"A venture by the brother-sister duo behind the Herbivorous Butcher, Herbie Butcher’s Fried Chicken offers a vegan seitan dupe that is as crispy and salty as its meat counterpart (though not a good match for gluten-free eaters). The restaurant serves buckets of chicken, tots, biscuits with maple butter, mashed potatoes, and oat-based shakes out of a tiny window off of Chicago Avenue. Order online if you can — in the summer, the line runs down the block." - Justine Jones, Eater Staff

"Just in time for summer, the vegan butcher duo behind Herbivorous Butcher is opening a new fast-casual restaurant, Herbie Butcher’s Fried Chicken on Friday, May 21. Seitan and high protein wheat flour are the base for the comforting, home-fried, extra-crunchy vegan chicken. The menu is sparse yet easy to navigate: small, medium, large or extra-large buckets include pieces of chicken with a tater tot base, biscuits with maple butter, and choice of sides including additional tots and biscuits, or coleslaw and macaroni and cheese." - Alicia Banaszewski

The chicken is REALLY that good! Stopped in on a Friday Eve to try the place out for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. For $20 with tip, two people can have a filling meal. I'm an omnivore and my wife is meat free. It was nice that we could both go somewhere and just order whatever and still share. I let the guy behind the counter know (really nice btw) that it was our first time and he recommended the two piece bucket. We got honey mustard as the dipping sauce and mashed potatoes as the side. Our order was out in less than 5 minutes. The gravy on the mash was incredible and the maple "butter" was just perfect for the biscuit. The chicken and tots were crispy and hot. I caught myself wondering why I'd even need to bother eating real chicken again. The chicken is that good!!

Google
Just do it, don’t consider anywhere else for lunch/dinner…just go. Herbies chicken is by far, hands down, no questions asked, the BEST vegan chicken I have ever had. There is no feeling like ordering a BUCKET of chicken with ranch and just chowing down! The flavor was perfect, and the level of crunch can’t be beat. The sides complimented the chicken very well too. Only issue is the inside seating is a little squishy, but with some chicken to eat, who cares.

Tony

Google
Best vegan chicken I’ve had in the Twin Cities. I loved the butter that comes with the biscuits. Mac and cheese and bacon beans were very good as well. All the flavors reminded me of a traditional fried chicken meal.

Google
Intentionally misleading. They put "BUTCHER" and "FRIED CHICKEN" in the name and purposefully obfuscate the menu items to confuse and trick people. I went to the website and NOWHERE does it say it's vegan. In fact, it calls itself "a fast casual fried chicken restaurant". Why not include vegan in that description? The only reason you wouldn't include that (very important!) word is to trick people into ordering food from your restaurant thinking it's actual chicken and *somehow*, I guess, change their minds into thinking vegan meat is OK. Well, it's not OK. I feel duped and deceived. The food is not what I wanted and NOT what was advertised. The vegan chicken is mostly breading. The texture is weird. The flavor is weird. The tater tots are pretty good. The baked beans are OK. The biscuit is hard and bland. The tater tots are the only thing I could eat. Please change your business and advertising practices because this is extremely unethical.

Google
Vegan fried chicken?? Yes!! I’m glad I got to go here, I haven’t had fried chicken quite like this since going vegan. Great flavor and texture. The 3 piece bucket was great and came with tots and a biscuit. The biscuit and vegan honey butter were superb. I also really liked the BBQ and Ranch sauces. It reminds me of when I used to eat at KFC back in the day. We also got their new fried mozzarella sticks, but they were just okay. The cheese is more gooey than stringy, and are a bit pricey for what they are. The chicken sandwiches were also very good and the sauces on those were very good. Perfect for a vegan chicken craving. The staff was also very nice.

Google
My favorite vegan option in Minneapolis. Highly recommend the chicken strips, house sauce, Mac-n-cheese and cinnamon sticks!

Glad I tried this place out. If your in need of vegan food or just want to try something different then this is definitely a place to try. Service was nice and informative. Biscuit was good but the butter was lackluster for being an additional charge. The bowl was pretty filling but you have to pay extra for the toppings which I think it needed for that extra finesse (my extra jalapenos literally had little no spice)

Google
Great vegan milk shakes (I recommend the monster cookie). The chicken tenders and hot Buffalo chicken sandwich with tater tots were delicious. The place inside is small so not a lot of seating. Great for take out. Reminds me of a vegan kfc.

