"Hogstone’s Wood Oven is an acclaimed restaurant known for its rustic pies and natural wine bottles. Chef-owner Jay Blackinton has earned multiple James Beard Award nominations for his wood-fired pies and farm-sourced dishes. The restaurant is launching a new 'pizza and wine club' delivering frozen pizzas and wine along the I-5 corridor, from Bellingham to Pioneer Square. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hogstone’s continues to innovate with new projects while currently open for takeout and delivery." - Gabe Guarente

"Eleven years ago Jay Blackinton, then a vegan bike courier, relocated from Seattle out to Orcas Island, in the San Juan Islands, signing on as a farmhand to escape his frenetic city life. Today, having fallen hard for both the island and its bounty, he dishes up sustainable nose-to-tail menus (along with sensational pizzas) at Hogstone's Wood Oven, his pilgrimage-worthy restaurant. These are his favorite flavors."

We had a fantastic dinner here, in Sept 2021. Sharing now because we were reminiscing about what a great time we had. All the food (and wine) was delicious, and our server was awesome. Can't wait to go back one day.

What an oily mess! I'm honestly stunned. I don't know how so many people can walk into a restaurant, consume 3 bottles of olive oil and leave a 5 star review. Every piece was just absolutely DRENCHED in oil. For the low price of $80! (2x pizzas with pork topping, 1x side salad). I'm ashamed that this is considered great pizza, but for the price and pretentious atmosphere described I'm even more ashamed people are spending money here. Save your $77 for a flight to Joe's pizza on Broadway in NYC - you'll spend $3.00 for better pizza. Pizza: 2/5 (crust was pretty okay, and ingredients were fresh enough. Too much salt in the pork sausage though) Salad: 3/5 decent, but uninspired. Use of Brewers yeast was appreciated and appropriate. Also a little heavy on the salt. Service: 4/5 we entered for pickup only, the staff were polite and helpful. I didn't sense a pretentious attitude from the staff as described in other reviews. Can't comment beyond that as we didn't eat in. Overall: 2/5 The staff didn't come off as pretentious and the salad was okay, but for the price this place IS pretentious. Pretentious is okay, but you have to back up your product. Maybe you should get your blood pressure checked after your meal here...

My girlfriend and I loved the food and the service here. The pizza was amazing. The people working are extremely friendly and very helpful. Our stay on orcas was short this time but I ate there three times in three days. Thank you!

This restaurant is very quaint and delicious. The Portions are a little small for the price, but the quality more than makes up for it. The service was very prompt and the dishes were spaced out perfectly. The moment you walk in you are greeted with amazing smells and a perfect atmosphere. (The oysters are Delicious)

We were thrilled to score a reservation at James Beard recognized local chef Jay Blackinton’s Hogstone. Pictured here is corn grit and tomato macerated strawberry and snap pea salad. The pizzas with the cheddar cheese dipping mousse are a must while in town!

The ingredients are very fresh. The pizzas are large enough for 1-2 people. They are a little overpriced, but this is to be expected on an island.
