The 38 Best Restaurants in Vancouver

"Open for: Lunch and dinner, with brunch on weekends Price range: $$ Thankfully, the Covid-era patio remains at this ever-popular Yaletown neighborhood rotisserie cafe and bar, offering the chance to bask in the sun as you consider decent European wine picks, some of the city’s most consistently excellent roast chicken, and tasty sides. Inside, watch the handsome red Rotisol Grande Flamme Olympia rotisserie spit-roast perfect free-range chickens and other proteins, and briefly ponder whether you should give in to the Full Monty (a waistband-tightening set menu that carves through some of Homer Street’s favorites). Ponder no more — of course you should. Must-try dish: Grab so many napkins and faceplant into the gloriously messy HSCB burger." - Nikki Bayley

Where to Stay and Eat in Vancouver

"Nestled within a hip neighborhood, Homer St. Cafe entices with its inviting patio, but step inside and and you'll quickly see that this contemporary bistro is no slouch indoors, either. Equal parts trendy and quirky, with chairs doubling as wall hangings, Homer St. Cafe delivers on its promise of comfort food done really well." - Kevin Chau

On the Grid : Homer Street Cafe

"Don't let the clean, chic interior fool you, this place is not for the faint of stomach. Each and every day, a different member of the animal kingdom meets its maker (in the form of the Daily Feature Roast). That is where it's at, but the entire menu is equally scrumptious. Visit this downtown gem for dinner and drinks or weekend brunch. Enjoy one of the several exquisitely designed dining rooms, or the fantastic patio on Homer Street." - Becki Chan & Milos Begovic

Equal parts trendy and quirky, with chairs doubling as wall hangings, Homer St. Cafe delivers on its promise of comfort food done really well. Order it half or whole and then tuck in to the crispy skin doused in gravy or buttermilk ranch. Sided by fluffy, buttery biscuits, it's a stick-to-your-ribs satisfying meal. If you have room, order the cheesecake with white chocolate-almond crumble resting over quince preserve." - Michelin Inspector

Homer Street Café walks the line nicely between trendy and relaxed. The atmosphere is polished but approachable—sophisticated without trying too hard. Subtle chicken-themed details scattered throughout the space add a bit of charm without being gimmicky. The Food Overall, the food was solid, with a few standout moments. The Caesar salad came topped with fried chicken skins, which might just be reason enough to order it. Crisp, salty, and unexpectedly addictive. Another highlight was the fried mushrooms—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of earthy flavor. Easily one of the best bites of the night. The pork schnitzel, on the other hand, didn’t quite live up to expectations. It sounded better on the menu than it was on the plate—fine, but forgettable, especially next to the more flavorful dishes

My sister-in-law and I visited Homer on Homer Street for the first time. I’d been wanting to go for a while, and while I enjoyed my dish, we won’t be returning. I had the Duck Hash Eggs Benedict, which was flavorful but overpriced. My sister-in-law ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict and was quite disappointed — it wasn’t served on a slice of bread or with any thoughtful presentation, unlike how it’s often made at home with cream cheese, herbs, and black sesame. She gave me a bite, and I wasn’t wild about the taste either. She rated her dish a 5/10. Worse, they forgot her latte. When we pointed this out to the server, she just smiled and said, “Oh,” with no offer to make it right. Oddly enough, my sister-in-law actually spotted her untouched latte sitting on the counter — and when we left, a staff member was drinking it while chatting with the kitchen. So: was my dish tasty? Yes. Was it overpriced? Also yes. Will we go back? No. When we got home, my sister-in-law made her own lovely latte to make up for it — I’ll attach the picture we took.

This is a must experience place - the atmosphere is awesome - the old building is really really cool - i liked the simple one page menu - Jocelyn N provided exceptional service - i rated the food only x4 stars because 1 - one diner thought that the cole slaw that went with the ribs was not great (I personally really liked it) 2- I thought the brisket was a bit tougher than brisket I have had elsewhere (my experience is Texas brisket and maybe this is just the way it is cooked here) 3-the cobb salad was huge and much more than our diner could eat (yes, for many diners this would be a plus) - could this be offered in smaller portion? The potato appetizer and butter tart dessert were amazing - If in Vancouver again, I will definitely try this place again because I do not think that I did my part to fully experience the menu offerings

Google
Great place overall. We started with the potato pancake, which was surprisingly good. We then ordered the sablefish and the pork tomahawk schnitzel. The fish was quite delicate, and the accompanying potato gnocchi with green sauce were pretty good, but the dish was quite small for $44. On the other hand, the schnitzel was enormous, and the salad that came on top was very flavorful; it was however a little overdone, the breadcrumbs were too dark and hard, and some were somewhat bitter; on top of that, it was a little too salty. We shared a rhubarb parfait for dessert; it's a good portion for two, with nice texture and flavor. The service was attentive and quick. The atmosphere was a little off when we first sat down, the music was ridiculously loud. The tables are weirdly long and narrow, and they are set a little too close together. We spent $114.45 for dinner for two before tip.