Yelp
Not a vegan. This is a vegan restaurant. I did know this prior to going. I had the pleasure of ordering with Lavender! Great customer focused service. Lavender was very patient and thorough and did not mind my many questions to make a final decision on the 2 piece meal. Let me say it is a filling meal. It was so filling I could NOT finish it in one seating. Now I will keep it 100, the biscuit comes out looking drier than dry but when you bite into it, your mouth is filled with the buttery texture. It is a bit misleading cause the biscuit look dry y'all! The " chick'n " is seitan or vital gluten and it is coated in this beautiful golden brown batter. If I recall correctly the same ingredients too. The seasoning is good. I had it served with the Mac and chz and it is coconut based ingredients. Now the Mac and chz has to be my favorite. It was creamy and actually had a good flavor. The butcher sauce is the choice sauce I had and it was impressive. I would definitely buy that again. The chick'n for ME personally was a no need to buy again, pregnant and MY " Wiggles " did not digest well. So... I am not a fan of the seitan though it is nothing with the presentation or such. Some vegan is not for everyone. The texture is something you have to adjust to especially cooked in this form. Just so it is clear to...I had seitan at another place too and was NOT a fan so it is NOT this establishment. I do say however the batter they use would be amazing on some cauliflower, some mushrooms, etc. This is definitely a small and intimate place with phenomenal service and great food just for ME again ME would return for other items. Parking can be a bit hectic if not familiar with the area but it is worth going in and taking the time to place an order.

Yelp
Since Father's Day typically involves barbecues and grilled meats, I thought that Herbie Butcher's would be quiet. Wrong! The whole time I was there, from looking at the menu to waiting for food to eating, there was a steady stream of takeout customers. Pro tip: it's good to order online. The food can take a while when it's busy. The space was well lit. I loved the mural of animals embracing foods and vegetables. It's too bad that it was very small, with three tables inside and one table outside. I'm not sure if there was a bathroom for customer use. The food was pretty good. I got the Caesar chicken wrap. It was a little dry until I got to the dressing part. The fried vegan chicken was tasty and had a nice crunch. The wrap was filling. I was hoping for more lettuce. Next time, I'll order the chicken Caesar salad. I was a little disappointed that they did not have more options for people who need to limit carbs, but that's to be expected at a fried chicken place. We also got fried pickles. They had a nice combination of salt, spice, and sour. I thought the breading was a little salty, and the ranch dressing helped dampen the salt. Overall, a good experience. The person at the counter was friendly, helpful, and patient. If we're in the neighborhood, we might be back!

Yelp
I am not a vegan or vegetarian eater, however, my sister Is and really wanted to try this and she would rate this 4/5. I've had vegan chicken nuggets before (nuggs) and I think the vegan meat tastes better in my opinion. The meat was not as good as I expected. They did fry it very well though. The tater tots were good, nothing too memorable though, the best thing was the Mac and cheese.

Ryann C.

Yelp
This is my go to for fried "chikin " . The first time was via door day and it arrived hot. It's so good even my reluctant meat eater loves it. The second time, we got a shake , a bucket and a sandwich combo . Absolutely Delicious! Amazing and friendly service. Not a lot of room to dine in . I will continue to eat from here as long as we're in Minnesota.

Emily Z.

Yelp
I am vegetarian so I've been to a lot of vegan chicken places. This was pretty decent! I liked the dipping sauces and crispiness of the 'chicken.' Would come back if in the area.

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
Great customer service! The best pieces of the chicken are the skinnier/ thin fried pieces. The chicken is just too thick and clunky; not even a non vegan would want to eat it. The ranch and Nashville hot sauce were delicious! Biscuits were dry. The baked beans were way too thick, not your classic baked beans. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland could use a little seasoning. Overall not a bad spot for vegan fried chicken. The batter on the chicken is great.

Debora T.

