our third stop of the evening was homer street cafe and bar on a friday night around 6:30 pm. the place was buzzing and really loud, full of energy. homer street cafe is part of the same restaurant group as tableau and maxine's.
i had always thought of it as the small spot on the corner of homer and smithe, but i was surprised by how spacious it actually is. the restaurant has high ceilings, large windows, and white walls with elegant molding that create an open, airy feel. industrial-style pendant lights give off a warm glow, and wooden accents add some coziness. it blends modern and classic design elements, feeling like something you'd find in soho or greenwich village.
outside, they've got a charming patio with red umbrellas, picnic tables, and plenty of greenery. it feels like a european courtyard, both lively and relaxed.
i ordered the watermelon spritz for $16, made with campari, fresh watermelon juice, sparkling wine, and soda. honestly, the drink wasn't very sweet at all--it leaned more on the bitter side. we weren't too hungry but decided to share the hscb burger for $22. the burger was cooked medium rare, topped with melted cheddar, bacon, special sauce, shredded lettuce, pickles, and came with crispy golden fries. while it was decent, i've had better burgers elsewhere.
it was still a nice spot to kick off the weekend, and i'd love to come back for brunch next time.
