Unassuming Nepalese eatery serving traditional stews & curries in a cozy, brightly painted interior.
"Himalayan House is a Nepali strip mall spot near USC where you can order a thali of various curries for under $20. That’s a great deal for broke college students or anyone in the area looking for a flavorful (and spicy) meal for not too much money. You’ll want to order some of Himalayan House’s juicy momos. These steamed dumplings aren’t filled with soup (trust us, we’ve looked), but each one is so succulent you’d think it contained a big spoonful of Campbell’s. The minced chicken filling has a slight sweetness from garlic and onion, which makes these Nepali dumplings mild in a comforting way. For a bigger punch of flavor, add a few dabs of the fiery tomato-sesame hot sauce on the side." - Sylvio Martins
"For top-notch Indian and Nepalese food near campus, Himalayan House is the obvious choice. Though the restaurant’s exterior appears small and unassuming, the menu is quite the opposite, as it boasts a wide array of classic Indian dishes like chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, as well as steamed momo dumplings. The mixed tandoori platter is a stellar choice for those who want to dabble in an array of flavorful protein options, while the yak meat is also worth a try for those feeling adventurous." - Cathy Park
