from the bacon part. These things were fantastic! I wish I had ordered more of them! Loaded Potato Skins- Crispy, thin potato skins/chips, topped with everything delicious under the sun! Brisket, cheese, queso, green onions, pico etc. They were awesome! Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Dog- This was the only "miss" of my meal. The sausage itself was delicious, but the corn dog part was not good. It was really thin batter, almost like a crepe, and not crispy at all. It was like eating a sausage rolled in a pancake. A tad disappointed, if it had a thick crispy corn meal batter, this thing would have been awesome. I wound up peeling off corn part and just ate the sausage straight up. Coke- They had really sweet fountain Coke. I loved it! Overall, very happy with my meal. Would definitely come back if I lived in Dallas or when I visit next. Those bacon burnt ends are so freaking good!

Yelp
A++, made 3 BBQ stops on a long weekend trip to the DFW area and Heim tied for favorite along with Cattleack. Except here, there was no wait and they're open for more than twice a week. Everything was fantastic. Mac n' cheese and potato salad were the best I've ever had. And all the meats were tender and flavorful. Shared a 3 meat plate as a lighter meal for 2.

Yelp
Omg this food was delicious! I went there and to my surprise it was happy hour! I ordered the margarita and the happy hour meat sampler. For $10 you get brisket, ribs, and the bacon burnt ends. When I went they ran out of the burnt ends so they doubled the ribs and I was happy because I love ribs!!! Theirs were amazing !

Yelp
Found my new favorite barbecue place! Truly a place I will continue coming back to. Meat: Got half moist and half lean brisket, and the lean wasn't dry at all. The moist one can be on the fattier side (but I mean, still delicious). I prefer my barbecue sauce a little on the sweeter side, so theirs really hits the spot for me. Pork ribs are delicious too, super moist with also a sweet coating. I also loved the burnt ends - I've had them at other places were I felt like I was getting a mouthful of fat, but here it's a good ratio, and with some bite too. And the sausages were really solid. Really wish they weren't out of the beef rib every time we pull in, still have yet to try it! Sides: Beans were a little spicy (barely), and cooked perfectly. We've also tried the mac n cheese and fries which I liked as well. Coleslaw is tangier which can help cut through the meat. Potato salad is good, but it really just tastes like how you'd expect, I could go without.

Yelp
Was in Fort Worth for a training conference. They as good as my two favorite spots in Austin, TX. Per my request, they gave me burnt brisket ends to go with my other meats. Everything was excellent, I highly recommend.

Yelp
Let's start where it matters... The food is AMAZING! It may be the law of recency, but this is the best BBQ I've had. The brisket was tasty, juicy & tender. The bacon burnt ends peppery and sweet. The beans delicious and amazing. I'm generally not a huge fan of potato salad but got it because they didn't have collards that day . We sat at the bar and ordered there and Nelson, our bartender was great. As newbies to the spot and visiting the area, he broke everything down for us and was cool and inviting making us feel welcomed. The decor and ambience was relaxed. Everything is clean and inviting. If I find my way back in the area I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend this spot! Certified legit!

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. We tried a bunch of things. Pulled pork was good. Brisket and bacon burnt ends were amazing. Onion rings were huge and delicious. The loaded mac with brisket was good too. The coleslaw was just ok for us. I enjoyed the collard greens as they had just the right amount of flavor and were not over cooked.

Yelp
TL; DR: Great for lunch, fills you up This is a great spot for a lunch and the food comes out fast. The bacon wrapped burnt ends are so so good. I would definitely get a platter and try all the different types. Ketchup is not needed when you have a bottle of BBQ right next to you! Also, the fries are crispy and the Mac is spicy

Yelp
I Was in downtown Fort Worth for a short conference and of course I couldn't leave without hitting up a bbq joint. The line for this place was out the door so we knew it was probably pretty good. The food came out pretty fast and oh my lord the pork rib was so tender and juicy, the sausage as well. The star of the show was the bacon burnt ends. This is my first time having the bacon burnt ends and it was literally melt in your mouth good. I was very tempted to get another order to bring on the plane!

Yelp
A staple in the BBQ game. From home cooking to brick and mortar. I ain't into glitzy's like that bruh but the flavor on their sausage links were gassed up like a hummer. Fiya! The ambiance and air seeps of deep smoked brisket, aka I was in heaven. Shoutout to the staff too, dope people! Gotta stay eatin!