Yelp
"Chicken " was very good, crispy and seasoned well, tots were tasty, biscuits were ok but in the photos they looked really beautiful the mac & cheese was not good very dry no flavor, like it was sitting in a hot steam well for hours. Very disappointin!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but my experience fell flat. I had ordered a medium bucket which was a decent size to share with 4 pieces of chicken, 2 sauces, 2 sides, 2 biscuits and tots, and my friend got the same. The chicken was a little salty but crispy. The biscuits was good with the sweetened butter, but the mac salad was okay. I didn't like the rice- it could use more spices and was very one noted. Got the butcher sauce and honey mustard- both just okay. My friend got one of the hot sauces and she said it was overly thick. Service was very off- not sure if it was because they were short staffed? But for being open for two years, i thought it would have been smoother. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. My friend received her food well before I did and was missing biscuits which she didn't realize until I got my order 30 min later. When she went up to tell them there was obvious miscommunication with the kitchen because the biscuits weren't ready for her dine-in order so they were just going to put it with her takeout portion (she ordered extra to bring home). It would have been nice to know that the biscuits weren't ready because she did want to try it with her meal as she was eating it in the restaurant, and when she asked the first person where her biscuits were, the first person seemed confused before another person chimed in. I was also dining in but they put my order in a to go bag and put it in the back, which is why I had to wait for 30 min and the guy was like "oh yeah, if we call names and no one picks up its gets placed there" but neither my friend or i heard our name so i think he rang it wrong because another eat in person also received their order to go. Ambiance wise the restaurant is pretty small so there were a lot of takeout and delivery orders. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience and not sure I would come back. The 3 stars was because the chicken and biscuits were good, but not good enough for me to want to come back and wait another 30 min again for my order.

Yelp
Loved trying this meat-free fried chicken basket. They have several items on the menu that are all vegan. First- appearances are stunning. Looks exactly like chicken! As far as taste, I would say this won't fool a meat eater, but the texture and taste are pretty darn close. The meat alternative is very filling. I was only able to eat about two pieces. As far as whether it is healthier than chicken? I mean, it's still all fried... Definitely worth checking out, espeicially I'd say if you are transitioning to being vegan. I am participating in meatless March and this was a great way to get in protein, and maintain some of the taste of meat.

Joshua G.

Yelp
This fried chicken is vegan! And it's delicious. Take my money! Their chicken packs a pinch of flavors and is the perfect entree to their Mac and cheese.

Wyatt L.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. My partner and I love to go here and it is a treat that we always look forward to. It's a bit pricy, but the price is worth it for supporting a small business and a good cause (veganism).

Yelp
Herbie Butcher in downtown Minnesota is a vegan oasis, redefining comfort food with a plant-based twist. The menu at Herbie Butcher brilliantly recreates classic comfort dishes without compromising on flavor or innovation. From mouthwatering burgers to soul-soothing pasta, each dish is a testament to the culinary possibilities of vegan cuisine. The downtown location adds to the vibrancy of the experience, making it a convenient and enticing choice for those seeking delectable vegan comfort food. Herbie Butcher stands out as a culinary gem, showcasing that indulgence and compassion can seamlessly coexist in the heart of Minnesota's downtown scene.

Yelp
ve had. You really don't miss the meat with this fried chicken. We tried the"fried chicken" and the steak bites and the chicken was a definite win. The steak bites were great but jus not "steaky". Also the Mac and cheese and tater tots are a big YES from us!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Small dining area, only about 3 or 4 tables which we did not know until arriving. Good vegan food though! Fried pickles and ranch were great!

Kedar D.

Yelp
This is a tough review to write. I love The Herbivorous Butcher (it got a super-rare 5 stars from me) and I love the idea of a vegan fried chicken shop. But Herbie Butcher's failed to impress and simply isn't a place I can heartily recommend, nor a place I will visit often. It's cool, it's interesting, it's fun. But is it amazing with delicious food? No. I got the "Medium bucket" ($23) which consists of four pieces of fried chicken, two biscuits and a bed of tater tots. You also get two sides with it. This was enough for at least four meals, not least in part because the food is so heavy and filling. The chicken's crunchy outer coating is nicely done, but damn is it salty. I mean, it's so salty that it's hard to eat. Both my girlfriend and I had upset stomachs after eating only one piece each. The chicken itself has a dry starchy texture and isn't as juicy as I'd hope. This is strange because The Herbivorous Butcher has wonderfully moist and robust meats. The biscuit, however, was fabulous: light, airy, flaky and buttery. The tater tots were fine. Lastly, the mac and cheese side dish was atrocious. It was one of the worst vegan mac and cheeses I've ever had, with a gloopy, off-putting cheese that had terrible flavor and color. It was barely edible and we threw it away after a few bites. I'm disappointed that Herbie Butcher's isn't better. It has so much potential and maybe it'll improve with time.

