Great place! It has its own rustic style that I love, high ceiling I just love it! Highly recommend to book in advance as it is very popular! The food is generous and the coffee is good! They have an open kitchen so that's cool! kids friendly! Wheelchair friendly and great atmosphere for a date or a catch up!

I booked breakfast for 7:30 in the morning & expected to be just us! But this place was packed! Probably because it gives a vintage ambiance. Their menu stands out with a range of inventive & diverse dishes It’s a bit pricey but you get a large portion ( I couldn’t finish ricotta pancakes) It’s good to try at least once

Came here for breakfast on a cool winter’s morning, after having a quick look at their menu online. I was sure I was having the ricotta and blueberry hotcake, but when I got here and looked at the menu properly, I decided on the avocado and poached egg on a pretzel. Coupled with a coffee, I had the most satisfying and delicious breakfast! Located right across the road from Southern Cross Station, it would make the perfect stop after arriving in Melbourne. It is an old power station type building and you would expect it to be a bit cold inside, but no. It was cosy without being hot. I hope you enjoy your meal here as much as I did.

Nice restaurant that I was highly anticipating but it fell a little short. The restaurant itself is simply stunning, would make for an incredible venue for a special event. Coffee was exceptional, but service felt a little cold, forced, and the hotcakes were drowned in maple syrup making it just far too sweet for me to enjoy. It’s on the pricier side, $30 for ricotta hotcakes is definitely a little steep. I rate it well for a casual solo meal however, they have fantastic bench seating that overlooks the restaurant.

Higher Ground is a popular brunch spot in Melbourne for a good reason. It is a bit more expensive than other brunch places. What makes them so unique however is their special twist on absolute brunch classics. I am very happy we visited this place and had a great time. I would recommend going! We did not reserve beforehand, and therefore had to wait a bit before we were seated. However, we could just walk around a bit because they called when there was a spot. This was handled very well in my opinion! The one downside of the beautiful venue is that, because it is so big and open, it is a bit on the louder side.

The high ceiling made the noise more bearable inside the cafe as the tables were slightly close to one another. Food was great, loved the whole presentation when it was served and it tasted as great as it looks. The ricotta hotcake was really dense yet the different elements in the plate balanced out the whole taste, though I would recommend two persons sharing one of it (it can get a little too much halfway through). I really enjoyed the Dark Rye & Chive Waffle. Portion was generous and I would rave about the waffle! Staff were really friendly and would come to check on you once in a while to make sure you’re okay. Would definitely want to revisit to try their Crab Benedict & Chilli Scrambles Eggs.

By far the worst breakfast experience I have ever had. Host was the best thing about the place. Waitress hadn’t a clue what she was in about didn’t know any of the specials and served a brownie without telling us there were berries in it that was an allergy. Bircher should be taken immediately off the menu as it was just not good at all. And the scrambled eggs on toast came out poached with no butter which when replaced was put on the same cold slices of toast.

Love the ricotta hot cakes. To me, the portion was huge, it is better to share the sweet and order another savory selections for yourself. We tried several dishes and everything was good. The food and service were nice, we love the place and we visited this restaurant twice in our short trip. And we would love to dine here again when we visited Melbourne in another time.
