A long-running metro classic that reopened in Chamblee with a loyal following for vindaloo, biryani, and a balanced spice range. Covered by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and appreciated for consistency and value.

This place was great. From the food to the service. Everything was delicious. I would definitely come back.

Went to Himalaya’s for Sunday brunch. It was as amazing as their usual menu. I got the Bombay Smash Bagel and it was 11/10. So good. I will be back as soon as possible.

The fried assorted veggies are just a 3. The batter is soft and good texture cooked just right it is unseasoned ☹️. I had to eat it with the chutney. The roti was fine. The gobi manchurian needs help the sauce tastes like it came out of a jar. Overall the food lacked the unique fair and taste of Indian food. The quality of the food was fine it is missing the unique Indian spices. The outside dining area is pretty.

We had a fantastic experience this week at Himalayas! The food was delicious and the service was great. We decided to sit outside and enjoyed the overall atmosphere. Misty waited on us and had a great personality for the service industry. The staff was great about recommendations and helping us enjoy exactly what we wanted. We will definitely be going back!

Google
Naan is the best ever I have in town, butter chicken is spicy flavor. But it has flies in the restaurant 😢

Google
The staff was nice and the service was good too. We didn’t like the food as it didn’t taste like Indian food. The Rohan josh had more of tomato based gravy and lacked the Indian flavors. They didn’t had lamb appetizer we asked for so we changed it to shish kabob which also lacked in Indian taste and flavor. The garlic naan was good and the quantity of rice which comes with entree was also good.Their mango lassi was good too. We would try other Indian restaurants over this.

Google
The staff are really nice and the food was good, but not amazing. The garlic naan was really good. The sampler appetizer wasn't great. The food was dry and didn't seem fresh. The chana masala and tofu curry were good but not the flavors I'm used to for those dishes. They were more tomato based and not very flavorful. Maybe it's because we got mild. I would go again and try different dishes but there are so many amazing Indian restaurants around that I would choose first.

Google
Himalayas saved us! They provided enough food for 30 people last minute for our party. Not only were they professional and kind, the food was delicious and we got a lot of compliments on our choice of restaurant for the party. We got a full order of Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka, rice, naan, and another large dish. Highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be dining there again soon. Thanks again!

Yelp
place has some weird sting in the air - makes it hard we moved outside Set ice is good Food ok

Yelp
Such a welcoming spot! The servers were incredibly friendly, and you can really feel that cozy, family-owned vibe from the moment you walk in. The food was delicious--perfect if you're just starting to explore Indian cuisine. Flavors were well-balanced, not too spicy or overpowering, and everything tasted fresh. The naan was absolutely amazing--soft, warm, and the perfect pairing for every dish. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

Yelp
I normally don't leave negative reviews, but what happened to me here was genuinely frightening and should be taken seriously by management and potential customers. I ordered a Taj Mahal beer with my meal, and it was served in a glass alongside the bottle--as is typical. I drank most of the beer from the glass without knowing what was to come. However, when I went to pour the remaining beer from the bottle into the glass, I noticed something alarming: the neck of the bottle was broken, with large, jagged shards of glass missing from the rim. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they admitted they knew the bottle was broken when they served it to me. Even more disturbing, they had placed the bottle cap back on top--presumably to hide the damage and make it less noticeable. They told me they thought it was "okay" to serve anyway. That response absolutely shocked me. This wasn't a small chip--it was obvious, sharp, and incredibly dangerous. I was genuinely terrified that I might have unknowingly consumed broken glass. I've attached photos of the broken bottle for reference. This goes beyond poor judgment--this is a major safety violation. I sincerely hope management steps in immediately and ensures staff are properly trained on basic food and beverage safety. Serving a broken glass bottle--knowingly--is unacceptable and reckless.

Yelp
Everything we've had here is fantastic. Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, you name it, we love it. Service is always good. We also order takeout from them all the time and have never been disappointed. 10/10!

Yelp
Wow I'm not sure how this place only has 3.8 stars as of writing this, but it's hands down the best of 12+ Indian restaurants I've tried while living in Atlanta. Food was amazing!

Becky D.

