"Ever wondered what it would be like to eat some oysters on the set of A Midsummer Night’s Dream? Well, you’re about to find out. Hello Darling in Waterloo is a couple of doors down from The Old Vic and everything here is distinctly theatre. Picture a restaurant designed exclusively by Fleabag’s eccentric step-mum and you’re on your way to understanding a space with colourful nick-nacks everywhere, huge draped curtains, and hand-painted art on the tables. You’ll find seasonal sharing plates like miso glazed tuna carpaccio, tomato ragu with crispy halloumi, and blowtorched mackerel on the menu - yes, blowtorched, for drama darling, drama. The service here is on the horizontal side of laidback, but their excellent botanical cocktails and curried scallops make any waiting worthwhile." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Had high expectations for this new restaurant by Natalie Coleman. The decor is quite nice, but the food and the service were both underwhelming. Our waitress couldn't make any recommendations (besides "lamb dish looks nice"). The food was well prepared, but lacked flavor. We tried 5 different dishes and will not recommend any of them. Disappointed.

We went to Hello Darling during its opening week for dinner. We tried a number of dishes including, the heritage tomatoes with whipped feta which was nice. The roasted carrot and lentils with salsa verde was also good. The soft shell crab was average and I'd skip this dish. The duck confit leg was crispy but dry (perhaps overcooked). The slow braised lamb was good and hearty. The cocktail we tried was over priced and not great. The star of our meal was definitely the dessert. We had the rhubarb and frangipanie tart which was unique and excellent. The ambiance was pleasant and the food was very well timed (especially considering it was only open for a week). Some of the staff seemed confused at times but I'm sure this will improve over time.

Offers a decent selection of tapas/sharing dishes. I found the potion sizes to be really generous. Three dishes is more than enough per person; i had a dessert on top of this and was royally stuffed by the end of the evening. Loved all the dishes i had, especially the molten chocolate cake. Service needs improvement. Our waiter forgot to bring some drinks so we had to remind him. He ended up sticking through these drinks as a new order. Luckily we noticed when paying the bill and got them removed. They were also slow to bring out some of our dishes and it was rather unequal: some people had all three dishes that they ordered whilst others were still waiting for their first dish. The decor was certainly interesting, especially in the toilet cubicles. If you live and work in Waterloo or the Southbank, i recommend getting the Star Card as was used this to get 20% off the bill. There is also 2 for 1 cocktails before 6pm!

Absolutely fabulous meal. Friendly, relaxed staff, homely decor, really beautiful, creative food. Bread was incred. Choc pudding divine. Don't miss the pulled pork either.

Beautiful restaurant with great attention to detail. Food was overall pretty good, the wood pigeon was an absolute standout and definitely something I'd have again! Wasn't blown away by any of the salad-type tapas meals but still enjoyed them. Main complaint was the 'focaccia', which was just a regular loaf of bread. If you are expecting real focaccia (medium-thin, salty etc.) don't order this as it ended up being a tasteless and doughy carb addition that sat on the side of our table untouched. Overall an enjoyable experience and I would visit again to try the rest of the menu.

We popped in for a quick cocktail or two, ok...ok...four..it was 2 for 1...and stayed for dinner, soooooo glad we did! Service was excellent, non intrusive but knowing. Food was sublime as was the decor, the detail throughout was a master stroke in experiences - we are now looking to book the rooms for our party - many thanks for the tour...x

Enjoyed the dishes but somehow felt this place lacked attention to customers. Waiters seemed more interested in mingling with other waiters than checking on customers... Food felt overpriced... rice pudding didn't justify fine dining prices.

Nice bar and friendly staff. However unfortunately food was very poor. We ordered several small plates between us, the crudités had a warm brown dip which tasted awful, we ending up just filling up on bread and leaving.
