Craft beer, coffee, snacks, wine - all day
"High Low Beverage Company, a Vietnamese cafe and bar, also closed this week. Owners Shriver Tran and Jaime Hodgkin announced the news on Instagram last month: 'The hospitality industry is an extremely difficult business even in the best of times,' the post states. 'The obstacles we continue to face have become insurmountable.' The owners met while working at Stumptown Coffee. They opened High Low in 2020 with pandan doughnuts and Vietnamese iced coffees, but the menu grew to include banh mi and bowls of bún bò huế chay. It closed on January 31." - Luke Fortney
"High Low Beverage Company, a Vietnamese cafe in Bushwick, will be shutting down. The owners cited insurmountable obstacles as the reason for the closure. The last day will be January 31." - Luke Fortney
"Right off the Myrtle Wyckoff L/M stop in Bushwick, there’s a Vietnamese-inspired all-day cafe and bar where you can choose from three different SEY coffees, take in the lush plants lining the green and white-tiled counter space, and drink out of beautifully handcrafted ceramic cups. Owned by Shriver Tran and her partner Jaime Hodgkin, High Low opened during the pandemic, and despite the many challenges they’ve faced, it’s here to stay. The concept continues to evolve, but the influence of Vietnamese flavors is a mainstay throughout the menu. Our favorites are the pandan coconut donut and sparkling lemongrass green tea, both of which are a nod to Tran’s Vietnamese heritage. Also, if you’re into natural wine or craft beer, head straight to the bookshelves for a wide selection available by the bottle, glass, or can." - Esther Cho, With Warm Welcome, Kenny Yang
"Off the Myrtle Wyckoff L/M train stop in Bushwick, there’s a Vietnamese-inspired all-day cafe and bar where you can choose from three different SEY coffees, take in the lush plants lining the green and white-tiled counter space, and drink out of beautifully handcrafted ceramic cups. Owned by Shriver Tran, who is Vietnamese American, and her partner Jaime Hodgkin, High Low opened during the pandemic and despite the many challenges they’ve faced, it’s here to stay. Their cafe concept continues to evolve, but a mainstay is the influence of Vietnamese flavors in their food and drinks. My favorites are the pandan coconut donut and sparkling lemongrass green tea, both of which are a nod to Tran’s Vietnamese heritage. Also, if you’re into natural wines or beers, head straight to the bookshelves for a wide selection available by the bottle, glass, or can. Outdoor seating is available in the front and backyard every Tuesday to Thursday from 11-9pm, Friday to Saturday from 9-10pm, and Sunday from 9-8pm." - Esther Cho & With Warm Welcome
"On the surface, High Low Beverage Company looks and sounds like a beer bar. And while that’s true, this Bushwick spot is also a Vienamese restaurant and bakery serving banana muffins baked in banana leaf, pandan doughnuts filled with sour cherry lime leaf jam, and miso scallion scones. This lineup of incredible baked goods is only available Friday-Sunday, and if the weather’s nice you try them all at a patio table in High Low’s spacious backyard. Check their Instagram for updates on specials like their “Mom’s Pop-Up” with phở and bún bò huế." - Nikko Duren