Yelp
Great food. Local vibe and consistent food. Really solid local Indian spot to go to for low key dinners or to go

Yelp
Food was great along with great customer service. Great location in Chamblee area. A-lot of food given for the main dishes which is great for leftovers. My husband & I shared one of the main chicken dishes for lunch & we still left with a-lot of leftovers.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Thursday right before they closed down for the afternoon. The staff was very friendly and our water was very attentive. We ordered the chicken 65 and two beef samosas for an appetizer. The chicken 65 was a bit dry and the external shell was crunchy. I was disappointed in the chicken 65 and it wasn't hot at all even though it had the coloring of a normal chicken 65. The samosas were also a bit dry on the inside but the sauces they brought out helped with that. I probably wouldn't get an appetizer next time I go. The stars here were the garlic naan bread and the lamb vindaloo which were cooked to absolute perfection and so delicious. The lamb was tender, very well seasoned and spicy. The rice that came with the dish was great and went well with the lamb vindaloo. I would definitely return for it.

Yelp
You get a lot of food which is really nice. I got the chicken Tika masala and vegetable samosas. I ordered to go but the restaurant had patio seating and indoor seating. I'd come back again.

Frances P.

Yelp
We went for the first time for Father's Day brunch and it was amazing! Their special brunch menu had a great blend of traditional and Indian special options. We also had two under two, two Dads for a party of 7 and they were more than accommodating for everyone with very timely service too! Highly recommended the samosa smash bagel, chicken 65 and any rice dish, plus the homemade naan, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
First time visiting the new location. I've been eating here since 2008. I will say the Shrimp Bhuna and Jasmine rice wasn't as flavorful as the old days. Everything seemed quickly made, no real vegetables etc were in my dish. Rice taste seemed off again maybe quality related .. not sure. Just not good as I remember

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place has four stars, which was the reason we came here in the first place. The service was alright but the food took forever and the quality was very poor. We started with peshawari naan. The naan dough was really thick. I'm used to thin and slightly crispy with a pleasant chewiness, this tasted nothing like that and kept falling apart. Almost an hour later we got the entrees. My friend ordered a chicken dish and I got mixed tandori grille. The chicken in my dish was extremely dry, the shrimp at least half an hour overcooked and pure rubber, the sausage was processed, like a hot dog. It was a rainy Wednesday night and I think there was only one other table there. Absolutely no reason for this long of a wait. No way will we be returning.

Yelp
Himalayas is delicious. Also, the owner is so sweet and funny and makes you feel so at home. Everyone who works there is so kind! We had a party of 5 at 7:30 on a Sunday night. It took a while for the food to come out, but the appetizers helped! They have a great patio for outdoor seating with cafe lighting! In the winter, they have heat lamps. There is street parking and also a lot off of Pierce Drive. Here's what we got: - Veggie Samosas ($6 for 2): Very good! The samosas were a good size too! - Chana Puri ($10): Good! - Panir Masala ($14): Delicious! After the samosas and the chana puri, we had some leftover! - Naan ($3, 2 orders): Sooo good, especially dipped in the masala sauce! They are very willing to customize dishes - one person got half tofu and half panir masala. Good prices, good food, good portions. Highly recommend!

Sydney P.

Yelp
I've been going to Himalayas for years now, and have always loved their food and outdoor atmosphere! Their owner is lovely and service has been warm and efficient. I recent went to their brunch service and it was honestly great! I wasn't sure about how Indian fusion would feel on a Saturday morning, but it was incredible! I got their samosa bagel and my fiancé got their lox bagel. Both were amazing and will 100% come back!

Adam A.

Yelp
Me and my wife eat here I would say on an almost weekly basis. The food here is good and consistant. And it's one of the only Indian restaurants in Atlanta that carries tofu. Which is really cool for vegans because you can get something else besides just lentils or channa. We usually get the tofu vindaloo, highly recommended. The service is also very good, the food is always ready for pick up in about 20-25 minutes.

Yelp
Amazing food, good staff and great people most importantly. A most come back. The Red curry with shrimp is amazing. The garlic breadis exactly what you need to start along with the Chicken 65. This restaurant is a mainstay in Chamblee. This will be a centerpiece of the new and improved modern Brookhaven. I can't wait.

Yelp
We came here for the first time after work one day and we were not disappointed. The food was really good and the service was prompt and friendly.

