The 23 Best Sushi Restaurants in Tokyo, from Michelin Star Omakase to Conveyer Belt Bars | Condé Nast Traveler

"With two Michelin stars and only eight counter seats, this is one of the city’s toughest reservations to score. But Masamichi Amamoto’s flawlessly executed sushi and theatrical panache are worth the effort. Fortunately, new guests can now book via online concierge services. Pristine seasonal ingredients—like hiragomasaba mackerel, gloriously patterned with blue and black stripes, or live botan shrimp, served with karasumi mullet roe—are at the heart of Amamoto’s philosophy. Cooked dishes, such as the exquisitely grilled nodoguro black-throat sea perch, demonstrate his sharp eye for detail." - Melinda Joe

The Sushi Guide

Google
Possibly the best we've ever had after over 1000 sushi meals. Been to several Tabelog Gold Omakase bars (sugita, arai, namba), and this stands out. Spectacular and exceeds all expectations

One of the few well-known spots that actually deliver on the hype. Just appreciate the plump look of every piece. Also the rare appearance of minke whale belly(畝須), where 50:50 of fat:muscle ratio is said to be the most delicious. Charming owner also makes it an intimate experience. Indulge in the cute anecdotes on the friendship between him and Kataori(Kanazawa) too :p

One of our favourite sushi restaurants. We had a friend help us get a seat and we feel very lucky to have experienced this. The room gets Smokey when Amamoto san sets fire to the hay but it’s all part of the experience! We loved it!

This is the best sushi in the world, providing me with the most incredible experience and emotions. I would travel all the way from Taiwan to Tokyo specifically for this place, as long as there's availability.

Beautiful Sushi🤩 The owner-chef picks sake right for sushi. Its spend is about 40,000-50,000yen/person.

One of the top rated sushi restaurants in Tokyo. The kuruma-ebi and katsuo are the highlights of the meal. Notoriously difficult to get a reservation at, but worth a visit if you have the opportunity.

Maybe the hardest sushi booking in Tokyo right now (I went 4 years ago and haven't been able to score a res since). Some review complained about not being able to walk in, lol. This isn't Nobu bro. Impeccable sourcing alongside solid sushi is the big differentiator for me. A lot of attention paid to variety, quality and progression. It ain't bad to see a whole katsuo get smoked over wara in the dining room, either. Weird side note: seems they have a wide variety of French reds on the beverage list, and they are popular with regulars.

You cannot walk in. Their next reservations are 4 months away. Not mentioned on their website or on Google. I was turned away.
