"In a hypothetical scenario in which we can only eat one restaurant’s wings for the rest of our lives, we might just pick Hometown’s smoked ones. They’re truly good enough to commit to a lifelong monogamous poultry relationship. Each wing has a dusting of mole spices that intensifies this already perfectly smoked wing’s flavor. There’s also crumbled queso fresco sprinkled on top as well as a delicious charred poblano crema you can dip every meaty piece into." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Hometown Barbecue serves all the things we expect from a stellar pit-smoked barbecue spot. Their ribs, brisket, mole-dusted wings, and smoked turkey BLT all make us want to go immediately chop down a tree so Hometown’s smoker never runs out of wood. But this huge warehouse also offers lots of great things we don’t necessarily expect at a barbecue joint, like good cocktails, a yucca bowl drizzled with avocado mayo, and charred broccoli with poblano crema. It all gives Hometown more utility, which means you can have a great time here without ever touching a single piece of protein." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Smoked Turkey BLT Ever since Hometown Barbecue opened in Miami, people have been telling us to try the smoked turkey BLT. We usually nod politely before proceeding to order ribs or brisket, but when we finally decided to give it a try, we felt like writing a heartfelt apology to all the people we ignored. You all were right—this sandwich is amazing. The turkey is smoky and so much juicer than the Thanksgiving birds we’ve consumed over the years. It’s served on Tempur-Pedic soft pullman bread and comes with an “avocado mayo” that is our new favorite condiment. And now we will be the ones begging strangers to order this." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"This New York City import recently received a second Bib Gourmand award from the Michelin Guide for its inventive and flavorful barbecue. Every day it offers all its favorites, like pork ribs, brisket, smoked wings, and homemade sausage, alongside an eclectic variety of wines and beers in a chic yet cozy space in the Allapattah neighborhood." - Eater Staff
"From Austin, Texas to Brooklyn, New York, Pitmaster Bill Durney brings his signature barbecue to Magic City. Just like the original location, Durney has built this warehouse-chic space amidst a sea of industry in the Miami Produce Center, where trucks and moving pallets roam the streets. The sheer scale of the space—open kitchen on one side, a long bar on the other, tables in between and a patio just beyond—is something to behold.A hulking beef rib crusted with salt and black pepper, as well as melting, charred slices of brisket are essential orders that have few equals outside of Texas. Satisfying sides, like Frito pie, plancha broccoli and charred summer corn, round out the meal. The food here arrives almost as quickly as it’s ordered, so come hungry." - Michelin Inspector