Yelp
Love this restaurant and the food but hate that you have to check out yourself with your credit card at your table. The tip starts at 25%. When you click the custom tip it will not let you check out. When you want to order to go from home, it also does not let you check out until you leave min. 15% for take out with no table service. I realize some people love to tip for to go but my belief is the tip is for dining in and table service. I should not be forced to tip on a to go order in order to place my order. Please for those reading this review , continue to tip for to go if you choose but leave those of us who prefer not to to our own opinions. We do not go to this restaurant any more because of this. To make us check out ourselves with a minus of 25% tip is crazy. Sorry Himalayas, you lost us and no telling how many more.

Yelp
So much bang for your buck! It was about $50 total for 1 order of vegetable samosas, 2 orders of garlic naan, and 3 entrees which each came with basmati rice: Saag Paneer, Vegetable Korma, and Daal Makhani. The portions are plentiful, and the flavors are delicious. I took it to go, but the restaurant seems comfortable and casual, and the service was friendly. We will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
The location was great and I loved that they have garage doors that roll up and an outdoor patio. The man working could have used an extra employee because he was running the whole front area and bar alone as well as taking phone calls. But he was delightful and our food came out without any issues. We had vegetable samosas, buttered naan, and chicken madras. It was all good but the madras had ZERO spicy. I don't know how you even make that dish without any spice at all. I was so excited to see it had tomato and onions and then crushed when I tasted the lack of spice. Maybe if you order it 9-1-1 spice level it would be ok. But medium was disappointing.

Yelp
Wow! Delicious Indian food here! My buddy brought a few of us here for dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice evening. The owner greeted us and helped us order. The meat Samosa appetizer was really good. We got 3 different things to try. We got the Lamb Bhuna, Chicken Sag, and another chicken dish. With some Lamb Biryani also. Everything had great flavor! All meats were tender and the rice was perfectly cooked. All were chased by some Taj Mahal beer! Great meal. We all left stuffed and happy. Service is great. Not a fast food place by any means. But worth the wait! Try this Indian joint in the Chamblee area.

Yelp
I came here today for lunch and was really excited to try it since passing by it a number of times. The tables on the inside are set quite nicely with linen napkins and appetizer dishes which I didn't expect. This restaurant does not have a lunch menu, so it did make for a pricey lunch (~$45 for two people). I ordered the Saag Paneer with medium spice and comes with rice ($12) which I thought was good, but not a dish worth trying again. Nothing exciting and nothing terrible, but a rather average dish. The flavor of the dish came through, but the spice level was very close to mild. My partner got the chicken tikka masala with medium spice and comes with rice ($16). I tasted his dish and it was not worth the price at all. It tasted more closely to a ketchup with how sweet it was and I could taste none of the spices of what you normally expect with a tikka masala. It was also very brightly colored red which was off putting as well. He had well over an additional serving leftover, but disliked it so much he chose not to finish it. We ordered 2 Plain Naan ($3 each) to share and they were hands down the best naan I have ever tried. Soft, pillowy and with a nice chew. 'I would come here just to get the naan and make my own curries back at home' good! Overall, the price point of lunch at a whopping $45 for the food we were served today was not worth it.

Yelp
Himalaya is one of our favorite restaurants in Chamblee, their food is outstanding and the owner and staff are super friendly. We love that they have a full bar so you can sip your favorite cocktail or craft beer while you wait for your takeout order. And, they have a larger outdoor dining area. Great spot in downtown Chamblee!

Marko P.

Yelp
Love the food here, definitely my current favorite for a great Indian curry in Atlanta.
google avatar

Shani H.

Yelp
Nice hidden gem in downtown Chamblee. We came around 9pm on the Thursday. We walked down the strip of restaurants and this was the only place still serving food. The menu is huge and neither one of us is familiar with the names of many Indian dishes so we asked the servers for their recommendations. They recommended two dishes. We got a lamb curry and another lamb dish. Both came with Naan and rice. We enjoyed both dishes. I liked the curry more but my friend liked the other lamb dish more. We both loved the Naan. We tired half garlic and half Cheese. We would definitely go back. We spent about $25 each (including tip).

Volvo S.

Yelp
These people have an attitude. Not worth not worth their $18 -25 plus. It may seem like fine dining but assure you it is not. There are much more accommodating and nice Indian restaurants that are in the Decatur/Tucker area.