Google
This place is close to home, but I haven’t been able to visit often because it’s usually quite busy. I dropped by again recently, and perhaps due to the road closures from the marathon, it wasn’t as crowded as usual for a Sunday lunch. That said, there still seemed to be people waiting, so I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. I’ll definitely be ordering the omelette again next time—it was a standout!

Visited this longtime establishment for weekend brunch with friends. The interior exudes a classic "old money" vibe. The food was fine. Nothing exceptional, but not bad either. Portions leaned on the smaller side, so don’t expect a hearty meal. A solid choice if you’re prioritizing ambiance over culinary excitement.

Google
Had an amazing dining experience at Homer St Bar & Cafe! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. We started with the half rack of ribs and half chicken – both were cooked to perfection. The ribs were tender and full of flavor, while the chicken had a crispy, savory skin and juicy meat inside. For dessert, we indulged in their red velvet cake, and it was divine! The cake was moist, with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting – the perfect end to a delicious meal. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was friendly, and the food was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great meal in a relaxed yet stylish setting!

Google
Loved everything about this place. Was here in Vancouver for my husband's business trip and found this gem! We loved the atmosphere and building itself, but the best of all is the food and amazing staff! Sophie was our server and such a delite! She was so informative, attentive, and so personable! Our food was amazing! And as soon as we were finished with our food or drinks, someone made sure our dirty dishes etc was removed from our table! Do not hesitate to try this place !

Yelp
I stopped at Homer St. cafe and bar in Yaletown for a late dinner on the patio and loved it. The evening was warm and outside was much quieter. Great for people watching and noticing how many people speed on that street. I went for the bone-in pork chop schnitzel, which came out crisp and juicy, with a fresh salad with a tangy vinaigrette that cut through the richness. I polished off every bite and definitely ate more than I should have. One local lager brought the bill to about $45 before tip which is on the higher side, but fair for the neighborhood. The servers were upbeat and checked on us just enough to keep waters filled without hovering. If you're after a laid-back patio meal with solid cooking and friendly service, Homer is an easy recommendation.

Yelp
It was the first time we tried Homer Street Bistro and it was lovely. It is very loud but still enjoyable. We brought our own bottle of wine because my husband did not like the prices or the wines that they had available. While we were sitting at the table the sommelier came up to us and asked us about the bottle of wine we had brought along as he was curious. When my husband showed him the bottle. He said OMG - I know the winery and the owners are very good friends of mine in fact I'm going to a 3 day event at their winery and I'll be staying with them. I'll have to tell them that customers did BYOB and brought their wine. We offered him a taste of the wine and he quickly accepted. Homer Street Bisstro has a Michelin recommendation for their chicken. My husband had the chicken for his entree and I have to say it is the best chicken that I've ever tasted in a restaurant. I had the special of the evening - spot prawns with linguine and it also was amazing. The prawns were perfectly cooked and the linguine was a perfect compliment to go with it. We shared an order of chicken fried oyster mushrooms as an appetizer. It was a terrific evening. The service was good and the food amazing. Reservations are definitely recommended

Yelp
The service was impeccable, the food was really delicious and everything was just perfect. The ambiance was pretty cool too. I knew walking and I would love this place, but when I saw the food, I was super impressed.

Yelp
I love this funky, historic bistro with lots of small spaces and a very interesting menu. The specialty here is rotisserie chicken, and it's definitely worth trying. It's right up there with the Michelin-starred Benoit in New York City. The baby back ribs are also good, especially if you like North Carolina style mustard BBQ sauce. The star of our meal was a special: chicken fried oyster mushrooms. These were delicately fried and served with a delicious mushroom dipping sauce. The other standout was the cole slaw that accompanied the ribs. I wouldn't have said coleslaw needed kale, but it was terrific--not too rich or sweet, and nice and crispy carrots and cabbage. The wine list and cocktails are very well thought out. The BC wines by the glass were excellent, and someone really likes bitter aperitifs like Amari. I certainly do! Our server was also the bartender, and they were terrific.

Yelp
Was scheduled to come back in the next few days but I don't think I'll return. Brisket was good in texture but everything was a bit too salty for my taste. The yellow accompanying sauce doesn't seem to pair as well as a straight gravy or barbecue sauce would. The macaroni salad should just be potato salad. The liver and pâté on waffles was interesting. Wouldn't repeat. Portions also seem small for the price. One toilet wasn't flushing so there was a lineup for bathrooms. Also really noisy on a Friday night making it hard for conversation. Bit disappointed that our server knew about my friend's birthday from my Open Table reservation but didn't do anything other than a greeting with that information. He was good about checking on ingredients for her allergies though.