Yelp
I love visiting MSP because they have some of the best vegan food options. So when I learned I was going, I saved all of my gluten days in preparation for Herbie's Fried Chicken. I ordered the small bucket for $15.99: 2pc fried chicken with tater tots, a maple-butter biscuit, another side of your choice, and one sauce. They only have 3 sides from which you can choose: coleslaw, mac n cheese, and tots. I have never eaten/liked coleslaw or mac n cheese so extra tots were the only option. (They wouldn't let me choose an extra biscuit as the additional side.) The chicken was so good! The extra crispy "skin" was my favorite part. I loved the Butcher's sauce with the chicken (it's hard to explain the taste; it's mild but delicious). I bought extra sauces to try. The honee mustard sauce was equally yum. I didn't care for the Nashville hot sauce; it just didn't taste good to me. The maple-butter biscuit was disappointing. My biscuits may have been overcooked (I paid for an extra one). They were not soft and fluffy like biscuits are supposed to be. The maple-butter was delicious though. Tots were good and well seasoned. I also tried a specialty shake - Strawberry Shortcake. It was so good! But the straw they give you is too small to handle this shake. You can't suck up strawberry bites and cake chunks with such a small circumference. They should invest in specialty-size straws for the specialty shakes and/or give you a spoon. My hope is that they continue to improve. Maybe adding more sides, like a creamy potato salad (nothing cheesy though, like Herbivorous Butcher loves to do to their potato salad). I'd definitely return when in the area again, but it's way too gluten-heavy to eat on a regular basis.

Yelp
One bite in and I knew exactly how this Yelp review was going to go!! As a lifelong vegetarian, I never experienced the satisfaction of getting a chicken dinner from Bojangles/Popeye's/KFC etc. But thanks to Herbie Butcher's FC, I no longer feel like I have missed out! Let's start with the main event: the friend "chicken" was AMAZING, and deserves 10+ stars. I can't stop thinking of that crunchy exterior. The biscuit was just okay in my opinion, didn't melt in my mouth and seemed a little undercooked in spots. Mac n Cheese tasted just like what you would get out of a box (not at all a bad thing in my opinion) I could have done without the tater tots though...they were good but felt out of place with the rest of the meal. As a former resident of NC I wish they were hush puppies instead, as that would have made for the perfect meal. My SO and I split the 2 piece bucket and it was more than enough food. We barely touched the tots since we were so full from everything else.

Bryan F.

Yelp
A1, truly GOATED with the sauce Service, Fire Food, Fire My want to go back, max The only vegan chicken I've ever had that came even close, I had to go all the way to DC to try and still doesn't beat here.

Allie S.

Yelp
My husband (not vegan) and I (vegan) went here last week for lunch. We shared the medium bucket which consists of: 4 pieces fried "chicken" 2 biscuits and tater tots. The medium bucket also comes with your choice of two sides and two sauces. We got the macaroni & cheese and coleslaw for sides and the Nashville hot sauce and butcher sauce as our sauces. The chicken and the Nashville hot sauce were my favorite and the husband liked the coleslaw and tater tots. The chicken was perfectly crunchy without being greasy (huge plus). It was especially good with the Nashville hot sauce which added the perfect amount of acid and heat. The tater tots were also great, crispy and salty (but how could you mess up a tot?). The biscuits, macaroni and cheese and coleslaw were all okay, but nothing special. Overall definitely worth a try.

Renel A.

Yelp
The food here is so good, the chicken was so crispy and flavorful. I loved the chicken sandwich the same, and the pickle made the sandwich. The seasoning on the tots had me wanting more.

Maggie H.

Yelp
It's been so nice to see how Herbie's has adapted through the pandemic. When they announced this place would be opening I was so excited to finally have vegan chicken options but I was also very worried about their success, fast forward - they're doing awesome! I think I've ordered out at least three time so far since they've opened and I always try to taste everything but their specials sell out so fast! Needless to say, their actual chicken is phenomenal. It brings me back to my days of eating chicken selects at McD's. Their ranch has always been my favorite vegan version and their honey mustard is great too! The tots are great and plentiful, there's always leftovers. Their mozza sticks are fresh and delicious and their shakes are perfection. Mashed potatoes when they have them are good, very garlicky! I didn't care for their creamed corn.

