Yelp
Himalayan is one of my (if not THE) favorite restaurants in the Cities; so much so that my husband and I had them cater our wedding.
I've been coming to Himalayan since they were at their tiny old location and the food has always been a 10/10. The staff are kind and helpful and I love that the owner is always bopping around the restaurant. Our experience with their catering service was top tier, too.
The space itself is cozy and spacious, with plenty of tables. There can be a wait on busy nights, but it seems like a lot of the traffic up front is for pickup orders. They have a large parking lot that does tend to fill up, but there's always street parking available nearby. The main bathrooms are down a flight of stairs with no elevator, but the staff kindly pointed my handicapped father in the direction of a main-level bathroom to avoid those stairs, so it's nice to have that option.
I'm a creature of habit when it comes to Himalayan, so I will always order the Palak Paneer (mild-medium to medium spicy) and Garlic Naan. The curry is creamy, thick, and delicious, with large chunks of paneer and smaller pieces of tomato blended in. Each dish is served with a healthy boat full of rice as well! The naan is crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, smothered in (I assume) butter or oil, topped with delicious chunks of garlic.
My husband always orders the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is absolutely a classic. It's very similar to the Palak Paneer in its creamy deliciousness, but he tends to order his spicier.
If you're going with a group, I would absolutely recommend getting the Himalayan Platter (1 Samosa, 2 Vegetable Momo, 2 Meat Kothe and 4 Pyaazi)--it's the perfect variety of appetizers to try and includes enough to share. Plus, the sauces that it comes with are delicious (we usually save them for our main meal).
Honestly, if I could give this place a 100, I would. I bring all of my out of town visitors here, it just never misses. Absolutely give it a go!