Yelp
I came here a while ago and I had a great experience. Their restaurant is beautiful inside and their patio is awesome (perfect for the summer). They have a great menu with different options, so it can help everyone with their needs. If you are struggle with their menu, their waitresses are really helpful and they can give some tips. Their cocktails are fantastic and my favourite food was their Arctic Char, which it is a gnocchi squash tomatoes and butter sauce. It was so yummy. I wish they have more options for meals but I think their focus on shareable meals. It does make sense though, great idea to socialize more with friends through the food. Great place and I do recommend to make reservations!

Yelp
Very cute café, no air conditioning, though, so it was a little warm. The service was spotty, attentive at times, and slow at other times. Food was picturesque. Turkish eggs were delicious, and the spinach and mushroom eggs benedict were so good. Potatoes were good, salad was bland. The lavender lemonade tasted like plain lemonade, no lemonade. The food took longer than expected to come out. Some paid street parking available.

Yelp
Had dinner here our first night in Vancouver. They were super busy and we didn't have a reservation (it was only 5:00 and already they were on a wait) but they got us in pretty quickly. We ordered the gnocchi and steak frite. The gnocchi surprised me- it was very differently shaped in large coin-size rounds rather than pillows. It was very good! The steak was perfectly done with a tasty chimichurri sauce. Tables are pretty close to each other so not the best place for intimate conversation but overall it has a nice vibe.

Yelp
Went here after work for happy hour/late lunch. We were warmly greeted by hostess as soon as we walked in. The great service continued with our amazing waitress. The were so accommodating to us by making a cocktail not in season and off menu. All the food we had was great but I recommend getting the tuna crudo and happy hour burger the most. The burger was well priced and tasted good.

Yelp
our third stop of the evening was homer street cafe and bar on a friday night around 6:30 pm. the place was buzzing and really loud, full of energy. homer street cafe is part of the same restaurant group as tableau and maxine's. i had always thought of it as the small spot on the corner of homer and smithe, but i was surprised by how spacious it actually is. the restaurant has high ceilings, large windows, and white walls with elegant molding that create an open, airy feel. industrial-style pendant lights give off a warm glow, and wooden accents add some coziness. it blends modern and classic design elements, feeling like something you'd find in soho or greenwich village. outside, they've got a charming patio with red umbrellas, picnic tables, and plenty of greenery. it feels like a european courtyard, both lively and relaxed. i ordered the watermelon spritz for $16, made with campari, fresh watermelon juice, sparkling wine, and soda. honestly, the drink wasn't very sweet at all--it leaned more on the bitter side. we weren't too hungry but decided to share the hscb burger for $22. the burger was cooked medium rare, topped with melted cheddar, bacon, special sauce, shredded lettuce, pickles, and came with crispy golden fries. while it was decent, i've had better burgers elsewhere. it was still a nice spot to kick off the weekend, and i'd love to come back for brunch next time.

Yelp
Stopped by Homer St for happy hour. We were seated outside, as the weather was beautiful. We asked the person who seated us for recommendations and they gave us great, detailed recommendations. It was also Negroni night when we stopped by! We got oysters and garlic squid and both were fantastic. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Walked by here very often and always wanted to try. We were seated outside on the patio for brunch. The restaurant itself is very aesthetic and service was very prompt given how busy the restaurant was on a long weekend at 11am. Ordered the rigatoni alla carbonara and was disappointed. The sauce was overly salty, and barely coated the noodles. The noodles tasted al dente, and the egg was cooked perfectly, however I only tasted salt from the sauce.

Yelp
Had a terrific and flavorful client dinner here. I got the brisket with cabbage coleslaw and it was so flavorful and soft to chew. I highly recommend. Easy five in flavors and quality of what the kitchen prepared. We got many appetizers. The tuna was very flavorful as well as the Brussel sprouts. Most dishes had terrific sauces that added all the savory/sweet flavor. The chicken wings I'd skip. Nothing special and they are more like fried chicken than chicken wings. Desserts were great like the chocolate puddin'. The butter tart was just ok, but a little small for the price. I recommend the puddin'. Excellent professional service. We sat upstairs with a fun rooster-filled wall. Check it out before you go.

Yelp
We came to Homer St. Cafe and Bar as a group of six with reservation ahead. I messaged the restaurant on the reservation platform regarding one of the guests in wheelchair, they responded promptly and we were seated at a table with accessibility upon arrival. The restaurant has a nice decor, and we were able to see the action in the open kitchen. The Fully Monty had the variety of food we wanted to try, chicken, ribs, briskets, biscuits, potatos, beets salad, and coleslaw. Everything was flavorful, some of the reviews indicated the chicken was dry, this was certainly not the case for us. We also got the Cobb salad which was amazing, the presentation is one of the best I've had. The Ling Cod was fresh, the beans are a bit too salty based on the three people in our group that had it. Butter tart was amazing, the flakey shell was fantastic, and the chocolate pudding also delicious. Service was impeccable throughout, our waitress was attentive, and so were all the other staff. This was a late birthday celebration, and everyone really enjoyed this meal.