Luke W.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Atlanta, the hospitality of the staff, the large portions, the ingredients used are great. I've been to restaurants around Chamblee and Tucker and nothing compares to the quality here
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
The food was very good. The bar service needs to be trained. The staff needs some training as well. So it's a work in progress. I think with some time they could figure things out
google avatar

Stefan S.

Yelp
Delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. The staff are amazing and the menu has no bad options. Highly recommended if you live or are visiting Atlanta. Love it!
google avatar

Liora K.

Yelp
Amazing workers and owner, friendly and sweet. Tasty and warm food, free parking around , cute outdoor patio lights, metal and wood seats for outdoor.

Jay R.

Yelp
Went for dinner on a slow Monday night. We ordered the app chicken shishkabob , garlic nann and lamb bhunin. It was delicious I may not be able to spell but I do know good Indian food and this was it. Cool place that will be fantastic when the weather cools off.
google avatar

Jack J.

Yelp
Have come here a few times. Feels more of a hole in the wall kinda place then fine dinning. Park here is tough, but hang in there...it's worth it. The food here is fantastic. I love spicy food and this stuff definitely has a kick. I started with a 4 out of 5 spice but moved back to 3 as I felt like a fire breathing dragon. It's sooooo good tho. I never leave here not stuffed. Had a few different dishes and thought all of them were great. Service was middle of the road but they do there best when it's packed along with to-go orders. Overall I keep coming back for the food and you will as well!
google avatar

Yelp
We visit this restaurant once a month and in my experience, the quality of the service has significantly declined in the past few months. I think this is because the new waitstaff are unfamiliar with the menu. Last month, I ordered Cabernet Sauvignon and received Sauvignon Blanc. Last night, I ordered Chardonnay and received Sauvignon Blanc. This occurred AFTER a second waiter came over to confirm my drink order. The food is great, but after our entrees arrived, we waited 10 minutes before we had to ask for the plate of jasmine rice that has been standard with these entrees. Disappointing...
google avatar

Draft M.

Yelp
Always a solid delivery on the food. Stripped down atmosphere for sure---but the food and service are good and the menu is on point.

Neil K.

Yelp
Food is good but DON'T Order online. When I went to check out they tried to charge me a 20% tip (for takeout) and $6 fee of some sort. On their website. I backed out of the fees, paid when I got there and gave a reasonable tip. The food took much longer than they had said it would. After waiting, as I was leaving with food, they told me they had switched part of my order because it was an up charge, even though it didn't show it on my receipt ( from their website). What a crook!

Sam L.

Yelp
We've been coming here for several years. The owners are incredibly nice and their makhani is phenomenal. Indian food is my favorite and this one has some of the best you can get. Also since moving the ambiance and design of the restaurant are great. Especially the outdoor area on a nice day.
google avatar

Patric G.

Yelp
I went here on the recommendation of an Indian person who assured me it was the most authentic Indian cuisine in Atlanta. I ordered samosas, Gobi Manchurian, and Naan. The samosas were warm, but not hot. The Gobi Manchurian was pretty much just sweet and sour cauliflower. The Naan was okay. The best thing about the meal was the onion chutney. So, maybe I ordered the wrong things. Not sure. But it was disappointing. Or maybe I just caught them on an off day. Or maybe their lunch is better? My favorite Indian is still Masti. Sorry not sorry.

Yelp
Back for a dime in supper and brought a friend!! The vibe and the restaurant was lovely and everything smells amazing. I was warmly greeted and seated. For supper my friend and I chose vindaloo and korma with lamb. It was delicious!! The vindaloo was tasty and spicy and the Korma ( my second helping of Korma in one week) was equally yummy!!! Our naan was perfect !! True comfort food!! Our server was attentive and funny. I was lucky enough to see 2 or three trains go by ( I love the Choo choo). I'll be back Friday for live music and a drink!

Yelp
Delish, fun. Good communication with the kitchen to get the perfect heat. Staff may seem at first, a little cold. It turns out they're just really cool, great place for a proper curry.
google avatar

Vaithinathan R.

Yelp
Ordered gobi manchurian take out. It was NOT gobi manchurian by any means. At best it was a disgusting sweet and sour sauce covering cauliflower florets. Least they can do it call something else.

Tawny C.