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
You know it's good when it impresses non-vegans! Since going dairy free, and trying to limit my meat consumption, I've been craving Herbie Butchers weekly. So, for a recent double date night, I suggested it to my meat-and-potatoes crowd. I think they were skeptical at first... but now they're converts. To start, I ordered the bacon cheddar sticks because I've been missing mozzarella sticks/cheese curds. I don't miss them any more. The cheese is spot on and the gooeyness made me so happy. I especially love how crunchy the outside is. We each got a bucket. The chicken pieces are MASSIVE. And the rolls and honey butter are to die for. We got mashed potatoes and hot dish for sides, and both were great but we all liked the mashed potatoes and gravy best. The tots are really good for mopping up sauce. Speaking of sauce, the ranch and sweet heat sauces are the way to go. I'm drooling just writing about them. And the shakes... that night, I had cherry cordial, but I came back the next week for grasshopper. They're thick and flavorful but don't give me an insane sugar rush. 100/10, please never leave, Herbie Butchers! In fact, please expand!

Brandon M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the sandwich more than the meal. Probably one of the better vegan sandwiches I've had. Definitely worth a try.

Ronald C.

Yelp
I was honestly not expecting much and boy were my expectations wildly exceeded. I am not a vegan so I was thinking vegan versions of favorites like fried chicken, mac and cheese, ranch sauce, and biscuits couldn't possibly be good but I was just dead wrong. The shop here is very small, only 4 small tables, but the food packs a PUNCH. Lots of delicious seasonings on every bit of the "chicken." The mac and cheese totally had me fooled and so did my yummy chocolate peanut butter milk shake (so sweet though!) The prices are high but honestly we got soooo much food! My only quibble was the biscuit. Although everyone else at my table loved them, I found them lacking. Honestly the best part of a biscuit is the buttery, flaky taste and you just can't get that with a vegan version. Will I be back? Oh yeah.

Jaime P.

Yelp
I visited during a weekend trip to Minneapolis. It had been on my list of places to try and it did not disappoint. The moment I enter the establishment the person at the front counter was immediately warm and welcoming, when I asked them their favorites on the menu they had a long list to choose from, which is super promising. Ultimately I chose the small bucket which came with two pieces of chicken and tater tot's on the bottom of the bucket. I opted for the mac & cheese with fried chicken skin on top and it also came with a maple butter biscuit. Everything was seasoned perfectly and it was piping hot when I got my meal. I am just bummed that there's nothing like it on the East Coast, because I would definitely be a repeat customer.

James P.

Yelp
No cash, no restrooms, no parking lot, mediocre food. If you are really desperate for fake chicken and you can walk there, it works.

Natalia M.

Yelp
Consistently great vegan chicken and sauces. A bit pricey but they're the best in the business, it's worth it. Sides are hit or miss, so we just skip them now. It's nice to have the option to do that with the buckets they offer! So glad y'all are in town.

Kara J.

Yelp
I have been a vegan leaning vegetarian for at least 10 years now, I've also eaten at many of the best plant based eateries in many large cities in the US. This is the best fake fried chicken I have ever had. The mashed potatoes are creamy like what I remember from meat chicken places when I was young. The bbq sauce is a must! I loved it. The maple butter for the biscuits also great. The biscuits are fine. I also really liked the buffalo sandwich I had. I highly recommend this place. Only down side is the limited seating.

Cassie M.

Yelp
Holy moly portion sizes, Herbieman! A medium bucket is enough for two people to have three meals. It all tasted good, just so! much! food! The "chicken" pieces are enormous. And beware, tons of heavy breading. I personally liked the mashed potatoes best of everything, and my boyfriend was a fan of the "bacon" creamed corn. We both loved the tots and deliciously buttery biscuit, although somehow made without actual butter? Magic. I'm eager to try an oat milk shake come summertime.

Granpa T.

Yelp
The chicken sandwich was wonderful I would definitely recommend. Very crispy, quality was very good. Staff at the restaurant were incredible.

Melissa C.

Yelp
When traveling I always search vegan restaurants and this place popped up. I had to try it because it sounded amazing. And it was! Highly recommend this place. Tried the chicken, biscuits, tots, and Mac and cheese. Honey mustard and bbq sauces along with the amazing maple butter for the biscuits. The place is small with not much seating so you may have to take to go. Either way, it's worth it.

Tim M.