Yelp
Best sandwich I've ever had. Cute ambiance outside with great service! Would def recommend.

Yelp
Came in with a reservation on Valentine's day around 11:30. The front staff were very responsive and polite, and we got to pick between bar and window seating. Our server, Court, was amazing. They gave us 10/10 service and made sure we were enjoying our food and drinks. We were able to converse with them about menu items and they gave us fantastic recommendations as far as drinks and food were concerned. If you're placed in Court's section, you will absolutely be taken care of. The General Manager was also very friendly and checking in on us throughout our meal, making sure we were taken care of. I will always recommend this place to anyone in the area, it's a great vibe and the staff are extremely well trained in their craft. The food was also amazing, as always. We got the 1/4 rotisserie chicken, the cornbread with tobacco honey butter, and the roasted carrots. Come here if you want fantastic service and food.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place as it looked so cozy and cute whenever I walked by. Its also always full of people. Ambiance is very nice and felt like a cafe in France. Food was not good - portions were small for the price. I got the tater tot poutine with brisket. Brisket was dry, there were so little tater tots, and the entire dish was very salty with no other flavours. Also found a large piece of eggshell which I informed the server about. They offered to remake the dish but I did not want to eat the dish again so I said it was fine . At the end they gave us a butter tart on the house for the eggshell which was nice of them

Yelp
This is cute spot that is actually Michelin recommended, but so chill and unpretentious . The servers are attentive and knowledgable about the menu. I don't drink alcohol so I was only drinking some soda water with bitters and one of the servers in the bar(where we are seated & not our server) noticed my drink, since it was my birthday he asked me a couple of questions about what I like...not too sweet, more on the savory side...and he actually brought me a very beautiful & tasty drink, lots of ginger & just a hint of sweetness from pineapple juice. I'm not sure the name of it but I think if you go up to the bartender, they would be able to craft something for you to your liking, it's that kind of place! Although we had reservations, we were seated at a high top table in the bar. Not terrible but 2/4 of us had to sit on tall chairs that were hard & felt like they could tip over but I got to sit on the banquet which was much more comfortable. For appetizers we had the burrata, steak tartar with tater tots...probably my favorite appetizer closely followed by the chicken liver & foie gras which was like a smooth, velvety mousse piped onto a wedge of a Belgium waffle! So good! We also had the chicken fried oyster mushrooms which were served with a kombu emulsion but it was strangely sweet...I would have preferred something a little tastier to dip the fried mushrooms in but the crust & crunch on the outside of the mushrooms was great. Pretty tasty on their own but I would have like a better dipping sauce. We ended up ordering The Full Monty dinner since Homer St. Cafe is known for their rotisserie items. The Full Monty has all of it...half of a chicken, served with half rack of ribs, 6 slices of brisket plus biscuits, and 3 sides that are actually on the Veggie Menu. It's the way to go if you have a party of 3+ people, lots of variety & the stuff they are known for. The Full Monty also comes with dessert! The Full Monty is worth getting just for the dessert it's served with alone! Butter Tarts, crispy cups of thin layered dough filled with a warm, brown sauce much lighter than a pecan pie. When you break it open, the sauce spills onto the ice cream and plate more like the thickness of honey or slightly thinner. They also sent out a slice of Cinnamon Bun Cheesecake, I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake so I'm so glad we got those Butter Tarts. I would definitely recommend this spot...it's casual yet the menu is slightly elevated & grown up.

Yelp
Centrally located restaurant with a bar brunch menu. The restaurant is spacious and allows for privacy. The staff are friendly and attentive, they are also mindful or allergies or preferences. It is easy to substitute items from the menu. I was excited about their lavender gin cocktail but I was a little disappointed. The cocktail was very acidic and I couldn't taste the lavender much. I would've also preferred if their hash potatoes were crispier and had bit more flavour. However, their fried chicken was the right amount of crispy and the gravy made it better.

Yelp
Convenient location downtown for a quick bite. Trendy Parisian styled interiors and atmosphere. Our friends made a reservation for brunch one month in advance to line up after the Vancouver Sun Run. I thought the food was tasty but unfortunately not as memorable as I hoped. Perhaps I was not trying their signature dishes. Their americano and cappuccinos were quite delicious. We ordered: the Big Breakfast and Smoked Salmon. The Big Breakfast hit the spot, we enjoyed how the russet potatoes were cut in slices versus the usual dice. Kale could have been a bit more tender or chopped into smaller pieces. The Smoked Salmon potato pancakes could have been thicker, the slices of pancakes were over fried and engulfed by the salmon.