Yelp
I love Indian food, so I returned to this resturant to give it another chance after a bad experience some time ago. The service was minimal and unfriendly. The wait staff was cold and not very attentive. We were mostly ignored. While we waited for our food, I noted the food score was 81. This is lower than I like but I had already ordered the food, so I stayed. Resturants with a food score of an A are best. Also, the resturant license on the wall was for 2023. It is May 2024 so that is not current. The service was bad but the food was good. We were the only table inside, so they weren't busy but we waited and had to ask for our check. The waiter brought the credit card machine to the table and not the check. I asked to see the check and the waiter verbally told me the item amounts. I asked for a check so I can see the items that made up the total amount. The waiter said we would get a receipt after we paid. We were not treated as valuable customers. When we left, the owner/waiter saw us leave and we walked right by him; he did not say a word to us and did not say thank-you or good bye. Be aware of the poor service and rude treatment you may get at this resturant. It was an unpleasant experience. The owner showed me that he does not care for my repeat business.

Kealani B.

Yelp
The food is beyond excellent. Seriously, I haven't had Indian this good in -years.- The standard tikka was great, but the lamb saag ghost and the chicken dhansak were utterly amazing. Generous sizes meant we had to take leftovers or eat until we exploded. Garlic Naan was so. Darned. GOOD, I could've just had that and been happy. Cherry on top of this glorious meal was the awesome staff, who joked with us, making us feel like part of the family.
google avatar

Kara C.

Yelp
We came here for a nightcap the first time as we are getting familiar with Chamblee and had a wonderful experience. We are back for a full meal on the patio with our little dog and wow!! This is the Indian dining experience I have been looking for! Absolutely delicious and delightful talking with the owner as well. Love the lush plants on the patio. We will be back for another refreshing Taj Mahal beer and tasty meal!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Very good foot and comfy atmosphere. It was very tasty. I hate character requirements on reviews.
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
A local, dependable restaurant for authentic Indian cuisine. Moiz and his brother always produce delicious, savory, and depending on how much "fire" you like, spicy food! The bar is small but comfortable, and can handle diners as well, but my wife and I always prefer their outside seating. Large umbrellas provide shade at each table. The drink list is not very large but we'll-appointed and reasonably priced. We started with the shrimp puri (sorry, we ate it so fast we couldn't get a photo!), then had the lamb buryani and the chicken jafrezzi, with garlic naan. Everything was delivered hot and plentiful. I told Moiz next time, we'll ask for half the amount of rice that we received - very generous amount. Needless to say, it was another very comfortable and satisfying experience at Himalayas!

Yelp
I was a bit worried that the change in location also meant a change in the food as I really loved the food at the original location off Hwy 141 (or Peachtree Road). However, I definitely like the newer location for the following reasons: PROS: - better deco: about the same but perhaps slightly smaller establishment - atmosphere is more quaint, versus their previous location in a large shopping mall - easier to find because it's one of a few in a row CONS: - parking is a lot harder - off the main road, definitely have to GPS unless you know the area Food quality and flavors are still consistent. My BFF and I again split the following: Butter Lamb (similar to Butter Chicken) PROS: - fantastic flavors: still the same as before. - lamb was very tender: not overcooked - great amount of sauce, enough to coat the meat just perfectly. CONS: -none Saag Paneer: spinach and goat cheese PROS: - same great quality - good flavors: not overpowering yet not bland but definitely lighter compared to the butter chicken CONS: - none Naan: PROS: - great quantity, definitely worthy of sharing - not burnt, not dry and fluffy CONS: - certain bits were a bit flatter than others, but not necessarily a con. They may have just deflated faster than we got to eat them. Service was on point as usual. The rice came as part of our orders, and it was wonderfully done - soft, fluffy, not hard or undercooked, came out piping hot. There were plenty left for us to take home. I'm so glad that the consistency stayed the same even though the location changed. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
My favorite neighborhood spot! Typically order pick-up at least once every two weeks. The staff always very considerately brings my food out to me with a smile, since I typically walk my dog to pick it up. Food is hot, flavorful, and overall delicious. The few times I have eaten at the restaurant, the waitstaff has been friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is lovely, especially the patio area. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Krysten D.

Yelp
Love this place. I always order the chicken tikka Marsala with extra sauce, basmati rice and garlic naan and roti. The yogurt-cucumber raita pairs great with the food and the mango lassi is delicious. When I first found this place I got food from here once a week for like 2 months!

Yelp
Moyes and Sharif are always welcoming, and the quality of their food has always been good
