"After just six months, Downtown Brooklyn's Hill Country Food Park has closed. The space for the Hill Country food hall, which was styled after Austin restaurants, will soon be a new food hall. Hank's Saloon will remain open until June." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

"Hill Country Food Park features a breakfast kiosk named South Congress with coffee, doughnuts, and breakfast tacos from King David Tacos; a pizza stand named Austino’s, a “Mex-Tex” stall with tamales, burgers and margaritas, as well as the namesake barbecue and fried chicken spots." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Downtown Brooklyn is now home to Hill Country Food Park, a food hall inspired by the food trucks of Austin, Texas — all run by the team behind the popular barbecue restaurant Hill Country. Debuting Monday, November 26, the indoor food “park” is modeled after food truck parks that owners Marc Glosserman and Kristen Glosserman routinely visit in Austin, where people eat on outdoor picnic tables under hanging lights." - Carla Vianna

"New York is attempting to honor Texas food with a new food hall called the Hill Country Food Park. The food hall is meant to take its inspiration from 'the original Austin food truck movement of the 1990s.' The six stalls will serve up breakfast tacos, Hill Country barbecue, Hill Country fried chicken, tacos, and other foods. It’s courtesy of New York’s essential barbecue spot Hill Country Barbecue Market. Can this be done well? Chef Steve Ferdinand, who is overseeing the food hall, doesn’t seem to have any Texas cooking experience." - Nadia Chaudhury

"The Downtown Brooklyn spaces that once housed both Hill Country Fried Chicken and Hill Country Barbecue Market will soon be combined and replaced with an Austin-inspired food hall called Hill Country Food Park. The 10,000-square-foot space will feature six stalls offering breakfast tacos, donuts, coffee, Hill Country barbecue, Hill Country fried chicken, pizza, burgers, tacos, and salads. Seating will be available, and a full bar and live music will be introduced later. The company anticipates a mid-summer opening." - Serena Dai

The new layout is very nice and open. There is seating on the main floor and more upstairs. For the kids there's also skeetball for them to play. A little annoying the bathrooms are upstairs, but at least there's an elevator as an option. The workers we interacted with were very nice and all smiles joking around and very pleasant. Pretty fun to have different food booths ranging from fried chicken to BBQ to pizza to dessert/coffee. Food was alright. From the BBQ the moist brisket was the best as it was the juiciest and not too fatty, but the rest was a bit dry. Fried chicken strips were tasty, but also a bit heavy on the deep frying part so was also a little dry. Got decent coffee at the dessert booth along with donuts. The donuts were a mixed bag between moist (blueberry which was the best) to dry (the chocolate which made it not good). Fun to try, but not enough to pull me back here.

Great place for a lunch that will definitely fill you up! Coworker had brisket with two sides while I had 4 pieces of fried chicken with seasoned fries. On this day they had a promo for every two pieces of fried chicken you get a free order of fries. It caught me off guard for such a generous promo but won’t say no to the second order for the table.

I have always passed this place in Hope of one day having the courage to walk on in and listen to the great live music that was playing. Next thing I knew, the place was closed for renovations... I thought to myself, "Well, there's goes another good place off into the sunset!" The next thing I knew, I finally got up the nerve to go inside... Only to find out that the place that was once a huge jazz place has now become a "Texas-Style" Food Court! Once inside, you can see the new changes to the place. They now houses smaller booths for folks to either eat in, or take out.. The food varies from Mexican food to BBQ Food.. The ambiance has a sort of Country Twang. The music has a mixture of Oldies and Country.. An interesting mix of "Southern Comfort" The upstairs has a bar called "Hanks" where folks come together to socialize, chat to the Bartender their nightly woe of relationships, life, and so on and so. The food is pretty good..So far I tried their Collards, Cole Slaw, and my favorite... Mac & Cheese! #YUM! What I find interesting is that there are no paper plates..they serve the food on the trays! With barbeque sauce to boot! When it comes to paying for your food, there is no cash.. you either pay by credit card or a "cash card" you put whatever amount of money on the card, and you use the card to pay for your food. On Wednesday nights, they have Live performances, from rockabilly to oldies.. Add some women's bands, and you have a great deal.. If you ever in the downtown Brooklyn area, and you want to treat yourself to some good eating, go on down to Hill Country Food Park.. Great for friends and family.. "Yee-Haw!!"🤠🤠🤠👢👢🤠

My first time in this place was yesterday. I had the chicken and waffles. I found the fried chicken breast too small and too greasy. I tasted the salt but nothing else. The waffle was average. I heard the tenders are good. I might venture back for that. There's nothing like first time around. They leave a lasting impression.

I had the Texas Tenders and they were quite good! Chicken was moist and tasty, the breading was unique and delicious, and the honey mustard sauce was excellent. The biscuit was a bit hard and over done, but it tasted great. The coleslaw... I rarely say anything about side dishes but... that was quite possibly the best coleslaw I have ever had. Ever. I really liked that the soda selection was Boylen's brand instead of the usual suspects. Black cherry soda! Woohooo!

The lunch specials (1 meat + 2 sides, 2 meats + 2 sides, 3 meats + 2 sides) are good values for the money and plenty enough for a filling meal. Their moist brisket is the most popular dish for a good reason. Also, try the sausages! Service is somewhat strange where the waiter bring you your drinks and bill. But you have to go up to the countertop to order your food and bring it back to your table yourself. So why the servers?

I tried the hill country chicken which was very disappointing. I paid $6 for one leg and one thigh, no side. The pieces were very small and a little dry (see pic). I also got a Tamale from Nickies. The taste was fine, but again it was dry. The only reason for two stars is the establishment is nice. I will go back to try the BBQ, because the Hill Country brisket that I had in the past was good.

although this is typically a lunch/dinner spot, I stopped in for a quick breakfast and was not disappointed. I had the nutella banana donut from du's donuts- delicious! plus no one is there in the morning, which means the skee ball machines are open :)