Yelp
This place is cozy and warm. Staff is welcoming and friendly, like everyone in Vancouver. I loved their wine offerings. You should not miss fried chicken. It is done so well. And then Gnocchi is one of its kind. If you are in yaletown, get here for brunch or dinner. They have good seating space.

Yelp
I have been recommended this place so many times and was so happy to try it out! Finally! I love that they take reservations and are also very accommodating to dietary needs. I can't tell you how amazing that is! We made reservations for 3 for brunch and were sat outside. Unfortunately, their was a strong smell of urine and so we asked to move. They did accommodate us, a bit hesitantly, but we were sat inside. I was torn between the OMELETTE (Macedonian feta, dried tomato, olive, crispy Russet potato, greens) and the LIL' HOMIE BREAKY SANDY (egg, sausage patty, crushed tater tots, brioche bun, HP aioli, greens) but no meat. I chose the sandwich because I am a sucker for tater tots. We waited almost an hour for food! It was crazy and when the food came, it was not over hot. My sandwich was huge but was very basic. Hot sauce was needed and I don't think I should have messed with the meat. It probably made the dish. Regardless, the food/service/experience was disappointing. I was not into the hype but maybe its just me?

Yelp
Cute spot in Yaletown for happy hour. Quite spacious inside with a large patio as well. Happy hour is everyday from 2:30-5:30PM and reservations can be made easily online. For drinks, my friend got an espresso martini $12 and I got a glass of house white $7. Happy hour prices are reasonable. For food, we got the Burrata and prosciutto $22 & Chicken liver parfait $15. Tasty snacks for sure.

Yelp
Lively fun spot for brunch with an amazing french toast. 3.5 stars Food: 3.5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: maybe Eve awards: best french toast with whipped ricotta Highlights: - French toast: star of meal, 3 fluffy thick brioche toasts with a custardy sweet flavor to them. Were great on its own, but the whipped ricotta, chopped pistachios and honey were next level perfect. Couldn't stop eating it. 5 stars - Great vibe and large with tons of seating areas: by the kitchen in a bright long room, inside by the bar, outdoor on the sidewalk, etc. - Waiter: super nice and had the toppings come on the side for the french toast. Worked well since my kid likes things plain but I still got to enjoy all the amazing toppings. ;-) - Watermelon spritz: was a different option to have on a spritz menu - House bubbles: appreciate that they are French Midlights: - Big breakfast: was ok, eggs were great and cooked as requested over easy, but being homemade I had high expectations of the bacon and sausage and they were just ok. I saw the benedicts being sent out and wish I would've gotten that with the fresh sliced ham. 3 stars Lowlights: - Tater tot brisket poutine: sounded so amazing, but had more opportunity to live up to its potential. The brisket was tiny squares that were a bit dry and it needed a lot more gravy. 2.75 stars Had a fun time here but if we returned, I would order other things next time in addition to the french toast.

Yelp
This was one of the best experiences start to finish I have ever witnessed. We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday night and the hosts at the front were so friendly. They informed me that they were booked up for the night but were looking to see if there was anywhere to squeeze us in. They saw a table was paying the bill and said we could have that seat if we would be able to finish in an hour, and sat us at a high top while we waited (which was only available for 30 mins). They bent over backwards to accommodate us. The meal itself was also amazing. The chicken was amazingly juicy and flavorful, unlike any chicken I have ever had. It was unbelievable. It came with some sort of gravy that was also an explosion of flavor. The vibes in here were amazing and energetic. One of the hosts continued to check in with us and was so thoughtful. It also happened to be my husband's birthday and they were kind enough to bring out a dessert with a candle as a surprise. We cannot wait to go back and are so grateful for every person that we interacted with.

Yelp
Nice downtown location with several levels which adds to the sense of intimacy. Bright refreshing decor, motivated staff. Artfully presented food with delicious fresh flavors. The fried rice for brunch with ginger and pork had a lovely blend of flavors and textures and was very satisfying.

Yelp
Our first impression was not good. We waited by the door for the place to open at 10:30 am for brunch and once we approached the hostess (Melissa) she was unwelcoming, cold and dismissive. The manager (Tom) spoke to me about it and his demeanor was professional, concerned and very apologetic and smoothed things over with us. It was a relief to see someone of his capability in charge, because we felt that the hostess for whatever reason just did not want to seat us, and actually told me, "well....I'll seat you but you have to be out by 12!". Our server (Nancy) was just as great as the manager and shocked of our first experience at the front as far as first impressions go. The Americanos we ordered were great! Really nice rustic and full body flavour perfect for your first morning cup of coffee served in a sparkling clean coffee mug and piping hot. However, I wasn't crazy about the French Toast. I'm not sure why but it was covered with a massive amount of whip cream. I mean sure....I've had french toast with some whip cream but this was more like.....whip cream with french toast and not the other way around. I did manage to wipe most of it off my toast but after a little while there was just a pool of melted whip cream in the plate....kinda confused me a little bit as to ...why? why put so much? Aside from the food. This experience was a perfect example of the quality of any restaurant being reflective of its team work. It was only and only because of the manager's response to his incapable, unprofessional and, in my opinion, unsuitable hostess that we are willing to possibly return or tell our friends about this cozy little cafe. Our server's friendly attitude, attention and hard work breathed new air into the foul first impression we received from a very polar team member.