Yelp
I feel like I need to set the record straight right off the bat. This is not a fried chicken restaurant. There is no fried chicken here. It's an all-vegan place that sells deep fried vegan "faux chicken" pieces. I'm from out of town and not familiar with the "Herbivorous Butcher". I searched Yelp for "Fried Chicken" and assumed the place sold actual fried chicken given the name of the restaurant. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but the name of the place is misleading, particularly for an out of towner. We are not vegan, but nonetheless figured we'd give it a go since we were already there and the place had amazing Yelp reviews. Ordered the 2 piece "chicken" bucket with cole slaw and Mac & Cheese. It came with tater tots and a biscuit. We ordered the bbq and Nashville hot sauces. First, the good. The biscuit was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the maple "butter" served with it was the highlight of the meal. The tater tots were crispy and paired great with the bbq sauce. Both sauces were respectable. Now the not so good... Let me be honest here. If you're not vegan, the rest of this food is going to taste funky. And it did to us. The fried "chicken", the cole slaw, and the Mac and cheese really need an "acquired" taste. Vegans may be used to these flavors, but we had difficulty with them and we're fairly adventurous eaters. The menu literally reads "2 pieces chicken". There is no chicken here. Sorry guys, I think you need be more clear about what you're selling here.

Rich C.

Yelp
We gave it 2 times to see if it would be a regular family meal to splurge on weekends from time to time. We got the XL meal and Large meals on our visits. The fried chicken is really good, not great. The flavor is more bland but has good texture. The sauce for the chicken is good not great. The biscuits are great. The Mac and cheese is ok. The cold slaw is absolutely awful, even the employee agreed with us on the last visit. The shakes are good but hard to drink. The last trip was we ordered a 6 piece meal and it was missing a piece so that was another disappointment. I probably would only go back to grab the chicken and biscuits but it's no rush. I love the concept but overall it has been a disappointment both times we had it.

Ari S.

Yelp
Just updating my review from last time I was here (summer 2021) - still great! We shared Smash'd Bols and a honee chicken sandwich and I got a peanut butter shake. I knew I had accidentally added some kind of add-in to the shake while online ordering, but it was a surprise when it turned out to be cookies that tasted more than a little bit like mint LOL! That was my mistake. Not entirely bad but I wouldn't make it again. The Smash'd Bols were very good, although I felt they needed more rounding out to make them more savory. Perhaps more corn? Overall they made a nice big meal though! The honee chicken sandwich was massive! I don't know how anyone could finish it - it was extremely heavy - but wow so tasty and the honee mustard was fantastic! As always, I love this place! I'll be back next time I'm in the twin cities.

Phillip N.

Yelp
The absolute BEST vegan fried chicken I've had since becoming vegetarian 4 years ago! 10/10 would recommend! Loved all of the food and their special sauce! The biscuit and maple butter also just melted in your mouth. Cannot rave enough about this place!

Steve F.

Yelp
Wonderful indulgence for plant-based peoples and curious carnivores. The taste, portions, and of course the people are all on point. Kale & Aubrey put love into their food and the craftsmanship shows. If you've been waiting, go today!

Katherine L.

Yelp
This was a pretty mixed bag for me, though I'm probably closer to 3.5 stars than 3. The biscuits, 'butter', mashed potatoes, and tater tots were great, but the 'chicken' and sauces left a lot to be desired. The breading on the 'chicken' was crispy and flavorful, but the 'meat' was chewy and horrible, the sauces didn't really offer much flavor, and the buffalo sauce was actually solid and pretty gross. As good as the biscuits and potatoes were though, I can't really see myself going back, it seems a little pointless given the 'chicken'.

I really enjoyed my lunch so much that tomorrow I have to go to the restaurant because I need to taste it coming out the grease as I order if lol.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! We got the Blue Fire Chicken sandwich & the Chicken sandwich + tots & mac. The ranch was amazing! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Decent. The sauce on the sandwich is strange. I'll be back. Was back. It wasn't as good as I had hoped. There is something off about the grease. Otherwise, it's great for being vegan. Worth to try even for the experience.