Yelp
Happy to report that the food, cocktails and service are still excellent! Their happy hour is still fantastic, and their cocktails are great. I've added a few more photos and descriptions.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous, came in on Friday evening no reservations. Was seated promptly, the service was right there throughout the meal and was as excellent as the food. Had the fried oyster appetizer that was epic, followed by the duck confetti. The whole experience was beyond expectations. Look forward to returning

Yelp
Vancouver comfort food! It's known for rotisserie chicken and rotisserie chicken is what we had! It was very good although the skin could have been a little crisper. The vibe is busy, hip and eclectic with the good cocktails you would expect. It was busy on a Thursday night so probably best to get a reservation.

Yelp
The service was very good from all the staff. The fries came in a hot metal container, and they were very crispy. The manager from Quebec was very professional. I will be a repeat customer, and i would recommend Homer St Cafe.

Yelp
Great downtown "Cafe" / "Bistro" style eatery, located in a Historic building, Homer St. Cafe & Bar offers a great hangout for family & friends. Love the service here as they are all attentive and friendly, kudos to Christ for making our lunch relaxing and fun! Highlights ... Watermelon Spritz ... campari, fresh watermelon juice, sparkling wine ... need I say more? The Homer Cobb ... almost half a sphere of iceberg lettuce topped with blue cheese, bacon ( yes, this is the soul of this salad ), onsen egg ... thats not it ... the lettuce floats on top of juicy pulled chicken, mashed avocado ... mix it all together and you get each mouthful of fresh crispy lettuce with all the savoury goodness of the toppings! My suggestion, get one order slice it in 4s and each of you will have a great starter!! Bistro Filet was done to perfection and I love the crispy Russet potatoes ( wonder if they can be ordered separately ) ... its that good! Great atmosphere ... relaxing and casual ... sit near the kitchen to feel the passion of the kitchen staff putting their skills to each and every dish!

Yelp
The food was tasty, but a bit pricey for what it was. Their coffee was good too. However, our waitress was quite crabby. It felt like she was rushing us the whole time. It's nice to come once since the decoration and location are nice, but I wouldn't return for a while.

Yelp
I really wanted to go to a fancier restaurant for dinner one night on vacation so I chose Homer Cafe. I arrived around 4:10pm to catch a bit of their happy hour. I ended up having to be put on a waiting list and waiting for about 30-40 minutes for a seat at the bar. This was unusually long for me as someone just looking for one seat but either way, the bartender was great and helped me a lot with the menu. For happy hour, you can't order dinner until 5:30pm so I just got some fries and a drink to tide me over. It was a bit of a mistake because I ended up filling up on fries but ordered the gnocchi anyway because it looked awesome LOL. The fries were AMAZING. Wow, they were so good. And the garlic aioli was awesome. The gnocchi on the other hand was good but not great. I liked it and I would eat it again but it wasn't as good as I was expecting. Overall I think this place was a 3.8 out of 5 but I'll round up to 4 stars because the wait time wasn't really their fault. If you're in the area, they're really nice for happy hour but be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday for lunch. The space of the restaurant had an old world charm, and the service was friendly. I was not very impressed with the food I had ordered. But it's my fault, as I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I had ordered the Lamb Sirloin with Tomato Panzanella. In my mind, I had thought that I was getting a hot dish, but upon my first bite of the panzanella, I was shocked to find that my dish was cold. I didn't realize that panzanella was a salad dish. I had hoped that the sirloin would bring a little temperature to the dish, but the meat was only lukewarm. While I was upset at the temperature of my food, I did enjoy the flavours that it had.

Yelp
The eggs Benedict are to die for! Perfect flavor and amount. Great lattes & the key lime shot is so amazing. The service was impeccable, everyone was so nice and attentive. Food came quick. Outside patio is heated and very comfortable. Huge shoutout to the amazing Emily for her great service, she was so fun and a great welcome to the city.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing servers and amazing service. Only come up a couple times a year and this place will for sure be on our list when we come back. Seriously recommend this place to anyone trying to have good food, great ambiance, and fabulous drinks.

Yelp
Server: Stefania Price: $110 + tax & gratuity ($$$$) Homer St. Cafe and Bar has been on my list for very long time, and I finally have the chance to try it. I was super amazed with how good it was and did not disappoint me. I waited for so long, and it was worth it. Before I depict to the food, I would like to thank my server, Stefania, for making my lunch the most wonderful lunch ever. Stefania was the most funny and cheerful server I have ever been served with. Thank you so much for your wonderful service. Stefania was definitely the star of the experience here for me. Starters - Steak Tartare ($18): The steak tartare with smoked sour cream, onion potato chips and grana padano was just perfect to be eaten together. The home-made chips was just too good. Totally one of the home-made chips I have ever tasted in the whole world. The mix of the tartare and the grana padano was just perfect, and it could not go wrong with the chips. (5/5) - Chicken Wings ($16): The wings with salt and pepper and home-made buttermilk ranch was good. It was full of taste. The buttermilk ranch was just top notch home-made sauce. (5/5) - Spicy Pork Jowl ($16): The pork jowl with home-made chili sauce, cucumber, crispy shallots and cilantro was the star of the food. This is something you should definitely get. The spicy asian fusion taste of the pork was just sublime. Easily perfect. (5/5) Mains - Arctic Char ($32): The artic char with new potato, stinging nettle, brown butter and caper vinaigrette was quite good. I personally love the potato and the mix sauce. The artic char is a little bit dry, but it was not bad. (4/5) Sides - Brussel Sprouts ($11): The brussels sprouts with bacon and sherry vinaigrette was very good though. This is definitely recommended to get for your sides. (5/5) Unfortunately, we did not get any dessert since my stomach was already full, and we could not fill any more. We wished we could have ordered less so that we could get some desserts. Nonetheless, the experience at Homer St. Cafe and Bar was just truly exceptional. The service, the spicy pork jawl and the interesting mix taste were just truly top notch. I would definitely come back here again. Recommended! See you soon! Cheers!

Yelp
**COVID Edition** With the COVID regulations, my group arrived in 2 parties - a party of 6, and a party of 4. We sat in separate tables and did everything separately. Not sure if it's due to COVID regulations, maybe staffing was limited? However, our food between the two groups did not arrive nearly around the same time. One group finished their food by the time the second group got their food. So there was a bit of delay in having to stay at the restaurant longer and wait till the second group finished their food. Our waitress was very lovely and patient with us. She walked us through the menu and despite forgetting to bring our wine bottle, she tried her best to get everything in for us in a timely manner. There were definitely hits and misses on their menu. But love love love their large portions! We ordered the Rotisserie The Full Monty, which was massive - recommend for either 2 very hungry big eaters or ideally 3 people. - Chicken was one of the best ever had however the ribs were a miss. Hot sauce gave tabasco vibes. Buttermilk biscuits were a miss as well - thought it'd be similar to Red Lobster but did not make the cut. Other recommendations: - Steak Tartare - Chicken Liver Parfait - Fries (extra crispy) - Oysters (there were mixed reviews on this one, but I enjoyed it) - HSCB Burger - Lamb Shank Mixed reviews on the Mussels - one enjoyed having the fries soaked in the mussels sauce, gave it more flavor. However the other felt like they had better Mussels elsewhere. So this one depends on one's taste preferences.

Yelp
Decided to stop in and try this place that I always walked by for past 10 years, their specialty is the rotisserie chicken but I decided to try their back ribs. Nothing come with the ribs, chicken, or brisket which are the mains, you need to order sides. I went with 1/2 rack and some fries and honestly was a bit disappointed on the portion size, a little bit of complementary coleslaw on the side or a biscuit would have been nice, the fries are just regular fries, nothing spectacular. I sat at the counter and could see the actual meal preparations in the kitchen, the wings look decent but at $18 for 6 wings they are definitely not cheap, I think you can save a couple $ if you order them during happy hr. I would probably come back in the future and try their rotisserie chicken just to say I've tried it.

Yelp
Only stopped by for like 40 min for a couple drinks between late lunch and dinner. Interior is pretty nice environment for drinks with friends. Waitress kindly reminded me Hammer of the Gods is a gin martini. Recommended by road runner which is good. Spicy margarita is ok not spicy enough. Did not try food but saw ppl have oysters which were decent size. Chicken wings smelled very good! Will go back to try food next time when have a chance.

Yelp
This is an upscale trendy restaurant in the heart of Vancouver. They have an outdoor patio with heating and a variety of seating areas. We arrived on a busy Saturday, but were seated quickly and our server was at our table with water and menus almost immediately. We ordered a variety of appies, and I of course had to taste their burger. Appies Cashew Onion Dip was creamy and flavourful. Chicken Fried Oyster Mushrooms Burrata (roasted Kabocha squash with pumpkin seed salsa verde The onion dip was creamy and flavourful, oyster mushrooms were served within minutes of being cooked (as they were still really hot), and the burrata cheese with squash was great. The burger was one of the best I've had. The meat inside was an extra large, thick patty, was home made, cooked medium, char broiled and simply delicious. We had a friend arrived after we ordered who told us The Homer St. Cafe was known for their roasted chicken. I guess, we will try that next trip! I highly recommend.