Yelp
What a joy to stumble across this spot this afternoon. I'm not a vegan by any means but also not super in love with an excess amount of meat. How exciting to find something so delicious so close to home! With that being said I ordered the "Small bucket" -two pieces of chicken, tots, a biscuit and your choice of small side. I chose the Mac and cheese. The chicken was so crisp and big in portion size. Can't go wrong with tots (perfect amount of seasoning) and the MAC!!!! I'm used to vegan Mac being a bit dry and actually not usually super bothered by the dryness because the taste is usually pretty good. But this Mac was so creamy! Have never had a vegan Mac this creamy! Biscuit was average, but who cares, no ones coming just for a biscuit. It def completed the southern experience. Lol. As for sauces I chose the ranch, Buffalo and Tennessee hot. Ranch to die for, along with Buffalo too. Wasn't the biggest fan of the Tennessee hot but I think had I of tossed chicken with it, it would have made more sense! Overall, a delicious experience and I will definitely be going back! Also, who ever was at the counter (in the window) today 8/6 -she was so pleasant and had great customer service. Thanks for a great lunch and pleasant service!

Yelp
Having vegan fast food in the area is a treasure. We had the chicken, biscuits, mac n cheese (with the crunchies), cole slaw, tator tots and a strawberry shake. Everything was good. The biscuits and the maple butter with them were our favorite part. The vegan chicken was moist and we particularly enjoyed the coating. The strawberry shake was very good (I don't always love non-dairy ice cream but this was a joy.) We'd recommend trying the butcher sauce. They were hiring and we saw that starting salary is 16/hr, with benefits for full time employees. That is absolutely a value added for us. My sweetie would get the mac n cheese without the crunchies next time. I'd eat a whole side of just the crunchies if they had it, so that's a matter of taste. Next time we'd get a 2 piece bucket, an extra biscuit and a shake to share for the two of us. It would be plenty of food. I wish there was an option for a thinner piece of chicken in the same batter, but as mentioned above, I'd probably eat the crunchy coating all on its own too.

Yelp
Sucks it's only card. Only have cash. Thanks a lot. Came from maple grove to try and was let down.

Yelp
Ordered the 4-piece bucket with a PB and chocolate malt for two of us. Malts and biscuits included in the basket were SO GOOD. The biscuits were better than any biscuit I've had, vegan or not!! The chicken was decent, quite good when dipped in their house made sauce, the tots yummy! The mac and cheese wasn't my favorite, but if I were vegan I'd probably enjoy it a lot. I appreciate the mission and that they pay their employees a decent wage. Very glad to have this option in town! ...I'm still thinking about those biscuits.

Yelp
Absolutely Amazing! Started with the Biscuit on the ride home - melt in your mouth. Dove into the Tater Tots after that - Great. Then THE CHICK'N - what the Butchers do with this is out of this world. Almost forgot about the Mac n CheeZ - my son Gobbled that up on his own. Best time is Mid-Day to avoid the lines or wait.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Herbies Fried Chicken and I finally got the chance last week. I love the concept of ordering a bucket of fried chicken with sides and you get a ton of food with your order. The chicken itself was delicious and you could hardly tell it was vegan. The tator tots were delicious and crisp and so where the biscuits and honey butter. My husband was skeptical about a vegan biscuit but he devoured his. For the sides we ordered Mac n cheese and coleslaw. I love coleslaw but sadly they messed up our to-go order and we didn't realize until we got home that we only got the Mac n cheese, which was delicious, but I wish we could have gotten our full order. The vegan food was a bit salty for me, but I enjoyed all the food. I would definitely recommend if your vegan or vegetarian and want that satisfying taste and crunch of fried chicken.

Yelp
Loooove this place. The fried "chicken" is very good. The biscuits and maple butter are so delicious. Not a big fan of the coleslaw tho. Not sure what it is but there's an herb or something added that I didn't like. A bitter taste. I do like the Mac and cheese tho. Has a sharp cheddar flavor. I've tried the bbq and honey mustard sauce and both are good. Be sure to get there early tho. First time I came I got there at 11 and there was already a decent line. Second time I got there at 10:45 and I was first person in line. Also the second time they forgot my maple butter for my biscuits so be sure to check your bag.

Yelp
I love a vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurant!! This place is one of my new favorites for when I'm craving a hearty meal. Even my meat-eating husband and friends enjoyed this place because the food was great and pretty darn close to the real deal. One thing to note: when you order the bucket of chicken it comes with tator tots on the bottom of the bucket so I recommend trying a different side when you choose sides otherwise you'll have a whole lotta tots!

Yelp
I have been looking forward to trying this chicken, and it did not disappoint. The outside is crispy and well-seasoned, and the inside was delicious. I'm always slightly wary of seitan but this was fabulous. I'm already looking forward to going back. One important note, as I've read some of the other reviews, yes this is vegan. :)