Yelp
The ambiance is SO amazing. The staff are dressed so beautifully, it feels like you've stepped back in time when you enter this restaurant. It's a very busy restaurant in a small space so prepare yourself for a busy bustling and high volume environment. The rotisserie chicken is like silk, it just absolutely melts in your mouth! The other dishes I've tried are also incredible. Cocktails are amazing as well!

Yelp
I have been here a few times for happy hour and twice for brunch, but the most recent happy hour visit left me feeling like I won't be back. I have always enjoyed their extensive happy hour menu, and now that they updated it to have even more, I was excited to go again as it had been over a year since my previous visit. However, it seems like the menu has gone downhill since. Out of all the items we tried, I would only recommend the chickpea dip (which used to be even better, with chicken skin and crispy chickpeas on top) and the maple pork belly (although a bit hard). The "poutine" was barely topped with any cheese, mostly aioli. The country bread itself was good, but the trio of sauces it accompanied were just okay to me, and not worth $7. The cheddar croquettes we received had a very burnt taste, although they did not look burnt. After a bite, we deemed them pretty much inedible. We sent it back to the kitchen, and the chef agreed that they had burnt the barley mixture inside. They addressed the issue, took it off our bill and that was it. Service was just okay. I like the patio here. I remember enjoying their brunch, but that was awhile ago and I can't say I would come again after the most recent visit. They also used to have desserts on their happy hour menu, and now they do not. I'd say prices are decent for the portion. Also, they've limited the number of OpenTable reservations they take, despite the restaurant not being full, which is also disappointing. Overall, I think I'd rather go to many of the other happy hour places available in Vancouver. This may be the last visit at Homer Street Cafe for me.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to come here for years now; the warmly lit restaurant on a street corner vibe has always enticed me. So you can imagine my bafflement at entering the restaurant for dinner through a door on Homer and not on the corner! Regardless, the important thing is that you enter the restaurant eventually. A sweet friend of mine offered to take me out for a belated birthday dinner, and I was really pleased with the food we ordered. The first was a trout dish on a bed of white beans, sautéed kale, and onions - how can something be so light and hearty at the same time? The second was a scallop and mussel dish with a bright carrot risotto. "Acidic" can have a negative connotation, but I really enjoyed how the risotto wasn't flat and heavy - I could taste the tang of the white wine (and maybe some other acidic ingredient?) in there. We got a side of fries to share as well, very traditional thick-cut, well-cooked. Upon mentioning that we were out celebrating for my birthday at the end of our meal after we had paid, our server told us to wait so that she could bring something special out. We waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes, then it turned into 20, at which point we were very confused about whether anything was going to happen. We tried getting her attention throughout the waiting period, but to no avail. That put a bit of a damper on the whole experience, but overall, I had a pleasant evening!

Yelp
We had happy hour on a Friday at Homer Street. Luckily it wasn't crowded. They have patio seating and indoor seating. All the servers were wearing masks. I had the Aperol spritz for a drink. It had a bit too much ice in it and tasted a bit watered down. We also had the chicken liver pate with toasted brioche, the burger and the steak tartare. The chicken liver pate was my favourite out of the three. It was really creamy and tasted very liver-y which I like. It went really well with the toasted brioche. I just wish there was more shallot marmalade to balance off the creaminess. The steak tartare was my least favourite out of the three. The smoked sour cream masked over the flavour of the steak tartare. I liked the onion potato chips. The crunch was really nice. The HSBC burger was not bad. Its a TALL BURGER so be warned you will not look good eating this. I couldn't really taste the cheese but there was a lot of lettuce in it and sauce making it pretty messy. I wish there was some tomato in it to make it fresher. I liked the crunch from the lettuce. The burger also came with A LOT of fries. The fries were delicious when hot. The outside was crunchy and inside was nice and fluffy. But once they got cold you could really taste the flavour of the oil. The banana pudding was okay. Not too sweet. Would have preferred it if there was no peanut butter bits in it and if there was more carmalized bananas all through it it would have been better Overall: great place for drinks and food. Their happy hour menu is quite extensive. I would stay away from the cocktails and choose champagne or wine instead next time. Definitely get the chicken liver pate if you like chicken liver. Our server was super nice and patient with us. She knew we wanted dessert and let us wait till 5 to order dessert. Would definitely recommend for happy hour Tip: the burger is grilled to medium so let them know if you would prefer it more grilled. Also dessert is served at 5 so please keep that in mind if you want dessert
